Went to Thirsty Beaver on a Wednesday night with some girl friends. No wait, we got a table for 6 in the back. It was really hot out thankfully there was a little breeze. Not sure if they have AC I'm hoping the do for the really hot days. The place is large and open with plenty of seating as well as out door seating. Staff was very friendly. Our waitress did a great job with checking on drinks etc. They have a nice beer selection and even made a few chocolate martinis for my friends. Food was good. I had a Mac and cheese dish with chicken. It was very cheesy and flavorful. My friends seemed to enjoy their dishes too. The only down side was the volume. It was very loud and a bit warm. I'd definitely try it again probably on a week night and maybe a cooler night. I imagine the weekends are busy! read more

These wings are sure to satisfy on all levels. From the aroma coming off the plate, to the dropping sauce coming off the wings, The Thirsty Beaver provides a damn decent buffalo wing. You Won't see any wet naps but they make up for it with real linen napkins. The sauce was more slathered on than most so it made for a more slippery wing. On St. Patrick's Day I was part of a pipe band doing a pub crawl and the Thirsty Beaver gave us corned beef and cabbage egg rolls. Think on that one for a second. Right? Delicious. Then the day after we were in a parade and stopped in there after for lunch. I ordered the Pink Pride sandwich. Top ten best sandwich I've ever eaten. The staff was all very nice and prompt. The beav is a nice watering hole. That being said, the food isnt great and the acoustics are terrible in there. When that place fills up, the noise is a bit much. (minus one star) However, its got a really cool log cabin/beaver damn vibe and decor, the selection of beers and ciders are pretty good, and its got a nice outdoor seating area. I wouldn't come here for dinner but its a good place to meet friends for a bite and drinks or watch the game. My husband and I just visited the thirsty beaver for the first time. The food was good but our waitress wasn't attentive at all. My husband and I both had empty glasses for 1/2 of our meal and were not checked on to see how the food was until we had completed our meal. The restaurant was very loud even though there weren't many people inside. Overall not a great experience. I am not sure we will be returning. read more

Food between the Cranston and Smithfield locations were inconsistent. My wife ordered a sandwich that was advertised as being in Texas toast and it came on thin white bread. They told us they were out of fish and pulled pork. The biggest problem is they charge for soda refills. No one charges for soda refills anymore. The Cranston location does not charge for refills but Smithfield does. My wife and I each got a soda with one refill each and we paid $9.00 just in soda. The few times we have gone the food has varied greatly and just based off the cost of having to pay for refills we will not be returning. It's a shame because the place has a great atmosphere. read more

Have gotten take out a few times from this location. Got the buffalo chicken wrap a couple times and the last time we got the ticker chicken sandwich. The food was good no complaints. But the staff...... so honestly the first few times if it wasn't for the continence, the food being good, and trying to give the benefit of doubt that the server maybe had a bad day we wouldn't go back. But after our last visit yesterday. I think we are all done. For the 3rd time the service was horrible. You feel as if your bothering them or they just have a grudge against you. So the first time I went in and picked up the food the girl was not welcoming at all so I just figured. Ayy everyone has a bad day the second time my girlfriend went in and the girl was not pleasant or welcoming again. The third time I went in and a different girl was at the bar and I figured ok this should be a better experience. Nope felt like I bothered her. I was told 15 minutes on the phone ( wasn't busy either 2 tables) and I got there in 20. And after bro g there 10 minutes ( now 30 minutes) I had to ask about my food (I asked nicely do you know how much longer) I was told ( with out her checking ) it will be right out 7 minutes later it she comes out with 2 To go containers with no bad or napkins or utensils and hands me the containers. I didn't even ask for the napkins or a bag I just left I was aggravated. So the last time I sent my girlfriend in again and this time ( to keep it short ) we were told 15 minutes got there in 25 and it was a total of 45 and no apologizes and again no hospitality. The experience i had at this restaurant was awful, i visit many restaurants and this was a local restaurant i was particularly excited about visiting hoping it would become a regular spot for myself and family. We went on a week day around 4, when we arrived there was only one other family receiving there check and a couple at the bar. Myself and family (3 adults and 2 preschool aged children) placed our order for drinks and appetizer as well as dinner. We waited about 35 minutes and our appetizer was served (loaded tots) we were told the shift was changing so there was a bit of a back up. Understanding but not really happy with our service for a dead restaurant we waited patiently. When our food arrived 45 minutes later (a plate of shepards pie, and order or nachos and a kids meal) our food was cold. Including the cast iron pan that held the shepards pie. Our $19 plate of nachos was inedible. We were disgusted we complained and they did comp the food we did not touch and we left hungry after being there for an hour. Needless to say we will not bother giving this place a second chance, i dont think there is any hope with this place. read more

