I ate here with my husband and his grandmother, the food was decent. When I say decent, that means it was good but not worth the price. We decided to eat outside because inside was about as cold as the inside of a frigidaire. The veggie/poatao mix was again, decent but the potatoes were still a bit hard. I'm allergic to carrots and asked the waitress if the side salad had raw carrots (I wanted a side salad instead of coleslaw since the coleslaw has raw carrots), she responded and said "I'll just give you extra fries instead of the coleslaw because we cant substitute coleslaw.". I understand what she means and hey, rules are rules. The issue is that I didn't ask to substitute, I asked to have a side salad. Suggesting to give me extra fries was a bit irritating as I wanted a salad, not more fries. Eating outside was a MAJOR mistake. The amount of flies that were swarming us was unbelievable. Now dont get me wrong, I understand we ate outside. However, I have eaten at many restaurants outside and have never experienced so many flies as this place had. I almost thought I was at a local neighborhood park bbq. So we eat our food all while at war with swarming flies. The lobster bisque was good and the clam chowder was so-so. As we are leaving, a gentleman decided it would be a bright idea to spray raid as we are walking back to the car. It wouldve been nice had he sprayed prior to us eating or after we left. The taste of raid in my mouth wasnt the dessert I had in mind. Spraying the pathway that people are literally walking into was not the best idea. Def wont be returning. read more

Great place to eat! First off, the staff is delightful ! Everyone makes sure that you are taken care of, that your food is just how you want it and that you're just happy with everything! The food is amazing. So many options! Everything taste fresh and hot! I would recommend the Kaboom Shrimp appetizer and the Fried Mahi Strips. You receive a lot of food for a great price. read more

Probably the best service I've had. For being first-timers there we got a free sample of their crawfish, which was delicious! Everyone working there is welcoming and all the customers looked as happy and satisfied as my family and I were. I ordered crawfish and shrimp, that was super delicious. My dad ordered the gator, fish and frog legs also very delicious and my mom ordered the crawfish that we had tried as a sample. Great experience and will come back. There was also a live foot long lobster as well. read more

We enjoyed our time at this restaurant. We went to celebrate my bday. The customer service was great from the moment we walked in.. had an awesome waiter.. he gave us the run down of the place because we were first timers... the food was really good fresh fish with nice portions. My experience was horrible. We are Florida natives, and the seafood didn't seem fresh to me. I think the apps were frozen and deep fried. I bit into a hush puppy and had to spit it into my napkin. Really disappointed. Was one of the worst experiences from the pretentious server to the food. We actually didn't even eat our food. We paid the overpriced bill, left and found another place to eat. read more

Loved the vibe of this place. A nice cozy restaurant with a really cool fishing feel, like it belongs right on the water at the pier. The food was just okay though. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but neither would I decline an invitation to go. I had the fish, shrimp, and clam cake combo with coleslaw and fries. It was tasty and not super over fried, but it just wasn't amazing to me like the reviews said. My boyfriend doesn't eat seafood so he got a bacon cheeseburger and really liked it. I also had a cup of clam chowder, but it didn't live up to the hype. It was too thick and it had a ton of potatoes. I am a huge fan of potatoes but even I thought it was too much. There wasn't enough liquid in the soup to offset the thickness. Taste-wise though, it was excellent. I may have just had a bad scoop of it. We had an apple pie for dessert. It was good but it was really small. Overall I left wishing I tried a different entree, maybe something not fried and more unique. read more

Great spot! The food is so fresh so delicious great choices on the menu. The place itself and the staff have great energy .I've seen live music there on the occasion. we've been there numerous times and it has always been an excellent experience. First time there and definitely going back! Our server was so friendly and attentive. The decor is very cute and welcoming, also everything was very clean. We ordered conch fritters and they were good, I liked the bits of corn in there. Their hot sauce was just the right type of spice for my taste! The shrimp tacos were yummy, I had the ones with the funny name, so good! I ate everything, and can't wait to go back! read more

