I see a lot of people reviewing the sushi, but I don't typically go to a Chinese restaurant and order Japanese sushi so I can't speak to that. Besides, it's too damn far from an ocean for me to be eating sushi. Just saying. As far as the Chinese food goes, I keep my order pretty simple and I wouldn't call the food great by any stretch of the imagination. However, considering where it is located (BFE), I will give it three stars and says it's pretty good. This is my typical to-go order - a bowl of hot and sour soup (good and spicy) and the salt and pepper pork chop (plenty of jalapenos) both are pretty good and the preparation is consistent. Also, the portions are good-sized. Recently I decided to dine inside so I could try the sizzling rice soup but they don't do the rice properly and rather than a sizzle, it was more of a fizzle. I also tried the lettuce cups but it was served with iceberg lettuce (which wasn't fresh and not nearly enough for the amount of filing). So if you want Chinese food in Fallon, this is the place. The Wok is easily the best place to get Chinese and even sushi in Fallon. In fact, it is the only place for sushi and one of three for Chinese. I will say, if the place was in Reno and had more competition it would still be in my rotation of places to stop at. The Chinese menu is good and varied. They have good lunch specials that hit the spot. Plus it's a big enough place to handle a large crowd of family for dinner. The sushi is surprisingly good. I know I know, sushi in Fallon. I have eaten it quite a few times, never been sick, never thought it was a bad choice. They have a ton of different rolls to choose from and the price for all you can eat is right on par with any other sushi joint I've been to. Okay, this review is hard to compare as I have traveled the world and experienced Asian Cuisine in many different countries and cultures. But for a restaurant that serves Chinese/Japanese style food, I will say they have a great selection. We had the sushi rolls,and they did disappoint. Seems as if the rolls were pre-made ahead of time and kept in a fridge vs. standard sushi chefs who make your order fresh after receiving your ticket. The orange chicken had no flavor but had plenty of sauce that lacked flavor. The fried rice was presented well and was vibrant but yet again lacked any flavor. The egg drop soup was surprisingly flavorful but was for sure not anything close to the Chinese recipe,as they added carrots to it or chicken noodle soup. They do provide outstanding customer service and offer a hefty military discount, which is amazing as most places don't acknowledge military or veterans anymore. Overall, I would not go to this place,and would rather recommend going to a major city for Asian cuisine. read more

I went in today (for the 50th time since 2013, I guess) and I'm again pleased with the quality, service, just all aspects of dining at the Wok! I had the 25 piece Sashimi dish. Awesome!! Very fresh cuts of fish, nice presentation, really good meal. I ALWAYS get the seaweed salad. So fresh, chilled and flavorful! The only thing about the Wok I don't like: they stopped the AYCE sushi. The Wok used to be so good. What happened?? I had stopped going awhile ago because the quality of the food had fallen to a level lower than I accept. And I had given it plenty of tries before giving up and driving to China Chef in Fernley. But recently people have been talking about how good it is on our towns Facebook group. So we thought we'd give it another go. I wanted so badly to like it, but unfortunately it was extremely disappointing. They were out of a lot of their beverages, the food was nothing to go "MMM" over and it was hot as heck in there that we were so uncomfortable it made the not so good food worse. The ceiling fans (ALL OF THEM) were going the wrong direction and their split unit AC system was apparently not working. So we will continue to drive 24 miles to Fernley to the China Chef on 95 and Main for our Asian cuisine. read more

Not only do they never answer the phone, so its incredibly difficult to make a reservation, when we finally DID get ahold of them they claimed their "reservations were fully booked for the night" but said we could still try as a walk in. Okay cool. We got there at about 6:30 and put our names down on the list, they said 30 min maybe an hour due to "big party reservations". They didn't close until 9, so we decided to wait. Worst decision we could have made. We were sat exactly a few minutes before 8pm, and the main reason we came here was for the All You Can Eat. Well, instead of informing us when we put our name in line, at 6:30pm, they decided to wait until we were sat and then informed us the All You Can Eat was now over, and