This is the viral lunch spot--I was curious to see if it would live up to the hype. I was expecting long lines when I went for a weekday lunch, and although it did extend outside of the store, it moved fairly quickly. The total wait time to both order and receive our food was maybe only 25 min. They had a variety of bowls to choose from, all around $17. I got the miso salmon bowl and added chilli jam for $1. It was good, it definitely felt healthy as it's loaded with red cabbage and carrots. The miso salmon was perfectly cooked, with a sweet glaze. I kind of wished the bowl had more variety in toppings and that they weren't so much extra. Adding seaweed salad or extra avocado costs $1.50. The avocado in my bowl did come oxidized--the taste was fine, but it didn't look as fresh as I was expecting. I also tried the mango ginger soda, which was a nice refreshing seltzer. The taste was very light, so it paired nicely with the bowl. My friend got the yuzu drink and she also enjoyed hers. Overall, the bowl was solid. It didn't wow me or necessarily live up to the tiktok hype, but I'm glad I tried it. I would definitely add the chilli jam if you enjoy spice, it really gave the bowl a different dimension. read more

They're doing something right-- the food is fresh, the line is out the door, the employees are friendly. For a fast-casual place, it's a little on the pricier side (my bowl usually costs ~$19 with sauce etc.) but I think its worth it. Fresher than most other poke bowl places downtown. The employees are kind and accommodating. Food is mediocre. The "roasted" tofu in my bowl was barely cooked. This is a fast casual concept with eat-in sitting but no restrooms for customers. Most of the tables are communal, and there is no place for customers to wash their hands. Not providing a basic facility like a bathroom shows contempt for the people who frequent your business and disturbing disregard for hygiene. read more

Get the O.G. bowl - it is the O.G. for good reason - but i recommend subbing out the protein for their miso glazed salmon. Their veggie tofu avocado bowl was not as strong so if you are a vegetarian, I'd recommend trying something else. I ordered a custom bowl with half cabbage half rice, braised beef, and added the chili jam. That ran a bit under $20 with tax, which is on the higher end of fast casual build your own bowl places. But this bowl was easily the best. From the tenderness of the braised beef to every to single topping and the dressing, everything was top notch. It took about 15 minutes to make and seating inside is fairly limited, but we were able to snag a seat by the time our bowl was made. This is classic city gentrification food. It's just a bunch of veggies in a bowl with no real depth of flavor that is entirely overhyped. I got the Sophie's way bowl and although the chili jam is great, the food just is not worth the long line outside and long wait inside. I didn't get a picture of my bowl but I felt very unsatisfied after eating, and their chicken has zero flavor. My boyfriend got the miso salmon protein and it just was not that good. He would give it a 7/10 while I give it a 5/10. Do with that what you will there are plenty of other places in the city to get better food for way more reasonable pricing!! read more

Was excited to try this place and was very disappointed. We made two create your own bowls and each came wrong. Both had the wrong bases and both had the wrong dressings. Unfortunately there was no seating available and more people just waiting for seats that we left to eat elsewhere so by the time we discovered the errored food it was too late. Additionally, there is no bathroom available. For the price of these bowls I'd expect them to come correctly and for ample seating and restrooms. The location is in a great spot. Long lines during your typical hours with friendly ppl and the inside is fun and lively. Flavor was good for the chili lime crudo but only two things that were so-so... the rice wasn't cooked properly and you get a small portion of fish. Ordered the chili chicken and didn't understand why it was called that because it didn't have any chili in it... none of their 'chili jam'. Food tasted just fine but the portion was small for $17 and there was very very minimal protein. I think I saw like a total of 5 pieces of chicken. Also, the whole Japanese branding of the place doesn't really seem necessary given how like the majority of the ingredients available for the bowls aren't traditionally Japanese. Tasted closer to a classic Chinese American chicken salad. Again, the food wasn't bad at all, just didn't quite live up to the hype or the price. It's good but you are paying a premium for this bowl. I got the O.G. Bowl with salmon sashimi, there were like 10 shreds of sashimi, so beware of that. Overall taste was there, but other establishments will give you a bigger portion for $16.40 before tax. My sister got the Miso Salmon bowl which did taste good as well. Ended up creating my own bowl: half mixed leaves, half brown rice with carrots, spicy broccoli, sweet potato, cucumber, & edmame with roasted sesame dressing, roasted tofu ($2.50 extra WOAH), and umami nuts for a total price of about $17. Wish the protein add-ons were not an extra charge, but very typical with build you own bowl places nowadays. The seating is not too bad but do not expect to find an open table if you bring 3 friends with you. Wish there was a better system to call out when orders are ready...like how am I supposed to hear you over a crowd of people waiting around and people sitting and eating... ummmm. But, do keep your receipt food ticket so you can track which food is yours! Glad I didn't have any cross contamination since I have a seafood allergy and at poke-like places something always happens but not here ha ha ha! SO I love this place for that. As for the bowl, it is definitely very filling and yum yum yummy. However, with the price point of $17, I can't keep on buying something like this but it is very typical wherever you go.
