Always consistent in taste ! Excellent meat , fish and sushi ! I have never been disappointed eat in or take out

I went to dinner at Thom Thom with some friends after work yesterday. I have heard many things about how good this restaurant is, but I was truly shocked! We ordered many different dishes and I can honestly say that not one of them was anything less than amazing. Their sushi was on par with the best I've ever had. They make homemade garlic naan that is to die for. We shared a mushroom and goat cheese pizza which my friends loved despite previously not enjoying goat cheese. After all of the appetizers we ordered, we also got some incredible, juicy, tender filet mignon, as well as delicious crusted talapia. The service was also of the utmost quality. Our waitress was extremely attentive and helpful in choosing our drinks and food. All in all I can say that I had a phenomenal dining experience! I will certainly be going back soon. read more

Let me start by saying the food is consistently good here. However, the service was so bad for so many couples on Valentine's Day that it hindered many of their dinner and especially mine. We made 6:45 reservations and waited 45 min to be seated. There were at least a dozen other people in the same situation as it seems as though they double booked their tables as every single table was taken when we showed up. I asked how long the wait would be when we checked in and they said in 15 min check back with us to see how much longer. I checked back in 15 min and we waited another half hour. It looked like the people that were making a big fuss got seated within 10 min and those that didn't just stood there waiting forever. I don't think it's right to overbook especially on an occasion like Valentine's Day. The management didn't seem to care either. Offered no apologies and just said it is what it is. Once we got seated the service was extremely rushed wanted our drink and food order at once and didn't see the waitress again until the check came. I asked for bread because tables around us were getting but not us, even those that sat after us. She said ok one min. We got our apps and still no bread when the table next to us got seconds. I asked the buss boy and received right away. For an easy $200 bill for two people, you expect a certain level of service and thom thom did not come close to delivering. Extremely disappointing and will probably not be back as it left such a bad taste. read more

I came here as I delivery driver to pick up food for a customer, I walked into the restaurant to 6-7 having a close conversation with no masks on sitting at the bar with the only one wearing a mask was a man sitting at a table near the bar I think he worked there. Not to mention I saw a worker TAKE OFF HIS MASK behind the bar and tell another delivery driver just to take the food off the table because he didn't feel like putting his mask back on. I just walked out and told the customer, who hopefully canceled, this is super gross and negligent. And I was actually thinking about coming here after this was over. People should not be able to gather here and be that close without masks and gloves on. NOT SANITARY!! Don't order from here if they are this loose with social distancing and masks especially if with raw food. I'm not accepting orders from here or going here as a customer after this. read more

My friend Mike and I were tasked by our wives to find a "L.I. Restaurant Week" place to have dinner together. After searching through the menus, we decided that Thom Thom's, a place we had enjoyed previously, provided a good selection, all from their regular menu. We wound up finding a parking spot in front of their building (there is a municipal lot nearby if you are not so lucky). We were seated immediately at a quiet table near the sushi chef and bar. Our server/bartender/ law school student was most pleasant and helpful as she poured "Whiskey Old Fashions" for our spouses which they both enjoyed. For dinner, I had what Mike had, which was Kung Pao Calamari, nicely fried with a not too spicy peanut sauce and a grilled to a medium rare, as ordered, marinated very tender delicious skirt steak. My wife ordered the chef's special sushi roll appetizer, which was excellent and was enough to make it a meal in itself. For her entrée she chose a nicely baked salmon. Mike's wife had a fresh salad and a wonderful roasted chicken. We usually try to limit having any dessert, but with restaurant week, it is almost always part of the deal, (I wish some of these special menus would provide a choice of perhaps a salad or soup instead of dessert). Anyway, the Molten Lave Cake was great and the Warm Apple Crisp one of the best desserts I have ever had. Thom Thom is a great restaurant. I came here with my girlfriend and we enjoyed the food. Spacious restaurant with live music depending on day. They've got Steaks, Seafood, and even Sushi! They also have a great drink menu (bottled beer, tap, wine, cocktails) For starters- There's a big hype around the Kung Pao Chicken- so we tried it, but we weren't THAT intrigued. It was good but if you're familiar with Asian food- it's not that special (sorry) Besides that, we had their Lobster Bisque. It was good. Very creamy. For entrees, we got a New York Strip Steak and the Chilean Sea Bass. VERY HAPPY with the both of them. They were really good. Steak was cooked very well and even tasted good the next day! (Was too full to finish) The Chilean sea bass was bomb. I'd get it again ANYDAY. I would recommend it if you're really feeling seafood. They also have a surf n turf option if you order steak, you can add seafood. Overall, the food was good. Pricing isn't that bad for what you're getting. I would come back here again. Right off the LIRR stop- but parking might be a bit harder but is definitely doable. read more

