I am still looking for a go-to coffee shop in the City for when I need to come down from CT and park myself for a while (ah, the life of a graduate student). Needless to say, I'll have to keep looking. Think doesn't have wireless (understandably, as they are probably looking to fend off perchers like me - but i swear I am always conscious of the 1-drink/item per hour decorum required). Their cafe space is also extremely crowded, with tables spaced mere inches apart. As a result, you end up coming in for a relaxing mid-afternoon coffee and then you are subjected to insufferable conversation from the college girls next to you who "Just LOVE inspirational quotes, OMG." There are also no outlets to plug in a laptop (again, understandably). I didn't have any of their treats, which looked pretty good. I had a cup of tea, which is pretty hard to mess up. If anyone can recommend a solid coffee spot to get a few hours work done, I'd really appreciate it! I have my usual hang-outs in New Haven, but have to come into the city regularly for meetings. read more

Came in starved and loved the coffee-house-with-boobs-on-the-wall vibe. Unfortunately pre-11 am they only have two foods to choose from (other than an underwhelming pastry selection) for breakfast: a bagel (with a good selection) and cream cheese for less than 2 dollars, or oatmeal for like six. I just wanted something melty, saw the awesome wine/beer and grilled cheese board and thought my morning was made. Couldn't get it before 11. Fine, an annoying latte made by a hot barista will work. No outlets and hard to find wifi, very tiny tables and what felt like dozens of metal death seats intent on tripping me made it a short visit for me and my laptop, so I couldn't get a chance to try the grilled cheese anyway. read more

This is the last Think in the city I had yet to go. I like the high ceilings and separated seating from the counter. And you can't beat the outdoor seating! It feels a bit rustic inside. It definitely has the least space for seating, so good luck! read more

All of this and they're still able to make a great cup of coffee. Go here, if you plan to meet a friend or just want to hang out for a while. There's the added bonus of outdoor seating. Admittedly, to me, a Think is a Think is a Think is a Think. Same product. Different locations. I rarely find myself near the Bowery, as I am more West Village-centric when traveling downtown; I usually patronize my beloved 8th Avenue location. This location is a bit smaller and cozier than the rest, but good nevertheless, with your usual friendly, funky baristas. The small area of outdoor searing is a plus; even on a chilly February eve, a few patrons partook with hot cups of coffee in hand. It is well known among my friends: I am a chai addict, with Think being one of my chief addiction enablers. Little did I know they make an epic grilled cheese sandwich as well! Yeah, "coffee shop" and "grilled cheese" aren't exactly a match made in Heaven, but slapping some aged cheddar and tomato on rustic bread and melting it on a panini press...it's a nice, hot, tasty bite to eat! In an area where I was finding myself hard pressed just to find a pizza slice joint for a last-minute bite to eat, Think came through. Perhaps I should regularly start a grilled cheese and chai latte diet regimen. Sounds healthy to me! read more

Neighborhood cafe with a cozy vibe. It has a rustic feel with brick walls, wooden floors, and marbled tables. Got here around noon and it was not too busy was able to claim a spot to work on my laptop. I recommend the Spanish coffee ( it has a hint of sweetness with a velvety texture) and the salmon bagel ( fresh salmon, cream cheese ,tomatoes, bean sprouts) . The workers here are chilled and are welcoming. is There isn't any WiFi or outlets so come with fully charged electronics. Its probably for the best or else this place would be crowded by laptop users who only order water and stay for the rest of the day and I wouldn't have been able to sit and enjoy an afternoon lunch. read more

