We got the drunken noodles and most Thai places use the wide flat noodles, but here they use a different rice noodle and I like it better. There are lots of Thai Options in the Hampton Roads area, and all of them have slight differences; however, Tida Thai (the sister restaurant to Rama Thai Garden) has really grown on me. This location is conveniently in Town Center, so you can enjoy a delicious and reasonably priced dinner then hop on over to one of the many fun activities that the area has to offer. I've been here twice so far, and I must say I was impressed with the food each time. I highly recommend the lettuce wraps, they were so delicious if you don't want to split them with who you're with you can honestly get them as a meal and be completely satisfied. Their wok dishes are served in plentiful and delicious portions and always come with a bowl of jasmine rice. I've had the garlic sauce and broccoli and the sautéed eggplant both were delicious but overall I preferred the garlic sauce and broccoli. My only gripe with their food is that they don't take the tails off of their shrimp, but that's so common with Thai restaurants and such a first world problem; I'll live having to take the tails off the shrimp before I eat. It's also worth mentioning that the service here is friendly. Both times the waitresses had a good sense of humor and knew how to laugh, which I definitely appreciate, because I for one do not like when servers seem cold or distant. One thing about Tida Thai is even though there are a few of them in the Hampton Roads, they definitely do not all taste the same. It was not busy this particular night so our food came out quickly. I usually do spicy #3 but it wasn't spicy at all, even my sister who doesn't like any spice didn't have any issues...Maybe they forgot? I worked at Siam 21 in Norfolk for a few years and that, at the time, was always the best Thai food for me. The top spot has been taken over by Tida Thai. I absolutely love this place, but I fear for their longevity. Every time we go, there's never more than 3 other parties in the restaurant. I'm not complaining, but I wish more people knew how good they were! Love the dumplings, pad thai beef, kapao chicken, healthy ginger chicken, pork pad see eaw. And the spice tray is perfect! Friendly service every visit, quick refills (if you're doing it right, you'll need them!) and they're incredibly fast. I'm giving it 5 stars because some this may just be me. Our family loves Pad Thai even the little kiddos will split a shrimp Pad Thai. I'm a wuss when it comes to spice and got my first portion at a 2. It was great but a little hot for my preference. Next time I got a 0 as not to make them same mistake again. This time it didn't have the same flavor and I didn't enjoy as much. Next time I'll definitely be getting a 1 haha! Our only other gripe was pricing and portions. During lunch pricing, it's a steal of a deal. We always have leftovers. The downside is our dinner was the same portions and cost $6 or $7 more. I'm not against businesses charging more for dinner, but offer the customer something more. We'll definitely be back but not for dinner. read more

I always love coming here to get my quick Thai fix! It's set off the Pembroke Mall side by the Big Kmart. It's tucked away so you'll see you there! The restaurant is always clean inside and the tables and restroom areas are clean. The service is good and the food choices are excellent. The spicy Thai fried rice is very good. I like that they add basil. Some other places leave out the basil. The duck is delicious, but on the higher end. I tried Tom Yum soup for the first time here, and enjoyed it. The Prik King with beef was ok. The Spicy Mango with chicken was good. The mango sticky rice is delicious! On my most recent visit, they had happy hour drink specials. However, the drinks were not your traditional happy hour prices. Pretty good compared to other Thai places I've tried around the area. The area is a little run down and old but I know not to be deceived by looks. Judy's Sichuan Cuisine is actually right next door! Which is one of the best chinese restaurants I've ever been to. (definitely try it!) They have a hugeeee Thai iced tea! Ordered the Chicken Skewers as an appetizer. Didn't blow my mind but it was good. I like places that use white meat for this dish so that was a plus. The pad Thai was pretty good. Extra brownie points because they kept the bean spouts on the side!!! I always forget to ask for it on the side because I don't like them mixed in. I found it to be a little saucier than most pad thai dishes I've tried. