I moved out of state and have been craving great Chinese cuisine. while the place looks like a little whole in the wall it had the best Chinese food around . my grandkids grew up eating there and now as adults they still go there when they want something good. This is a small restaurant with a huge menu. Located between Lucky Supermarket and a residential area. Meaning that if you happen to live in this area you could probably walk here. The food is good here, however the dining area is still not open at this time due to Covid and the dining area is not very large inside. They are taking orders at the front door and the usual wait time is around 15-20 minutes for customers who walk up. So call ahead if you can. I do have a couple of observations, The BBQ Pork Fried Rice was a little bland /dry, it also lacked those bits of scrambled eggs that I have grown so accustomed to. We also ordered the House Special Wont Ton Soup, which I totally enjoyed. All the different ingredients danced in my mouth. The only thing I would do different if I were them would be to package the wontons and vegetables inside a separate container. This way their not floating around in the hot broth. Downhill. Ordered chicken egg fu young.. chicken was OLD. Like very OLD. Tasted rotten. Luckily it didn't seep in to the egg fu young. Waste of money. Ordered orange chicken. It was old, too. Chicken tasted like it was treated with something.. inedible. Salt and pepper fish. Sis said that was good. One star for the sweet girl serving and one star for the fish. So disappointed. read more

The BBQ Pork Chow Mein is my favorite here. I Even ordered a large tray for my Birthday. But I went today and made an order for the chow mein and the price went up to almost $10 and the portion of it decreased significantly.. I'll give it another visit next time in case today is just one of those days where they happened to not put the usual portion. If it remains the same portion, it'll be my last visit there. read more

Tin Fu is by far the best Chinese food in the area! I've been going here for years! Probably a decade by now and they just keep getting better. We love their combination dinner specials! It's such a great deal. You get to pick from 3 different options and it is so much food! So worth! I usually pay a little extra and get option B. Everything on the menu is delicious but I especially love their hot and sour soup and the sesame chicken. They also have the best thai tea! I always stop by just for the tea. I wanted to love this restaurant but when I ordered the vegetable soup with noodles to go, I was sorely disappointed. It was mostly noodles with few veggies. When I took the veggies and noodles out of the container there was hardly any broth! I went back to show them pictures of my order and the amount of actual broth in the soup order, they thought it looked fine. It is called SOUP, so to have 2" of broth at the bottom is lame. Come on. Put the noodles in a bag or another container. The next week my housemate ordered the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce to go and he said it was bland with barely any garlic. He reheated it the next day and added lots of garlic and it was better. Not sure if their cooks have changed but we were left sadly unsatisfied. read more

We've ordered delivery many times; the food is always good. Today I dined in the restaurant for the first time. I ordered something unusual (for me) - Scrambled Egg Beef with fried rice. The meal came with soup and an egg roll. The meal reminded me of egg foo young without all the ingredients that mold it into a round, little omelette and without the sauce. This is a good thing. The eggs were fresh and the beef had good flavor. I added multiple dabs of the hot sauce, which added just the right kick. It looked like a ton of food, but in reality it was served over a very large pile of fried rice. Still, it was quite a bit of food and I did not finish the rice. I'll say I'd order it again. The soup had a twang to it. At first off putting, it grew on me quickly and I enjoyed the whole tiny little bowl. The egg roll was nothing special. It was certainly not hand made in the back. What was unique was it had a nice, real butter flavor to it. So rather than being fried in old oil, it tasted as though it had been fried in fresh butter or ghee. Again, nothing special here, but the fresh buttery flavor was a nice surprise. Slow on refills of the room temperature water. Overall a fine lunch. read more

One of my lunch buddies from work kept talking about wanting honey walnut shrimp and I remembered my neighbor telling me this place was her fave place for honey walnut shrimp. On my way home from work I decided to give the place a try, it's not in the best location and is in the same shopping center as Grocery Outlet. Good thing I had called for pick-up cause the dining area was less than glamorous and I had to avoid looking at the carpet. Picked up my food and the first thing I noticed was how heavy it was, got home and it was packed! Got the dinner combo of honey walnut shrimp, fried ribs from the other yelp reviews and chow mein cause I had rice at home (of course). The rib bones were fun to naw on but it's a lot of effort for not a lot of meat. The prawns had a thick batter that was tasty with the sauce and the chow mein was borrring. Next time I'll get the salt & pepper pork chops, prawns and fried rice. Combo came out to $15 and I had enough for two large meals so no complaints there. read more

