The lady I spoke to was really nice and friendly. The inside of the place is clean, and while they aren't currently offering Indoor seating, you can tell they're taking precautions to keep the place especially clean due to the pandemic. The egg drop soup was delicious, not to runny or thin, and perfectly hot. The dumplings were also delicious, fresh, not greasy, and served with a sauce that had a delightful sesame gingery kick. Have ordered twice now. First time, was Chicken with eggplant and Sesame trio, both were very good. Second time, Shrimp lettuce wraps, Cashew Chicken, and Singapore noodles. Wasn't a huge fan of the lettuce wraps. It was basically chopped water chestnuts with barely any shrimp. :( The Singapore noodles were nice and hot but could use a little more curry flavor. This place is the definition of sadness. Imagine a place you would go, for happiness to die. With 100's of restaurants to choose from, this one is not it. We visited at 11am on a Wed. No other diner visited during our 50 minute visit, obviously because the locals know better. The restaurant is painfully worn and dilapidated. The interior hasn't seen attention since the Bush era. Old tube TV's, handwritten signs and general storage decorate the interior. They have no take-able menu, just a community menu that sits at the counter for you to awkwardly review while they wait for you to order. To say this was the worst Chinese of my life, would be a reach, but it was painfully close. A bunch of frozen junk, coated in more sugary syrup. My General chicken was 10 pieces of small "chicken" covered in gloop, with 1lb of very old rice. The balance of the meals were equally lack luster. Just avoid this place and go anywhere else. Better than average fast take out Chinese. They have a few tables, but they are mostly a take out restaurant. I am never unhappy with what I get here. I am also never over the top with what I get here. It is consistent, they are pretty quick on making your order. They do care about your satisfaction. Stopped in for lunch today and the place was pretty full. I ordered the shrimp lo mein and the sesame chicken with fried rice. Usually they have the best lo mein to me but today it was just not that good. I'm not sure what they did different but it was not that good. The sesame chicken was the best part but some of the chicken was fried too hard so it had a crunchy texture to it. I always test how good the fried rice is by if I have to drench it in duck sauce for it to taste good and with their fried rice that's exactly what I had to do. Overall I was disappointed with my meal. I will give them another try though, maybe they were just having an off day. read more

Our go to for take out Chinese as its conveniently located off 485 which is easily accessible when heading home. The food is pretty good I haven't had any issues since we discover this place. The only issue we have is the fact that there is NO really NYC or Chicago style Chinese take out spots in NC. We LOVE some good Chinese that make you want to go every night(but don't go) and here in the QC we have been VERY UNSUCCESSFUL in finding that place but we have found light comfort and convenience in The Wok. We only ALWAYS order the spicy green beans which is stir fried with tofu and I believe chicken but we always say LEAVE OFF the chicken. It's pretty flavorful and we like it. My daughter stamp item is the shrimp fried rice only and that's what she orders rah and every time. So as you can see we stick to two items and maybe one additional item like the spicy mix seafood mix minus the squid. This is only once in a while when we feel like exploring the menu a little more just don't want anything to turn us off so we stick to the regular items :-) read more

I recently tried the Wok for takeout and found it to be pretty solid. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and the chicken and sauce was good. I wasn't thrilled about the mix of veggies they used, but it wasn't bad. I got a meal that came with an egg roll and it was not the best egg roll, but I really prefer spring rolls anyway. I went back for take out a second time and this time I got the garlic chicken with brown rice. Closest Chinese restaurant to my house, so I typically use it. Food isn't all that great, but not terrible either. Somehow they manage to make a meal in under 30 seconds, meaning they're quick and efficient. Prices are pretty cheap. Nasty General Tso's Chicken with a sort of undercooked doughy batter on the exterior (yuk!), nasty over cooked broccoli (I love broccoli florets and am very bummed when bad cooks ruin one of God's great gifts - beautiful broccoli), the fried rice is literally not as good as the generic stuff sold in the freezer bag at Trader Joe's, and the spring roll is soggy rather than crisp. Plus prices are high at The Wok. Finally, every time I request "extra spicy, please. Like as hot as you guys make it." Every time I get bland, no hot Chinese peppers or other spicy pepper sauce. If I wasn't so hungry, and against waste, I would have thrown the entire thing in the garbage can. Yuk! Never again even if it's just around the corner. Didn't understand the 90 sanitation rating, used to be our go to Friday pepper steak and chicken fried rice place. Never really tried anything else. Quick, close by, reasonably priced.
