They serve an excellent breakfast. Their impossibly fluffy pancakes are fantastic! Their over medium eggs were a savory delight alongside perfectly crisped bacon. My hubby said his breakfast burrito was the best he's ever had and he orders them everywhere we travel. The service was great. We were seated right away and they took our order immediately. Our food arrived quicker than most places which was also a nice surprise. The ambiance was also friendly and peaceful, even with a packed house you can still have conversations and hear each other. Food was yummy - we ordered two sandwiches - the grilled veggie and the pesto. Both were large in size and good flavors. The pesto pasta side was delicious. We also got the warm salad which was yummy as well. The only down side was we ordered for delivery via grubhub and our order was missing our soup and also the salad was missing the dressing. I absolutely loved this spot for breakfast. My boyfriend and I came to check this place out on a vacation for my birthday. We saw it across our hotel and figured why not. The food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and made it wet, it was delicious! It had some smashed avocado and great salsa taste. I had the Sicilian breakfast, it was bursting with flavor. Their bread is delicious! I also took some pastries to go and loved them. Very rich and good texture. Will be returning when I come back. The food had so much flavor. I got the southwest omelet and I don't like omelets. The ingredients they add just gave so much flavor that I actually finished it. Except for the potato's, couldn't get those into my belly. My mom got the veggie omelet and she said that was fantastic as well. The latte was in a bowl which I liked, different. We ordered the cafe scramble (enough for 2 people- it's a big portion for breakfast) and the vegan breakfast burrito which was a good size. Our waitress, Maria, is so attentive and kept checking on us to make sure we have everything we needed. She kept bringing us hot water for our teas without us having to ask her it. This place is amazing. While traveling ,we were planning to enjoy breakfast but had a slow morning and decided on lunch. Ordered sugar free vanilla latte- received that largest latte for $6 bucks I've ever had. I did have to ask for a remake because of too much sugar free sweetener. But the new one was really good. They use organic coffee and milk. We ordered the BLAT on sourdough with a fried egg added. Oh man- flavor explosion. My mouth and tummy were so happy. The cafe is so cute and relaxing. The decor makes you want to sit and relax and talk to strangers or read a book. The food makes you want to stay all day and come back tomorrow. Adorable cafe in Monterey, great for breakfast or brunch! They have a huge menu with huge portions and huge coffees! Everything tasted really great. I especially loved the mocha and the breakfast burrito. The burrito is jampacked with roasted potatoes, onions, cheese, and red bell pepper and the salsa was homemade and was to die for!! We also tried the avocado toast, which was piled on with guacamole, and avocados, with a poached egg. The side salad was especially delicious with this nice garlicky salad dressing. Our waiter was very friendly, offering us his favorite menu options and checking in with us to make sure everything was okay, and is one reason why we enjoyed our experience so much. We also appreciated how locally sourced the ingredients are. We ordered a latte (which comes in a bowl!), and one dish per person. The breakfast burrito bowl, smoked fish steamed egg, goat cheese and sundried tomato steamed egg, and winter skillet (special - mixed winter veggies with poached eggs and bacon) were all yummy. The steamed egg dishes are interesting and fluffy. The bread that comes with many dishes tastes very wholesome. Hot sauces available upon request. It seemed like a few details were off with the dishes (missing ingredients/ strange proportions) but it may have been because the restaurant was very busy? We stopped in here to have coffee after lunch next door. When you first walk in they have a sign in sheet. The place was empty except for 1 table and so my friend walked up and asked if we could order coffee. We got our coffee and it was good. Here's my gripe. They drop/ slam I don't know what- sounds like dishes and silverware CONSTANTLY. We were there over an hour and it never stopped. Do you know how to wash dishes without slamming stuff? It's ridiculous to the point of making fun of the situation when we left. The ambiance is not great. One can get good coffee elsewhere with a more relaxing convivial environment. read more

To start we will talk about the good: the service was good. Our server was very kind and attentive. Now for the negative. They are currently using a rotten pumpkin as a door stop. A gentleman used it walking it and it splattered everywhere. It was disgusting. The food was not even close to being good. There was no seasoning and the sausage I believe was chicken? or maybe turkey that was equally bland and dry. Now I might be biased because as a southerner I believe pork sausage should always be used, but if you're going to substitute a meat, you gotta season it. Both of our were were also bland. I couldn't stomach it. The pancakes- you guessed it- bland. They tasted like unmixed batter. I was told this place is amazing and there's always a line out the door. I'm so surprised by this because the food was mediocre at best. My one star review is being generous. I ordered orange juice which tasted like orange medicine. The orange flavor tasted bad as if the fruit had been spoiled. I took a sip and didn't touch it again. We didn't finish all of the food and when our server returned saying oh you're full already? We ordered the Cafe Scramble and Southwestern Omelette. Both were generous portion as it covered the entire plate! We devoured each bite. The scramble came with mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes, and a hearty amount of cheese. The omelette came with a side of potatoes and was perfectly seasoned. I know restaurant kitchens tend to be busy and people make mistakes but when a customer questions (respectfully of course) the food, the servers need to listen and double check. Don't just shrug it off because customers with food allergy could end up really sick! I ordered my usual- vegan tofu scramble with gluten free bread, this time with soy chorizo and avocado. After about 15 minutes or so, the plate came and I noticed the bread looks different than what I usually get. I asked if the bread was gluten free and without actually thinking, the server said, "It is" and left like the place was busy when it wasn't. Our server came and I asked him if that was gluten free bread and he said he placed the order so it probably is. I told him it looks different than what they usually serve and that I have severe gf allergy so we have to be sure. I asked my daughter to take a bite and confirmed it is not. The waiter left to get gf bread (which they comp'ed) that we ordered. Midway through eating, we realized they forgot to add avocado so I went and let them know. I asked the same guy that brought my plate. He was talking loudly with his coworkers and when I told him about the missing item he looked annoyed. ‍‍ We used to come here weekly but it's gotten to this, plus the inconsistency in flavor/spices in the past. Our weekly visit became monthly and will for sure become less. That was for Sept 1 visit. Today, 9/8/22, a week later- came back here with hubby since it's close to our errands and once again we were disappointed. Hubby actually said he doesn't want to come back here because their food doesn't even taste good anymore. And mine, vegan sunrise tacos were drenched in oil you can't even eat it aside from the fact that the tacos were overflowing with filling that you can't even fold it. Big portions are probably something a lot of people like but if you can't eat your food properly then what's the point? I loved this place because of the organic ingredients and vgf options but if the food is longer enjoyable, there are so many other places to eat in Monterey. I post this with a heavy heart because I loved this place. It has always been inconsistent though since I first started eating here. I go back and forth between Tofu Scramble and Sunrise Tacos and they've either been overly salty, too oily, or bland.
