The place was very happening on a Saturday night. We called ahead to see the wait and was told no wait. When we got there (about 10 minutes later) the wait was 45-60 minutes. We felt cheated on. Anyway the guys wanted their steaks so we hung around the bar. When we finally sat down the service was pretty decent. I got the special - stripe bass with mash potatoes and clam chowder soup on top. The guys enjoyed their steak very much but my food was strange. The bass was fresh but a little over done. The clam chowder soup was not good and the mash was ok. For a $30 dish, this was not worth it. The bottom line is if you are there for steak, I think it is a good choice. Otherwise, pick somewhere else for seafood. read more

Before we headed to VT we called Killington and The Wobbly Barn to make sure they accepted our gift card and they confirmed. We drove 3 hours from CT to stay over, sightseeing, enjoy a nice dinner with my sweetheart. We had drinks and dinner, then we asked for our tab and handed our gift card to the bartender, who had the NEW employee run the gift card (we were waiting at least 20 minutes to sign and leave a tip) the bartender said they couldn't process or run our gift card to pay for our dinner and drinks? Unbelievable! The bartender had no sympathy nor did he offer any assistance or some type of discount. We made a point to ask beforehand if they accepted our gift card and the bartender said yes "they accepted Killington gift cards". I still am upset and in awe with the customer service from the Wobbly Barn, of not accommodating the gift card we purchased via killington.com. I will definitely let my family and friends about this Horrible experience with this restaurant. We're so disappointed with this restaurant and purchase of gift card for Killington. We drove home now spending more money than we had not anticipated. We were planning on staying over Killington and sightseeing the next morning, but with the customer service and having to spend more money for the dinner, we decided to drive back home, wasteful of money to VT. The restaurant has a new chef. We were there on 11/20 during the half price sale. We had crab cake and shrimp scampi. They were both delicious. Super jumbo shrimps cooked just right. Tender and tasty. The crab cake has almost no bread. It is all large crab chunks. Two 8 oz crab cake. Delicious. A lots of food. Salad bar was very good. Bread and soup very good. My fiends and I came to Killington for a fun weekend trip and everything was great besides the security at wobble barn. We were having a great night until our friends were on stage talking to the band about their performance and a random security guard started tackling him. Random people were coming up to us asking if our friend was okay because the tackle was completely unwarranted. Even the security guards were apologizing for the coworkers behavior. We came here for dinner our first night in Killington. We sat at the bar and order drinks while waiting for our table. While sitting at the bar, the bartender sprayed me with beer. It got my face, hair and jacket wet, but I wasn't upset about it until the bartender didn't apologize or offer me any napkins to wipe up beer now running down my face. All he said was the keg kicked, which is a reasonable explanation, but not a 'sorry about that.' Another patron at the bar even commented. I think the salad bar is a little over rated, but I did enjoy it. The clam chowder was good, but I thought the chili was some of the worse I've ever tasted. We ordered the ribs and veal for our entrees. I thought the ribs were good for where we were, but they aren't fall off the bone ribs. $20 cover in VT should've been the first red flag for this place. Band was good at least but blonde female bartender was the worst. Rude as hell, lost my friends debit card by giving it to a stranger. She then proceeded to yell to have my friends kicked out and aggressively snatched a water out of her hand. thank you Wobbly Barn... this is one of the best restaurants i have ever been to. i live in nyc and have been lucky enough to eat at some of the best restaurants and i know a great well-managed restaurant when i am lucky enough to find one. are there fancier places in the world, or more haute cuisine, sure. but, for outstanding american food in a rustic steakhouse with ski-lodge authentic charm... this is as good as Ive experienced from any restaurant in any category. I went two nights in a row this past week (during my first trip ever to Killington). The first night at Wobbly Barn made the thought of going anywhere else for dinner the next nite obsolete. Im so glad I asked around before we decided on dinner out that first nite. from the moment we came in nite 1, the mgr was courteous and friendly. next was our waiter... this guy is the kind of server that legends are made of... David aka "Duad". not only a great server, but a classic character and gentleman... a throwback to the days of manners and joviality that I can only imagine the 1950s were made of. just a great guy with terrific spirit. eating out for me is a pretty common occurence in the city (albeit more often than not, disappointing