Awww man this place was a disappointment. Got the Tilapia, Shrimp, & Crab Cake combo (All Fried).... Psssh I was better off eating at Hooks/Snappers... The quality of food is GARBAGE. Food wasn't what I was expecting AT ALL... Kaboom Shrimp was good but how can you mess up (Dynamite/BangBang Shrimp) Kanye Shrughs*** Oh yea my shorty had the "Lobster" Bique... Lol where was the meat and her lobster taco wasn't good either... I'm not hard to please but this place I won't go back ..The server was nice tho! read more

Little pricey, but good food and great service. Order the deep fried snapper. At $22 a pound that's up there for a South Florida venue in a strip center. However, it was cooked to perfection. I had the specialty sauce on the side. Would have been too much poured over the fish. read more

Great little place with a big fish loving heart. Stopped in on a late Saturday afternoon for a post-kid football lunch. We were all very hungry and left very full, with a couple of to-go containers. Free tastings of their super flavorful, lightly breaded, tender fish tenders was a nice way to start. Our wonderful server, Cassandra, was very helpful and pleasant. With out her, our mouths would have been watering forever, staring at the menu. Whole grilled fish special or cracked conch? So many seafood tacos, so little time. We landed on a variety of tacos - lobster, calamari, mahi. Cracked conch, clam strips and gator bites. Everything was delicious, including the coleslaw side which was awesome. The decor is whimsical with lots of interesting stuff hanging from the ceiling. Wonderful seafood and a great find in a busy neighborhood strip mall. Cant wait to go back. read more

My friends raved about this place so we decided to finally try. Had the Shrimp Po Boy, Famous Fried Fish Tacos, and the Grilled Mahi Tacos. Everything was super yummy and they give such a generous portion of fish on their tacos. The only thing we wouldn't order again is the Shrimp Po Boy. I didn't like the sweetness in the bread and the overall sandwich was just not our taste. We would return again for the tacos though! Service was mediocre. YAY!! They are completely open for business and still doing take out/order pick up for anyone who doesn't want to stay! They have indoor widely separated tables, and lots of outdoor tables all in the shade. The food at Tin Fish is phenomenal, with the owner/chef in the kitchen most of the time! My fave is the Kaboom Shrimp. I love the new wide variety of wines they have now as well. They're even expanding to make another seating area and an official bar that you can actually sit at now! I can't wait to go back!! Yum! read more

Loved the atmosphere and the service almost as much as the delicious seafood. The mussels appetizer was especially wonderful! I enjoyed my fried grouper sandwich, and my husband's snapper with an amazing cream sauce (I can't remember the name of it) was some of the bestt we've ever had. And the serving was huge! This restaurant was absolutely delicious! I had been wanting to try it out so I went for lunch when my parents were in town! I started with the shrimp corn chowder (soup of the day) and it was amazing! I then got a blackened mahi sandwich and my parents split the fried fish sandwich! They said their fried fish sandwich was great and my mahi sandwich was also great, so I most certainly will return to try more of their seafood items out! read more

So we came here on a whim since we left my daughter at a concert at BB&T...got there & the wait was a bit long. Hostess was VERY pleasant and tried accommodating everyone as much as possible. Repeat patrons seem to want preferred seating over other patrons already waiting ahead of them at the restaurant. Thankfully the hostess was on point letting them know about the waitlist. After a long wait we finally were seated and ordered our food. They had live music which was a jazz band playing some nice tunes. Our appetizers came out quickly along with our waters but after that it was downhill. After putting in our main order it took them at least 30 minutes. Unfortunately my grilled fish and shrimp platter arrived cold. Sent it back and waited for them to reheat the same food. Taste was good but the overall experience was hampered by the several hiccups we had...water refills took very long, cold food & seating arrangement confusions. While the employees were welcoming maybe advising that the wait time is 20-30 minutes instead of 10 would allow patrons to wait it out or go elsewhere. The extended wait alone can cause preconceived thoughts of what's to come setting it up for failure...but I'm sure this was just an extra busy night! read more

