    Located in the mall on the 3rd floor so location may be a little hard to find. They do a happy hour special for food so check that out, I believe it starts at 2pm. They have all your classic dim sum choices and the food successfully satisfied my cravings.

    Baked bbq bun still the best in the workd. Siumai was so juicy, stir fried noodle lots of good wokhei, add a liitle hot sauce & u r in heaven; bbq pork rice roll excellent. Vegetable was a bit overcooked & soggy. Sesame lava ball (salty egg yolk) was great, beef brisket noodle had good light broth, some brisket pieces were too chewy & big, sticky rice in lotus leaf great

    I have been to several Tim Ho Wan's - the Hawaii location was my first one. Here are my fav dishes - spicy cucumber, har gow (shrimp dumplings), spicy wontons, green beans and flat rice wrapping with shrimps and chive. The spicy sauce in the other countries has more of a punch. My kid really enjoyed the milk tea with brown sugar jelly. The servers were amazing / so friendly and cordial. The decor was unique- with pots on the ceilings and amazing pics of food all around. The taste in other countries shows more umpf compared to the Hawaii location. We came in at 2pm and stumbled upon a few items on the happy hour menu.

    Those of you tourists may recognize this establishment. They have a few locations in the US - Vegas, So Cal, Houston, NY... I wanted to give it a higher star rating but it's mediocre at best Food 3/5 Service 3/5 Ambiance 3.5/5 Tried a few items: BBQ pork pan fried noodles - very oily so consider that before ordering this. Shrimp and pork steamed dumplings Pork dumplings Veggie dumplings - not recommend. It was not good IMO. And if you're trying to be healthy or vegan, this is not the restaurant for you. Taro dessert It's ok. If craving dumplings, you may get your fix. They do have Happy Hour. Since it's Waikiki, Kama'ainas get discounts bur apparently they do not provide Kama'aina discounts on weekends.

    Wow, first time trying this place again in over 6 years since my last review. They are currently promoting a 50% off kama'aina discount on select items "order as many as you want for 50% off" on Instagram which is why we decided to come in. After they checked our ID and we got the bill I noticed they did not apply the discount but only the usual 20% kama'aina. The server said we had to show it before we got the bill which also had an additional order that we did not order or receive, the promotion says just show your ID not that we had to show them the post at all. They did adjust the bill after fixing the additional charge and adding the 50% off for the select items but only gave us 50% off for one of each of the dishes, which is pretty off putting since the post says order as many as you want for 50% off but at that point I didn't have the time or energy to wait for them to fix it again. We ordered the brisket with dry noodles ($17), it was okay I'm assuming the sauce was from the brisket which wasn't much flavor and the brisket was very tough but anyway we got almost half way through before finding a bug inside. We also ordered the salted egg buns but it never came.

    Ever since they switched locations, it seems the quality of their food has gone down. You used to be able to taste the consistency in good taste, texture, and freshness every time. Now, it's the opposite. I heard they were Michelin recommended at one point. Not sure if they've been able to uphold and maintain that reputation, though. The texture of their shrimp look-fun was incredibly mushy and wet on my last visit. None of their food tasted as hot nor as fresh as it used to. I'm pretty sure their prices have also increased. The parking lot is a bit of a hassle getting in and out of and always seems crowded. Their new location doesn't feel as open and airy as their last. Rather, it feels a bit cramped and not as welcoming with the artificial lighting. Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon.

    My husband and I were so excited to eat at Tim Ho Wan, but when we got there, we weren't that impressed. The atmosphere was nice and quaint- nothing to rave about, and it was quiet since we got there before the lunch rush. We ordered the wontons in a spicy sauce, shrimp rice rolls, shu mai, daikon cake, spare ribs, stir-fried noodles with char shu pork, and the lava custard balls. Everything tasted okay to us; there was nothing to really rave about. We've eaten at many dim sum places, and we both felt this didn't compare to others we've tried. I felt like the food tasted a little sweeter than I'm used to, and a lot of it came out at room temperature. We both concluded that our favorite item on the menu was the lava custard balls. The lava balls were warm on the inside and crispy on the outside but everything else came out room temperature and oily. The service was lackluster as well. We both finished our water and didn't get a refill but once we asked for the check, we had refills of water. All in all, we both concluded that we won't be coming back to Tim Ho Wan. Prices were high, and we both concluded that we can go elsewhere like in Chinatown for better tasting dim sum.

