Our visit to Tides was disappointing -- after a 5 hr drive we just wanted to eat at the hotel as it was close to 830 and I had 2 hungry kids. We didn't mind the short wait for a table but it took another 15 minutes for any server to notice us, and when we ordered, we had to send back a kid's chicken that was pink and undercooked. We asked for a kid's pasta with butter sauce instead- and the sauce was just a pool of melted butter. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos but one of them was filled with chicken. At least some effort could have been made!? It just felt like the kitchen didn't care about the food being sent out. For a hotel charging $400+ per night I expected the onsite restaurant to provide a higher quality experience.

The oysters here were so good! They were fresh and came with a variety of sauces to top them off with. Their hush puppies were also really good along with the blue crab dip.

My mom and I had such a great experience here that we ended up coming back the very next day. The food was incredible, especially the oysters, which were so fresh and flavorful they were truly to die for. I loved them so much I ordered them again on our second visit. We also tried the Parmesan fries, asparagus, crab dip, crab cake, crème Brulee, key lime pie, and a salad. Every dish was well‑seasoned, fresh, balanced, and delicious. Nothing tasted overly fishy or heavy, which can be tricky with seafood, but everything was prepared perfectly. The atmosphere made the meal even better. The view from the restaurant is absolutely spectacular, one of those settings that makes you want to linger just a little longer. Kevin's service tied everything together. He was attentive in a way that felt completely natural, checking in on us consistently without hovering. He kept our drinks flowing, stayed professional and personable, and genuinely made us feel taken care of. His energy elevated both visits and made the whole experience memorable. Highly recommend both the food and the service. Kevin truly made our meals exceptional.

I recently stayed at the Waterfront Marriott where Tides Coastal Kitchen is and I enjoyed visiting this hotel restaurant. My first experience was the hotel bar on the evening i checked in. Kevin, my bartender was super friendly and made a delish dirty martini. I also popped in the following day for lunch. I sat outside in the picnic tables which was glorious because the view was the ocean and the sand. Who doesn't up their productivity when waterfront?! Luis was my server and was friendly and attentive. I opted for the mixed greens salad which included brioche croutons, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, manchego cheese, bacon, mustard vinaigrette. I also opted to add steak for some protein. It was a great lunch and the portion of steak was double so it was very filling. The employees at the restaurant were welcoming, gave me recs for the area, and remembered my name each of the 3 times I visited in the two days I was there. While it is a hotel bar, I did notice there are locals that come to visit because they knew the bartenders by name each night. Good option if you're staying in the hotel.

You walk into Tides and you can already see the ocean. Patio seating is a must . Started with a variety of Oysters delicious. We had the fish and chips amazing! huge fresh portion of fish . Serves on point everyone friendly and smiling.

4 stars for the view outside and the friendly service otherwise i would give a 3 for food/menu accuracy/price. Specifically came here because their website lists seafood Cobb salad but that was not on their menu, same for the chicken bacon ranch sandwich my husband looked forward to. Instead I had to get the seafood pasta which was delicious but unfortunately my husband was not so lucky. He instead fell to the chicken tender platter, it being $25 you would expect had at least 10 tenders on it but was basically the size of a children's meal. Will def come back for the vibe but think management needs to review their menu

I am going to be kind with this review even though my better judgment says I should be brutally honest. 1) Really not a fan of this restaurant. 2) The food looks amazing, however the taste leaves much to be desired. The fact is the food needs to have taste. I ordered the Fish n Chips and even with the Malt Vinegar there was no taste. The crab bisque tasted too much like carrots. My wife had the Salmon and was not impressed, my daughter had the Sliders and Mac n Cheese and was also not impressed. My mother in law had the Shrimp Cocktail and had to wash off the Shrimp to make it taste good for her. 3) Limited Beer selection( 3 choices). 4) Our server was nice and eager to please but seemed a bit overwhelmed. 5) The ambiance was fine but could have been better with a larger beer selection. Would I come back? As a local, no, there are better choices.

