Holy Crap! If you want authentic Italian food go here. I was traveling, and staying about two…read moreminutes down the street from their location. I called, place the order, and I can tell it was taken by an Italian gentleman. He called back about 25 minutes later and said he was leaving. About two minutes later I see a FIAT entering the Hotel entrance and an Italian gentleman steps out, hands me my food, while wearing his cooking apron, with flower on him. Holy WOW is all I can say! Hands-down the best tomato sauce I've ever had. I order the egg plant and that was off the chain. If you live in Albany, I'm jealous, I would be here every day. If you're traveling through, I highly recommend it. Love you guys, and I'll be back.

First off I'm not sure what food people in these reviews are eating, because in my experience the Italian mix sub was very bland, the bread was dry, and the meat looked pale and weird. That ambience of the place was nostalgic which is the reason why I gave it 3 stars and not 2. The woman helping me was friendly enough but made it a point to tell me how gas prices were fine at $4.10 per gallon as long as Trump was the president, which annoyed me because it gives an indication that details don't matter here. Given the taste of the $15 small sub I paid for it definitely tracks. Be your own critic, but for me it's the history of this place and not the food has people coming back. I won't be one of them.

I've been wanting to try the vegan sandwich options at Mallos for a long time. We tried both - the…read moreeggplant and the cauliflower Reuben. Both were good. The Reuben was a little too unidimensional for my taste, because the cauliflower is fermented I think there isn't enough contrast with the sauerkraut which is really the only other ingredient. the flavor was great but the texture wasn't my favorite. The eggplant itself was amazing! I loved it. But again I think the composition of the sandwich was a little off for my taste, there was a pile of arugula that overpowered the eggplant which was star but a very small portion of the sandwich. The homemade chips were the best I've ever had and YOU SHOULD TRY!!!! Phenomenally crisp and cooked to perfection. Overall, I don't think I'd come back often because there arent a ton of vegan options and I was enthralled by them but if I was in a group with meat eaters and they wanted sandwiches I would happily tag along and get one of these options again.

I hopped on Yelp, saw the great reviews, took 1 minute to browse the menu, and I turned around and walked right in to Mallo's. The space is pink with black and white checkered floor. I was greeted as I walked in and they were patient while I read the menu (again). Everything sounded great but I went with the veggie sandwich but made into a wrap. They brought my food out to me on a little tray with a paper branded with the same cute dog. I loved the wrap! I'm glad I went the wrap route - it was perfect. Mozzarella, arugula, fried eggplant, olives - yummm. It was so delicious and flavorful and a big portion! I took leftovers back to my hotel and had them the next day. I'm so glad I stopped in to this spot and would definitely come back for more of their tasty food.

We've had the phillys, their peppered turkey is so good and they have a lot of different options. Today's sub was the big T scooped out bread and pepper spread. This fast service hoagie shop serves a good selection of signature cold & hot hoagies on sesame seeded or non-seeded bread, side deli salads, chips, cookies, dirt pudding, and Pepsi products. They also offer a $15.99 Combo (in May 2025) meal deal with a primo size hoagie, chips and drink and sell deli meats & cheeses by the pound. The pricing is moderate and similar to what other sub shop chains in the area charge. This location is cozy which is order at the counter and there is inside seating. After hearing about Primo Hoagies opening up in Albany, I decided to go on the Primo Hoagies app and placed my order for a customized primo size Abruzzi ($13.59 plus tax) with additional free toppings. I drove about 2 miles to Primo Hoagies and my sandwich was ready and bagged when I arrived. The Abruzzi hoagie (12" size) served cold, had plenty of deli sliced roasted pork with provolone cheese, broccoli rabe, oregano, oil, black pepper, adding shredded lettuce, tomatoes, hot banana peppers, red onions, & pickles in a very firm & very chewy sesame seeded hoagie roll. Other than the tough thick bread roll, the sandwich was pretty tasty. I would definitely stop by here again to try out other hoagies like the Chicken Parmigiana, Italian Tuna, and Philly Cheesesteak.
