I'm upgrading my review since this place hired a new guy who makes a great breakfast sandwich. Nonetheless, the bagels have been solid here. They have great croissants and, my favorite, the chocolate croissant... but, I'm still trying to figure out if they bake these fresh here, or just warm up a bunch of pre-made ones. What else... Was excited to try my neighborhood bagel shop and overall wife and I enjoyed it! It was quite busy and happening on a weekend morning with at least 5-8 people lined up in front of us, and the bagels (I had toasted everything w/ veggie cream cheese) were quite tasty if not ginormous. Chewy and not too tough nor hard which is important for me. We actually split just one bagel because they are large and server also stuffed it good with the veggie cream cheese which after a while felt a bit too heavy. We also had coffee (eh... watered down diner coffee at best, but that might be because I grind and brew my own every morning) and took a small tub of veggie cream cheese home to repeat the experience at home. But once home, I did find out that the veggie cream cheese is overall a bit too heavy and we did not particularly enjoy eating that. Maybe it's a once-in-a-while thing. Take out is not recommended unless you're going to eat it soon because, it's bagel and they do get pretty hard the next day unless you do it right in storing it. It was a good experience but I don't think I would frequent this place. They do however have interesting menu of sandwiches so we might come try that. Definitely don't come for the coffee though. read more

I'm a displaced bagel consumer as my tried and true spot has closed down. I came to this spot less immediately after a subpar experience at a nearby shop. It was a Saturday morning and I wanted a decent breakfast sandwich. When you walk in, you know you're in a typical jersey bagel shop. I was actually a little worried they wouldn't accept cards but they did! I place an order for an egg bagel with sausage and egg, BEC on an egg bagel, and a plain bagel with bacon and egg. I was excited because just looking at the bagels in the display case, they looked good (fluffy and not flat!!!) I will say the pricing is high and it's why I have to deduct a star. Many shops in the area don't charge as much for breakfast sandwiches. However, they do offer breakfast platters with an option of a bagel toasted with butter that seems like an amazing deal. We were saved from a terrible bagel experience by this spot and will definitely be returning. read more

Once upon a time, this bagel shop was my go-to, the kind of place you'd stand in line for without a second thought. But recently, things have taken a turn. Imagine you're waiting patiently, almost tasting that fresh bagel already, and then--bam!--one of the employees' friends strolls in, skips to the front, and gets served. Just like that, loyalty takes a backseat. My friend has experienced the same thing. It's a real shame because, back when the owners were more hands-on, this would never have flown. Doesn't take much to be friendly, but after coming here for a while, each and every time I come in no one says hello, no one ever smiles, no one ever recognizes anyone who comes into their place, the older woman looks pissed off, the workers look pissed off...what gives, why so freakin unfriendly in a neighborhood bagel shop?? I usually go to bagel Works on River Road in edgewater but they're closed. I don't know why so I ended up at three star in Fort Lee. All I did was order a toasted bagel. I feel compelled to post this. I had written a very positive review of this establishment recently, especially praising the workers. That review stands, they are great. My complaint is about their passing stale muffins. This sounds minor, and maybe it is, but on numerous occasions I bought a muffin and couldn't eat it because it was so dry and stale. It happened this Friday, again. I should have learned my lesson, now I have. This business has good food, but to push stale goods is sad. Money doesn't grow on trees, and I dispise throwing food away. My advice is to avoid the muffins, they're not good. read more

I have had a love/hate relationship with this place for many years. I've been putting off reviewing it as a result, but I think I've finally come to a consensus. 3 Star makes a good bagel, like the actual plain bagel before adding anything to it. Whatever their recipe is, it works really well. Nevertheless, I dislike every other thing about this place. First, the customer service is shoddy at best. They are rude, uninterested, and really don't care. Why? Because their bagels are better than any other place in a five mile radius most likely. Even the way they spread their cream cheese says "I don't care." Literally never evenly spread. Second, the price is too high. You can't charge me more than a bagel place in Manhattan. You just cant! Your rent is nowhere near as high on Columbia Ave in Fort Lee as a bagel place in most of Manhattan. These guys even charge to toast a bagel, which is simply absurd. A regular bagel with some cream cheese spread is like $3.50-$4 and if you add anything like a single slice of tomato you're going to be in the mid $4's. I once got a bagel with cream cheese and lox and it was no joke like $8. Third, the portions. They skimp on everything recently. In the past, they would put a ridiculous amount of cream cheese in a sort of blob shape. Now, it's a very thin layer of uneven cream cheese. Last is quality. Very often the cream cheese here tastes grainy. I think it's because it's previously frozen, but I'm not sure. In addition, their lox and their in-house turkey looks weathered and unappetizing. Overall, 3 stars because it's a decent bagel despite all the work they put in to making the taste and experience worse. read more

However, they are a little heavy handed when it came down to the amount of cream cheese added (TON)! They are not cheap with it at all. I will never step foot into this place again if been a loyal customer there for almost 20 years and I usually order my meals over the phone as the line could be long at the establishment. They have this older woman who takes the order and consistently screws up the order but I've dealt with it for years because of her age. Today I call, and ask if they have a whole wheat everything so I asked for just an everything. She says no and Her exact words were "I'm not going to tell you if we have what we have" and the hangs up on me. Since my usual bagel place was closed, tried this place today. Have to admit these are the best bagels in the area and the price is the same. Probably some of the best bagels I've had. There was a nice old lady behind the counter and everyone seemed friendly enough. Read all the bad reviews from all the angry, melodramatic Yelp terrorists and thought it was funny. Everyone needs to calm down. It's a bagel shop and it's only bagels. Save your drama for a restaurant with at least one Michelin Star and bill for a prix fixe dinner for two is $750. UPDATE: March 30, 2916: Ordered a BEC on a roll with extra bacon... If you've read my previous reviews, you will have see that I've ordered this sandwich (w extra bacon) before and was highly disappointed... After I left that review I ordered the sandwich again a few weeks later; and it was so so so freaking good. The lady (young woman) that cooked my sandwich did an excellent job. fast forward to today: they are back to their old ways; the older woman (I think the owner? I'm not sure) who cooked my order charged me for extra bacon and barely put 4 whole pieces on the sandwich. I was munchied and disappointed... I have included pictures of my sad sandwich (and I think I've already posted pics previously of the good sandwich for comparison . For fairness sake, most of the employees will hook you up when you ask for extra, they all pretty good employees! :) Come ONNN three star bagel, for the prices you charge ($3 for a bagel w cream cheese) you'd expect extra bacon (especially since you charge so much for it) Thanks! This is the bagel place I've been going to all my life! I've been a loyal customer here bc the bagels and indisputably high quality and it's walking distance from my home. I love me an everything bagel, but can't stand when other places stint on the toppings (seeds? Garnishes?). This is never a problem here. What sometimes is a problem is that if you go too late in the morning (~10,11am) depending in the day they run out of certain types of bagels. I tend to go on the weekends, and there almost always are at least a few people in line. This isn't too much of a problem, as service is quick. CON: The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is that the prices are quite hefty. I don't mind too much because I like to go as a slight treat/cheat for myself and my family, and the convenience and quality of the place trumps the price for me...but I see how this could add up if I were more of a regular customer. read more

Awful customer service. They had me wait on hold for five minutes just to hang up! I find it incredulous that someone would have another individual stay on the line for that extended period of time. I've eaten at this establishment for many years, but they will no longer receive my business. First, the typical sausage, egg, and cheese was $4.26 with tax and it was randomly raised to $5.36 with tax. Not to mention, the bacon, egg, and cheese is $6+. Poor service and bad pricing.