Service was terrible, food was mid, but the view was good. We sat at our table for 50 minutes before being greeted even though we went to the hostess stand twice to ask for service. Thankfully, I was in good company so we were fine waiting and watching the sunset. By the end of the meal we started joking "we're going to die here" bc everything took FOREVER. It was a 3.5 hour dinner that should've been 45 minutes. There were four tables who came in after us and got their food before we were greeted, and at the same time, we saw 3 other tables walk out because they sat for 30+ minutes without being greeted. I think some of the servers are great and some could use training and it's just role of the dice on who you get. Our check was wrong, about $40 over. Another interesting observation. We saw a couple getting engaged on the far end of the patio at a special set up. About 30 minutes after the engagement, the couple and their families came to have dinner on the dining side of the patio, but there weren't enough seats. The man who proposed told the hostess they had a RSVP and she said "it doesn't matter if you had a reservation or not we don't have the tables available" and so they left. I can't imagine having that experience after getting engaged.

We walked in on a weekend with no reservations and chose to sit outside and enjoy fresh air. Loved the view and live music. We were able to even see dolphins in the water. We ordered calamari's and oysters that were decent. I ordered the shrimp scampi and my hair and ordered fish and chips. I think all the food and drinks were great. A bit pricey but all tasted well. Service was ok, nothing extravagant except when they brought our food out and explained the difference in oysters. I did enjoy the food display and the ability to add drops or horseradish.

Vibes were pretty good pretty views. Food was ok we just got apps. Manager was not present was eating and on her phone when we walked up I had to cough to get her attention. She couldn't find the reservations (she was looking at the wrong day) Drinks were bad. The seasonal menu was still from the fall it is late spring. Tasted like just liquor and nothing else. Crush was so sour. Not good. Don't charge $15 for a bad cocktail. Not great go elsewhere

I was able to catch their March 20th deal for $35++ pp which allowed me to sample their new spring menu. Portions were healthy sizes and wonderfully plated. Patio seating was open, therefore I took advantage of that beautiful day to enjoy my meal alfresco on a cool, sunny day with lovely views of the Chesapeake Bay. I had the warm spinach crab dip with the most delicious, soft and flavorful pita bread. I could have just even eaten the pita bread alone. However,the dip was plentiful and had actual crabmeat on top. Savory and not overly heavy with cheese or spinach- a good balance, quite good and filling! My sister had the fried calamari which was a pleaser as well, not too chewy and the accompanying sauces enhanced the taste even more. The breading was crispy but with enough softness at the same time. If you are a tentacle lover, you might be disappointed, as there weren't many or any if at all. (I'm not a fan of tentacles.) entrees- I had the roasted rockfish which had an orange ginger glaze & plated on a bed of carolina gold rice. The fish was meaty in texture, light firm & white. The flavors really came through. My sister had the grilled ribeye with fries. The steak with chimichurri sauce was cooked medium well per her request. The rosemary fries were hidden under the steak. I was able to sample some from my sister. Those fries were really good & well seasoned. I'm not sure why they place the steak over the fries versus plate them to the side. The choices of dessert were chocolate cake, creme brûlée or key lime pie. I opted for the chocolate cake and my sister went with the cream brulee but we each halved ours so we could try both. They both did not disappoint! The chocolate cake was massive - tall and thick with chocolate ganache with the cake portion soft, moist but crumbly yet soo good. The creme brulee was a winner as well. Creme brulee is always a good choice if you want a light dessert. It was delightful! You could hear the crisp crackle as the spoon broke into the top torched caramelized sugar. The sound alone was satisfying. It's nice to be able to enjoy the restaurant and patio before memorial day hits and it becomes noisy and busy.

