My favorite Thai food in the city. Everything is so fresh and delicious. They're open for lunch, close a bit then reopen for dinner. It's very quaint and the decor is very cool with Asian decor and also a clock collection. I always get the pad Thai, level one and a half. Some undertones of spice but not very hot which I prefer. My friend gets the pineapple curry, level 4. Super hot! The moneybags are a good appetizer and so cute! I see people ordering the duck a lot so I'll try that next. Loved all of the appetizers! The Fresh Rolls were probably the best I've had than in most restaurants. My friend and I shared all of the appetizers and even she agreed. We started with Chicken Fresh Rolls. They were a great size and very refreshing. Loved that they used more than a couple of herbs and lettuce. Sometimes they're too basic, this was almost perfect. A good amount of protein to noodles and veggies. I loved my Seafood Pad Thai! I also added pork and the pork was nice and tender. I've never had mussels before in Pad Thai so it was different hit nevertheless good. The noodles were nice and bouncy still and the sauce was the perfect about of umami and slightly sweet. Sometimes it can be too sweet and I was afraid the noodles would be overcooked because it looked like it was drowned in sauce. It was more saucy than I'm used to seeing and sometimes the warm sauce will overcook the noodles while it's warm but they were a great consistency. I got Spice level 2 and it was a perfect medium for me. My friend ordered the Pad See Ew and ordered Spice level 2 as well, we both tasted hers and both of our mouths and lips were on fire. My friend's face turned red, she likes spicy but it was almost too spicy for her. She still enjoyed it despite it being spiced than she anticipated it would be. The flavors were still good. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. It's in an older building, but it looked nice and clean. We were quickly seated from the host stand but it did take awhile for us to be greeted by our server after we were sat. It was relatively busy for a Tuesday so we understood. Our food came out in a timely manner. Although, I feel like the price our server could've checked on us a little bit more inbetween our courses. Especially when we received our entrées. We had a concert to go to, I so we happen to notice How it was harder to get our service attention when we were ready to leave. I wanted to get a dessert, but we didn't have enough time this time since we had a little bit of a time constraint and it took a little bit longer to get our service attention to us check and to go boxes. No rating, just in shock that they charged $13.00 for one order of mango sticky rice. Owner claims she drives to Florida and brings them back from her authentic Thai mango tree in Florida. That they are different. The mango i was served tasted and looked just like any other mango I have eaten. Been to Thailand, lived in DC, have eaten in some excellent Thai restaurants, never paid that much for mango sticky rice. I haven't been to Time 4 Thai since it opened many years ago, but that changed today. I met a friend for lunch at Noon. There was only one other table when I arrived. I asked if it was seat yourself but the host/server chose a table near the entrance for us. The restaurant is on the darker side, but it was a bright day so it wasn't a big issue. The lunch portion of the menu had a note that said it was indefinitely unavailable. So just main courses and pricing for lunch. We started with the summer rolls with tofu ($7) and then I ordered the Thai fried rice )$12.95) with chicken, one of my absolute favorites. As we waited for our food several other tables were sat, but it wasn't crowded. There was only one server but she managed to take orders and deliver food to the 5 tables. I don't believe I was asked for a drink refill, but food arrived relatively quickly. The summer rolls were good. Packed with lettuce, and had the traditional cucumber, carrot, and tofu. The peanut dipping sauce was thick and had chopped peanuts on top. Our entrees arrived and they smelled fantastic. The Thai fried rice was perfect - mixture of sweet and spicy! I love it. My only complaint was the portion size. My friend and I both ordered rice but my portion was significantly smaller. It didn't seem like a dinner sized portion. Total cost for two people was $48 including tip. The strange thing about payment is that our server came to the table with a credit card machine. After running my card she asked if I wanted to leave a tip and if so what dollar amount or percent. Totally threw me off and made me slightly uncomfortable. I was told that they have always done it that way, but if the owner is reading this please change to a printed receipt or let the customer enter the tip themselves. I feel like they encompass the best overall of the local Thai places. The flavors are authentic (I've been to Thailand several times). The atmosphere is casual but also nice enough for a sit down date night. We came here for a quick meal for an early dinner and it was pretty dead. Considering how empty it was, service was pretty slow. 1) Pad Thai - (1 star*) horrendous. I knew something was off about the pad thai when it was dropped off because the color was off. It tasted like they only used soy sauce for flavor. Noodles sauteed in soy sauce. I had been wanting Pad Thai for a long, long time and I was really happy with what I ordered there which wasn't Pad Thai. I ended up going with spicy noodles that street vendors offer in Thailand that my Thai friend used to make for me when, in the before times, you'd go to people's homes. The dish wasn't as spicy as I had hoped or asked for. When I've had Thai food before and asked for it spicy I was tap dancing on the thin line betwixt regret and bliss. I have to say, my personal preference is that it wasn't my favorite Thai food, but cannot take off for my personal preference. There are only a few, but this one sticks out to me more than the others. First- the prices are very fair, it's not too expensive, but priced just right for what you're getting at a good quality restaurant (not to mention most restaurants in this area are VERY expensive). Second- the food always tastes good, and the spice levels are always what you're expecting to get. We love spicy food and both requested 4/5 spice level and boy, did they deliver! I got the Khao Soi, a northern Thai dish, and it was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. I ate from here the weekend before Thanksgiving and I ordered a red curry. The taste was good, but half way in I almost chewed on this thin, hard, and sharp object. It was like glass, it shocked me that I could have really gotten messed up if I ate this thing. Surely putting it in there this was not intentional, but I don't think I'm going back. Since I was traveling and I got this dish to-go, I was not going to drive 20 minutes to complain when I didn't even know what I would have wanted.