we have to pay full price. On their menu it says the All You Can Eat is until Close. If you knew that we might not get sat in time, why not tell us we would potentially miss it?? We waited an hour and a half when we could have easily driven into town and gone somewhere else. Complete waste of time, money and energy for awful rude service and to top it off, not a SINGLE "big party" showed up, not even when we first got here. To the time we waited and left. We came out here to support local, and enjoy a night in a restaurant after everything that happened this past year. Not worth it- go somewhere else. I hate to do a negartive review, but this was a bad experience. I'm 81. My wife (recently passed away after 55 years) and I were here several years ago and so memory is dim. However, I don't have anything negative. Tonight I really was at odds for dinner all alone, so I decided a take out from the Wok after all these years. I (we) have had house special chow mein all over the Western US and it's always good. Till tonight. This was without a doubt the worst, by far, I've ever had. I can't even make enough specific complaints. But, and most importantly, without getting into the content, it was basically tasteless. It was a meager serving for $14.95. The place is clean and cozy, with some interesting decor befitting a Chinese and sushi restaurant. I ordered the hot tea (.75 cents) and was completely let down. The waiter said it was green tea. It was not, I'm not even sure if it was tea. Looked like black tea, but had absolutely no flavor. Taste like warm water. Disgusting, and honestly, not sure how that gets messed up. Anyways, the staff was interesting, had one waitress tell me something and another something different. The staff didn't seem to know what was going on, or who was in charge of what. Our ultimate waitress (the one who asked us what we wanted and served us) was pretty superb. The sushi was creative, and not too bad considering it's sushi in the middle of Nevada. But I'd recommend against the diesel roll. It's trying too hard to be interesting by adding lemon into the flavor, and ultimately tastes like a lemon bar. Which isn't bad, I love lemon bars, but imo sushi (unless dessert sushi) shouldn't taste like dessert. The lemon was so overpowering you couldn't taste anything else in the roll. Besides this roll, I found it bewildering that for multiple rolls they just unwarrantedly slap sriracha on it. Granted sriracha was stated on each roll it was a part of, it's really unnecessary and creatively lazy imo. Also the unagi sauce is subpar. But again the sushi is very decent all in all. On the brightest note though, they have Huckleberry ice cream! Which if you've never had it, you should do yourself the pleasure of going here try it. It's a rarity, and I was astonished they had it outside of Idaho, which is where they get it from. An outstanding surprise. I give the Wok 3 stars. The staff kind of brought this down. I've been here a few times when we visit from IL and each time I'm always hopping it will get better. I just need to give up on this restaurant. My husband and I had chinese food. The kung pow chicken, the amount of peanuts in this dish was overwhelming it looks like they put about a cup full. My last review (11/19) mentioned that I went to the Wok, and that the server told me upon entering and being seated that it would take around an hour to get served food. Bummer, no doubt, when I was sooooo looking forward to some sushi! But, I was able to decide that waiting was not for me, and I left without it being a major deal. No harm, No foul. Sushi Moto in Fernley was more than happy to serve me that same afternoon! Fast forward to TODAY (02/01/2020) and again I'm in Fallon and in the mood for sushi. So, to the Wok I go. I arrive at 11:15 or so. They open at 11. I see that a large table of folks (8 or 10) were already seated. I am seated at the tall table by the sushi bar. I was told that due to a large table of people getting sushi that I'd have to wait about 20 minutes to be served sushi. Fair enough, I decide. I can wait 20 minutes. I order three appetizers (seaweed salad, mussels and poppers) and I get the seaweed salad about ten minutes after waiting. All good. I get the mussels after about 20 minutes of waiting, NOT good, especially since they were LUKEWARM. They had been sitting for a time, I gather. Well, being that I was starving, I ate them anyway. Ordinarily I'd have asked that they be reheated or remade, but I was just starving. I noticed that five people entered the restaurant 15 minutes after I did and that they sat at the sushi bar. Apparently, maybe I should have too! They had their sushi (partial orders, anyway) after they had been there for 10 minutes or