Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Hominy soup was over salted (it takes a lot for me to say that!) and its hominy was scarce. It consisted mostly of salty broth that tasted of...salt, with elusive bits floating somewhere in the salty depths. Pizza managed to be soggy, despite a good blister on the cheese. The pizza was topped with broccoli rabe (which was unnervingly designated by its less common name "broccoli rape" on the menu) and sausage, which sounded good but tasted heavy. Bar service was friendly but slow, though only four people populated its stools. Wine list may have been slightly better than most Florida lists, but don't expect anything interesting by the glass. I'm glad they were doing something other than standard Italian fare, but I wish they could have executed it better. Better than bad but could be better. read more

Love the foie gras appetizer. I just love this place. You have to go there to know why. It's in a strip mall but when you're inside you kind of forget. I was staying across the street for business and wanted a good meal that didn't involve a tray or lukewarm quesadillas. Enter Timo. Yelp reviews led me here and I'm so glad they did. I sat at a high top table in the bar area (eating solo) and while the service was a bit sporadic, it was excellent. Great recommendations for wine, entree, and dessert. The lasagna and beets were a perfect pairing -- and the dessert (I forget what it was now) was a perfect exclamation mark to the meal. The joint seemed like a great neighborhood spot that really didn't have a neighborhood -- small groups, loners (me), and big groups alike were well taken care of and the atmosphere was upbeat. Fantastic! Our server (Antem?) was wonderful and the food was even better. We ordered the foie gras and found it second only to Paris! The Wagyu beef was wonderfully seasoned and cooked to perfection, the garlic red was yummy, and even the spinach was great! The mushroom pizza was delish too! The bar drinks were spot on. Went looking for a good Miami Spice dinner, and was not at all disappointed. The menu had a very nice variety; we sampled the duck confit and the ahi tuna. Both were delicious. For entrees, we chose the Florida striped bass with braised endive and asparagus, and a petite filet mignon. Again, outstanding in all respects. Dessert did not disappoint either, with both the almond puff pastry and the mango mojito key lime tart a lovely finish to a lovely meal. Service was perfectly attentive, as well. read more

Timo's is absolutely a wonderful dining experience, and the next time I am in Sunny Isles definitely plan on visiting their sister restaurant (Basil Park) a few doors down. Very impressed with the food, simple yet well executed. Black and white truffle pizza a must, the octopus was cooked to perfection, the lamb shank is delicious, and the seafood stew was just ok compared to other dishes. The pasta bolognese is outstanding. Deserts were good. The only down side is the service, not attentive enough, have to ask for stuff too much otherwise i would have given a 5 star for this kind of joint! I have been very skeptical of South Florida's dining choices for a while now. Disastrous trip to Market 17couple of years ago (which still gets mostly 5 stars on Yelp despite being a complete fake), made me think that over-tanning replaces your taste buds. We've been to Timo once before, and while the food was great, there was a feeling of being overcharged and overserviced. The bus boy was hovering over our table and so was the manager. On this visit, we sat at the bar. We came really late, so the place wasn't too crowded. We had a red flight and a white flight. My wife praised the Sauvignon Blanc, while I found my Pinot Noir to be stellar. We ordered Scallops Crudo that were incredible, Mediterranean Potato Salad that felt like an interesting idea, but was completely meaningless, and a Wild Mushroom Toretllino that was fantastic. Raw egg inside gave it a finishing touch. We shared a pizza that had a great crust and was as light as air. One of the reasons that this review has 5 stars is our lovely bartender Svetlana. Very professional, knowledgeable and straightforward. I hate to disburse stereotypes, but she was as typically Latvian as any that I have met before. Not impressed given the amazing location and ambience that is supposed to be at the restaurant. The Steak order at the table was dry and overcooked and a lot of the main courses lacked salt. The mista salad had no taste so I had to keep adding in different parts of the meal into the dish. The waiters were more focused on talking to each other than coming to check to see whether or not the customers were happy with ther meals. This restaurant's food was good - don't get the cheese and sausage plate - the sausage is like 20 yrs old, maybe there's hidden pink slime to make it extra chewy! My husband loved the sea bass, the best ever. But the shrimp and scallops were in a sea of milky sauce not so good. They only serve beer and wine so you know us from Chicago expect martinis at any truly good restaurant. And yes they have a terrible no beach view. Great Italian restaurant. Went on New Years Eve, sat outside, and had a great time. The menu was exquisite and they are willing to modify items if requested. Service was well attentive and friendly. Noticed that service slowed as the night went on and the restaurant became busier. Recommend getting there when it opens for dinner (which is 6 pm) or be prepared to wait a bit if busy. This is close to where we live so we thought we would give it a try. Pretty crowded for a Tuesday night, which is a good sign! We ate at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and personable. We had the millionaires salad, which had the right amount of acidity. My fiance had the bone marrow, which he loved. We then split a pasta dish and a pizza. My wife and I have been here often enough that we are considered regulars. We love it ! The service and food are always top notch. While they often have specials and menu items that aren't traditional Italian dishes, I almost always go for their Italian because it's just so good. I had never heard of Timo but I was meeting friends and we needed to find somewhere between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. What a terrific surprise! The service is among the best I've had in any restaurant in South Florida, the menu is creative and varied and they used fresh grapefruit juice in my vodka-grapefruit. The food is outstanding. I had a stuffed chicken breast with risotto that was moist and perfectly cooked. Two of my friends had a steak that was a tad fatty but delicious. The chocolate genoise flan and the macadamia brittle desserts were unusual and once again showed off the kitchen's creativity. I even loved their decaf coffee! read more

I think I'm in love. Finally tried Timo and if you're obsessed with truffles like me, you need to go there now. Their black and white pizza has a super thin crust and is covered in black truffles and gooey cheese. Yum. And their truffle risotto oh my. This is my favorite restaurant in the Sunny Isles-Aventura-Hollywood area. Unfortunately, there is pretty slim pickins up here. I had the mozarella balls with oven roasted tomatoes and eggplant as an appetizer. Forget everything else this is really good. As my main course I had snapper with shrimp raviolis in spicy broth.
