The waffles were fluffy and light, and the strawberries were fresh. As for my wife, her home-fried potatoes were crisp and perfectly seasoned, and the coffee is freshly-ground. The best part, though, was the familial sense of belonging that you really can't find anywhere but Little Italy. I'm so glad we chose to come here for breakfast today. CASH ONLY. ATM around the corner. This is a small diner in North End "Little Italy" of Boston. I came here at 11:30am on Saturday, and it was maybe a 10 min wait for 2 people to sit at the window. Line really started to pile up at noon so that the wait was easily 30 min. It's worth the wait! Though to make it easier on yourself, just come at a less popular time. We got the house special musqueca fish stew and breakfast steak and eggs (not the big Brazilian plate ones). The portions are generous. The fish stew is PACKED with white fish, good tomato flavor, and tastes very fresh. It also comes with a bowl of rice and large salad. The steak and eggs comes with toast, home fries, and small coffee. Eggs were cooked just how we asked. The only thing is that we asked for steak to be medium rare, and it was more like medium. Service was friendly, no frills. This is a neighborhood joint. The wait for food was appropriate, not immediate but I wouldn't call it slow either. There's a TV in the corner ceiling. Homey space. Chairs and packed pretty close. Medium noise. You'll be able to chat with friends. Tl;dr: I'd recommend! Good for breakfast and the muqueca fish stew is wonderful. There is a wait in this small restaurant. After your meal, try swinging by Bova's or Mike's pastry nearby for desserts. read more

The North End needs a good local breakfast place and as much as we want it to be Theo's it's not Food is decent, but way over priced. Depending on the day service is ok to just not friendly. Theo is very nice and works really hard, but the main waitress is not friendly and service stink's. I was craving waffles and decided to try Theo's given the yelp photos and ratings. On a Friday mid morning I walked into this cozy restaurant that's owned and managed by Theo and his wife. What made this place special were the regulars who greeted each other by name from 3 year olds to 70 year olds. In addition to Italian, there were other languages spoken by patrons as well. I gave Theo's 4 stars mainly for how welcoming and down to earth it is. The waffle with strawberries were pretty in appearance but a bit rubbery. Found this place based on the reviews and proximity to our hotel! We got there at about 915am on a Saturday and there was no line. We were sat in about 5 min, but as soon as we were seated a line started to form. When we left the line was probably a 40 minute wait so plan on that. The food was good. Nothing crazy special about the food, but was good hearty breakfast food! We ordered the breakfast special, super breakfast special, and eggs Benedict! All were very good. Staff was very nice and the service was good. Had a good conversation with a staff member there while eating. Felt like a mom and pop restaurant! And was definitely as described...a COZY corner! Offering standard breakfast in a tiny neighborhood diner-like joint, nestled in Boston's North End, Theo's is a tiny restaurant with lots of charm. Frequented by locals, many so familiar that they go behind the counter to get their own coffee, this is a social place where the neighborhood congregates. Not only do all kinds of people stop in to chat, but people come and go multiple times as they do their errands ... in the course of 20-minutes, I saw several people come by more than once, some 3 or 4 times. It's clear that everyone knows everyone ... except the tourists. I ate there shortly after 6:00 am, so there weren't many non-locals, and it was lots of fun. The breakfast was standard diner food -- eggs, toast from grocery-store quality bread, bacon or hash (probably canned) ... nothing exceptional, nothing bad ... just a good portion of very traditional American breakfast. BTW, the restaurant is TINY ... but they open really early, so there should be no problem getting breakfast if you're an early riser. And one more thing - not sure whether they take credit cards, but I suspect they don't -- I suspect they are cash only -- everyone I saw paid with cash. read more

At first I felt like everyone was super nice and helpful. Then I realized shortly after that they overcharged me 13 dollars and we waited over an hour for our order that was a to go order. They're a cash only place and don't provide receipts, so before you pay, please pay attention to what you're being charged. We were from out of state and they knew that and I feel like that's why the woman at the register took the opportunity to up charge so much. Very disappointed and will not be returning here on my next trip to Boston . This order should have been 30-32 dollars and we were charged 45. Listen, this is a 30 seat restaurant, with another 20 outside. It's incredibly popular, and the lines start earlier. There's 2 cooks though, so plan to relax at your table, as ticket times push 20+. If you have 15 minutes for breakfast on a Saturday morning, go elsewhere. Omelets and pancakes are great. I recommend the picanha steak and eggs, though specify picanha. Saying steak and eggs gets you a piece of sirloin and eggs, which are still fantastic. We'll be back. read more

Really great low key breakfast here. My mom and I both got the breakfast special: 2 eggs, choice of breakfast meat, choice of toast, breakfast potatoes and coffee! Great breakfast spot in the North End! Luckily we got an indoor table as we came at just the right time. There is also outdoor seating, but it was a bit cool for our taste. Coffee was hot and the cup was kept full - pretty much what we need in the morning! I had the Eggs Benedict with capers, perfect and piping hot! Husband had the steak and eggs, he ate it all. Generous portions of home fries, and they made mine extra crispy at my request. Most of all, I enjoy supporting local business with my dollars. We got a few looks from other diners when we came in (husband is a tall, dark black man and that often happens in largely white spaces) but the staff were great. Older gentleman who I assume was Theo showed me to the restroom, which was down stairs and around corners, it was an adventure! Highly recommend supporting this business. read more

This place is just what the doctor ordered. Went to a show by north station with a couple friends; next morning we needed a solid breakfast spot. Looked up this place, ten minute walk, let's go. It's a little tight inside, a little crowded but only because of how tiny this place is! Seriously so cute. The menu consists of traditional breakfast fare, but you can also order a side meatball for $3.50, this being Little Italy and all. And they also had a full lunch menu, with grinders, pasta and more. We ordered the veggie omelet, the "big boy," and the corned beef and eggs with hollandaise, their version of an Irish eggs Bennie. Also orange juice and hot chocolate, both excellent. Everything was delicious. My friend's sausage links were perfectly cooked. The staff were attentive and friendly and offered prompt service. Overall, wonderful experience.