    My absolute favorite from here are the shrimp har gow, garlic green beans, and baked buns. The green beans were different during this recent visit, it wasn't as garlicky and didn't have much taste. Other than that, food is always yummy and they're quick here. Lately, we've coming in when it wasn't as busy and I love that! It used to be super busy at their old location. Tim Ho Wan is one of the cleanest Chinese restaurants, a huge bonus!!!

    New location of Tim Ho Wan seems smaller but has nice ambiance. We came for early dinner because of the time zone difference, which just happened to be happy hour. They have 20% off and $5 drinks. We really liked our dim sum order: 1. Beef ribs - so well marinated, amazing flavor, a little bit fatty, on the oilier side, has potatoes underneath 2. Shrimp and pork footballs - is what I call them, the best quality footballs we think 3. Radish cake - was ok, a little soft and closer to Taiwanese style than HK style imo, and didn't like the sriracha sauce too much, not the best radish cake I've ever had but to me radish cake is like what I've heard people say about pizza - you can't go too wrong 4. Stir fry noodles with char siu- the star of the meal, they were thin and crispy and wok fried. No white onions which is good for my dietary restrictions. We loved this. 5. Lettuce with sauce - nice and light umami, we got our veggies in 6. Osthmanthus jelly with Goji berry - a nice dessert to cut the heavier dimsum dishes

    Since it's close to our hotel, we decided to have some dim sum at Royal Hawaiian centre for lunch. Ordered congee, spare ribs, beef balls and baked pork buns Everything tasted just okay When we have a rental car next week, we'll go to KAPIOLANI restaurant for more varieties of dim sum and much cheaper prices too

    Ahhhhh still my favorite dim sum in the whole island, possibly whole state. Thanks for reopening! I've been waiting for a long time! (Also finally I decided to go to Waikiki!) I normally don't bother writing updates but I have to share my experience on their reopening!! Growing up in HK, the capital of dim sum, this place, originally from HK, really reminds me of home. It's not your regular dim sum. It's a bit elevated in terms of flavor, quality, presentation, and also prices lol. They still have the staples of dim sum, but they just do it better because the chefs care about quality over quantity. My favs include eggplant with shrimp, chive and shrimp dumplings with transparent sticky wrapping, chicken feet in oyster sauce (not your typical orange garlic sauce), and my hubs' favorite baked bbq pork bun. Although not my fav, their tofu skin and deep fried shrimp dumplings with wasabi mayo were also enjoyable. Can't forget to mention they did fried rice the correct way - charred with wok hei (the aroma from using a wok). Real FRIED rice, not just mixing rice with ingredients in a pot. Their decor was modern, chic and cute too. The designer did a great job with the ceiling centerpiece and the wall decor with the steamed basket lids! Also enjoy the big arches inside the restaurant and as the window frames as well. Offers 1 hour parking validation directly from Tim ho wan. Kamaaina 3 hours at the office on ground floor. Happy hour 2-6pm with 15% off. I'm coming next time! So so so so happy they opened back up. Go check them out. I hope they do well!

    Fried noodles at $9.95! Shame on them!

    The cost of our dim sum and fried noodle lunch in Waikiki was outrageous. Coupled with the $3 validated parking at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, we ended up spending $70 for lunch. The portions are small, the fried noodle without any meat in it was $9.95. I had to hold myself from laughing when the waiter brought out the noodle dish as the serving was very small...enough for only one person. Toppings for their fried noodle included carrots, bean sprouts, and green onion. I will never go back to this restaurant. They offer Kamaaina rates but it is definitely not worth it. I read that the owner of Jolibee Chicken in the Philippines now owns Tim Ho Wan.

    First time eating at Tim Ho Wan since their move to the new location in Royal Hawaiian Center. They are now located in Building A on third floor... right next to the stairs leading to the parking garage. So, it's super easy if you're driving and parking here. It's wide open, bright, and clean. Menu has pictures of the food, typical of Chinese restaurants. Service was fast and friendly. You are given a small clipboard with a paper list of the available entrees, and you just check what you want. Easy peasy. Food was excellent, highly recommended.

