Americans tend to eat turkey only on big holidays. Which is a bummer; it's a great protein choice…read morewhether it's roasted, grilled, smoked, ground, or made into broth. The better the bird the better the end result - and Hillside Turkey Farms has the best fresh birds around. I've been coming to Hillside since my dentist (a local who worked there as a kid, many, many years ago) recommended them. My Thanksgiving tradition involves picking up a fresh bird a few days before The Big Day after standing in line in the cold/rain/snow waiting to get in the store. Besides turkey (whole, breasts, parts; raw and smoked; sausage and broth and other finished products) they also offer chicken, duck, pork and beef. You can find cheaper (frozen) birds at big box groceries, but you will never find a better bird. Hillside has limited hours so check out their website before making the trek from wherever you are. Trust me, it'll be worth it!

Their menu of foods is large: many types of turkey, chicken, duck, pork, beef, venison, bison, elk, cheeses, eggs, prepared foods (e.g., meatloaf and cornbread), and more. From Hillside Turkey Farms, I purchased a turkey pot pie for several dollars. Its serving size was enough for one person. I ate it at home, and it tasted very good. Pickup, home delivery, and shipping are available.

Whats more sad is that I paid $15 for something that isn't at all as advertised. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Greek Salad as I love grilled meat. Never have I had souvlaki in over a dozen voyages to Greece that was wet boiled or microwaved, as this chicken seemed to be. Souvlaki are grilled skewers. This place should NOT sell the pile of bland, blond, wet chicken breast as "souvlaki." The "Greek" salad was sad. No other way to describe it. It had the ingredients of a Greek salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) but the feta was meager and there were no onions. The tzatziki was more akin to ranch dressing (not made with yogurt- real Greek yogurt would hold a spoon standing in it. This was almost liquid.) ) and the pita was a doughy, cheap substitute. Their listing says fresh bread, and this pita was not so much. The owner seems nice and personable, and I wish him well but I also wish he would pay more attention to the product he delivers, especially if they call it, Greek. UPDATE from owners rebuttal: I write fair reviews as I experience the food. The issue is not whether you have fresh ingredients or quality chicken: it is clearly stated what you served was just not souvlaki in anyway, it was wet sautéed chicken and that was not traditional tzatziki. It was tzatziki-like sauce. Period. If you go to a pizza place to buy a pizza and you get high quality toasted bread with excellent tomato sauce and good mozzarella- it's still not a pizza, no matter the quality, and you shouldn't call it a pizza. I don't deny you are Greek, proud or otherwise, just serve what you advertise. Good luck to you too!