so. I still didn't have my popper order, nigiri order, nor long roll order, after a 25 minute wait! I really did not want to wait any longer for my food, when I'd been waiting longer than the folks that came in before me. I had gotten there at 11:15 and I decided that 11:50 was long enough! I was going to just up and leave, but with my luck the police might have been called. I went to the register to let the staff know that I'd be leaving, and I explained why I was not too happy about the "dining experience" and to clear up my bill. I was told that over 10 dollars was due as I had eaten the seaweed salad (slimmer than normal) and I had eaten the lukewarm mussels. I asked to speak to a manager. I explained to the manager why I was dissatisfied, she told me, then, that I'd only have to pay for the seaweed salad. I told her that I really did not think that I should have to do so, as I had not been given a fair estimate of the time frame that I'd be served my food. She repeated that I needed to pay this charge, until I advised her that I would do so, and that I would update my many, many YELP reviews of my "dining" experience with them today. This is a warning for anyone who goes to the Wok. I had my friend pick up an order for me on Saturday around 1:30 pm,Didn't eat the tempura combo til 4-6 pm but had it properly refrigerated and then microwaved when I ate it. Around 3-4 hours later my stomach was killing me, hadn't eaten anything all day, and am in no contact with anyone.? I'm c was in pain all night so I asked the same friend to take me to the er I thought I had the flu, but after testing for the flu strep and covid they were all negative! The PA there said it was either food poisoning or something like Novovirus. Both in treatable. So since it was Sunday, I had to wait til Monday to make a complaint. The women were very snotty and treated me like dirt and kept saying so in so will call me back no one ever did so I kept calling. I didn't want my money back, just credit for another dinner or half credit is all, I had some of the sides left that were thrown out I didn't want to get c sicker. So here it's Tuesday and I'm still in horrible pain. Yes I may be dumb for going to the Wok in the first place,,true, however they are the only ones who make tempura here and I've never been this sick before. So this is just a friendly warning, restaurants who don't protect customers from things like this shouldn't be open anywhere even in the most crappiest towns in America. So tonight we tried The Wok and ordered our favorite dishes, total was just a bit under $55. The order arrived on the late side, but wasn't too bad, so we ignored that. I thanked the gal, verified amount due, paid her cash and said to keep the change. Went in, happily and eagerly unpacked our meal. Mood is a big part of meals for us. We noted the House Special Chow Mein was absent, which explained why the bag seemed small. Picture 1 grocery sized bag expected to hold appetizers, a quart of soup, a pint of steamed rice, a full dinner of Sweet Spiced Shrimp with side of broccoli, then full size entrees of both House Fried Rice and also House Chow Mein. Previously this same order would come in a box, because it's obviously too much for a single, grocery sized bag. But...I just wasn't thinking when I accepted the order. I phoned immediately and was put on hold. Then the gal that delivered and/or packed (both?) The meal got on and questioned me: "Are you sure? Because I packed that myself!"...I'm thinking to myself what the heck!? Since of course I'm sure or I wouldn't be phoning (It's a $10 item, my favorite..and we don't eat out much). The gal tells me she needs to check to see if any food is left or otherwise not delivered or picked up. So hungry and now really miffed I get put on hold again. After awhile their lead gets on and was using a very 'overly sweet' voice (most would consider this patronizing) and after me explaining again she too says she has to put me on hold to check for the food ALL that over some chow mein. Having served the food industry in my past for many years, even if customers had been ripping me off, I wouldn't treat every caller as if they were lying. A meal is supposed to be pleasurable, particularly one that is paid for. That means the paramount concern SHOULD be a happy customer, therefore if workers either forget, misdeliver or lose the customers food, that is not the customers fault or problem...their problem is, whether or not I have delivered as advertised. When did getting ones meal involve patronizing attitudes or even DELAYING the customers meal by putting them on hold to attempt to verify their story!? This all continued until I called them out on it. Yes, I was offered a replacement..."As a RE-Delivery!!"...How do you redeliver something you never delivered to begin with? And...who would even be hungry after all that? Ruined the meal AND what was left of our evening. I'm sorry I gave The Wok another chance. $60 frustration dinner. read more