This restaurant went up in my town a couple of years ago but I hadn't been - just seemed more like a loud bar, which didn't interest me. One day looking for something new and convenient, I looked up the menu and was surprised by the variety and what sounded like different and quality food so we went. While I'm not a fan of the decor (I love me some comfy booths or cushy chairs, and not hard wooden ones), it was tavern-style, very no-frills which I don't mind as long as the service and food makes up for it, and it did. The service was just right - enough visits to keep checking but not too much, and the food was stellar. We started off with the crispy sweet chili cauliflower, which was fantastic. My mom and I ordered a fish sandwich and Peachy Jam brisket sandwich, respectively, which we split. The fish sandwich was excellent but the peachy jam brisket was overly sweet. Too much jam, all mixed in with the meat, when it should have just been spread on the bun. Otherwise, it was good. Side of spinach, which was no frills but I liked it. Daughter got a turkey burger with sweet potato fries and she thought it was great. We also (all three of us) shared ONE DESSERT, a bananas foster bread pudding with ice cream. It was huge - a regular portion, we were told - but big enough for all three of us to share and eat our fill after a satisfying meal. We will be going back for sure. read more

Normally we enjoy the wings and draft beer. Great selection of beer. However, last night was HORRIBLE! There was a bubble hockey tournament going on and all we could hear were screaming kids! I was prompted to write this review when I came to this page tonight, preparing to place my 2nd order. The first time we tried the Thirsty Beaver was through the RI Food Fights Wings over Providence campaign. This place is aces for wings, no doubt. Buffalo Wild Wings and Boneheads can suck it. I never understood why so many people love those places. My pet peeve, when it comes to wings, is undercooked skin. My wings need to have crispy skin. I will note, the reason I didn't give 5 stars was for just that reason. We tried 4 different flavor/ styled wings. In addition to sauces, you can also choose whether your wings get a rub, no rub, swimming in sauce, or light sauce. Out of the 4 choices, 1 style had the undercooked skin I'm talking about. When a restaurant pumps out wings like they do here, though, it's expected at times if they want to keep the patrons happy with the food's timing. People get cranky when they are hungry and waiting too long for food. My favorite combo on this night was the Maple Brown Sugar/ Sriracha wings. I reached out of my Buffalo comfort zone during this Food Fight event and now know, I love a sweet/ spicy mix. The sweet chili were also a close second. The decor of this place is adorable too. It looks like a log cabin inside and out. It's a casual spot, with peanut shells on the floor, but it's cheffing up some seriously high end morsels. For appetizers, the Buffalo Cauliflower and Hand Cut Potato Chips were both bangin or as the kids say now, "smackin'". Tonight, the hubs and I are both getting the Mac Daddy: Homemade Mac and Cheese made with Gouda and topped with barbeque potato chip crumbs. I opted out of the crumbs because barbeque is not really my thing, but come on....who doesn't love macaroni and/ or Gouda. As you you can, there isn't much about this joint that I don't love. I can easily say, this is best new restaurant to open in Little Rhody in a long time. I'll choose their great food, decent prices and casual vibe ANY DAY over any of the new hipster spots opening on the hill or downtown. There are now two Thirsty Beavers. We decided to leave since the waitress wasn't even taking our order. A simply AMAZING job by the entire staff! We had 44 people deciding where to eat on a Saturday night. Last hockey tournament in RI, we ate at the Cranston location (also excellent!) so I gave them a call. Within 20 minutes they called me back, said they couldn't accommodate that evening but she took the liberty to call the Smithfield location and book us. We arrived to a perfect set up - team at one table - adults nearby at another & were seated immediately. There was never a panicked or aggravated look on any staff's face - Alexis and Victoria (and a male whose name escapes me, sorry) were over the top; always smiling and courteous, even with the chaos that comes with 44 people. We ordered by jersey number - 15 bills. Hiccups with that many people are expected, but excusable (missing drink, app) and were quickly corrected. Menu had something for everyone & came out quickly, kids had a great time with bubble hockey game. Everyone was relaxed and had a great time. Plenty of parking. Just an amazing job by the staff.