I was there with my wife around 8pm last Saturday. It was our first visit to this restaurant. It was very busy so I figured the food would be great. We were seated inside after 30 minutes of waiting but that was ok because it gave us time to look at the menu. The waitress came and we wanted some water, that took a long time. We ordered the Shrimp cocktail and the Lobster roll. The menu said the Shrimp Cocktail came with 5 Colossal pieces of Shrimp - but I have had many Shrimp cocktails in my life and those were the smallest shrimps I have ever seen in a shrimp cocktail. Ok the Lobster Roll was the best I have ever had even better than the ones I had in Maine. But the french fries were not cooked and cold and the cole slaw was dry.I told the waitress but by the time she showed again we had finished the great lobster Roll and could not wait for the fries to be cooked, read more

I really liked this place, from the decor to the staff to (most importantly) the food. Too many places now don't feel like an event and/or an enjoyable time. This one did. We had the lobster bisque, which was excellent. Even my husband who ordinarily is not a fan of either lobster or bisque, enjoyed it tremendously. Every drop. I only wish I had some bread to wipe the bowl out with after ... and yes I know how that sounds. But it was so good I don't even care ... Next was the fried fish and shrimp. Both fresh and high quality, and even though fried, were not heavy. We were not left with the heavy "oh my god, what did we just eat" feeling. Pleasant satiation not overwhelming lethargy. My husband the coleslaw eater was also very favorably impressed with it - not sweet like you find 9 times out of 10. I like the decor - the previous comment about rustic yet industrial fits perfectly. For some indefinable reason I felt very comfortable there. It was soothing somehow - I can't explain it. The staff was also amazing - friendly, informative and extremely attentive. I've already recommended it to people and have put it on my favorites lists. read more

Both visits were for birthdays---the first was mine, when I happened to mention to our server that we were celebrating my birthday and she helped make the experience great. She then exclaimed, "You should have told me it was your birthday! We'll give you a dessert. Would you like to take it home?" Which I did, and the Seven Layer Chocolate Cake was thoroughly enjoyed for breakfast on two different days. I still can't get over the fudge layers in the sponge sandwiched by a light, creamy chocolate mousse. The plated cake was much cuter and better dressed with surrounding raspberry sauce instead of it being in a takeout cup, but the divine tastes of that cake are unchanged. Seeing that the majority of their locations are in the north, with the southernmost locations before Florida being Virginia and South Carolina, I feel lucky that we have a location in South Florida (and a second in Boca Raton). The hostesses are friendly, as well as the servers, and each one asks about allergies in the party. I saw on their website that they have a commitment to accommodating food allergies and a protocol for communicating allergies to the staff and kitchen. The most recent visit started with us repeating allergies to our server after telling our hostess, as he wasn't informed of them. It never hurts to confirm that everyone is on the same page but it was a little odd. I'm not sure what those purple allergy cards are supposed to do if they're not written on. However, like I mentioned, they are really serious about food allergies. When we were placing orders, our server would tell us whether there were allergens in the dishes we mentioned. Our server during my first visit even went back to the kitchen to check whether there were eggs in a sauce that were in one of the dishes we were interested in, without being asked. The inside is clean, beautiful and well lit, and the bar is spacious with plenty of screens if you're able to make it in for their happy hour at the bar from 3-6 PM on Mondays-Fridays. We had the guacamole and chips ($9), which had a surprisingly generous portion of genuine guacamole to the point where we ate all of the white and blue tortilla chips that came with it. I asked our bartender if we could get more chips by any chance, and another bartender heard and went straight to the kitchen and came out with a bowl of warmed tortilla chips. I had an Old Fashioned, which was slightly sweeter than I'm used to, but still having great citrus aromas. I recommend having a cocktail on happy hour as they are typically $15-17 on the regular menu while they are $10 during happy hour. For dinner during my second visit, we were seated in a lounge appearing area to the left of the entrance with long couches for the booth seats and an unfinished cut of wood table. Let me tell you about the food before I run out of space! Bread service: I know it's weird to have to pay for bread, but that's the restaurant world we live in. It's worth the $5 to get warm, fluffy bread dressed with everything seasoning and coming with herbed butter, pesto and an olive tapenade, all a choose-your-own-bread-adventure sampler. You can tell nothing on the plate came out of a jar. Philly cheesesteak rolls: Everyone can eat all 3 of the rolls that come in this dish along with the crispy onion rings that come on top of them. Resist the urge and share the tender beef and gooey cheese inside of these rolls. NY strip: Tender, well grilled and seasoned, accompanied by tasty green beans and mashed potatoes made with just the right amount of butter where you taste more potato than butter or cream. Crab crusted haddock: A generous portion of flaky, slightly buttery haddock with an aromatic crab cake on top. We loved the jasmine rice that came with it, from the degree of cooked to a little oil covering. Lobster roll: It was a summer limited item until August 31, and I'm sorry to say it was perfectly buttered, toasted and brimming with plump lobster meat. You were able to get it cold with a cole slaw, but a hot roll is definitely the move. Did I convince you to go try their food? If not, read this again. I'll see you there.

