Definiteley disappointed in this place. I heard such great things about how it was the best (and possibly only) sushi in town. I was also excited when I heard that they had an all you can eat! Those are both trumped when you wait 2 hours for food. I don't think I've ever waited that long for food at a restaurant. What made it even worse was the fact that our waitress either didn't really care about us or this place just really is that bad. A few of us ordered appetizers and even those took forever to get out. And instead of coming by and offering something for us to snack on she instead said, it's going to be an hour for your food. After we had already waited an hour. Even after all the wait and the hype our food slowly started coming out and the sushi rolls were bland, tasted old, and the smallest rolls I've ever seen. I won't be going back. This restaurant really actually deserves a 2.5 but obviously yelp doesn't give that option, but I would give this place a lesser review than trick people by giving it 3 stars. The first time I came here was for the sushi. I thought the all you can eat sushi for $25 was a pretty good deal as I don't have that where I'm from. There is a specific menu for sushi that you can order from when you buy the all you can eat which has very limited choices with many of the sushi items having nearly the same ingredients. On all of the rolls I ordered I noticed TONS of imitation crab meat which was overwhelming to me. The rolls were pretty small as well. A few days later I decided to make the trip to Sushi Moto for their unlimited sushi and have been back numerous times as their quality and selection are much better. Last night I was craving Chinese food and as I am currently on det I can't just go where I want- when I want so I called in for delivery. I was told they were not delivering today. I'm assuming they were really busy and couldn't afford to let any of their workers leave to deliver. This lets me know that in the future If I'm craving Chinese that their availability to deliver is gonna be all over the place and that I have a 50/50 shot of ordering food to base. This is going to make me much less likely to attempt to order from here because I don't want to start craving Chinese just to find out they don't deliver that day. Lastly, after finding out they didn't deliver today, I went in and ordered food to eat there. I ordered the sliced pork which was very fatty, the walnut shrimp which was decent enough 6/10, and the pork fried rice which was very dry, not much pork. The rice quality was like when you overcook and over stir rice and it ends up being like small and gritty. Overall, if you're really craving Chinese and don't want to drive far from base, this is an okay choice. If you don't mind the drive then I would definitely suggest Sushi Moto instead. read more

In a small town, people talk. Gossip travels fast and far and it doesn't take much for your business to become public knowledge. However, The Wok and local restaurants, in general, seem to be impervious to the Gossip. Fallon isn't known for much. In fact, it's barely on the map. If it wasn't for the Navy base it would probably not be much more than a blip on the map. In a small town, you'd expect that restaurants need to be on top of their game since their customer base is small and the town isn't known for its tourism. Fresh patrons aren't flowing through their doors like you'd see in a town like Las Vegas, San Francisco or even Reno. Service should be top notch and the food should be prepared with care as it doesn't take much for your reputation to go down. The Wok seems to have missed all the important aspects of being a local restaurant. Poor service, mediocre food, and no remorse or attempt to resolve the issues plaguing the establishment. It feels as if they lost the passion and drive that led them to open the restaurant in the first place. They no longer care and instead of improving or closing they seem to prefer to let it suffer and die slowly. My most recent visit was Saturday, March 24th. We had made reservations for 6:30 pm as we were attending the adult prom afterward. We were running late and called to let The Wok know we'd be 10 minutes late. We arrived at 6:40 and were seated immediately. We waited ten minutes from sitting down for our server to come take our drink orders. Surely this was just punishment for showing up ten minutes past our reservation time. We all ordered water and within 5 minutes we had all received our chilled Northern Nevada tap water. Egg rolls and a soup were ordered as appetizers. Timing wasn't bad for this course with a little over 15 minutes from ordering to receiving. We ordered the entrees shortly after finishing our appetizers. Two of the three of us ordered hot Chinese food and one ordered 2 Sushi rolls. This is where our visit took a nose dive. We waited 45 minutes for our entrees and upon receiving the dishes we were immediately alarmed that the sushi hadn't come out with the 2 entrees. No big deal, right. The sushi should be out any minute as what kind of restaurant would service two out of the three guests at a table? The Wok would! Being decent people the two of us with hot food offered to share what we had while the sushi was flown in from the coast. My meal was simply chicken and Brocolli and half of my chicken was cold. HALF! One half of my entree must have been sitting under a heat lamp for a good amount of time. My Brocolli must have been sitting outside as it was near ice cold. I made a complaint and had to wait 20 minutes for them to get me hot broccoli. I wonder if they ordered it from the other Chinese place in town and had to walk to pick up the order. The sad part is, that from the time I complained and the subsequent 20-minute wait, the sushi still wasn't ready. 