    Better late than never, but come too late and missed out on the good stuff?…read more Honolulu Seafood Restaurant is a sister restaurant to Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. Located in Downtown in the same space where Yong Sing, Mandalay, and the short-lived Bourbon Street used to be. Inside feels and looks essentially the same as the prior restaurants. Huge, open, two levels. Would you believe there was once a time where the second floor was an option to sit because it was just that busy? Hours is basically 10am everyday till 3pm, then 5-930pm. Seems like the hours are geared towards Downtown workers. Where to park? 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, park in the Ali'i Place Parking garage. Entrance is right past the restaurant. Only 75 cents per half hour and restaurant validates one dollar. After 5pm on weekdays, and 8-1am on weekends, park at Bishop Square Parking. Entrance is across from the restaurant, entrance from the left lane of Alakea. Cost is $1.50 with validation. The regular menu is exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. However, the dim sum is not the case. It's much, much less. There's only 16 total, and 7 more on weekends only. It's essentially the bare basics (but no beef ball!). All the dim sum looks exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant, but everything was on the bland side and just felt like it was missing something. Steamed Spareribs was one note and meat was not as tender. Beef Look Funn was good. The look funn had perfect thinness and texture. If have this dish, how come cannot have steamed beef balls? Chicken Feet was good. Soft, tasty, and meaty. But just ate and felt one note. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings was pretty good. Pan fried very well. Generous amount of filling. Just on the bland side. Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf was pretty good! Soft, moist mochi rice with a good amount of tasty filling. The Bean Curd Roll with Pork was probably the most flavorful dim sum of the meal. Jam-packed with tasty and flavorful filling. Overall, the dim sum was decent and almost similar to Kapiolani Seafood, but it was a touch on the bland side and a slight step below. Service was good. Friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quick. Inside was cool, spacious, and comfortable. I want to come back on my lunch break! I don't mind dim sum'ing solo! Hopefully there'll be more dim sum choices. I remember seeing on social media they had some unique items only at this location. But I guess I'm too late! **I heard some news, maybe rumors, but the Kapiolani Seafood location might be forced to move due to that and the next lot being torn down for..... you guessed it, more condos! The outer crust is a thin soybean layer which had an excellent crunch. Inside, is a generous portion of shrimp patty that is perfect in flavor and texture. I will gladly return because both my lunch and dinner experiences were spot on. We all left fully satisfied!

This Hangzhou dish is pork belly braised in soy sauce, Shaoxiang wine, and rock sugar until it's tender and melts in your mouth. The pork bell is tied with a string to hold its shape, and staff will use a scissors to remove it. This dish is savory, sweet and has a rich caramelization; served with broccoli to balance the richness of the sauce. Eaten with rice, I really enjoyed this dish! Well plated and executed! Portions are generous, but price point may be contentious, as some dishes appear to be over-priced, like the char siu look fun. We arrived mid-morning on a weekday, and it was not very crowded. Staff was very friendly, attentive, and bilingual, which made communication easy. Service was quick and efficient. No moving carts, as you're given a sheet of listed dim sum to check off the ones you want to order. The large interior is spacious and clean. Its banquet hall can hold a max of 30+ tables for a private party. There are also smaller private rooms. Extensive renovations were made after the previous restaurant closed. Hours of operation are Thurs to Tues 8a to 9p and Wed 8a to 3p. Regular entrees are not prepared until 10a when the cooks arrive for work. Private parking available in back of the restaurant, municipal parking lots are nearby, and metered street parking are available. Extensive delicious menu offerings, generous portions, and efficient and friendly customer service will likely result in return visits to try other items on the menu. We happened to get a good parking spot so heck, why not go check it out. I read a Yelper's review later that it has parking in the back. Ok, now we know! It's located on King St. near the red dragon pillars. Dining area is pretty big- lots of tables. There are no roving dimsum carts- you order on a sheet the item you want and quantity. What surprised me right off were the prices. I know things are rough for businesses and price hikes are necessary for the bottom line but $5.95/ $7.35 for dim sum? If you want steamed look fun, it'll cost you $10-11. Yikes! Our usual dim sum place is about $1-3 less. But to be fair, the size of the dimsum is huge. The chicken feet we had was sooo plump and the other dim sum looked like overstuffed balls. So okay, maybe the price is fair? Each plate came with 3. The food was tasty too except the chao zhou dumplings with peanut was salty for our taste. Service was okay-the place was hopping so the servers are too busy to check on your tea, order more food, etc. Go up and pay your bill.

Our order was taken quickly. We decided to get the beef chow fun, yang chow fried rice, and cheong fun. The cheong fun was good, especially after adding hoisin sauce. The texture was soft and the portion was quite decent. The chow fun was also yummy. It was tasty without being overbearing. The fried rice was our favorite. It was flavorful and included a variety of ingredients. The prices were not bad either, considering the portion sizes. We hope to be back one day to try more of what they have!