Had a reservation on Open Table for 12/31 at 645. So highly disappointed in this restaurant when I arrived. The restaurant was jam packed and the hostess was having a very difficult time. She was ignoring people when they tried to check in. More then one couple left in a frustrated manner. Needless to say after seeing how we were treated at the door and how not COvid friendly it was, we just left. People were walking around with no masks on and some with it under their noses. This used to be the restaurant I would get so excited to go to. Their filet mignon is amazing, and so is their sushi. Especially love restaurant week that they have an amazing deal with filet mignon on their menu at no additional cost. My husband and I went for a night out for dinner the first night of restaurant week with a reservation. We were sat at our table in between one large party that was about to be on dessert, and another that was set for about 12 and no one had arrived yet. To make a very long story short - we were sitting at our table legitimately 15 minutes with no server greeting us. We got water and pita bread, but couldn't order drinks or food. I began to get annoyed as I would understand maybe 2-5 minutes, but fifteen!?!?! What was more aggravating was now the entire party of twelve was sat over that fifteen minutes and a server was already over to them taking their drinks. I got up to either get myself and husband our own drinks from the bar or to notify someone we had not been greeted yet and the server must have noticed me going over to most likely the manager. All of a sudden miraculously we were greeted! I asked how and why this large party who sat fifteen minutes after the two of us were having drink orders taken and our server Jennifer "thanked us for our patience" which I felt was borderline sarcastic which I didn't like. Once we got our drinks and apps it was good, but then the steaks came out both over cooked. We ate half of it with butter knives because we weren't given steak knives. Our plates were finished and we put in dessert. Check was brought over with a discount on top of the restaurant week which we appreciated but sadly the experience with the service was not great and I'm sad that I may not choose to come back here if given the option. For a non Asian restaurant the sushi is not bad...but that's where it stops. If you order cooked food, figure a nearly 2 hour wait and then the food comes out over cooked. Service bad. I'll go 4 stars just because my Chilean Sea Bass was not as advertised. Every other aspect of our meal today was amazing. We had a crew of 27 for my nephews baptism so we had quite a sample audience. This is the place where my SIL had her bridal shower. We began with the kung poa calamari which was tender with a hint of spice not chewy at all. Next up was our California rolls which were not sticky or dry they were sweet and tender and delicious. Up next came our meal, the Sea Bass was tender but lacked the flavor I was desperately seeking which dissapointed me quite a bit. The filet mignon was awesome, cooked to perfection with an incredible flavor profile. The service is where I would give 5 stars though. Our server Jennifer was incredible. She handled this large crew like a seasoned professional. She was on point, always there when we needed something, always with a huge smile on her face. I would come back just to have her serve me. Next up was our dessert which we brought in from the bakery but our coffee's were hot and delicious as well. All in all I would highly recommend this restaurant. Great for an intimate dinner or a large party. They hosted a 75th birthday party in the main dining area as we had our party in the side room and it was seamless. Came here last week with my girlfriend. We sat at the bar and noticed that we both asked for water, but he only brought one. We reminded him again and he forgot a second time. First of all I have to say the waitstaff, hostess, and manager RUDE!!! My friend and I went her for a fun night out and from the onset we knew there was going to be trouble. Secondly I noticed a waitress sniffing (yes sniffing) a customers wine -- that is bad in the best of times -- even worse now. I then saw her take a stirrer and put it in the wine to taste it, seriously, WTF is up with that, plus she kept taking her mask off. Our waitress was beyond rude and I get that the establishment cannot offer the drink specials right now -- but there was no reason for the waitress to be rude to us and the sign should come down too. The food was okay -- my Cesar salad was okay -- not