I've never written an online review for any business or product, but dinner at Tides Coastal Kitchen for my wife and I was a memorable experience. The online reviews were promising, and the website made it seem like a chill "coastal" vibe, away from the louder Virginia Beach strip. We had reservations and were seated promptly on the patio at 7:30 on a recent Friday in July. Nice view of the Bay and sunset. What we hadn't expected was the incredibly loud dance music thumping just yards away, on the portion of the patio that was serving as a poor excuse for a club. It was so loud that we wouldn't hear each other talk, and we wondered later how the hotel guests and surrounding condos felt about the migraine-inducing noise. (Our Gen-X souls felt particularly crushed when the DJ started blaring a techno version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit." I'm so sorry, Kurt.) Our waiter, bless his heart, was clearly only a few days on the job, and it's possible he had never been to a restaurant before in his life. There was a special "Fried Chicken & Champagne Fridays" menu that the hostess had handed to us, and he said that he'd never seen it before. There was, however, no drinks/cocktails menu, but he did kindly list the beer options for me. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller as an app. Having lived in New Orleans, the birthplace of the dish, I don't know what I thought I'd be getting here. When they arrived, they smelled like moldy fish, and when I tasted a bit of one, they were clearly not cooked enough. Not eating them was the best decision of the night. Another highlight was my beer. Unbeknownst to me, the draft beer system at Tides apparently has some sort of trick where the bottom of their plastic cups has a magnetic ring that has a replaceable metal disc sticking to it. The disc has a cute message on it ("Would you rather?"), I guess to spur conversation when you reach the end of your beer. (How someone is supposed to have a conversation in that EDM din, I'm not sure.) I didn't realize this, and when my wife asked about the bottom of my glass, I poked at it from the bottom with my finger, the metal disk came loose, and most of my beer spilled through the hole in the bottom, all over the table and me. Perhaps a warning to patrons about the hole in the bottom of one's beer cup would be helpful. For dinner, I got the fish and chips, which were lukewarm (the chips) and small (the fish). My wife got the fried chicken bucket special, which had two enormous (and enormously dry) biscuits and one fried thigh and one fried wing. Not much of a bucket. The special had included an option for a bottle of sparkling wine, but by the time our waiter realized that was missing, we were already done "eating," so we cancelled that. My wife and I have traveled the world and eaten many meals, and we've spent enough time in Virginia Beach to know to keep our expectations mid on a summer Friday. But along with having to find our own silverware, anti-fly fan, and the hearing loss, this was one of the laughably bad meals we've had in a while. They didn't charge us for the bottle that never arrived, but they did try to charge us for the oysters, which I asked to be removed from the bill. On the way out, my wife saw a cockroach in the bathroom.

Haven't been here since it was renovated! The atmosphere and decor was beautiful! Great place with a view! Indoor and outdoor seatings available. If you can-Time your dinner around a sunset! You won't regret it. And make sure you make reservations especially with a bigger group! The dish of the night for me was the lobster pasta! Chunks of pasta in a delicious creamy sauce! I'm salivating just thinking of it. I typically leave with a box of leftovers. Well....that pasta had no chance. Lol They have complimentary parking! But be nice and tip. read more

I just....am confused. This place is considered upscale but the food is crazy bland. Who is the chef? And why are they employed here? The shrimp and grits is wildly overpriced for a full serving the size of a softball. The she crab bisque tasted like sherry--thats it. Just sherry. It felt alcoholic, it was simply not good. As for the low country boil....it should be called low seasoned boil...not a seasoning in site. Im certain salt wasnt even considered, and for a restaurant in the south, thats simply sinful. I had to send my cocktail back because it was so bitter it literally repulsed me. It's also kind of weird that this place is considered upscale but they let people waltz in in dripping wet bikinis. Idk, im sure this place is fine, but it shouldn't be priced at what it is and be considered upscale. read more

Ugh....I hate writing bad reviews but I just have to with this one. I haven't been here since it became Tides Coastal Kitchen from the Tin Cup. We were here for brunch on a Sunday at 11 am. We were the only table in the restaurant and only 1 or 2 people at the bar. They do have a buffet and it closes at 11 am so that might be the reason. The chaos started when the reservation was made. Not by me - by my friend. She said they didn't ask her name or any details like time wanted. That kind of was a red flag. There was 9 of us and we had someone find our waitress for us. It was weird. Service was very jerky - not smooth at all. Seemed like she was very confused. She was nice but just seemed confused. We waited so long for her to come back to take our order that we ended up writing the order down from everyone and we were going to hand it to her. Food came out wrong on some peoples order. Checks were given to the wrong people. We waited lots of time for drinks, food, checks etc. The food was okay. Not worth the prices and I personally think $8 for a mimosa is way too expensive. It's not a $8 mimosa establishment. I was able to substitute a salad for the fries. I liked that. My chicken sandwich was good but it was just a chicken sandwich. Not worth $17. Definitely overpriced. The manager was so kind and felt bad and tried correcting things. I just think that the employees need to be retrained or they need to change things up. With so many great brunch spots on Shore Drive, people are going to go other places. I hope they correct things, retrain employees and lower prices. Ehhhh......at best. I honestly probably won't be back and would not recommend. read more