Quickly thereafter, Alexia came outside to introduce herself and the other bartenders (I am sorry I forgot the others names). SHE WAS AMAZING!!!! The staff was so accommodating and took exceptional care of us. No matter what we needed, they were right there. The food was DELICIOUS and came out so quick. No More Today. I had fun eating at Tin Fish . Yum Yum . It's was aboustly Great. You have one in California you must tackle that word great. Signore Chef J. Randy took my picture . Despite all the positive word of mouth I was not impressed with Tin Fish. Fish sandwich was nothing special. Clam strips were ok, but not what you would expect at a fresh seafood place and the sauce was horrible. The biggest disappointment was the cocktail sauce. I asked for an extra one for my clams, as I do at every restaurant, and was charged extra for it. Looked on the menu later after the fact and it was listed on the menu, though I didn't know beforehand b/c when you order your not looking at the menu to see if a side of sauce with your clams cost extra. Usually your not thinking your getting charged extra for extra cocktail sauce. Besides that I asked for the sauce when the clams came to the table, before I tried the sauce. The sauce taste was horrible. It was the worst cocktail sauce I've ever had. I'm not sure what they do different here, but it was not like the sauce you get anywhere else and that's not for the better. If I had tasted it before asking for another I wouldn't have even asked in the first place. It wasn't that much extra, but I feel that's a really classless move charging for an extra tiny little thing of cocktail sauce, especially when it ain't good and don't taste like cocktail sauce normally does. read more

The most amazing Seafood in South Florida. The seafood is always made fresh made to order. You have to try the stuff Lobster it's to die for. And the sauces OMG homemade tartar sauce hot sauce and more. You will not be disappointed bring the whole family. You're going to get five star quality food at a down-to-earth Homestyle restaurant. Hats off to the chef. oh in the clam chowder and lobster bisque I promise you you will not find a more creamy and delicious soup anywhere believe me I've shopped around at different restaurants. The potatoes in the soup are soft but not mushy the claim has an excellent fresh taste in the thickness is just right. The best part is that since they shop local getting fish from South Florida filleting it right in the restaurant cooking it and serving it to you comma you never get a fishy smell or taste. And I forgot to mention the live entertainment was absolutely excellent great voice singing a mix of old-school and pop tunes perfectly went with the unique decor all around the restaurant. I can't express how EXCITED I am about Tin Fish!!! We saw it as hot and new here on Yelp nearby and as a fish obsessed girl we were quick to try. They just had grand opening last week so very new. Okay the food! First of all, it meets all my best requirements: quick, cheap, casual and YUM!!!! they have a ton of fish options. The hush puppies were the yummiest fried pieces of bread I've ever eaten. Served with honey butter and wow just wow. My husband had the kaboom shrimp and said it was 100000x better than Bonefish's. Then i decided to go with their famous fish sandwich plate and it did not disappoint! bread was super soft, their tartar sauce is perfection and the fish was perfectly lightly fried and sooooo soft, flakey and perfect! love that they have crinkle fries - very hard to find around here! I was way too full for dessert but it looked good. The staff is soooo friendly!!! the manager said we could special order any fish we ever want, or crab anything just give him a few days notice. Unfortunately this time around was not a good experience. The whole fish made to order took 1.5 hrs to receive after ordering. The simple smoked fish dip took an hour to be served on a slow Monday night. Arrived at 6:45 pm. Departed almost 3 hours later. The owner / Chef was not on premises and all the staff had was excuses about tickets in the kitchen. They thought comping a drink and a dessert would satisfy us. We were the last to leave and had. No appetite anymore for any dessert. The manager tried to fix the problem with a gift certificate. However the damage was done. It was not worth waiting 1.5 hrs for a baked fish with no sides for $50. I could have went home and cooked it and brought it back. Nothing to rave about at all. Not returning. I was driving by and on my way into Doris, I stopped to get a Togo menu. The host Kirsten told me we were on a wait so I put my name on the list and finished up at Doris. My wife had left her pills at home, so I left her at the table and ran home real fast to get her those. While I was gone, our server, Cassandra, sat with her and spoke to her about all the specials that you all had tonight as well as kept her company while I was gone, she made us feel like family. When I got back she explained it again so that I could hear them... And bam!!! She sold us on our 2.5 lb Red snapper with the Asian sauce!! It was delicious. My wife and I ordered the hush puppies, corn bread, kaboom shrimp to start our meal off. Hush puppies and corn bread were both very good. If you like the dynamite shrimp from bonefish grill you will love the kaboom shrimp from Tin Fish.. For my entree I had the white fish and shrimp platter Amazing!!!!! Tin Fish in Sunrise has decent seafood, but the service doesn't quite match up. The fish is fresh, the portions are fair, and the flavors are solid--no complaints on the food. The service, though, felt a little off. The waitress wasn't all that welcoming and didn't seem to know the menu well, which made ordering more of a hassle than it should've been. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it definitely took away from the experience. If you're in the area and just want good seafood, it's worth a stop. Just don't go in expecting much on the service side. read more