30 minutes had gone by from the time hot-ish entrees arrived and the time the sushi arrived. No, where near acceptable. The food wasn't good enough to make up for the poor service and ridiculous wait. I can't help but wonder if anyone running that restaurant has any experience in the food industry. Do they just expect people to put up with it or do they really want to die a slow painful death by driving away nearly every patron that braves the poor reviews? With service that slow and a mind-blowing caviler attitude towards customer service, I'd not be shocked if the kitchen was straight out of a horror movie or a bad episode of Kitchen Nightmares. How can one believe that the backend isn't as bad or worse than the frontend? I for one will never go back and I'm pretty sure my two dinner guests will also not go back. How long until they close their doors and leave yet another vacant stain on the main street of this tiny town. The Wok should change its name to The Walk as that is what I advise everyone to do when considering eating here. Just Walk on by! read more

After waiting an hour for our food I'm going to have to pass on a revisit. Between the Mongolian beef being over seasoned and over bearing and the pepper steak being under seasoned and bland it's hard to see why this place is hyped up. I did give a suggestion to the cook to lighten up on the fluffy pot stickers aka gyoza. Also a no. Would not recommend but that's just my opinion. Meh, it's a typical asian restaurant with sushi. Some reviews here are saying it doesn't compare to the bay area but even the bay area can't compare to the seafood and Chinese food Hawaii, Japan, and China serves being authentic. I give The Wok 4 for being the best chinese restaurant within Fallon but if you compared it to hawaii, hawaii would win compared to most states lol. Great place for Chinese and Sushi. Now, I say Sushi but this isn't the bay area where you know what you get is fresh. I say this is a good restaurant despite of our location. We've dined in and I had the yummy roll which was delicious and the walnut shrimp which was great too. Finally the disappointment came with take out when we ordered chicken rolls appetizers. We were given the chicken separate with a bunch of lettuce for us to do our own rolls. Ordered a meal and received no white rice with my meal only to have a manager get on the phone and basically call me a liar. So I attached an image so they can see the lack of white rice that I guess I have nothing better to do but lie about missing. I was prepared for 3 star sushi and that's definitely what we got. I first asked to sit at the bar and there was no fish displayed, definitely a red flag. The wait staff was so nice and accommodating. Unfortunately the sushi rice was over cooked and felt like it had way too much rice vinegar, it was almost sweet. Do understand somethings are beyond their control but other restaurants in the same town are not near as bad. The last time we went, turned into a 30 min. fiasco waiting to be seated and giving up. Manager is owners daughter and knows little about the business - you cannot talk to the owner so complaints go unheard! Recently picked up and order one item was great, the other could not have been cooked that day = the noodles were mush and had no body. When I went in (the next day) with this dish to complain, the first question they asked was "Did you call last night?", Never offered the refund my money or make some other fix - AND NEVER APOLOGIZED! In town visiting friends for the weekend and was extremely excited when they said let's do sushi for dinner. Well sushi to me includes Sashimi and fresh pieces of fish. I can't eat that much rice. Well the staff were friendly but when I asked for Albacore Sashimi which was not offered on the menu but Albacore Roll was the waitress didn't even really understand or want to deal with it but went and asked if it were possible for me to get slices of Albacore anyways. She returned and to my surprise the chef said yes and was making my order. But when the fish arrived I could tell right away that it wasn't the freshest of fish. Total bummer. When we sat down and told the waitress we were having sushi she said it would be an hour wait because they were filling the to go orders first. I've eaten there three times since I've lived here, all were absolutely awful. 