on at least one level or another)... so, when you get service like this, it is quite memorable, Duad was professional and friendly, without being phony or overbearing. and then the food... bone-in delmonico charred to perfection, crab cakes phenomenal (Im a DC/MD native, I know good crab cakes), salad bar perfection including a very rare albeit simple/classic item... an amazing french dressing. i havent had french dressing like that in years, if ever. great simple salad bar, very fresh, clean, good soups, good homemade breads. nite two, held off on the steaks but had a nice scampi and of course, the salad bar again (the full salad/soup/bread bar is included with all entrees). again friendly greetings from host. we then waited at the cozy bar for our table. bartender made my gf's gimlet well and happily made my americano cocktail (i had to tell him the ingredients; but as this classic isnt often made outside of cocktail-culture type places, i did not mind filling him in and he was happy to make it per my recipe. he also made it quite well I might add for a first mix). waiter this nite was Victor who was extremely polite, well spoken, and mindful of the pacing for our meal. never overbearing but somehow also never absent, a rarity in service. that takes a thoughtful patient server and he has those qualities down pact. every staff member we encountered was great, on nite one we took to the bar/club/stage area upstairs which was impeccably clean while also fittingly rustic. we were early in the nite as this part of the place had just opened around 8, and it smelled of clean wood, was spotless, and every inch of the place was tended to correctly (down to the wall of stickers/flyers/press which gave a nice overview of the establishment's past and present). the music was just right by the house dj before the first band got started. the security guard who stamped our hands on the way in was very nice and also well spoken, courteous and happy to answer our questions. (big guy, beard, didnt get his name). in the nightclub area, we were served by Mike who was a great barman. I managed two very successful bars in nyc in my past and I know a good barman when I meet one. I wasnt surprised to hear he had been there for years when I asked. again, it was great to have good service at yet another point in the place. he was happy to chat with me about the place and the town. this place is a great mix of either a romantic date spot (get a booth) or for the whole family or for a girls/guys night out. and in the dining room, the background music was just right with nice selections of classic rock from cream to the stones (just loud enough to make you feel it, but not loud enough to distract you from your company) no one in the place knew me, yet I was treated like I was the owner's son. it is so rare to have seamless service, and to also have high standards met with the food and with the general care and preservation of the place (clean perfect rustic ski-town type place). it's now no wonder to me how I always happened upon the name of this place when I had considered Killington in the past, and its now one of the main reasons I will return to Killington as Im always in the mood for this type of dining and night life experience, and am happy to travel/pay for it. read more

Let me just say that this restaurant is my number 1 steak experience. I have ordered the filet mignon both times I have come here. Both times were perfectly medium with a slab of herb butter on top (you can get a sauce but I think sauce is for bad steaks and you don't need that here). I was with a group of 7 adults and we all got meals with side options and they were large enough where we all shared. All of the sides were finger licking good but the truffle scalloped potatoes should be borderline illegal because they left me itching for more. My husband had elk that was so flavorful and he got and salad bar with some braised short rib black bean soup....oohhhhmaaaagaawwwddd!!! The climax of the meal...yes climax was the maple ricotta cheesecake...SAAAAYYY WHHHUUUUTTT!!! Yes it was life changing!! For a restaurant in the mountains of Vermont...Wobbly barn you are a gem!! Wobbly Barn may be the best restaurant in the desolate culinary world of Killington. For an area that attracts affluent clientele all winter long, the restaurants are not exceptional. However, the steak and service at Wobbly Barn make it stand out in this desert of good food. The beer selection is pretty good with a few crafts and some locals on tap. The wine list is pretty good as well, and has some robust reds to go with the meat. The focus may be on the steak, but the seafood is pretty good as well. The thai mussels are nice and flavorful with a spicy tang that enhances the mussels. The ahi tuna was incredible, so delicately seared it is nearly a steak, it should be on everyone's order. As a steakhouse, though the steak had better be good, and it is. The porterhouse is a deliciously thick and tasty slab of meat, cooked to a perfect medium rare, or whatever temperature is desired. They know their meat here. It is honestly one of the best steaks I've had, and was so amazingly perfect after a long day of exertion on the slopes. It can be a bit hard to get in because of the demand during peak ski season, so go early, or late for the best chance of getting a table. read more