We stayed at the Delta hotel the weekend of June 13 - 15. To start positive the woman who helped us on Saturday was terrific (I think she was a manager and was leaving on vacation the next day - THANK YOU). She came over when she saw we had not been waited on, provided a water dish for our dog and we had a lovely conversation. The food was good, no real complaints. The rest of the staff left a lot to be desired. It took forever to get service on Saturday at lunch time and we just assumed that our waitress was new. We decided to go back on Sunday for brunch before we headed home. Since we had our dog we went back to the porch. We sat down and waited, and waited and waited! Several wait staff walked by and would look at us, let alone ask us if we wanted water. We finally asked a young lady if we could get service. She asked if we had a reservation. We said no. Then she said no, we needed a reservation. That being said, the inside was not full and out of the 30ish tables only TWO were occupied. We has a blank look on our face and then she walked away. As we started to laugh at the fact that there was more than enough seating, one of the TWO couples started to laugh with us. It was definitely a WTF moment. We talked them for a moment and they, too, were not happy with the service and maybe not the food either. Look, I waited and hosted back in the day and i get. But this crew (outside of the woman on Saturday) seems to be oblivious of meeting and greeting their table guests. read more

Came for "Happy Hour" on a week day and sat outside on their patio. Patio is gorgeous, right on the beach. In the future, I would probably sit inside since their interior is beautifully decorated and as a some-what boujee human, I appreciate my drinks being served in glasses rather than plastic cups. I drank their original OG crushes, which were good, but definitely not the best I've had. They were just a tad overly sweet. Our server was nice, checking in every once in a while, but the hostess seemed annoyed for us to be there. During the afternoon menu/happy hour, the menu is a bit limited, so we skipped on food. read more

Because I was staying at the hotel for a conference and didn't feel like leaving for dinner, I chose to eat here. I was skeptical after reading reviews but my experience was just fine. It was a little after 5pm on a Thursday so it was not busy at all. There were more people at the bar than in the dining room. The hostess was friendly and sat me quickly. My server was nice and gave great recommendations. I had the Rockfish, which was a special. The sauce underneath was kinda spicy but I ate it with the asparagus because those needed more flavor. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly, as was the fish. It was a nice dinner. read more

Ordered crab dip, burrata and sliders as room service during our stay at Delta Marriott. Sliders were good. Not sure how good the rest of the food could have been as we had to eat it cold as was delivered with no utensils. Called several times to try and get utensils but ended up going down to the restaurant to ask for utensils. By the time we ate the food the crab dip and bread were all cold. If we weren't so hungry after a day of golf I would have returned the food. read more

We had a staycation at this hotel delta Marriott and decided to try tin cup for brunch. It's located in the back of the hotel and you can see the ocean view right behind it. The breakfast was simple they had pancakes, waffles, fresh toast available and they had some seafood on their menu like the eggs benedict and omelets. Great spot to grab brunch with a view. The staff was friendly and fast and there was no wait to dine in. read more

If i could this would be less than one star. How it began is how it ended. We sat for 30-minutes before acknowledgement and a request for waters could be made. 90-minutes from arrival before drinks and appetizers arrive. Dinner entrees arrive 15-minutes later minus one plate that was omitted from being put in all together. Bar none the worst dining experience ever had. Do not reccomend. read more

Decided to check out this place and wasn't disappointed! I asked the server for recommendations and she suggested trying the mozzarella appetizer and the mussels!! The Mussels were absolutely amazing!! The other appetizer was delicious as well. The drinks I ordered was one of the absolute best side cars ever!! This place seems to be a great example of a rebrand to get distance from a BAD brand. Unfortunately, it appears, they failed to make substantive changes. This is just "Tin Cup Kitchen + Oyster Bar" with a tweaked menu and all the same problems you find in the reviews there. The food is fine. It's mediocre, it's average, it's OK. It's hotel food...it's tolerable. But the service is ATROCIOUS. Like worse than you can imagine. They seem to be very understaffed, even for a place at breakfast that has a buffet. There is no one to refill your coffee, no one to place an order off the menu even if you wanted to, no one to bring a ticket to pay at the end of the meal. The low point for us was one evening when we went to the bar to get a drink and I asked the bartender what beers they have on tap. He couldn't recall and asked me if I just wanted to see a menu. "Sure," I said. He went over the pile of menus behind the bar and when he couldn't quickly find the beer menu, the threw a tantrum and launched all the menus on the floor before saying "Looks like we don't have one." He was obviously having a bad day, but geez. When were finally able to get service, the crushes were pretty good. The strawberry margarita was almost tasteless and the canned beer was, well, canned beer. Tides really runs the risk of ruining the hotel. If you are able, I would suggest walking to one of the nearby places to eat/drink to avoid the debacle that is Tides Coastal Kitchen. read more