Not bad. The honey walnut shrimp is very lightly breaded before cooked and the sauce tastes more of Chinese mayonnaise than an actual sauce. The hot tea is pre brewed before potted so a bag is not presant in the kettle. It is quite obvious that the wok is known for the sushi rather than main dishes. The nigiri is fresh and the rolls are good, not to much/little rice to fish ratio. Overal it was a plesant dining experience. Due to covid-19 seating is limited and the service is more abele attentive. I would probably recommend my sushi fans to eat here. read more

Just visiting, celebrating my husbands birthday and he wanted Chinese food. We found thus cute place. Clean. Pleasant decor and atmosphere. Food was very good. Server seems new. A little slow but pleasant. Maybe we're just too use to "city" living (compared to Fallon anyway). He was thrown off guard when I replied "no rice" when he asked. It would have been nice to get a refill on my water. It didn't look particularly busy but he seemed a bit harried trying to keep up on things. I didn't think to take pictures, but the food was beautiful and tasted very good. We ordered off the lunch menu. I ordered Mandarin Beef and Chinese Chicken Salad. That salad was excellent The Mandarin Beef is listed as Spicy and it was actually a bit spicy, a very nice change. I'm use to places listing the food as spicy - ordering spicy, then it isn't. What a disappointment. Went here today to give them a second chance. Last time we came we had all you can eat and now they don't and it wasn't any good then. Now they took away the all you can eat. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them hit their stride like I had hoped. They are still in the business of always changing their rules without any notification. You want to sit at the sushi bar? Too bad, there's only two people seated there which could overwhelm the chefs. Don't see reservation tabs at the sushi bar? Don't bother asking about that because you will get schooled by the hostess as to why your request to sit there is impossible. The sushi bar is the only place where you will not wait 45 minutes or more for your sushi. The chefs are extremely nice and competent, so I'm not buying the hostesses excuses. Their website states they do delivery on Fridays until 8:30 pm. It took my me and my husband 10 tries to actually get through to them at 7:30 pm before the waitress told us they were no longer doing deliveries for that night. We were a little annoyed, but figured they were really busy, so we ordered take-out from them. We walked into the restaurant expecting to find the place packed. There were only about 12 tables full of diners. I don't even want to talk about the customer service we received when we picked up our food. Places like this make me miss larger cities where we could have easily picked another establishment to carry through our order. This restaurant takes advantage of being only one of two Asian fusion restaurants in Fallon, NV and I don't see it getting any better until they have some decent competition. We went to the Wok tonight for sushi. The food is really good there but the service left a lot to be desired. Our servers name was Aaron and he was horrible!! He spent more time talking with his friends then he did with serving our needs. He never came back to the table to check if everything was alright or if we wanted anything more... Which in fact we would have ordered more had he taken the time to come back and check. Employees lack of work ethic is a good way to kill local business. The Wok serves Asian food and it's actually decent for Fallon. I'm not really sure what else to say about this joint other than it's worth a trip if you're just looking for Asian flavored food. Notice that I am being very general about it. The sushi, if not super obvious, is going to be acceptable but nothing mind-blowing (unless fish swim in the desert and Japanese people flock to Fallon). You probably couldn't go wrong with anything here but again, don't except a gourmet meal. I did try the Huckleberry ice cream which was pretty delicious. They have a banquet hall you can rent out, I think. If I ever come back, it'll be for some American sushi doused in soy sauce and the pseudo-wasabi. read more