I went here to experience the Killington Nightlife with some friends of mine this past weekend. It's a HUGE place! They had a band playing 90's rock and contemporary rock and between their sets they would play hip hop and dance music which was a blast. I think the music was better enjoyed than the band. They had plenty of people walking around to make sure things didn't get too out of control. It's a nice atmosphere, it's a laid back dance place and I hear their food is pretty good too. This place is always busy so either plan to come early or wait about an hour for a table. Upon walking into the barnyard like structure, you will see a free coat check straight ahead. You can ignore the coat check and proceed down the stairs for the restaurant, or the nightclub on the main floor (with a $10 entrance fee) for the various live bands that occasionally come in. We noticed the place was pretty empty at around 7pm, so we decided to dine in. Walking downstairs, you will be introduced by the hostess, who immediately sat us. There was a good amount of seating ranging from tables with chairs and also booth tables. We were fortunate to get a booth table, or maybe not so fortunate. The edge of the booth seat had a 1/2" molding/raised edge, which made it quite awkward and tight to get out of the seats. The rest of the restaurant was dimly lit, but was nicely done, comfy and cozy. Service was pretty impeccable. The waiter came over to take our drink orders and mention the specials, and all the meanwhile was very courteous and enthusiastic about giving any recommendations and clarifications on dishes. The waiter also came over several times during the meal to clean dishes, refill our waters, and asked if we needed anything else. I decided to try their prime rib which was one of their house specialties. I ordered the Mountain Cut Prime Rib which was a 16 oz. prime rib of beef au jus ($31.95) with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. We also ordered a daily special, ravioli filled with spicy sausage and grilled shrimp ($23.95). We also ordered some beef, Long Trail Blackberry for $5.50 and a Long Hammer I.P.A. for $6.50. Included with our meals was the free soup, salad, and bread buffet bar. The two soups being offered were New England Clam Chowder and Buffalo Chicken Soup. The salad bar seemed pretty average, with spinach and mixed greens, and then the usual sides (egg whites, peppers, cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, artichokes, olives, shredded carrots, croutons, onions, bowtie pasta and more). Some of the 6 dressings were pretty interesting, from the Maple Vermont Vinegrette, to the Tomato-style dressing. On to the food. The New England Clam Chowder was delicious!! Perfectly creamy in consistency and not too salty or bland. The only gripe was that there were not enough clam chunks in the soup. The Buffalo Chicken soup was very odd, with shredded bits of chocolate and a medley of vegetables ranging from celery, carrots, and more. It was slightly spicy, tomato soup thin in consistency, but the taste was oddly peculiar, somewhat of a turn off. The salad bar could easily be forgotten as some of the ingredients did not taste entirely fresh nor stale, just average. Our meals came out in about 15 minutes from our order, only giving us enough time to get a plate of salad, and a bowl of each soup. The 16 oz. prime rib was perfectly cooked and sat in a big pool of au jus. It looked very appetizing, but after taking a couple bites, I've come to the conclusion that the prime rib was quite bland and subpar. There was not a lot of seasoning, where they could have seared the outer edges with spices to bring some flavor out. I kept thinking of putting some salt on the prime rib to bring out the flavor because the au jus did not do a very good job at that. There was a substantial part of marbleized fat through the meat but it was slightly chewy and unappealing. The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. Yum! I was a big fan of the ravioli stuffed with spicy sausage and shrimp. It had a nice kick to it. My only gripe with that dish was that no sides were included and portions were small with only about 8-10 pieces of large ravioli. In all, for the several attempts I have tried to come here to dine in, I am glad that I have finally had the chance to try it out, but I was not at all impressed with their specialty, the prime rib. Maybe it was a bad day for them because 1-hour waits have to say something about the restaurant, but I'd wander on the border of caution for their simplicity of dishes and high prices. The soup, salad, and bread buffet bar could be your main entree for $17.95, but again, definitely not worth the price because of the simple and cheap sides. read more