Tin Fu makes their shrimp more heavily dipped in batter and fried whereas most other places are lightly coat with crunch. Still, it was delicious! Rock cod fish in garlic sauce came with zucchini, carrots, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and snap peas....good flavor, with sweet, salty, crunchy...very tasty but prob best eaten there as the deep-fried fish gets soggy. My family has been coming here for YEARS (literally more than a decade). The staff is friendly; they remember us and all our orders now. Everything is good and has so much flavor. It's not fancy but the food is delicious. You have to pass through the kitchen to use the bathroom and my family is pretty not-picky about cleanliness but we've never seen anything sketchy back there. Everyone even wears hair nets. I'm a bit disappointed in this place. I've ordered from here a few times and the food just isn't up to par. The last time I ordered from here was for a party and I ordered a tray of dried fried ribs. The meat was just extremely breaded and greasy. The other gripe is that I ordered a day before and when we went to pick up the food at the specified time, the order was not ready. That is the worst -- ordering food beforehand and when you arrive, you have to wait for them to cook the food when you get there. That defeats the whole purpose of pre-ordering. Greasy and really gone down hill. It use to be a fire go to spot but the last few times they have been using cheap cuts of meat. I get a bunch of fat in my broccoli beef and it was so sauces and not amazing. The food is just really ok. It's nothing amazing it's not a place where you want to eat then that same week. If you are in the area it's fine it's better then Frannies express but that's not saying much. it's also better then the Asian Wok in the Lucky Center across the way avoid that place. This place is good if your feeding a big family. My family always orders take out here and they never fail. Tin Fu always has good portions with a good price. We only do take out because the actual restaurant is not so updated and a has old carpet. They're always nice over the phone and in person, they'll repeat your order to you so that there's no miscommunication. They also have good lunch specials where it comes wh a small soup, fried rice or noodles and a main dish all on one plate. Nothing too special just your average Chinese food. read more

First time trying this restaurant and they did not disappoint! I got the combination plate (a) with Mongolian beef and it was BOMB.com. PERFECT amount of spice it wasn't over powering it was amazing. Average store front Chinese restaurant but they have three tofu options for lunch. Portions are good and staff was friendly. I had to take a star off for vegetable freshness. This review is going to be solely about the amazing PRAWNS WONTON SOUP! It was a gloomy summer day and I was craving something to warm up my soul. My co-worker and I agreed to that and decided to try the wonton soup at this spot for pick up. Fortunately, for someone who spends cash fast and don't always carry cash on hand - they take card! We took one sip and knew instantly it was the best lunch decision we had made! To my amazement, there was plenty of prawns and soft bok choy! Also plenty of wonton soup to meet my satisfactions. I don't like it when places go stingy on the shrimp but not this place! This prawn wonton soup was SO darn good that my co-worker and I had it for two more days again (even on a day that was WARM)! The pick up order was placed in a plastic baggy and they had also placed a small piece brown cardboard at the bottom as a way of keeping the soup containers stabilized! Nifty indeed. The order ALSO came with napkins, forks and hot sauce (you will want to add this to your soup for spice flavoring). Until I move out of this wonton soup phase and try something else there I will keep this review here on the money - the wonton soup! read more

I'm not sure what the name Tin Fu means, but I like it and I like their food. It could mean something like "We make tasty and affordable food and delivery it really hot." I also like to imagine it's a play on Kung Fu ( translated as skill achieved through intensity) but for food. Or it could mean something else entirely...eek! Either way, this hole in the wall establishment, in a strip mall, has some of the best chow mein I've had. It's really superb, with chewy and thick noodles, sauce, and veggies it's a must-order. Take my word for it; try to return to eating crappy chow mein at other places after trying it here. For this review, I don't have pics of everything but I wanted to upload some pics of the chow mein with chicken, veggie chow mein with special thin noodles, and house spicy garlic chicken I recently had delivered through Yelp. They're all great dishes, lighter than other Chinese restaurants I've had (a good thing). However, the portions at Tin Fu are humongoid-large. Seriously, probably three people could be happy sharing one order of a meat chow mein (and it's only 6.98$). Other stand-out dishes for me are the salt and pepper chicken and beef with ginger. As is mentioned in other reviews, this is a place many Hayward people order from; and for good reason. They're very quick and the food comes hot and wrapped up nicely (they put cardboard betwixt the containers for a nice touch). Not to mention, they're tied in with Eat24 so it's easy to order via Yelp app! I decided to order online and have dinner delivered to the hotel tonight. Using the Yelp EatStreet app is a very convenient means to do this. Looking through the online menu, I knew that I really wanted soup and what caught my eye was something called "West Lake Beef Soup"''...no clue what this could be was answered by Google...TOO few soups are both hearty and quick to make, but West Lake soup is a stunning exception. Named after its area of origin, in Hangzhou, China, it is sometimes called a variation on egg drop soup. This is a bit like calling a cream-enriched lobster bisque a variation on creamy potato soup. In any event, it was superb...very tasty. The con...Perhaps a little less cornstarch, and don't be so heavy handed with the cilantro. I ordered for my main entree, the "Deep Fried Prawns with Salt and Pepper"...it was exactly what I thought it would be, and it was wonderful. Large meaty prawns, with a good mix of onion, chopped cabbage and jalapeno. Pretty darn good...! Although I had ordered enough food, I got weak and also ordered "BBQ Pork Egg Foo Young"...way too much food but on its own merits, was equally tasty. Very yummy.