We had breakfast- eggs, hash browns and toast. View from outside seating is spectacular- maybe the best in VB Service was timely and friendly. Food was terrible- hard to say how it could have been worse. Eggs undercooked, toast under done and dry, potatoes barely out of the bag. No care taken in preparation. read more

It really pains me to write a 2star review but I feel that I need to update. Had a girl's night July 1st and specifically went for their $1 oysters and $2 bubbly special but unfortunately that is no longer happening. I am assuming it is due to Summer tourist season. Service was good, but the reason for the low rating is due to the menu was significantly reduced since the last time we went so we just ordered appetizers. We ordered dozen of the Blue Point oysters for $2.50/oyster, these were just ok and not worth the price point in my opinion. We also got wings, tuna poke, crab hushpuppies and mussels. The wings were tiny, tuna poke just plain no flavor. Crab hushpuppies and mussels were good. Another reason for the low rating is the flies!! Major disappointment. Validates that just about every hotel restaurant is overpriced, and you're merely going for the ambiance. The mediocre review is mainly for the poor service we received. We went with a group of people and made reservations days in advance. On the upside, the staff was very accommodating in updating our reservations and although our table was not ready when we arrived, the wait wasn't too bad as we enjoyed the sunset from outside the restaurant, which was a spectacular view. We got seated and sat a good while waiting for our server to come by. After waiting....and waiting...and waiting....the hostess who had showed us to our table came by to take our drink orders. When our server finally did arrive, she didn't even introduce herself, let alone apologize for the long delay. The food was decent; we got the fried oysters and crab and corn hushpuppies to share with our table. My entree was the lobster pasta but I was not too satisfied with it as it barely had any lobster. I would not be in rush to come back but I won't entirely write this off just yet....stay tuned for an update! read more

First time here, great water views, great customer service, food was decent. I had smoked wings for an appetizer (forgot to take a picture of it), rock fish for my entree, strawberry shortcake for dessert and a lemon lime crush. Least favorite thing was the wings, they were slightly undercooked. But the rock fish was flavored well, the mashed potatoes were great! The crush was very fresh and refreshing. Favorite thing--strawberry shortcake, fresh strawberries, the cake was like a donut and the whip cream was rich. The ambience is a very hip and laid back atmosphere. Came here for lunch with my girlfriends for a birthday. We made reservations for 2pm and when we arrived we were seated right away. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the hotel. We didn't realize that the entrees for lunch and dinner were not available until after 3pm which was a bummer.... but Connie was able to sneak in an order of their fried oysters when we ordered our appetizers. The server put it in but then realized it was only 2pm so told us we couldn't order from the lunch menu. Anyways, they were yummy!. We were looking forward to the oyster bar so we will have to come back. All of us enjoyed everything we ordered. See pics please. Drinks were great too! Excellent restaurant, only complaint is that I would of liked bigger portions. Met some friends for dinner started with an excellent Negroni, followed up with fried oysters, and shrimp appetizers. Sent this letter to the GM and got no response- April 16, 2024 Dear Alexis, Hello. I am writing to you today to express my complete disappointment with the Golden Girls Brunch that was hosted by Tides Coastal Kitchen on Sunday, April 14th. I run a very successful Facebook Brunch group and I brought a group of 14 ladies on Sunday, and everyone was dissatisfied. From start to finish, this event was poorly organized and executed. We were instructed to make a reservation on OpenTable for the event, which would only let me reserve a table of 6, so I did that. The other girls made their own reservations because that is what we were told to do. Then, we had to get "tickets" from EventBrite but weren't charged anything. I reached out to one of your bartenders whom I happen to know from another restaurant to ask if it was possible to have everyone in my party sit at the same table, he gave me Tally White's contact information. When I spoke to Tally last month, I made a reservation for 20 people but told her that I would contact her the week prior to the event to confirm the count and the names of the people in my group so she could cross check the reservations so there wouldn't be any double charges. A few days prior to the event, I sent Tally the list and my credit card information to hold our reservation. I then started getting messages from everyone in the group stating that they were getting phone calls to provide a credit card. I contacted Tally again, and she assured me that everything was all set. Three people in my group of 14 got charged prior to the event even though I had given my credit card information for the reservation. Payment was figured out, but it could and should have gone much more smoothly. I highly suggest NOT using both OpenTable and EventBrite, that was very confusing and redundant. Now on to the food. It was absolutely not worth $35/pp. The meats were not cooked properly (the bacon was almost raw), the eggs benedict was not cooked correctly, the salmon was raw, and there was Caesar salad but no Caesar dressing and on top of that the food was all cold. The drinks priced at $15/ea is ridiculous. To compare your brunch to another one that we've done...The Grain in Norfolk hosts a fantastic brunch buffet for $31/pp that includes a seafood raw bar, fresh pastries, an omelet station, breakfast tacos and so much more with mimosas and other brunch drinks for $3. What we received was not on par with what we have received at other places by far. I do have to say, the server who took care of us (I'm sorry I don't remember her name), was great. She was very nice and was attentive. I hope that you will take this review and use it to become better. I wish you the best of luck. read more