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I still enjoyed it. Also ordered the Chicken Panang Curry with white rice. Also pretty good, nothing really special but was enjoyable. It had cut green/red peppers with broccoli. I've never had it with broccoli before but it was very good. Finally had the Mango Sticky Rice topped with Sweet Coconut milk. I really enjoyed this locations Sticky Rice dessert. It wasn't too sweet and they gave a very fair amount of coconut milk! Tida Thai never disappoints. I actually hadn't been here in awhile, mostly because it's not very close to where I live, but my friends wanted Thai, and I'm always down for that! We walked in and were greeted promptly, and sat at a booth. Our waitress was super nice and lightheartedly chatted with us throughout the night. We ordered appetizers- Thai dumplings and chicken lettuce wraps- that were sooooo good! And the presentation was so pretty! I ordered the Seafood Pad Ped Eggplant at #2 spicy level. Very good Thai food reasonable price vs serving sizes. Their food is delicious. The favorite food that we order are: Tom Ka soup, sweet and tangy coconut bases broth. Panang Curry, coconuty curry served with Jasmine rice. Drunken Noodles, I love the noodles, kinda on sticky/chewy side fun to eat. Pad Tai, flavored so delicious. I hate to order something else as those food I mentioned are already great. Server is very friendly, anticipating and attentive. The reason I give this restaurant 4 out of five is that couple of times we went there about 30 mins before closing and place slowed down, they were cleaning the larger dining room while we were still eating. Both times when it happened they were using strong odor chemical cleaner while mopping. It was overwhelming that I could not taste my food. Felt like I was eating the chemicals instead. The food is "ok" Thai food, it's the closest Thai restaurant that was open on a Sunday so I came to satisfy my craving. The sticky rice was hard around the edges, meaning it's been sitting out for a while and they just re-steamed it. The curry chicken was good, but the service was horrible. I came in, and stood at the door for a while. There was no greeting or anything. I had to go up to the bar and ask where can I sit? And I addressed that I've been here for a while. I did not get an apology, the lady had an attitude and just pointed to a booth. I ordered my food, and the same lady was rushing us. My daughter was still eating, she threw the check on the table. Then when my daughter was still eating she asked if she needs a box, and I told her she's still eating. After I paid, she never came back to the table... even though she gave me the check when my child was still eating! What a great hidden gem of a restaurant! Wow! I had been looking for a good Thai restaurant I could eat at when I was in town and this is it! We were larger group and were greeted warmly when we arrived. The table was ready and we received our drinks and menus very quickly. We had many of the appetizers which were all fantastic. I personally liked the spring rolls the best. I had pad Thai because that's what I get anytime I'm at a restaurant for the first time and it was jus the right amount of heat and oh so savory! I also had the coconut lemongrass soup and it was also something I'll be having again. The pineapple rice is awesome but it's a huge serving. Tida Thai is one of those rare places that looks extremely unappealing on the outside, but is surprisingly modern and contemporary on the inside. It's inconspicuously located in an abandoned looking shopping center behind Kmart on the Boulevard, which I must admit, looks extremely questionable. Being a big foodie, I try to endeavor in a bit of everything, and Tida Thai is by far my favorite Thai restaurant in Virginia Beach. Granted, I haven't tried many Thai places in at the Beach, but it definitely beats Bangkok Garden! The place is quaint and divided into two rooms. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with a friendly waitress and are seated promptly (unless it is packed, which is very rare). With the combination of modern light fixtures and textured walls, to the small hint of Thai culture with their Buddhist like wall art and statues, their decor is very pleasant. As far as the food, it's delish! I'm not necessarily an expert when it comes to the correct taste in Thai food, but every dish that I have tried so far are neither salty, plain or bitter. The menu is full of different types of dishes and even includes a section for vegetarians. Their scale of spicy in foods is rated from 1-5 with 5 being "Thai-hot," though from my experience, is manageable. The Summer Spring Rolls for appetizers are freshly made with a slightly spiced and sweetened peanut sauce. It's perfect for the summer. I do believe you can get it steamed or fried. The main course is always served hot and garnished with a fun shaped carrot. Tida Thai is quite a delightful treat for vegetarians and veggie lovers, as many of their dishes are packed with fresh vegetables. No worries, for all you meat eaters, there's plenty of meat in their dishes as well. The food at Tida Thai gives any palate a truly mouth-watering joyride. To top it off, each plate is filled to the top with food, so rest assure your hunger will be fully satisfied. The drink choices are limited from the usual bar scene, but from my understanding, they do stock a full bar with various imported beers. As for non-alcoholic drinks, they do serve the usual beverages you can find at any Thai restaurant. Desserts are relatively mediocre in options and taste, but are a decent end to any meal none the less. With the fantastic tasting food, very calm atmosphere, friendly staff, and cheap prices, it's no wonder why I instantly fell in-love with Tida Thai. This place ROCKS! read more