the best but not the worst. steak cold but tasty -- the mashed potatoes totally tasteless -- needed tons of salt to make it have taste -- the creamed spinach never ever again -- completely watery not creamy and blah -- so gross I left it. We were happy with the food, service, and experience both times. They have a nice cocktail list, and the one I tried was yummy. I love the roomy booths and NYC-like ambiance inside. Went for a birthday celebration for myself two days ago and was very disappointed in the waitress handling our experience. The waitress seemed like she had only one thing on her mind just get the order and leave she did, not coming back for long stretches. This particular Monday night there were only about Six tables of which she had probably three. Don't let me wrong the food was fabulous but the night sought of it's lost luster by the way the waitress showed no interest other than getting the order. Let me start by saying below you will find my review from Friday night and the reason why I decided to take my family back on Monday to celebrate my Birthday......after one of the worst dinner experiences ever I have changed my rating to 1 star.....so we arrived without a reservation and were seated right away given the table I asked for the server was a little frazzled from the start I noticed she was doing everything checking in, seating, taking orders the works (I guessed they were understaffed) put in the app orders without a hitch bang bang shrimp , surf n turf roll, coconut shrimp now heres where it all goes wrong .....Please note the name STEAK & Sushi/Seafood I wanted the cowboy rib eye (came here for the steak) my son a porterhouse, husband filet mignon daughter fettuccini w broccoli and mushrooms and Victoria ravioli w shrimp asking for extra melted mozzarella on top ....easy right? the server comes back "I'm sorry we ran out of the cowboy rib eye"....Really? now I am disappointed that's why I am here ...okay I guess I will have the porter house.....the server comes back "sorry we are also out of the porterhouse" .....now I'm a little pissed....so how exactly does a steak place run out of the two best steaks on the menu so she says we only have the filet 2 sizes and the boneless rib eye so I go for the boneless rib eye after saying as long as it is thick cut (I have learned that a thin cut is hard to get to medium in the center the way I like it) she assures me it is thick (it was not) my son goes for the filet thinking there was no strip available because it was not offered (we found out too late that they did have strip steak) ....the apps come out perfect so im thinking this isn't going to be so bad .....boy was I wrong dinner is served and my husbands comes out pretty damn close just a little rare so hes fine then my sons filet completely raw not medium rare like ordered then mine....Hmmmm...this is not a boneless rib eye but a strip steak (did I mention I hate strip steak) then victorias ravioli with no cheese at all on top and my daughters completely cold raw pasta so everyones goes back ...now finally a Manager (not a very good one) comes over to the table and asks Victoria if she wanted melted mozzarella or grated...?????(grated that's a new one) so she said melted please and he leaves only to return and tell us they do not have mozzarella cheese....really you don't know what kinda friggin cheese you have....I am about ready to scream by now...and then the food returns with my sons steak over cooked my steak blood raw and the server mortified and then the manager decides it would be a good idea to argue w me and try to tell me the pasta we sent back was El Dante not raw....I lost it...I said are you friggin kidding me..I am Italian and have been eating pasta my whole life don't tell me what El Dante is it was RAW and by the way you should not be questioning me you should just be trying to get the damn food right and there is no way that the chef who cooked my food Friday night cooked this garbage you need to come up w another plan!!!!! now in all fareness the food we ate actually tasted okay and the manager took 2 dinners and an app off the bill aslo 10% (which had to be corrected twice cause they charged us for 2 porterhouses lol) and I made sure we tipped on the full bill not after the discount because it really wasn't the servers fault they need to think about a new manager and a new chef for Mondays by the time we left I was soooo aggravated I seriously doubt I will ever return below is Fridays review which I gave 4 stars ....go figure! Thom Thom is one of those spots that I've passed by on a daily basis and haven't managed to step inside until recently. When you walk in, to the left there's a large bar area with high tables and some seating along the wall. To your right, they have a nice sized area with tables and big booths. We came for an early dinner on Easter and it was pretty packed! I really like the atmosphere here, it's very trendy and welcoming. We had a party of 3, and were offered a small table smack dab in the middle of the main restaurant. It looked a bit tight and since it was quite noisy, we decided to sit in the quieter bar area for dinner. It was empty for the most part which was great and we