For as many times as I've passed this place, it is fortunate I didn't find out about the coffee here earlier. Thumbs up. I stopped in for a pick-me-up after a bad day and ordered a chocolate chocolate chip cookie & a red eye, on a whim - not knowing what a red eye was. It is a delicious blend of 2 shots of espresso & a cup of coffee (zing!). Right up my alley (although maybe not great for 8:45pm). The cookie was great. The food options looked good but were a bit more expensive than I wanted to pay tonight. Vegan options, fair trade coffee and a cool side note: "10% of after tax profits at this location go to the Grand Street Settlement". Cool. I hear this place fills up quickly - it's only half full on this Thursday night. I also hear they shoot a lot of movies at this location, but I'm the most famous person here presently. But I could see the allure in the the location and aesthetics; there is art on the walls, wooden benches, and a good vibe. Plus outdoor seating. A solid morning-afternoon-evening spot! Think does a solid cup of actually flavorful coffee, has a few nice beers on tap for $ 4-6 anytime of day, some various wines and a rotation of bites: breakfast (a better than average selection of pastries, a generous bowl of oatmeal with steamed milk, bagels with a few different options) lunch (couple different salads, healthy sandwiches and baguettes, AND customizable made to order grilled cheeses, and a daily selection of soups served with a hunk of good bread) and obviously as any coffee shop should, plenty of sweet treats like cookies, quickbreads and slices of pie to go with your beverage. No wifi but no matter... if you dont need your computer, you can definitely hang out for a good bit with a latte and a book or friend. read more

I'm often accused (and not surprisingly so) of being something of a Starbucks addict. But the truth is, I'd always prefer to patronize a small, independent, high-quality coffeehouse, than the multinational corporate venue, any day. Our hosts suggested a java run as we headed from Brooklyn to midtown, so three of us ran in to Think Coffee on Bowery while the driver staffed the car. This place is one that offers the kind of attention to detail that also gives the barista time to strike up an honest conversation with customers. It may slow down the process a bit, but the interaction adds to the experience, and the resulting drink was worth the wait. I only wish we hadn't been rushing between Point "A" and Point "B" when we stopped in, because this is the kind of place I'd adore to kick back, people-watch and enjoy the vibe of the place as I lap up a latte or two. read more

Quaint little coffee shop. I enjoyed the very large tea bag for my peppermint tea. They didn't have agave but offered me some type of syrup honey but I don't think it was vegan. The seating arrangement was extremely tight we were basically sitting with others and they were very much in our conversation but they couldn't help it, so no one was upset about that. If you are looking for privacy... not here. I'd try this place again... not sure that my mind is made up on this place as of yet. Def a place to try if you are a coffee lover. I am a standard drip pour guy so espressos and the likes are lost on me. Based on my friend this was a good choice for a pickmeup . There is just one guy making all the coffee concoctions so don't expect speedy production. There is a nice outside area you can enjoy your caffeine and watch the word, although there doesn't seem to be anyone cleaning up so it is a bit of a DIY arrangement. Whewwww! Who knew that it would be extremely hard to find a coffee shop in SoHo with a decent (not large) sized seating area? What does one do at coffee shops anyway, other than to sit down and chat up people they are meeting? My friends and I were in SoHo and wanted to find a coffee shop to sit down, grab some munchies and drink a warm bevvie to warm up. I didn't realize that this was going to turn into a mission. We stopped by at Gasoline Alley Coffee, La Colombe and a few other spots, only to find limited (to no) seating and a long wait to order coffee. UNTIL... we stopped in to Think Coffee. This place had a decent sized are (I guess, large for SoHo) and less than a 3 minute wait to order. Mission accomplished! The seating area has a few tables and chairs mostly all wooden. It can get a bit congested depending on the day but it was the best option out of the rest of the coffee shops we stopped by at. I ordered some healthy bar which was alright but too sweet for my taste. My friends loved their coffees (which is what I should have gotten instead). read more

With all the holier than though art coffee shops in Brooklyn it is hard to pick out the gems. Think seems to have once been among the better coffee shops in NYC. The spacious setting reminds me of some of my favorite coffee shops in Nashville, however Think seems to have become neglected by it's employees. The coffee is top notch and the cookies are large and delicious, however (at least today) the floors have become extremely dirty, the simple syrup is empty, and the espresso was poured into the frothed milk with the grace of a starbucks employee. Still as I sit here I am enjoying the atmosphere and charm of what I believe it must have once been. Also they are open extremely late which is a huge plus for those late night caffeine fixes. Bottom line? Think is a charming coffee shop with delicious espresso and a great location. It's worth checking out if you are in the Bowery. Though you might not help but find some sparkle of the dream of Think has faded away with the jading of it's employees. read more