We went to Wobbly for dinner a few nights ago while visiting killington and it was amazing. The host was very friendly and sat us right away. The server came over and introduced herself and told us the specials for the night. We both started with the salad bar and soup. Which was the best salad bar I've ever had!!! Definitely recommend it. And we also had shrimp cocktail to share. We were so full, should have passed up on the shrimp to save room for our mouth watering entrees, which we wished we finished. I ended up ordering the 8oz NY Strip on the regular menu with rice. The steak was delicious. Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly. The rice was terrible. Way too herby, I thought I took a bite of parsley. It also had chickpeas which hate. I told the waitress, Sharon and she brought out a side of mashed potatoes within 3 minutes. The potatoes were very tasty. Over all I had a great meal. My boyfriend ordered a NY Strip as well, 12oz, from the specials that night, that was topped off with Worcester sauce and fresh lemon juice, with a side of garlic mashed. He really enjoyed it. I had the chocolate martini for dessert and it was very good as well. Our server Sharon was very helpful and sweet the whole night. The busser, Pat was quick and came over to the table about 5 times through out the meal to remove dirty plates. Over all a great staff, delicious food and good drinks. Came here for dinner after a whole day of snowboarding at Killington. Really nice decor like it was built by hand, one piece of wood at a time. We were seated fairly quickly despite our group of 16, they were really accommodating when they arranged two tables for us. The waitress that served us (Kelly?) was super informative when we had questions regarding the menu and real attentive when we needed a refill on our drinks. I ordered a 12oz New York strip with a side of garlic mash potato and shrimp scampi with the unlimited soup and salad option. My steak was real tender and the flavored butter that was on it complimented it real well. I am drooling right now just thinking about how good it was. The shrimp was real fresh and it snaps when you bite into it; again super fresh. I had their steak chili soup which was real flavorful with bits of steak. So many options for their unlimited salad bars from veggies to pasta salads to tuna salads. Oh and their warm bread, especially their garlic bread is awesome with their homemade butter. Basically, if you're a 24 year old dude who is into the Jersey Shore and likes 6:1 male/female ratios so you can stand around and talk to your bros about that random hot chick over there while waiting a half hour for one of the four prima-donna (horrible, horrible service) bartenders in the whole joint to pour you a weak drink, then THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! On the plus side, if you are already drunk and have nothing better to do, given that you're chilling on the side of a mountain, probably sore from a day of skiing, and there's nothing else around, then this place does have plenty of energy and you'll probably see some stupid people acting stupid, which is always entertaining on some level. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and honestly I came here because it seemed like Wobbly Barn is the only steakhouse in the Killington Ski Resort area. We came a bit early to avoid a wait. One thing that there's two sides, a nightclub and a restaurant. Pretty good idea since I do not need to see a drunk fight while having my steak, anyway, back to the restaurant! I ordered the porterhouse and my man ordered one of the specials, filet mignon with steamed lobster tails and claw and mashed lobster potatoes. Now there is a wait for the food, probably because I'm from New York and service has to be in speed of light. But I patiently waited. The porterhouse was the best entree I ordered, my boyfriend on the other hand, we both looked as if there should've been more on his plate, the lobster tails and claw were already deshelled so it gave this look as he ordered diet food. But the filet mignon he ordered, wow just like butter in your mouth! And the lobster mashed potatoes, fantastic! My porterhouse was served perfectly, raw and juicy with the perfect spices. My family and I ate here for the first time on a Friday night. We showed up around 1830 and were promptly seated. Everyone was very nice from the time we entered the door. All four of us had steaks: Prime Rib, Top Sirloin, kids Medallions, kids Top Sirloin. All were cooked perfectly. Portion sizes for each cut were appropriate. The only sides we got were mashed potatoes and rice. Both were good. Everyone enjoyed the flavor of their meat choice. I also have to mention the salad bar. You can have it as a side or a meal and it can be either. Very well stocked with an abundance of variety. Everything tasted fresh. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive. A plus was that the other staff also helped clear extra plates; I've always liked the team approach. We'll be going back. read more

I chose the beef tenderloin Oscar, which was topped with fresh crab and asparagus along with a side of garlic mashed potatoes (starch options also included baked, mashed, and rice). the steak was rich and delicious and I enjoyed the crab topping. my husband got the filet mignon and this was cooked absolutely perfectly.