were seated at the table closest to the entrance (even though there was no one else sitting in that area). This is where I had a small issue. A huge group walked in and were waiting for the private room and of course, stood RIGHT next to our table. The waiting area was pretty big so there was no reason to be sitting "on top" of us. Kinda uncomfortable, you know? I managed to call the waiter over to see if we could move our table. It took longer than I thought but they honored our request in the end. Other than that, I enjoyed their food. I have to agree with my fellow reviewers, the Kung Pao Calamari is a standout dish on their menu. It's got a kick and tangy flavor which is pretty unique. They give you a nice hearty portion of it. Speaking of, their menu is very interesting. It's a fusion/mixture of an Asian influence and American Steakhouse vibe. Their Marinated Skirt Steak and Filet Mignon (6oz) were both very good. Also, they give you warm pita and hummus/dips which is a nice addition. All in all, the food was good (esp that calamari). Maybe their seating selections or organization was a bit off that night, who knows. It's definitely not their fault the group was clueless. This is certainly an interesting location for an interesting place like Thom Thom. You walk in and the first thing your eyes are greeted with is a very modern looking bar with top shelf liquors, what appear to be good and attentive bartenders. It almost feels more like this restaurant or/and bar was transplanted from Manhattan. I could be happy coming here strictly for drinks and perhaps some appetizers as the bar. The ambiance is definitely Asian Fusion as you might gather by the asian (perhaps Japanese), script on the walls high above you -- another indiciation of the fusion factor is the menu which is heavily influenced with Asian ingredients. We had not made reservations -- and of course we should have, especially since this was a Saturday evening -- so we could not get seated in the main dining room, but we waited patiently at the bar for 20 minutes and they found us a seat opposite the bar in a relatively quiet corner. They introduce your experience with a breadbasket and a sampling of their butter -- two of which are infused with garlic and the other with sundried tomato. Nice touches. For appetizers we ordered the "Kung Pow" Calimari which was lightly fried and dressed with chili's, peanuts and a "secret sauce" -- definitely different from your ordainary calimari, and yet enjoyable. My wife got the daily raviloi which she said was tasty, but there were not many of them. They also offer sushi and sashimi -- I passed on it though and opted ffor the caesar salad instead. It was not in a classic casear dressing -- instead dressed with a nice light lemon and reggiano instead. Again, it was enjoyable, but a little light on the dressing I thought. For a main course, I could not take my eyes off of the rack of lamb covered in pistacho. I LOVE lamb. I paired it with the "old fashioned mashed" (potatoes) AND the five-ounce lobster tail. Guess I made a bit of a pig out of myself. I enjoyed the lamb, but quite frankly, I have had more tender lamb elsewhere. The lobster tail was nice, as was the potatoes. We finished our dinner with a helping of their Thai Creme Brule -- supposedly the vanilla beans were sourced from Thailand -- personally I could not tell the difference between this and any other decent creme brule. But since they have an Asian themed menu, I supposed they did not want to miss that theme in the dessert selections too. In all, it was a good meal in a beautiful atomosphere and apparently a good place to go, get some drinks and have a few laughs. Started off with walking in from the back and not knowing where to go or where the hostess was. Was greeted by a man with a smile that noticed that we were lost and showed us where to go. He took us to a nice secluded half circle booth where we were greeted again by our joyful server Kelvin. The atmosphere/decor was nice and reminded me of what I would find down south with a hint of Asian with the placement of bamboo pots around. After we looked over the menu and ordered, he came back with our drinks and a "on the house" appetizer of pork dumplings. The dumplings were OK but the sauce is what made us clean off the plate. I ordered the rib-eye(medium) with lobster tail and sweet potatoes with a side of sauteed mushrooms. The steak was cooked perfectly with a subtle tasteful seasoning. The sauce that I chose for it was a cabernet demi-glaze that worked well with it. The lobster tail was presented nicely and tasted decent. The sweet potatoes and sauteed mushrooms were great. The mushroom portion was generous and had some whole cooked down cloves of garlic that was delicious. Since my side dish was mixed up with my girlfriends, the waiter brought two extra scoops of mash potatoes and sweet potatoes out. I'm glad a went and the food was good. I've been here twice. Both times the food was wonderful for the most part, however the service here is very inconsistent depending on what night you go I guess. On my first visit to Thom Thom I went on a Friday night with my parents. I was a fan of fish let alone sushi at this point. I