    Smoked fish platter

This is a cute cafe offering indoor and outdoor seating, a restroom located around the corner of the building in the courtyard (accesssible using a code), and easy street parking right in front of the eatery on a lovely holiday morning. Guests put their name on the waitlist at arrival (their sign-in tablet uses the Yelp waitlist, so technically you can sign-in on Yelp in advance). Our quoted wait time for two people was "1-11 minutes" on New Year's Day. Service was excellent, the staff incredibly friendly and professional. We ordered the smoked fish platter, buttermilk cakes combo with overeasy eggs and chicken apple sausage, iced mocha, and hot tea. The pancakes were certainly fluffy and buttery as described on the menu, but that's cuz I asked for extra butter on the side (note, they didn't have sugar-free syrup available). The sausage and eggs were cooked perfectly. The smoked fish plate was tasty as well, made up of a nice mix of ingredients, a delicious bagel of choice, and fresh fruit. I liked the place and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice brunch spot in Monterey.

Creating community through food. Wild Plum Cafe's motto, stenciled on their plate glass window, speaks to everyone. As soon as you walk in, you're part of the community of breakfast and lattes and deliciously fresh muffins. Their pumpkin muffin and chocolate chip muffin are rich and moist, and so incredibly fresh you'll feel like your grandma just slapped them. My caramel latte is decadent and made with whole milk. I love that they fly the American flag. Outdoor seating is comfortable and dog friendly. Service is great! We've already been checked on twice. We're here in Monterey on vacation, and I can already see coming back tomorrow and trying two more different pastries.

Service and ambience was great! Very nicely appointed. Great location close to many hotels. Pastries were excellent. However, the food was so so. Ambience was great. Staff very friendly and attentive. Quick service. Food a little over priced.

Had a yummy breakfast at The Wild Plum Cafe & I was mighty impressed. I had never been and had heard great things, it did not disappoint. They had a variety of tasty menu options including vegan and vegetarian options. The staff was super friendly and the meals came out fairly quickly. Cute indoor space too! They have a great selection of coffee drinks and pastries (big sizes!). I will definitely be returning.

I was in Monterey for the half marathon last weekend. While most of my friends made a breakfast sandwich, I knew my gut microbiome needed some veggies so I doordashed some fiber. We were staying in the marina and the wild plum cafe was only 20 mins away. It came on time if not a couple minutes early. I got the morning salad with medium poached egg and chorizo and potato's, and added roasted corn pico, artichoke hearts, feta cheese, and pine nuts. I didn't even need to add the dressing because the roasted veggies were so flavorful. My partner said it was the best thing we ate all weekend, and I wholeheartedly agree. I don't know why the ratings are so low here, maybe a takeout order is the way to go?

This place is just amazing! Pesto pasta , avocado toast , bakeries, coffee, you name it and they have it. And its delicious !! Every time we go Monterey we make sure to have a stop for brunch & it just makes our day better. Veggie, non veg and vegan options available to try.

attached a picture of how we found our table when we were seated

A total dissatisfaction. This was my second time here. First time I had such a great experience that I brought friends this time. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our food. Not to be seated, this was once we had been seated on a dirty table. See pic attached. Then they forget my daughter's order. Waitress didn't even come to check on us or apologize. I couldn't helped but to think we were being singled out for being Hispanic. As several people who arrived after we did got their food and left way before our food arrived. Overall, I will never return to this place because their service was terrible

    Amazing latte .

This place is small but mighty. The staff is friendly and efficient. Excellent coffee and baked goods. Breakfast entrees are amazing as well. I try to go here every time I'm in the area.

I love the wild plum. I just moved to town and have visited a handful of times. Highly recommend the sunrise tacos and sweetened latte. Super laid back, super nice staff.

This place is such a cute cafe and was a great breakfast spot. I got the mocha and the mushroom chimichurri wrap. The mocha comes in a gigantic mug which I was extremely happy with. It tasted delicious and I got to enjoy it :) The mushroom chimichurri wrap comes with mushrooms, potatoes, black beans, tofu, roasted corn, pico de gallo, and sweet peppers. Again great portion, BUT the chimichurri wasn't like the usual green one that I've had at other restaurants so I was kind of thrown off by that. I wasn't sure if the sauce on the side was the pico or not...it was good regardless don't get me wrong. The staff was nice and friendly too. It's a go-to spot for me if in the area :)

    Latte art!