Tried this for the first time and it was great! At first I was the only one in the restaurant bit saw they had a nice steam of "to go/pickup" food. Slowly more people arrived. I ordered my chicken satay and it was very moist, not dry like other places I've been to. I also ordered the Matsaman curry with potatoes, onion, and roasted peanut. This is yellow curry. The spice level was perfect. The portion was larger than expected that I had enough for leftover dinner tomorrow night. One of my favorite Thai places in Virginia Beach! It's kind of a hole-in-the wall, located in the shopping center with the Kmart. The decor is lovely, and I always receive great service. My last visit was a carry out order for some study fuel. I ordered a Pad Thai veggie which comes with a multiple of veggies and looks like it could feed a small army. I also ordered the Tom Kha soup with tofu. It was just the right amount of spicy and savory. If you're ever in the Town Center area, you should definitely stop in for a Thai tea. Tida Thai is in the middle of a near empty Mini Shopping Center. At first glance, I'm not sure it would be my ideal place for Thai. But once seated, I was immediately at ease. The place only had one other table seated and but the decor is very cute. Once the food started coming, my confidence in this place grew more and more. The Tom Yum was ok, the chicken tough. The Stuffed Chicken wings were certainly interesting, tasty. And now for the meal. It goes by a 1-5 star spicy rating. The drunken noodles were ordered at a "1 Chili" and was pretty spicy for a "1". The pad thai (which is what I base my ratings on at any Thai place) was ordered at a "4 Chilis" and was a little spicier than the "1". I'm pretty sure the "5" would have been ok and you could still taste the food, if you know what I mean. The Pad Thai was Delicious! The Noodles were just right, chewy. The sauce was tangy and not overly sweet- Mmm! I like this place! The Mango and Stick Rice was awesome as well, but then again- one can never go wrong with Mango and Sticky Rice :) So although not everything was perfect, considering the quiet area and how awesome the Pad Thai was, I'm going to bump this place up from a 3 and give it 4 stars. I love Thai food , If I can't make up my mind on what to eat I go to a Thai restaurant. My party of 6 arrived here without reservation and were immediately seated. We ordered spring rolls, satay, fish and chicken entrees and chicken fried rice. Sadly except for the spring rolls we couldn't really eat anything else... the fried rice was too spicy the entrees bland and overall the food was poorly seasoned for Thai food. I frequently visit Thai restaurants however we had a hard time understanding our server and the service was slightly slow though there weren't many guests. Overall, the food presentation and flavor profile is just average. Normally, I tend to get excite when I like the food. Unfortunately, this place didn't really work with me at all. The Papaya salad was definitely the worst one I ever had. The papaya itself is not fresh. The fish sauce was over powering the entire dish. It was freaking salty. If I have tried to eat it, I might gonna have a serious problem with my liver. Anyhow, we took it back because it wasn't nearly appetizing but then the manager replaced it Thai dumplings. The Pad Thai is a bit sweet and needed more citrus flavor. The rest are seem ok. I wouldn't say that this is the worst Thai restaurant I've been too but I have no desire to come again. I've heard from a Thai friend of mine that this is one of the best Thai restaurants in Virginia Beach. It's located across from town center. I don't know much about Thai food except Pad Thai, which is what I always get. He recommended to order the Drunken Noodles and Tom Kha soup. Drunken noodles is a stir fry noodle with a bunch of sauces like soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce and it's added with veggies and meat. All the random stuff put in it gave it this flavorful taste. It was a bit spicy because of the chili that they put in it. It comes in a big portion and I couldn't even finish it. I can tell you it was really satisfying and it hit the spot! The Tom Kha was my favorite! It's coconut chicken soup. This is definitely my number one soup of all time! It's a spicy and sour soup in coconut milk. Top with cilantro and mushroom. You can get it in chicken or shrimp. This soup can be ordered as just a meal. I got full eating the whole thing. If you like coconut then you'll love this soup. Service was great!