ordered a caesar salad and a flatbread pizza. The salad was delicious and the flatbread was pretty good as well. My mother order a sushi special which was spicy tuna, with a delicious sauce (which I can't remember what it was) and thin slices of mango on top. It looked so yummy I had to try. First sushi I ever liked. It was delicious. Ever since I've been a big fan of spicy tuna sushi. As I recall we had good to great service. On my second visit I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary on a Wednesday night. We were seated promptly with only 4 other tables being occupied. It was not a busy night. After we got our menus and bread we soon realized our waiter would be the host and not one of the 2 waiters on duty. Ok, no big deal. The host came over asked if we knew what we wanted, the bf said yes, I said no, the host said he'll come back in a bit. 1-2 min later we had made up our minds. We then waited about 10 minutes or more for the host to come back (as if he had any people to seat, there were none). After he finally graced us with his presence we ordered. This time around I was more adventurous. We got the caesar salad, the lobster bisque, the sushi and sashimi dinner and one of the chefs specials, the roasted long island duck breast. The salad was great, the bisque was a little bitter for my taste, the sushi-sashimi was delicious and the duck was to die for, so tender and flavorful. Our waiter, the host never came back, but instead decided to chat and help another table that already had a waiter, and then proceeded to ignore our waves and verbal attempts and went and sat down with 2 morbidly obese men across the dining room and chatted for about 20 minutes. In this time, my boyfriend spilt a drink all over the table, no one even noticed until 15 mins later, and it wasn't the host who came over, but a bus boy. We thanked him and asked for refills and to send our waiter(host) over. 10 mins later we ask another waiter to get our server, another 10 mins we ask another waiter to bring us our check, the host finally comes over to ask how our diner was and brings us the check. My boyfriend was overly generous giving any tip at all which I disagreed with. Some of the worst, if the not the worst service I've ever had. Ruined our special occasion. We arrived at 8:00 P.M. on a Saturday night, although the restaurant was full we were seated right away which was great. The drinks were very good as was the service. We started out with the Calamari, the Bacon and a surf and turf roll which were all very good. For our main course my girlfriend ordered the skirt steak which she loved and I had the Rib-Eye. We normally order steaks wherever we go and I've never had a rib-eye that was so thin. Aside from that it was overcooked. Went there early on a Saturday night. Started with cocktails at the bar. The bartender made a perfect martini with attention to details. Since it was quiet we figured we would have drinks and starters at the bar. The Kung Po calamari was very good. Lightly battered not over cooked and the sauce was tasty. It was not in the least bit spicy for what it is worth. The special roll was spicy tuna with avocado topped with white tuna, coconut flakes and a chili sauce. Very fresh and a delicious. Things got busy fast so I got one of the last tables avaialable. You may want to make a reservation if you plan on eating past 6:45. We were in the bar area but it was not overly loud. We ordered the pork osso bucco and the skirt steak. The pork came with gnocchi and was served in a reduced demi that was fantastic. Porky and tender is the fest way to describe the osso bucco. The skirt steak was marinated well, great char, and cooked as ordered. They over a few different sauces. The cabernet demi was outstanding. Plated with mashed potato and some sauteed vegetables. Overall a very nice meal. Slightly more expensive than average for the area but the food is well worth it. Service was an issues for the tables next to us and the host seemed a bit overwhelmed. My service was fine though. Also it is just down the steps from the wantagh train station. Very convient if you live on the south shore. read more

There was a Seinfeld episode where Jerry rented a car yet the rental car agency didnt have the car when he arrived. Similiarily we had an 8:30pm reservation and yet was seated at 9:45pm. Needless to say we wondered why it appeared that everyone else was being seated but our foursome, yet very much like yet another Seinfeld episode in that took place in a Chinese restaurant........Sushi appetizers were fresh but yet average, paella was missing something, very bland but the seafood was fresh. The skir steakt from the bento box was a little tough, even for flank steak. Our waiter was extremely nice and very attentive. It did appear that they were told to push the alcohol, as my buddy was drinking and my water glass was empty for an hour. Long story short, not going back. Proceed with caution. read more

Came here for my moms 55th birthday - the food and service was outstanding. I had ordered the marinated skirt steak with sweet mashed potatoes and creamed spinach and it was absolutely delicious. Will be returning very soon for sure! read more