The Wild Plum at 8 am on a delightful spring Sunday had only 2 tables available & we scored the perfect window seats in the corner within 5 minutes of arriving. Bustling and friendly staff promptly assisted diners. The decor is charming with handwritten chalkboards, a vendor tribute wall, a wild chandelier, and interesting art. Parking was plentiful and we got a spot right in front. (Note: it was 8 am, so by the time we left it was a lot busier.) We were offered drinks within 2 minutes of being seated, and the latte was beautiful and served in a unique clay pottery bowl. We had the vegan Mushroom Chimichurri Wrap, the special which was Strawberry Apple French Toast, and we added an order of country potatoes...nothing was left on our plates! So goo! The French toast was perfectly prepared and had the texture of moist sweet bread (i.e.: banana nut or zucchini bread) and the warm sliver thin sliced green apples (skin on) and juicy sweet strawberries made the perfect pop of flavor and balanced the creation so it wasn't overly sweet...YUMMY! The country potatoes were well seasoned & flavorful, perfect to pair with the French toast. The chimichurri wrap was hearty and filling with a very mild salsa on the side. Delicious. We are locals & decided to try out the Wild Plum before our beach walk. Perfect kick start to a beautiful coastal Monterey day. We'll be back to try out other items which captured the attention of our taste buds. As we were heading out the door, we couldn't help ourselves...we snagged a muffin & blueberry crumb cake to go! Looking forward to taste testing these extra treats soon.

Very cool and hip cafe in old town Monterey. I think it is in a historic building as it totally…read morelooks like a Spanish Mission era type of building. Super open and airy, there's a separate room off to the side with some haphazardly laid out tables and seats. The main retail area is pretty busy with people lined up placing orders/waiting for an order, or people fixing up their coffee drinks. Now even though I took my goods to-go I had to go out to their patio to find a restroom. That outdoor area is totally cool, totally out in the open but you're like in a square inside a fort, surrounded by walls, so you can't see any street action. But you're totally open to roam in here from the street. Next time I'm in this area, I'm definitely gonna make time to chill on that patio. Cold Brew ($6.50/5*) Perfect to my taste, smooth and mellow on the roast. Pricey for a small cup but this is a touristy area. Banana Bread Slice ($5.25/4*) Very thick slice. Super soft yet moist in the center but firmer and more well done on the edges. Pretty dark in color, maybe some cocoa powder went in but there were also tiny hits of dark chocolate throughout. Mild natural banana flavor, wished it were stronger but that's me. Blue Corn Cookie ($5/5*) Never had a cookie like this before but I was pretty impressed. Kinda like a cornbread but made into the texture of a good cookie, so it was crisp and buttery on the bottom and moist and chewy in the center. All whilst having a pronounced corn meal flavor and texture. Major props for exposing me to something new that I enjoyed immensely. Went great with sips of black cold brew. Most other things in their pastry case seemed a tad fancier than most other regular coffee shops. I'm just glad I was able to run into and choose a more special cafe to end my beautiful trip out in the central coast.

The biggest letdown was the service. The staff seemed irritated to be open, and not one person smiled or appeared welcoming throughout our visit. It wasn't rude, but it definitely didn't make for a great first impression. They have a great selection of baked goods, so we tried the blueberry muffin, donut holes, and chocolate croissant. The blueberry muffin was just okay--the oats on top weren't really my favorite. The donut holes were soft, fluffy, and generously coated in sugar, making them a solid choice. The chocolate croissant was easily the star of the meal. It was incredibly soft, buttery, and filled with perfectly gooey melted chocolate. I also ordered a latte, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. For breakfast, I had the smoked salmon toast. The salmon itself was delicious, but it was served on a very large slice of grain bread that didn't have much flavor, so the dish felt a little underwhelming overall. Looking back, I wish I had ordered the avocado toast instead. Overall, I can see why people stop by for the pastries--especially the chocolate croissant--but based on our experience, we left feeling a little disappointed considering all the buzz.

Sometimes they've been lovely and bubbly, but for some reason this one blonde staff member never seems like she actually wants to help. I had some questions on summer specials since "refresher" doesn't tell me much and she kept telling me about other drinks instead and being super short. The whole interaction still only had to have taken 2 min with only one person (who had been there for a bit already and seems local/older) behind me. Yet the minute I paid, even though I apologized for the questions and tipped, she loudly and passive aggressively said "sorry for the wait" to the next person right in front of me and they both laughed right in front of my face. I read the other review of the person who said they'd been here a bunch and usually loved it and then had a bad interaction and are also not like the "usual" demo of PG - I am also a person of color who was made to feel the same way. Such a shame what one bad impression can leave. Multiple comments about this has to be more than a coincidence...