This one star rating is for just the reception we received when we walked in the door at 7 pm. The greeter said there were 2 names ahead of us. BUT a server left mid shift and we might have to wait at least an hour and maybe even then would not be seated. Where was management? Where was the manager who wants satisfied customers? Definiteley disappointed in this place. I heard such great things about how it was the best (and possibly only) sushi in town. I was also excited when I heard that they had an all you can eat! Those are both trumped when you wait 2 hours for food. I don't think I've ever waited that long for food at a restaurant. What made it even worse was the fact that our waitress either didn't really care about us or this place just really is that bad. A few of us ordered appetizers and even those took forever to get out. And instead of coming by and offering something for us to snack on she instead said, it's going to be an hour for your food. After we had already waited an hour. Even after all the wait and the hype our food slowly started coming out and the sushi rolls were bland, tasted old, and the smallest rolls I've ever seen. I won't be going back. This restaurant really actually deserves a 2.5 but obviously yelp doesn't give that option, but I would give this place a lesser review than trick people by giving it 3 stars. The first time I came here was for the sushi. I thought the all you can eat sushi for $25 was a pretty good deal as I don't have that where I'm from. There is a specific menu for sushi that you can order from when you buy the all you can eat which has very limited choices with many of the sushi items having nearly the same ingredients. On all of the rolls I ordered I noticed TONS of imitation crab meat which was overwhelming to me. The rolls were pretty small as well. A few days later I decided to make the trip to Sushi Moto for their unlimited sushi and have been back numerous times as their quality and selection are much better. Last night I was craving Chinese food and as I am currently on det I can't just go where I want- when I want so I called in for delivery. I was told they were not delivering today. I'm assuming they were really busy and couldn't afford to let any of their workers leave to deliver. This lets me know that in the future If I'm craving Chinese that their availability to deliver is gonna be all over the place and that I have a 50/50 shot of ordering food to base. This is going to make me much less likely to attempt to order from here because I don't want to start craving Chinese just to find out they don't deliver that day. Lastly, after finding out they didn't deliver today, I went in and ordered food to eat there. I ordered the sliced pork which was very fatty, the walnut shrimp which was decent enough 6/10, and the pork fried rice which was very dry, not much pork. The rice quality was like when you overcook and over stir rice and it ends up being like small and gritty. Overall, if you're really craving Chinese and don't want to drive far from base, this is an okay choice. If you don't mind the drive then I would definitely suggest Sushi Moto instead. read more

Last weekend we took a little trip to Fallon to visit some family. They wanted to take us out to dinner and they picked The Wok. .I was pretty happy to see that they had SUSHI! I love Sushi! Everyone else in the party ordered Chinese food. The waitress brought out our soup and then the Chinese food started coming out. I asked about my roll and they said the kitchen was a bit behind but it was coming. Everyone was eating and I asked again about my food since it was a bit awkward sitting there watching everyone eat. I snagged a couple shrimp off a plate and then asked again, and again I got the brush off that they were running behind. Everyone was pretty much done eating and one of the waitresses came out and asked if she could box things up. She was standing right next to me and I was like um I never even got my food? Then the original waitress came back and asked me what I had ordered. I told her to just forget it because at this point I wasn't going to sit there and eat while everyone else was done. Then I asked to talk to the manager. Did I mention how awkward this all was? So I complained to the manager how they pretty much embarrassed my aunt and uncle who took us out to dinner to this nice place and how they embarrassed me by making me sit there while everyone ate. She apologized, left and then came back and said that the ticket had got lost. So basically the first 4 times I asked where my food was they never even went and checked and lied about it. Nice! The manager apologized again and said she'd get me one to go (for free but honestly half the meal should have been free for how embarrassing it all was). So that's what they did in a record couple minutes (gee maybe the waitress could have rushed one when I asked the 2nd time?). I took my little baggie to go and ended up eating it in the hotel room.
