I only started trying this place in the past year or so. I know the owners kill it on Instagram and TikTok, so it's really cool to see a small business with young local owners. I can only imagine how challenging it is to own and operate a shop in this state and current market. I'm sure other people feel like this was all hype, my partner and I included, so we tend to check spots out a little later than usual. This review comes after a few recent visits. Overall, I really like the shop's ambiance and product marketing. It's definitely a new era and people want more than just ice cream, people want an experience and something to post about, and that habit/taste isn't gonna change. I feel like Thrills does this well. The unique seasonal combo's tend to have cultural names such as "cute na cute," which is a Filipino-inspired ubae concoction. My friends and I find them funny but we also appreciate that they include the flag or some representation of the culture/country that inspired the creation. My partner also loves the crème brûlée option. Lastly, I have to say that this is also becoming a sought after post-dinner or post-hang out option for my friends and I to satisfy our sweet tooth cravings. Parking is limited but you can find parking on the street, or in the lot across the street. For people who live or work in town, I think it's pretty easy to get to once you find parking. I can see why some folks who live farther might not be too inclined about that. But maybe this is another future opportunity for them to add a new location somewhere else. I also want to add that they have a dairy free option called strawberry chocolate that I like! Lastly, I think their merch is cute so I recently got their black "Thrills" shirt with baby blue text. I think Thrills brings a little bit of "ice cream shop nostalgia" with modern aesthetics and taste, and this differentiates themselves from traditional ice cream shops. It also reminds me a lot of boba shops, which are just as popular nowadays so I wish Thrills the best! My only other question/critique is if Thrills can compete on ice cream alone? (In regards to taste, price, etc) For more conservative customers, I can see why Thrills doesn't really entice them, but also maybe that's not their target market anyway. Last hurrah before saying bye bye to Oahu. I was gonna try Ube but the new flavor Strawberry Yakult was hard to resist. 2 of my favorite flavors in one? You bet I'm gonna get it. I'm glad I went for it because it was so yummy! You could really taste the yakult and the strawberry fruit. There's nothing more to say to be honest. Ube will have to wait till next time. They're very quick & make your ice cream look fun. The ube ice cream and ube cone are tasty even with our the extra toppings. One free cereal topping the orders are .50 to $1 I ordered one of the pre determined cones, they gave one less teddy graham than was shown. I didn't complain as I didn't need it. Took some visitors here to experience some unique Asian flavors that would be hard to find on the mainland. It's just a super cute and trendy place too! When we arrived it was quite crowded on a Sunday afternoon. All 4 of us wanted ube, but unfortunately while preparing my order first, they ran out! Sad my guests didn't want to try any other flavors so they didnt eat anything. My husband got the honey milk and we both thought it was too sweet and fruity. Portions are small. After driving by this place every time I leave Ala Moana, I finally made time to stop in! We parked in the shopping center across the street with Eggs & Things, and where the old Nijiya market used to be. We walked over, and the first thing you notice is the bright lights and cutsey atmosphere. The store had really cute aesthetics with lots of art, and modern decor. They make it really easy to order by providing you with flavors of the month, and different topping combinations that people have tried before. That said, I was pretty annoyed tonight by the staff. First off, the guy (glasses, cap, and gold chain necklace) that was working kept interrupting my daughter while she was ordering. The conversation was essentially: "Can I get [flavor] with..." "In a cone or cup? "In a charcoal cone with..." "Toppings?" "Can I please have [topping] and..." "Anything else?" "Can I also get [topping]..." "Anything else?" I almost spoke up to tell him to calm down because it was pretty clear my daughter wasn't done talking. If that wasn't enough, when my wife and son joined us after a few minutes, we wanted to order something for our son, and the two employees were nowhere to be found. A nice ice cream shop on Piikoi St. Metered street parking is available but hard to come by on the store's block...so I usually park in the small strip mall adjacent to Ala Moana Center...anchored by Nijiya Market. If you like soft serve then Thrills is for you. They offer blends of different flavors that will appeal to locals and visitors alike. They offer toppings of various cereals as well. Monthly specials are interesting and I went for a November one on my second visit - Peanut Butter M&M's. Great. I got it in a cup...they also offer cones and waffle cones. This place was so yummy! I got the pandan cookie butter flavor and it had a nice and light taste. It was not overbearing and so delicious! I also tried a bit of the fudge which is something I wouldn't order myself because I'm not a huge fan of chocolate but it was also good! Again, not too overwhelming and no huge flavors of fudge/chocolate. They do a really good job of having that balance of cream and choice of flavor. I just came here last night for dessert after eating dinner next door at Ichiriki. Cute, clean little shop. It was pretty busy inside but the line moved fast. I tried the orange dreamsicle cone and added my free topping, which was Trix cereal. Most of the toppings were cereal (Trix, fruity pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, etc.) The