Cozy cafe. Their coffee and lattes are great (every purchase=donation to a local non-profit school/settlement project). Their grilled cheese sandwiches are actually grilled cheese paninis, which is fine by me lo!l I enjoyed their grilled cheese with basil pesto spread. Also, a cafe that serves alcohol is definitely coolbeans and still unique in the city. There should be more of them! However, taking a star away for limited indoor seating due to people getting a bit too comfortable in here. Delicious, reasonably priced espresso. Huzzah. There are 2 reasons why I didn't give this place 4 stars. First, my partner-in-crime and I declared our drinks were to stay, but they put my drink in a to-go cup. For a place that has so many eco-friendly declarations, they could be a little more consistent. Second, the brownie said partner and I split made us both ill afterward. Very nice little coffee shop in the bowery where there seems to be a distinct lack of good coffee. Think Coffee Bowery is also a good alternative to the NYU student swamped mercer street location. They've got a great selection of all the standard coffee drinks as well as a nice little cafe. Great service and quirky coffee people abound. Also the crazy people that occasionally haunt the bowery are always fun to watch whilst sitting on the patio. My only complaint is that there isn't any WiFi, but it's also kind of nice to disconnect for a while too! read more

Was staying at the Standard East Village just down the street and stumbled across this place on an early Saturday morning; what a treat Think Coffee is. It's the kind of place where you might meet a friend, or lounge and read the paper over a nice cup of coffee. Ample indoor and outdoor seating. Kudos to this place for having designated recycling and compost bins. It's something this San Francisco native can appreciate. If you're a student or remote worker who loves occupying a table for hours...please stay away from here; I like this place as it is. Check Think Coffee out and you won't be dissappointed. Cappuccino here is just as delicious as the other locations -- great espresso and always made hot. As for the inside, its much smaller than the Think Coffee on Mercer, and the tables here are tiny. If you get hungry, try the grilled cheese with Swiss cheese (4/5). read more

My hipster-heart doesn't even care that there is more than one location. Think Coffee Bowery has a lot to offer with its sandwiches, exceptional lattés, and plethora of seating (both indoors and out.) You could easily make this a quick stop on your way to work for a quick coffee and a bite. I know that I will! Plus, you can't argue with its cute location on Bowery near Bleeker. Think Coffee Bowery is a wonderful addition to the Think family. Not only is this second location, quieter, more mature, and more manageable than its sister shop, they make great drinks! I usually am there on early morning weekends when they are swamped and the baristas, especially the ones actually making the coffee, not just behind the registers, are wonderful and sometimes surly. I don't take it personally. But it's great to be recognized by face and by drink. The exposed brick and the sunlight make it delightful. I have no idea about the wi-fi but I always see peeps there with their laptops. Great coffee shop for sure. They also donate 10%-15% of their profit to support local nonprofit organizations. read more

Of all the locations, this seems to be the easiest to find a seat, and also has outdoor seating which is a perk the others don't offer. Decent coffee and good bagels. The space was tight with lots of tables but very little space to move around. Bagels were overpriced. Charging $2.50 for a bagel and then another $1 for butter (or $1.50 for cream cheese) is ridiculous. Coffee was fine but not great. I love the fact that Think is reducing its environmental footprint while giving back to the community. All of their coffee is fair trade and all of the cups, packaging, etc. are either compostable or recyclable. Also, they give 10% of proceeds to the Grand Street Settlement. The best part of breakfast was the fresh squeezed OJ. The worst part was the snarky hipster baristas. It looked like filling up that cup with coffee was causing him undue pain. read more
