My husband and I had dinner at this new Colombian restaurant two days ago. The place is very nicely decorated, clean and spacious. It is located in a nice area of downtown Danbury. When we arrived the music was excessively loud (it was around 6:30 pm, typical dinner time in this country, there was no party or dancing going on, there was only one other couple in a corner table and only one person at the bar). We politely asked one of the servers to please lower the volume because we couldn't even talk to each other. They lowered it, however, within a couple of minutes they increased the volume to what appeared to be even louder than before. We asked to move to another area, where the music would not be so deafening; this was better but still so intense that it was almost impossible to have a conversation. The fact that they increased the volume of the music was confusing to us. Was it done out of spite because they were upset by our request? Was it a sign of arrogance? Was it a way to make us feel unwelcome? We will never know for sure. While reviewing the cocktail menu, I noticed there was a mojito lulada; I asked our server what "lulada" meant. The server's explanation was that it was made with lula and she also said that it was alcoholic. Not knowing what lula is, I had to keep asking and was finally able to ascertain that it is a fruit similar to pomegranate. We proceeded to order classic mojitos, which were absolutely delicious and, without a doubt, the best part of our dinner. Ordering out entrees was a little peculiar. The same server who had a difficult time explaining to me what "lulada" meant, asked me how I wanted my steak cooked. I said I wanted it medium (my usual) but she proceeded to say maybe I should order it medium well. Thinking she knew something I didn't, I agreed. My husband ordered "Chuleta a la Plancha". The server started saying something about the chuleta did not have a bone, my husband said it did not matter if it was boneless and she continued to talk about the chuleta with bone was something different. It was confusing. My husband ordered the two side dishes he wanted; the server tried to persuade him to order two different ones. He knew what he wanted and insisted on it. We found the ordering process to be unusual, to say the least. Normally, when we order a meal at a restaurant, the process goes smoothly. Our meals were good. The steak that came with the "Classic Paisita" I ordered was tough and overcooked. I only had a small piece. Everything else was tasty. During our meal, another server came to talk to us. She was very pleasant. When discussing the unusual loud volume of the music, she said (while pointing towards the bar area) that the owner refused to lower it. As we were finishing our meals, a young woman came to our table and, initially, introduced herself as one of the owners. Later on, she said she was "the owner". She said she was not there when we arrived and had no explanation for the increase in volume of the music. We noticed that, while talking to her, the music was not as loud as before. We were never asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu or order coffee. This restaurant was not welcoming or hospitable. read more

The staff was amazing... I chose this place based on experiencing authentic delicious food. I ordered fajitas which was disappointing. It was served in a watery platter with slivers of chicken. Not a sizzling platter as fajitas should be. To be honest... Chilis and other establishments served better fajitas!!!!! They were kind and offered me other options, however I went specifically for fajitas. I should have e went to Don Quixote downs the road that never disappoints, but I wanted to try this place. read more

Unfortunately, I have to agree with some of the reviews on this page. As someone born and raised in Colombia, I was really excited when this place opened in Danbury. However, it's the basic things that matter more than the luxury. If they put the same effort into the food as they do into making the place look pretty, it would be much better. I went today Thursday 4/3/25 around 3 to 4pm drove about an hour to get to this restaurant that on social media seemed to show a lot of their delicious food. I was born and raised in Colombia and my husband is a chef so we know good food when we see it. Unfortunately today was not it! I wanted to order some Chicharrón for appetizers, and maybe Sancocho or bandeja paisa. Instead we left very disappointed and didn't even get to order anything because they barely had anything in the menu. We started off with drinks and they didn't have any Colombian sodas or natural juices. We then said ok fine so we order our meal we chose Bandeja Paisa and unfortunately they didn't even have chicharrón the waitress apologize for all the things they didn't have, but not polite at all she looked tired and not interested. This day was a waste of gas. I believe a restaurant shouldn't be open if the menu doesn't even have half the items or servers to convince us to stay and try something different. I've given this place so many chances, due to having that colombian loyalty. Yet, each time they fail me. The first time i came in they had just opened, i came in with my daughter and mother famished and excited to try out the only colombian restaurant in Danbury. The manager was super nice and she's the only reason i decided to give this place a few chances. The first time they served my daughter RAW FOOD!! Raw chicken fingers i couldn't believe it , she apologized and said the chef was out and that they would try again, once again the chicken fingers came out fried outside and raw on the inside and this point i was annoyed and told her to forget it how dare they serve this and to a CHILD! The portion was huge as well. I ordered an arepa with carne despechada [ shredded beef] the food was horrible ! The ingredients weren't all there and the arepa was RAW again! My mother was nice enough to not call the city and complain since the manager was nice enough to go into the kitchen and actually cook the food herself. Overall the food sucked. We decided to give them another chance and order some pandebonos, to our surprise they were drenched in butter and not fluffy at all. Not sure if these reviews are real but i can see a lot of the positive ones are left by friends of the owner or manager. I really want them to succeed but the waiter staff is inattentive, and don't even know the menu. The food I've had is just a disappointment to our culture. The place is nicely decor and has potential but they really need to hire someone that knows what they are doing. Overall 2 stars since the manager tried her best and the place is nice other than that if you're hungry don't bother you'll leave famished. Don't recommend. read more