I have always liked Tin Fish. It's casual, pricey and so worth it. The food is always fresh and perfectly prepared. My friend and I split the day's special--Yellow Tail Snapper DEEP FRIED. We ate like vultures, even the skin. Our server, Marcy, opened the fish on each side for us. She gave us a taste of soup to try. My friend loved the soup and I had their delicious Caesar salad. One in our party wasn't a fan. But don't listen to her they were good haha. Our appetizers were good, bao buns, cracked conch, chicken wings. Here is where the stars dropped a little more. They dropped partially for time the drinks took and the bottled water. But we looked through the menu which is not authentic Italian. It's a blend of Italian dishes, Jamaican dishes, Haitian dishes (that's not what dropped the stars) the prices for the items. Some dishes were reasonably priced, others were highly over priced. My wife got Alfredo pasta at $24 and added the lobster. They were generous with the lobster and only charged an extra $20 for it. I got the Rasta pasta $24 and added chicken $6 The Alfredo was fine, the lobster was good. My pasta however was all over the place. The pasta was completely overcooked so it was a little mushy, the peppers and onions were thrown in at the end so they were uncooked. The chicken was a little dried out and the jerk wasn't hot. The sauce did have a good taste, I did eat it all and I didn't not complain about it. It's a dish I would try again but if it came out like that again I'd send it back. Our friends got the scampi pasta and it was good they said. One got lobster and mashed potatoes $65, another got the salmon $42which she woofed down. One issue we had at the table involved the music. When someone is celebrating a birthday the dj jams a birthday song a louder volume, but he does the entire song and then doesn't turn the music back down to a regular level. So people had to ask a few times to turn the music back down so we could all hear ourselves. So here is the overall The restaurant is in a nice spot It's decorated nicely The staff was very pleasant (could use some improvements) Food all had good flavor (but quality control needs to be worked on) Prices are pushing it Would we go again? Yes. Would we recommend it to others? Yes. I wish them a bunch of continued success. One last thing that we didn't like. Our server mentioned to us when he dropped the checks that a service charge was included. I'm used to that, but what got me was he said part of it goes to the restaurant some of it goes to me, so it's not actually a tip and there is an additional tip line if you'd like to add something. Unless it's a banquet, the restaurant should not receive any of the service charge. That should go to the server and the regular tip out to their bartenders and bussers as is normal should be the way it is. The house should not get any part of it.
