DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I moved from my home in Concord to another home across town. Everything was packed up and ready to go. All was well until these 3 movers showed up. They were rude, unprofessional and obnoxious. They broke my coffee table, which I've owned for only 2 months, and stated they couldn't confirm that it wasn't broken before they moved it. The movers made sexual comments within ear shot of me and my daughter, made comments, both good and bad about my personal belongings and then to top it off, the charge went from $600.00 to $1200. At arrival at my new house, the movers blasted heavy metal music from their truck, which my new neighbors just loved. Save yourself the headache and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

Thrifty helped my mom move a couple of weeks ago. Oscar, Hugo, Ephram and Brian did a great job. They called to let us know what time they would arrive. This crew was polite, professional and made the day go by fast. The guys work hard and are fun too! Everything was wrapped, packed well and arrived safely! Would recommend and use them again. My move started out great, booked me fast, on time, lots of guys and trucks, this was a big house moving 4 blocks away. My only complaint is that they quoted 2K and at the end of the day the bill was 4300.00 I was in shock and frankly couldn't even pay that much more. They worked it out with me right there by phone and took it down to 3300.00 Thank G! Very professional and nice guys. Just maybe somehow if you use them get them to lock in the quote or at least lock in a certain amount over the quote just in case it takes longer. I called Thifty moving only just a few days before I needed some items relocated. They were so accomodating and friendly. On the day of the move they called me 2 hours before the window I was given to let me know they were on done early with their first job and would it be ok if they came early. Why, yes please! Unfortunately on their way, the ran into a mechanical malfunction on their truck. Just my luck right? Wrong, I was in luck! They had another truck and 2 movers rerouted to my location. And I hit the jackpot with Mondo and Mat! They were so nice, so efficient and I was so grateful! My hero's! I plan on requesting them specifically the next time I move!! We have used Thrifty Moving twice now in the past 7 years. Once for a very local move and recently for a much longer (over 100 mile move). Both times the service was outstanding. Professional and courteous from the first contact to the final item being unloaded. Aside from the normal household items, we had a number of large and bulky garden items like huge pots with plants and a gazebo, which had to be taken apart and put back together at our new location. All was done without any damage. We would definitely use Thrifty Moving again if needed and would recommend them highly to others needing moving service. I received exactly what Dan, the Operations Mgr. told me I would get! The three movers were professional, efficient with time and very careful. They arrived on time and followed my instructions with respect and kindness. They moved my very heavy solid mahogany piano, buffet cabinet, and hutch and knew exactly what they were doing to ensure proper care. These guys are great! I'm moving out of state, rented a 26' U-Haul truck to haul my stuff in. I had two locations that I was moving things from. Steven sent out a couple of guys and man they didn't stop till the job was done! Packed my truck so good, I bet I could drive it to China with no mishaps. These guys are very professional, on time, hard working and not that expensive! They showed up with a 26' truck loaded with equipment, dollies etc READY to do what ever was needed! I can't thank Anthony and Alex from Thrifty Moving & Storage enough with the help they provided moving my aunt from her home in Rossmoor to an assisted living facility. This was a stressful day for my aunt and Anthony and Alex couldn't have been more courteous and conscientious with the move. The movers were on time and loaded the truck without any hitches. They had to move quite a few boxes from the basement that was not easily accessible. WOW! A 4 Bedroom with five heavy amoires giant master bed set with huge desk, six couches a garage full of stuff everything we own weighs a ton!! I would definitely recommend Thrifty Moving for all your moving needs! Setting up my reservation with Marysa was a breeze. She made me aware of all CA policies & procedures thoroughly and explained their pricing structure well. Day of, Jim and Eric were extremely helpful and mindful of time. They arrived within the estimated time and got to work straight away. These guys were literally running. We were doing a local 1 bedroom apartment move from Walnut Creek to Danville with a storage unit stop in San Ramon. They were extremely organized in what needed to be pulled out first at the storage unit vs being placed at the final destination so there was no time lost picking and choosing out of the truck. Jim was very consistent on asking questions about certain items for my preference on where the furniture should be placed. Definitely not just a grab and drop job. When the moving was complete, Jim confirmed the timeline with me and called the payment into their office in front of me. They quoted me $135/hour with a 4 hour minimum and 2x the drive time of which they stood by. No hidden fees, charges, or attempts to pull the wool over my eyes. My husband and I have never used a moving company before and we've moved way too many times in our life. Each time it seemed like something ended up broken or damaged. When James and Justin showed up to help us move they did more than we could imagine. They wrapped everything and even removed the wrapping when done. They moved things so quickly and efficiently that my husband and I could use the one day off of work to get quite a bit of unpacking started because they finished faster than expected. If there were 10 stars, I would give 11. First off let me say due to my fiancés job, we move a lot like every year. And we have tons if furniture including an antique jack Daniels barrel and a king size temperpedic bed. And I have had some crappy movers. They run up the click by chatting. And say good bye to your wine glasses.... Moving sucks anyways but awful movers are the worst. So David and Oscar show up from thrifty moving and were super nice. Most guy movers are like car salesmen they address the man and hardly make eye contact with the women! Not these guys they talked to us both and figured out a game plan! Then they got to work! We didn't lift a finger.... They worked so fast and efficient. So then we got to the big stuff the BBQ our dresser/tv stand.... And we figured they'd put it on a dolly. Nope! David takes a rope to tie around the furniture and hoists it on his back! My mind was blown, they took such good care of our stuff not a single thing was damaged or broken. They were fast, and super hard workers thrifty moving is very lucky to have 2 guys that have that kind of work ethic, you just don't see that too often. I can't recommend them enough!! Thrifty helped us move while construction is going on at our house. So that meant some stuff to storage and some stuff to an apartment. The team that did our move were awesome - quick and efficient and worked their butts off. The only thing stopping them from getting a 5 star rating was that the mattresses were not wrapped or covered during the move so there was some dirt on them and dirty handprints from the movers when they were delivered. The dirt came off in the wash but it was just an inconvenience at the end of a day of moving. read more

