Came to service my car and the service advisor named "Franklin" or Frank he told me it's required by law to perform an inspection and do a tire rotation on top of the oil change I said no! Well. I did it. In my 17 years of purchasing used cars (10 or so) I finally got myself a NEW vehicle. The reason I always bought used, was because at first thought, buying a new car can be a intimidating, expensive, and stressful experience. Boy was I wrong, I have never been so comfortable and excited to purchase ANYTHING like I was today at Costa Mesa ford. Phil Chis (coolest sales dude) acted as my family member and not a salesman. He honestly just wanted to see me get in the right truck for my needs. (2019 f250). And then, after literally giving me every discount and incentive known to man, they kept the punches coming with an amazing warranty and service plan that Japanese automakers can't even pull off.. He was also very helpful in explaining all the tech gadgets that came with the car, which helps a lot if you're someone like me that is transitioning from an older vehicle (2005) and aren't used to all the new cool stuff attached to newer vehicles. This is an update to my review below. Horrible service. Let my car sit there for days doing nothing on it. Then said the spark plugs and boots needed to be replaced and charged over $1,000 to do a job we could have done for $80 and 2 hours max. But that would void the warranty(ies) we paid $5,000 for. So we had to approve the work. They tell us the car is ready 10 minutes before they close on Friday, having had it since Tuesday! There is no one to talk to besides the nice service advisor who had no authority and in a hurry to leave. Maybe that is why they didn't wash it after it sat out at the dealership for 4 days. Hoping we would not notice the scratches? Apparently dealerships don't like doing warranty work, especially when you didn't buy your vehicle there. We are going to need a 250 dually or a 350 soon, and had planned to purchase it here, as the dealership is right around the corner from our house. But this is the second time the dealership has treated us horribly in the service department. So I guess I'll have to buy it elsewhere. read more

This is a Ford Dealership. My husband is a loyal Ford customer. Now the NEGATIVE At the least, I am very shocked that such gross misrepresentation was made to me and my family when I contracted to purchase the Lincoln MKZ 2.0H from the Theodore Robins Ford dealership on November 23, 2019. I was led to believe that I needed to have my credit checked even when I already had financing in place to purchase the vehicle. It was further misrepresented to me that the inquiry would be automatically removed. This has been false because such removal has not happened automatically. It has been more than six months to try to resolve this. I have made numerous calls, been transferred from person to person, left voicemail messages, sent text messages and emails and NO ONE has done as he said (i.e. return my calls and remove the inquiry). This is taking too much time to resolve. The hard inquiry on my credit report has prevented me to from moving forward with my own business and it is creating a hardship for me and a hardship to qualify for a loan, especially in the current Covid-19 pandemic situation. It would help me immensely if James Robins and his team could make a goodwill adjustment to remove the hard inquiry from my credit report. AVOID First time I've been to a dealer where they had no interest in making a sale. Was in contact with the dealer about either buying a 2020 Shelby GT500 or GT350 before dropping my car off here to get OEM headlights installed in my 14' Mustang. Needless to say, I have purchased a 2020 GT350 from another dealer purely because of their incompetent, snobby sales team, and their clown show of a service department. The sales department seemed to have 0 desire to make a sale to me. No one would really help me and I had to pretty much go and start talking to someone myself and even then seemed less than interested. When I did talk to them I was straight with them. I had every intention of buying a Shelby from them but told them it will depend on the service department because I deal with the sales maybe one time and the rest is service. Brought my 14' up to get the headlights fixed. Was promised it'd be looked after... Quoted me originally around $2400 for two OEM headlights and then $330 for labor. Got a call hours after I dropped the car off asking for another $1500. Told them no, and got a quote from HB Ford for ~$2500 out the door. Called Theodore back and told Sergio in parts I'm pulling the car. They immediately cut that charge and quoted me less than HB. I asked him why they didn't just give me this quote because this is borderline a phishing scam. He told me it was because "I didn't ask for that price" what...? Then the next day billed my Amex $488 without my consent and when I asked about this they refunded me and said they had no idea why it was charged and they do not keep those records... again, WHAT? The following day they said my car was ready. I picked it up and the headlights did not work (had to bring it back 3 additional times before they illuminated the road correctly) and there was a deep scratch through the paint on the driver side door. Literally the next day went up to another ford dealer and locked in my 2020 GT350. Then when asking about if they got approval to fix my door they said the manager needed to check the cameras but their cameras are down. The service manager does a great job of ducking any sort of conflict. Took over a month to get them to fix the scratch they put in my door. Will never go back. read more

