Nice, warm, friendly neighborhood coffee shop! Good coffee, teas, breakfast, sandwiches & good cheer here! I come here as much as possible - owner Thyda is super nice and this is a happy place!

This place is the best! Huge menu, and incredibly sweet owners. They said the parking lot to the right of the cafe is okay to park in too for up to 1.5 hours, but I parked on the street which was easy to find on a Saturday afternoon. The patio is perfect, with one nicely shaded table and 3 in the sun, and the owners specified that it doesn't close, so I continued to use the wifi studying past closing time. One note is they don't take card, but do take venmo.

Espresso & Club Soda Several things Ive learned about campaigning...you have to campaign. Some issues dont effect everyone. Some ppl operate in kindness, respecting ppl, and doing their best already! I see small business owners do things to create community. Creating the spaces they want to see close to their home, kids school etc its a beautiful world out in Oakland! Learn more about it

All I can say is the best place ever I've always loved it. There have really good options. The owner is super nice. It's pretty quick sometimes it's busy but that's what I would expect. It's next to school and the kids come after school. it's cute and a family place where you can feel like you just are at home. most recently I got a vitamin water and they have really good options.

Turkey sandwich with everything on it.

When they saw us trying to get in with our giant strollers, they ran over to open the door and move chairs out of the way, they all came over to say hi to the babies, another guest gave us tiny delicious cheesecakes she's made (presumably for some group hangout happening there at the same time), and the owners were absolutely lovely. We don't know a ton about tea, and he picked a lovely one for us. Totally a place to sit, relax, and try one of what looks like hundreds of tea options. If you know anything about tea, I suspect they can talk to you the way sommeliers talk to my husband about wine. Thank you for being so wonderful! I ordered an egg bite, while my wife ordered an macchiato along with a cheddar scallion scone. The egg bite was warmed up when I received it and was light and fluffy; definitely a bite I'd order again. However, the cheddar scallion scone was a skip for me. The scone crumbled apart the moment I bit into it, and it's definitely on the dry side. You would do yourself a huge favor by not eating this in your car. From my extremely limited experience, the items from the pastry case seem to be hit-or-miss. That said, I'm honestly very impressed that Yellow Door has been able to keep prices of pastries below $5. If you're stopping by on a Sunday, I would definitely do a loop around the farmers market nearby to see if there are other pastries that catch your eye. Pair that with a coffee from Yellow Door and you've got a winning combo.

Their primary focus appears to be on their special order cakes-which look amazing. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. After asking a few questions, I decided on the Passion Coco cake($5) and the Brown Sugar Pecan scone ($3.50). I enjoyed the Passion Coco cake slice. The coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry flavors worked well together, although the passion fruit flavor was very subtle. The sponge was cake moist, and the butter cream was spot on with its melt-in-your-mouth creamy texture. The Brown Sugar Pecan scone was good, but it had more of a dense muffin texture than a traditional scone, and the flavors were a bit muted. They did not skimp on the pecans though, which was nice. I would have enjoyed bolder flavors and a more traditional scone texture. Overall, I found that the walk in options are limited, but a great spot for locals to stop in and pick up tasty baked goods-and I would definitely order one of their beautiful and delicious looking cakes for a special occasion.