I came to have lunch on the beach while I waited for my family. This location is inside a hotel- which I didn't realize- but it was great! Beautiful views, quiet atmoshphere, covered patio overlooking the ocean! The hostess was so very sweet and my waiter was polite. I had the Cesar salad- it had a hint of lemon to it. My only suggestions would be to have a few more meat-free dishes on the menu. read more

The crab Bisque was so spicey I thought I was in New Orleans. It was like no other I'd ever had. The hush puppies were mushy and not completely done inside. The fish and chips were tasty. The fish was a large portion with a light batter. The French fries were barely warm but tasty. My tea glass was never replenished but our water glasses were. The waiter was fairly attentive. We were on the outside deck under the only non working ceiling fan. I'm not sure I'll ever return to this establishment! read more

Even though they were short staffed - the crew still managed to serve people coming in to have brunch. Vanessa and Cordelle were awesome! I don't know the name of the kitchen crews but they did an amazing job as well. On our last day we had to request if they can accommodate more than 20 people who all came in for our Aunt's funeral. Alexis, Tin Cup's, Maître D gladly took us in and helped us out. There was another female staff on the morning of 11/12/2022 - I forgot her name but kudos to her for helping us that day. As I sit here enjoying my meal I can't help but be impressed. This is located in a newly renovated Delta by Marriott hotel. The service has been amazing. All staff are wearing masks yet you can notice they are still smiling and enjoy delivering great service. My server Jason has been amazing! Recommend a spectacular dish that I wish would never end. (Lobster pasta). The host staff were very busy when I walked in yet still made me feel welcomed to the establishment. Manager on duty, I believe his name was Jon, was clearly very busy running around the entire restaurant ensuring everyone was taken care of. I noticed him not only greeting customers, running food, running drinks, seating tables, but still managed to help his staff with various questions. The location of this restaurant is amazing! Located right on the bay, it seemed more like a local hangout and less touristy compared to the boardwalk. I can't wait to see this location once covid restrictions are lifted. I first ate at the Tin Cup with my husband while we did a staycation at the new Delta Marriott (definitely try the oyster trail and the burger) and that led me to book them for my sister's baby shower which I hosted here on March 6th. I truly cannot say enough about the staff and experience overall. The manager, Sean, was so helpful - rearranging tables however we needed them and even set up the prettiest mimosa bar for guests. Our server Sonja (I am 99% sure this is her name and I SHOULD know it by heart as she was also incredible) was so patient with our large group and I was very grateful to have her with our party. We were in the private room and even though the rest of the main room was PACKED, the food came out quick and was delicious. Plus you have a beautiful view of the bay and can even walk from the restaurant directly onto the beach! If you haven't checked this place out or are looking for a space for a private event - go check them out!!! read more

UPDATE: We wrote a review June 23, 2022 when the restaurant was The Tin Cup.. We loved it!!! It is now Tides Coastal Kitchen... JUST Don't go!! Four of us dined this past Thursday night, Sept 14th and the food is horrible!! The she crab soup was salty, not creamy, did NOT taste like she crab soup.. the crab dip was more of a shallow tablespoon of spinach dip; eggplant dip inedible.. both salads ordered not good.. the kale in the salad was hard.. had not been blanched or massaged.. my friend said the fried oysters were ok... Oh and the wrong wine served??? SO SO SAD... What an incredible setting.. I guess they'll do ok as they have a captive audience in the hotel guests... but forget the locals..if they're smart they'll avoid the Tides Coastal Kitchen ... heartbreaking... read more