John and Tom showed up on time and quickly assessed all the stuff that needed moving. When it got down to crunch time we all moved quickly to keep things as close to time as we could. Used YELP to locate mover options. Went with Thrifty because of strong reviews. Glad I did. Dan was everything as written about and a great administrator. However, the guys in the trenches knocked it out of the park. Three guys were assigned to the job. It basically involved ALL larger items for a house to house move and some. It turned out to be a much longer process than I imagined. From the morning greeting to the afternoon thank you the guys were professional, courteous, friendly and very conscientious about protecting the moveable items and the carpeting and marble tile where the items were delivered. There were many items that needed to get unloaded on the second floor and reassembled. The guys were fantastic. I run a 13 million dollar a year business and I would put Boris, Greg or Alfredo to work anyday. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Thrifty to move you because of those 3 guys. Seriously Dan. I have very mixed feelings about my recent move done by this company. The crew were good guys and worked very hard. That being said, there was a not insignificant amount of damage to some of my furniture much of which will be difficult to repair. Of course, some of that goes with the territory of a move, but in this instance, after looking at my furniture a few weeks after the move, I am disappointed with the apparent lack of focus on treating my household items with care. It shows a lack of concern and focus on providing a high quality service. I called to discuss but the office showed a complete lack of concern. The expense for the move was also not necessarily "thrifty" although my motivation for hiring this company was not to get the lowest price, but to have my household items safely moved. Unfortunately, although the move was not a disaster, my expectations were not even close to being met. read more

After looking through different moving companies on yelp, I contacted Thrifty and they were immediately responsive with details about the cost, including any additional costs. I was given a quote within minutes and the total cost of the move ended up being less than the quote! Within days of the move, Dan called me to remind me of the things that we can do to make the move go more smoothly. On the actual move day Boris and his crew came a few minutes prior to 9am and immediately started working. They were quick and efficient and would ask questions to make it go more smoothly. My movers, Kevin and Brian, were on time, got right to work, and remained incredibly efficient and hard-working throughout the hours it took to complete my move. I don't give 5-star reviews b/c frankly I think they look suspicious, but these guys were pretty close to perfection. Downside first: Steve, the "customer service" rep who took my order. I use the term in quotes b/c I think he has a lot to learn about customer service. Example: first call, he asked for my credit card number before giving me a quote. Then, sight unseen, he kept insisting that I needed two trucks. I knew how much stuff I needed moved (it was all in one storage unit), and I kept telling him I only needed one truck. (Guess what? We barely filled one truck.) In sum, I felt like Steve was more interested in making a big sale than really listening to me, and I did not have one satisfying conversation with him. So why did I choose Thrifty anyway? Read on. My moving team yesterday consisted of John, Colby, Tim, & Christian. I *only* chose Thrifty despite the frustration with Steve b/c John has moved me at least 3 times over the last 10 years, and I know from experience that John would ensure that my move went well. All four men were attentive, focused, professional, and thorough. I really saw and felt their slogan, "We move the most precious possessions - yours". Not only did they ensure that every box (and I had A LOT of boxes) and every furniture item was placed exactly where I wanted, they took extra time and attention to make sure I felt comfortable and safe in my new home. What movers do that? Ex: Because I had so many boxes, I asked they leave most of them in the garage. I'd assumed they'd just leave them stacked on the floor, but John insisted that I should be able to park my car in the garage. So he neatly and artfully arranged the boxes so that my car, appliances, garden tools, etc. are all tucked in nicely!! (The maintenance man who came by later said I was the first tenant in his history with the house who's been able to park in the garage -- Thanks John!! :-) In sum, all four men were *extremely* respectful and polite, and John made sure we all maintained a positive and upbeat attitude all day. Ironically, moving day was the least stressful day in the moving whole process! I am very happy to highly endorse John and crew.