8:30 yesterday and the sweet and sour soup, tasted like undercooked chicken water. The meat was almost Raw and it was inevitable. I ordered the lemon chicken, and I've noticed one thing, whenever you order anything chicken General Tso's or other that they are never cooked in the sauce. They fry up a bunch of breaded chicken and then just dump sauce over it and put it on a plate. Not only was that chicken also horrific and rubbery and watery, half of it was dry as a bone with no salt seasoning or sauce. And even the pork fried rice was undercooked and hard. After previously encountering multiple episodes of violent food poisoning in this remote oasis in the desert, I was incredibly apprehensive at the thought of eatting raw fish in Fallon. When I found out I was bound to go to an all-you-can-eat sushi spot, I was absolutely terrified. Just like you; probably not a local Fallon-ite, in town for a couple weeks and trying to find something decent, I checked out Yelp to see if the place was legitimate. After seeing a few good reviews, I was intrigued. Can it be that a small town in the middle of nowhere which houses such fine establishments like Super Walmart and Pigs in Space has sushi that is not only worth eating, but worth praising? Yes. I am proud of The Wok, because I think of it as an underdog. Despite such disadvantages as being hundreds of miles from the nearest coast, in a town with a permanent population of fewer than nine thousand with as much eastern influence as a John Wayne flick, the place could hang with the best sushi spots I've ever been to. $20 all-you-can-eat sushi includes all rolls, appitisers and dessert Exceptionally friendly service Consistant refills and quick to replenish your plate with more sushi Cool setting and design Optional Chinese dishes Forks and spoons only served on request Clean bathrooms The Wok met a couple key requirements to be considered an outstanding establishment. The waitressess know the menu and can make reccomendations based on customer's questions. The menu is unique and includes house specialties such as the Top Gun Roll (a fairly obvious correlation), the Godzilla Roll (a really cool name for a roll of sushi) and the size-of-a-small-child Green Wave Roll (local high school team)which looks and tastes awesome. All the rolls taste awesome, the Jurassic Roll being my favorite. Most importantly, the food was delicisous and fresh with zero reports of food poisoning. They recommend you order three rolls at a time, and by the end of the night I put away seven large sushi rolls, some mussels, a pot of tea, an order of edamame and an order of green tea ice cream all for $22.50! At any other moderately priced sushi spot, this would have been well over $70 or $80. No matter what your opinion of Fallon is, and despite any misconseptions you have about eating sushi in a remote town that houses a liqour/gun store and the legandary "Choker Charlie", the Wok is a must. 100% satified. I love this place! I've been twice now. Once I sat in the restaurant/dinner section & once I sat at the sushi bar. Both times the service was great, but if I had to pick, I'd say I enjoyed the sushi bar just a tad bit more! What can I say, I'm a talker & this is the perfect place to socialize :D No one was spared, not the sushi chef, the server or the other guests, lol The ambiance is great, the decor is nice, clean & the food has been great so far! There where only 2 little things I said "hmmmm" about, lol. 1 was that my edemame was sprinkled with table salt instead of sea salt, but I've noticed that in several restaurants in NV. 2 is that the tempura roll I got was so fat I looked like a chipmunk storing nuts for winter when I was chewing, lol! Really this was a great find and thank you to Yelp I have a place I have become very addicted too. Having asked around and brought some friends, they too agree that this is the place to go for good food in Fallon. So far I have had 3 meals here and each time they have been exceptional. As far as Chinese food goes, the Mongolian Beef has a good kick to it, the Sweet Spicy Shrimp are exceptional, the vegetable chow main with pan fried noodles are the only thing so far I think I would pass on the next time. The one thing that really got me wanting to try the place though other than Yelp was the crab cheese puffs. You will not be let down, they are very good and something I have found very few places can make them to the level that The Wok has done. Now although the Chinese menu is great the sushi is at the same level of excellence. Not to mention you can not beat $15 for all you can eat for lunch. The two people I was with and myself were seated for over an hour and they didn't slow down our orders at all. I tried the Alaska roll, Jurassic roll, Samurai roll, California Deluxe roll, New York roll, Salmon and Salmon Roe negri, and the list kept going, all of it was of exceptional quality. Not what you would have expected in a small desert town. With this place there is no reason to make the 45 minute trip into Reno to get sushi anymore. All in all you will not be disappointed with this place. Oh and in case all you can eat sushi wasn't enough, you can even get dessert. What tops off sushi better than green tea ice cream!
