This restaurant was fairly close to the Massanutten Resort so we adventured out to this restaurant to grab some breakfast. I am so glad we did. The food was really great. Every member of my family had said they all enjoyed their food. The pancakes were very flavorful. French toast was a bit on the dry side. Grits was not good because it was just way too creamy. The country fried chicken breakfast is a must try! That was delicious. It's always fun dining with the family as I got to eat a little bit of this and that at this restaurant. CLean and friendly with a decent sized menu. One of the few places for breakfast that's not a subway, McD's or BK on the way from Fredericksburg, VA to the green meadow book fair. The "potato hash" is a misnomer - it's just chunks of underdone potatoes with a few green onions thrown in - no spices at all. AND - at 10:30 a.m. they refused to make french fries - because it wasn't lunch time yet (lunch starts at 11). BUT - the bread is yummy - no wonderbread here! and the L&T on my BLT was crisp and fresh. They were also not stingy with the bacon. Service was decent and prices were reasonable. read more

Came for breakfast over the weekend and won't be coming back. Nothing to do staff members unfortunately because that would be an easy fix but sadly it's the cleanliness of the kitchen. After ordering our delicious looking omelettes, we found our food to have quite a bit of grease inside due to the grill itself. Grill grease is beyond any flavor I expect my omelettes to have so we than ordered their french toast instead. The slices of bread were nice thick portions and looked very appetizing but cutting into it them you realized that they were still soggy or undercooked... An above average diner. The service was quick and the food was good. I thought overall the food was slightly better than you would get at other diners. The service was attentive and put in the effort despite being busy. There was a little bit of a wait, but things moved fast for us. WOW! Road trippin in VA with a college roommate of mine and we were lucky enough to find this gem! Great out of the way place. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. Best grits I have ever eaten, country fried steak was fantastic and even the toast was special! We liked it so much that we had breakfast there two days in a row! And the staff was equally good. Nika made the trip even better and her tips for good antique markets made the weekend a hit! She told us that the owners also own Hank's Grille and Bar (a must for BBQ fans). Visiting from FL with my wife and it was our last food visit before we hit the road back. Amazing !! We shared Rachel's Favorite which was eggs scrambled with veggies and cheese, it was so good!! We also shared the blueberry cream cheese waffle, and OMG AMAZING YOU DONT EVEN NEED SYRUP! So sad we don't live near by. Our waitress was very nice and she was great at her job as well. Had a great lunch here on the way to Skyline Drive. I had an interesting take on a reuben, but with Hank's pulled pork instead of corned beef while my wife enjoyed the breakfast all day menu and ordered an omelet that was fluffy and delicious. This is a pretty decent diner. I've tried burgers, pancakes, eggs, homemade sausage, and potato hash. The potato hash is just home fries. The pancakes might be my favorite item, and they are 50% off 2-6 PM with a Yelp check in, costing $2-$3 depending on how many and the flavor. The homemade sausage was nice. Everything else was fairly average and uninspiring. They have an interesting deal of $10 for a mug, and then unlimited free beverages with the purchase of any meal as long as you bring the mug with you. For someone that is in the area frequently, that seems like a pretty good deal. They also have all you can eat catfish on Fridays and all you can eat BBQ on Sundays, but I'm yet to try either of those. read more

Went there for a late breakfast on a Thursday morning and over it. The food was fantastic. Ordered scrambled eggs and sausage with fried red potatoes. The sausage patty seemed to be handmade and was delicious. The potatoes were browned and crispy on all sides without being over cooked. Thunderbird Cafe is the sister restaurant to Hank's, which is located directly across the street near the railroad tracks. I came here because the reviews for the restaurants at Massanutten weren't so good. Both Thunderbird Cafe and Hank's had some outstanding reviews. I came to Thunderbird for breakfast and decided to get the The Sticky Pig. It's french toast wrapped around pulled pork drizzled with maple syrup. Powdered sugar is dusted ontop of it and its served with redskin potatoes. This was one of the best breakfast combinations I have ever had. Biscuits are freshly made from scratch and the grits were cooked pretty good. If you're at the Massanutten resort, please leave those restaurants alone and eat at Thunderbird Cafe and Hank's instead. If you have a timeshare, you'll definitely be back to fix your craving for some good home cooked food. read more

We were on the road traveling through the area and needed to stop for breakfast, the reviews for this place looked great so we decided to give it a try. It's a little diner/café style place with booths and a counter, giving it that "local" feel. The waitress was very nice and did a great job. She spoke about the area and some other places to eat as well. As for the food we were there for breakfast and everything was fine, I had the blueberry pancakes and they tasted good. I wouldn't say there was anything "special" about any of the breakfast food any of us had but none of it was bad which is important.