flavor of the soft serve was yummy and refreshing! The cereal added a nice crunch. I love going to Thrills! The whole ice cream shop is so adorable and the decorative wall is a great place to take cute photos! My cousins and I were running some errands, and we decided to grab some soft serve ice cream as a snack. Thrills is located right off of Piikoi (going toward Alamoana Beachside). I don't believe they have a parking structure, but we parked right outside of the shop as there are 2-3 stalls open for parking. If these stalls aren't open, you may have to circle around or park somewhere in the back, unfortunately. When we entered, the two shop owners were so friendly! They immediately greeted us, and asked what we wanted to order. We've never been there before, so we were slightly indecisive... especially with all the funny flavor names LOL (the Karen). Nevertheless, they were very patient and answered all of our questions! I believe I ordered the peanut butter soft serve with chocolate cereal as toppings. The soft serve was super creamy, and not too overpowering in flavor (which I love). I also ordered their ube latte, and it was delicious! They topped it with whip cream, and the ube flavor was subtle, and not too sweet. There are some tables located right outside of the shop, but we decided not to stay too long because we wanted to give everyone a chance to park right outside of the store. A M A Z I N G ! I have wanted to check out Thrills since before they even opened but living on the west side I don't get into town that much. Today was my birthday & thrills is all I wanted! Of course the crowd comes to thrills for the gram. Me, I do nothing for gram or any of the sort. I flock for boba and bobas only. Why the boba does not go in the drink is beyond me. But I puts the boba in the drink anyways. The shop is small but still cute. The decor is very gram-esque. I'm sure no one's mad @ it. The streets around this area are just a complete mess. I decided to park in the back and paid like a dollar. It was on a weekend so not really busy. We were in the shop for about 10m and only saw one person working in the front. The menu is on the wall and some items are on the toppings window with a picture. I knew I wanted the ice cream with boba and one of the drinks. I had no idea that the drinks don't have boba add in option. I really have no complaints about this place. I just know for me it's a one and done. There wasn't anything that I just gotta come back for. If I lived closer, maybe I'd stop by from time to time to check out what's the newest and latest. I think we found our favorite ice cream on this island! We loved the store's decor and all the different flavors and toppings they had. We tried the strawberry nutella, ube, and buko pandan oreo, which were all delicious but the ube was probably our top choice. They offered us free samples (thank goodness!) and sadly I didn't really care for the white rabbit... so I got ube! I chose the cup since I'm a slow eater and I was worried about it dripping from the bottom. Step 3: pick your toppings! They give you one free topping and they have additional toppings for 50 cents. "Hey I got an idea, let's make a store designed for Instagram!" "Bro, have you not been to Thrills Soft Serve?" And that ended that idea. Any who, Thrills is yet another icy confectionery shop that has totally cashed in on Instagram with an entire wall just begging patrons to take photos with their frozen flavored dairy product. There's a revolving series of flavors on the menu, but to be honest I stopped read the menu once I saw matcha. Thrills must go through quite a bit of decent quality matcha powder as their matcha soft serve actually tastes of matcha with a medium level of sweet and not green food coloring like so many other places. Getting it in the cone created quite a bit of contrast in terms of texture and color. The cone itself is supposed to be coca, but it was more sweet than anything else. For $6, they give quite a bit. My friend got the Ube in a cup, which tasted like ube, rather than, you guessed it, purple food coloring. Both soft serve were smooth, but did melt relatively quickly, so grab your photos quick and eat fast. I feel like they give more ice cream in the cone than in the cup. There's a bunch of interior and exterior seating. You do get a free topping, but it's mostly cereal, so that's a pass for me. Mochi are premium toppings which are an extra charge. Pricey as it is, the soft serve here at Thrills is very creamy and refreshing after a hot day or for dessert after a nice big meal. I first tried their milk tea soft serve with boba, which was flavorful but too sweet for my taste. I also came in with slightly higher expectations for it, so that didn't helped much. BUT fast forward a bit later, I got a chance to try their lychee white peach. My goodness, it was perfection with a much more natural aroma and sweetness to it. I finally got to try the most INSTAGRAMABLE ice cream shop in town. I've been raving about this place to my friends about how yummy all the photos look and they all went to try this place before I did. What's the verdict? Honestly, for me, it was okay soft serve ice cream. I got the Ube flavor with fruity pebbles and a marshmallow on the black chocolate cone. I don't know if my taste buds were wack that night, but I didn't really taste Ube. My brother got the white rabbit flavored ice cream in a bowl and he said it tasted like the candy. Definitely will give that a try next time. I did love the consistency of the ice cream though and the ice cream really held up. The inside was full so we ate the ice cream outside and to my surprise, it didn't even melt as fast as other softservei would. The inside of the ice cream shop was was nice and clean. It has different areas with different backgrounds for your to show off your beautiful ice cream to post up on Instagram. They do have indoor and some outdoor seating.
