Can't believe this place lasted this long in this neighborhood! In a way I actually can since the local redneck Gator fans can make it all happen! I love the Gators and this place rules. Feels like you are trapped in the swamp when youre in here but thats expected when you step into a place called the Thirsty Gator. Drinks are super cheap and food is all straight bar food. Apparently they have good wings which i have yet to get. I love the decorating in this place cause it's very college and every single thing in here is blue and orange. Seems like nothing has really been updated since 1986. Workers seem original since day 1 and they are the nicest people!! The atmosphere here must be alot of fun during football season. KNOWN FOR THE UYSTUHS!!

This is a hole in the wall oyster dive bar. It has been here for 37 years, and the owner was the one preparing the oysters. You will easily miss the place, right off the main drag but nothing that would scream "oyster bar" unless you are a gator fan. Came in on a Sunday night, not a lot of people. Place is your typical no frills dive bar: pool table, electronic darts, and I believe they might have live music on certain days. Ordered 6 oysters from Louisiana, it was mid size version. I had them med steamed. One thing that I noticed was the oyster had a funky smell. Still went ahead and ate them. It did not taste fishy, slights salty. The cocktail shrimp was huge, firm and fresh. Complemented well with the sauce and hot sauce. Overall, a great place to hang out. My only disappointment is the oyster funky smell. I will come back and try another batch and try the other food.

The food here is great! The service is good and quick. I had clam chowder and also the oysters. I was starving so I forgot to take pictures of my food. I will be back soon and make sure I get more pictures. Will continue coming here for my oyster fix!

I've lived in East Orlando for 15 years, heard all the good reviews but never took the time to stop by and check Thirsty Gators out. Well, boy what a fool I've been. Hands down some of the best oyster I've ever tasted. Cold, fresh and shucked right in front of us. Not to mention some of my favorite beer selection. Plenty of tvs to watch your game on, and if you're a Gators fan you'll be at home.

Had an early morning follow-up doctor's appointment the other day and received the news everyone…read morewants to hear, a clean bill of health and a "keep doing what you're doing." Naturally, I celebrated by heading to Hideaway for breakfast. While I'm not a regular, I've been visiting Hideaway for years. The original location across the street had a classic smoke-filled dive bar atmosphere, and I could tell stories all day about memorable experiences there. Those stories are best saved for another time. The new location is unquestionably an upgrade in comfort and appearance, though it lacks some of the character and smoke that made the old place so memorable. Fortunately, the things that matter most remain intact. The beer is still ice cold, the drinks are solid, and the food is consistently above average at prices that are hard to argue with. This particular morning, I grabbed a seat at the bar and took advantage of their $5 breakfast burrito (available before 9 AM). The menu lists bacon or ham as protein options, but I was also offered sausage, which I happily chose along with the eggs and cheese. I'm glad I did. The sausage was nicely rendered with crisp edges that delivered little flavor bombs throughout the burrito. Wanting to dress things up a bit, I asked for pico de gallo. My server laughed and replied, "This is a dive bar," before offering salsa instead. Fair enough. The salsa, combined with a generous squeeze of their hot sauce, turned out to be exactly what the burrito needed. In fact, it was so good I briefly considered ordering a second one to go. Then I could practically hear my doctor whispering in my ear, advising restraint, so I reluctantly passed. For those unfamiliar with Hideaway, it's also a major Miami Dolphins fan destination. Whether you're a Dolphins fan or not, I highly recommend experiencing one of their game-day watch parties at least once. The atmosphere is electric and one of the more unique sports-viewing experiences around. My only minor gripe was being charged an extra dollar for the small container of salsa, and it wasn't even pico de gallo. Not enough to ruin an otherwise enjoyable visit, but enough to earn a raised eyebrow. Overall, a great breakfast, a little nostalgia, and a fitting way to celebrate a positive doctor's visit.