Tides Coastal Kitchen is a beautiful destination restaurant along the Chesapeake Bay... upscale, inviting and with a lush creative menu. Four of us had dinner on a Sunday in August, choosing the outdoor patio... The drink menu is creative and fun, food was divine and ambiance is posh... only two caveats were a live performer, whose mic was WAY too loud (we sat as far from her as possible so we could have catch-up conversation, and she was still overpowering); and our server, Paris, who couldn't seem to force a smile throughout the entire experience... and we were hardly a difficult table, plus we spent a small fortune. I don't know what her issue was, but she was definitely a dour DOWNER amid an otherwise fab experience. read more

Not sure why we kept getting dirty glasses or why one was partially full of water upon being seated but the food was decent. Found this little gem online & I'm so happy I did! If you're looking for a place to eat and drink that's right on the beach, this is the place! They have a nice patio that's right on the beach, perfect for a lunch/dinner date & if you wanna go to the beach right after you eat. Our waiter& waitress were so nice. The food was amazing! If you like oysters I would definitely go for the Rockefeller Oysters! I heard they have a good happy hour but we came too early, we'll have to come again and try out their happy hour! Not the best hotel restaurant and bar when it comes to food, price and value. Hit or miss... crab dip was good. Chicken sandwich good. Mussels were not good at all but they took it off the bill hence the 4 star vs 3 star review. Service is good and gorgeous setup at the beach and pool. Drinks are delicious too. Just wish the food was better for the price. They do have a kids menu which is nice. read more

Paired all together to make the perfect bite. We have tried a lot of the menu, it does rotate around seasonally, but there are some items that are consistent. The burger was absolutely decadent but not overwhelming. I usually order the "secret", not so secret Shrimp dinner that's not on the menu anymore. Also, some parking spots on that side are reserved specifically for visitors to Shorebreak Pizza instead. We were lucky to find a parking spot, but I know it would be hard to find during peak times. The outside of the business isn't hard to miss. The color scheme makes me think of the desert southwest. The place looks pretty big from the outside, and to the left of the building, there is a curbside pickup area too. Once my mom and I came inside, the place was very busy. That wasn't too surprising considering it was around 4:15 pm on a Saturday. We thought there would be a wait for a table, but that was not the case. We were seated at a table near the bar area, but not necessarily in the bar area. There was some outdoor covered seating too, but we definitely wanted to stay inside. The overall feel inside also made me think of the desert southwest too given the color schemes inside. With it being so busy that day, it actually took a while for our server Chloe to come to the table. I get it with how busy it was. Once she was finally able to get to our table, she greeted herself and asked us what we wanted to drink and if we had any questions about the menu options (food and drink menus). Overall, this was a very good first experience here. They do have a rewards program and you can download their app as well. You get a coupon for 15% off your next purchase when signing up too. Sadly, I never got the chance to use it since some medical issues came up and didn't have the chance to use it before it expired. Hopefully I can get another coupon like that to use on a future visit. Once our server was able to get to our table, service was great and had no issues throughout the visit. A manager came by and asked about our experience too. I like it when I see management engaged with their patrons. If you're looking for something a little different with lots of food options to choose from, this place is worth checking out.

We made a reservation for six to celebrate my twins' 25th birthday and had a very disappointing experience. We waited over 20 minutes just to be greeted at the hostess stand, and the hostess was flippant and rude. Our server was scattered and inattentive--no water refills, no additional drink offers, dishes not cleared, and very little table attention throughout the meal. I had arranged in advance to bring a birthday cake and agreed to the serving fee. However, the manager brought the cake out before clearing the dirty plates, still in the box, and set it on a table next to us because there was no space. No utensils, no plates, and no knife were provided, so I had to cut and serve the cake myself using an extra to-go box on the table. My daughter even had to grab napkins from the bar just so we could serve it. Shockingly, our server whispered in my ear asking if he could have a piece of the cake before he had assisted with anything. Despite providing no actual cake service, we were charged the full $30 serving fee on top of the automatic 20% gratuity. Overall, this birthday dinner felt unorganized, inattentive, and not worth the cost. Very disappointing for what should have been a special celebration. The food itself was good, but certainly not great--nothing that justified the level of stress and disorganization we experienced. It's clear that the core issue is management, and that lack of leadership has created a culture of poor service from the moment you walk in the door. With better management, this restaurant could easily be much better, but as it stands now, the overall experience simply does not match the price or the expectations for a planned celebration. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Tides Coastal Kitchen at the Delta Hotel, and all I can say is -- WOW! Chef Richard Mason truly delivered an unforgettable meal that exceeded every expectation.