I am very happy with my experience at Theodore Robins Ford. I was in the market for a pre-owned Ford Fusion Energi, and I had contacted (and visited) dealerships all over Southern California to find one with all the features I wanted. I finally found what I was looking for here. When I first emailed, Darren Ricci from the Internet Sales department got right back to me. He informed me that the vehicle had JUST arrived to the dealership and was not ready yet but that I would be more than welcome to come check it out, which I did later that day. He was in on his day off, but was still there to greet me when I arrived. He made me a cup of freshly brewed coffee after a long day and a long drive, which was much appreciated. Since he was with another customer at the time, he introduced me to Phil Chis, who took over from there. I quickly discovered that I was in great hands. Phil took fantastic care of me. I didn't feel like I was at a car lot the whole time. I felt like I had a personal assistant taking care of all the necessary details, making the entire process as pain free as possible. He brought me out to the service area so I could see the car, answered my many questions and made sure I was comfortable with the vehicle and the purchase. Phil went way above and beyond. Even though his shift was almost over, since I had an appointment to get to before we could complete the paperwork, he agreed to go home for a bit, then come back in when I returned almost 3 hours later (rush hour to/from LA). He offered me more coffee and made sure I was comfortable while waiting for the finance guy, Pablo, to be free, and brought me back out to the service area to look at the car again, even though it was up on the lift. Pablo was patient while I crunched numbers and compared terms. I came in with a preapproval for the financing but he was able to get me a slightly better rate, which was nice. After the business aspect was complete, Phil continued to go above and beyond. My vehicle wasn't quite ready yet, still requiring the inspection, a bit of servicing, new tires, and a complete detail, but Phil made sure it was top priority, got it done early, and stayed in contact with me the whole time. I had my new car in gorgeous shape, ready for the beginning of my work week thanks to his efforts. It was even his day off the day it was ready, but he was 100% on the job, giving me updates on ready time, and coming in again when he should have been enjoying his day off. By the time my Energi was back from the detail shop, sparkling clean, the car rental place next door was closed for the day. Phil was again the hero, following me to the airport to drop my rental off there. He helped me move my things from the trunk of the rental to my new car, and even had me stop at the gas station on the way back to the dealership for some fuel on the house. He also took the time (nearing closing time and on his day off!) to acquaint me with all the features of my new (to me) car and be sure I knew how to charge it and operate all of the unfamiliar features. I commend Phil for his outstanding customer service. He almost made me forget the headache of used car shopping I had experienced thus far! The service techs were helpful, you were able to get an appointment in a timely manner, and they would be quick to get you your car back. That is not the case anymore. I used their chat options to make an appointment. The appointment wasn't received on their end, and when I made the follow up call (just to be sure) there was no record of the call and I was forced to schedule another appointment for the following week. I also was informed that even if the particular department (say electrical) isn't available for a few days, you still need to drop your car off to be entered into the que. So you are with out a car for several days! This doesn't make any sense to me. They dropped the ball on my last appointment too. I don't honestly have much good to say about the service department at this dealership. I go through cars often from many brands, and the service at this dealership is some of the most haphazard, poorly managed and poorly executed that I've ever experienced. My 2015 F150 Platinum was in for some standard Service Bulletin and warranty work. Firstly, I received the standard condescending, could not replicate response for 2 of the 4 items that my truck was in for. Secondly, they re-installed the seat cover on my passenger side of my truck extremely poorly and it now looks like an aftermarket seat cover on a 61k truck. In addition, when I showed up to pick up my truck, they couldn't find it for 45 minutes. In the meantime, nearly the entire service staff stood behind their computers seemingly apathetic to the fact that my truck was no where to be found. When they did finally find my truck, it hadn't been washed like i was told it was and I was late for a meeting since returning the loaner and picking up my truck took over 90 minutes. I had to leave post haste, and didn't notice the shoddy work to my seat cover until I was back at work. Would it have been so hard for the service advisor to put eyes on the truck and ensure that the work was performed properly before the customer shows up to pickup their truck? This is a part of the job and a general failure of both dealership service managers and service staff alike. Since then, I've been in contact with the service manager and he assured me things would be taken care of. I've tried numerous times to schedule this service and get a loaner setup and the service adviser I'm dealing with has no ability to follow through and call me back. Honestly, they haven't hit a single mark, kept a single promise, nor returned a single phone call as stated that they would. I almost never do this, but Evan in service is either significantly overloaded or completely incapable of properly managing the vehicles that cross his desk. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but once something has gone wrong, the best answer is to over manage the situation. There is zero effort on the part of this dealership to reach out and make this situation right. As some one who manages people everyday and manages the culture in the offices that are under my purview, I have to say that this is a total failure of job ownership, customer commitment and relentless pursuit of the outcome. I don't have time to micromanage people that I have already paid (warranty) for. Extremely disappointing. Avoid the service department at this dealer. In my opinion, the service department is one that has a culture of, good enough and doing just enough to get the customers out the door. Caveat Emptor. read more

Worst service I've had since getting my car So on March 3rd at 8 am I almost crashed my car because the transmission went out while driving. I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE I called ford to have it towed since it's covered under my warranty. Took them 14 hours to get my car to them. I come here to get my oil changed and they usually have a special going on when I come It's $39.99 for an oil change, rotate tires, change engine oil with up to 6 quarts of motor craft synthetic blend oil, change engine oil filter, perform a multi point inspection( alignment check, test battery condition, measure tire life, top of fluids)and a free carwash and vacuum. Not to mention they have a nice waiting room equipped with 2 tv's comfy couches and complimentary water bottles and a Starbucks coffee machine. Their bathrooms are very nice and clean as well. I was looking for a new suv that was in high demand with low inventory and literally 15 Ford dealers I called were marking up the suv $5,000 to $10,000. I understand the COVID-19 crisis and chip shortage is hurting inventory but it seemed excessive. I called Theodore Robins Ford and The internet manager Curtis Payne told me there are absolutely no mark ups but it was first come first served. They had sold one of the suv the previous night and only had on left on the lot. I asked if they played the "These accessories were already added and the paint protection was already done" game and he said I choose what options I want. I drove straight to the dealer and Curtis was 100 percent up front and I got the suv for msrp plus tax and licensing. They asked if I wanted an extended warranty and I said no thank you and that was the end of the option questions. No pressure and Curtis told me the dealership has been around for 100 years and they don't play the games that other dealerships do.
