Saw Tina's shop as I left Dollar Tree. Decided to give the place a try. They were able to take me as a walk in for a mani & pedi. (A plus.) Sanitary/Clean, it is not. They do not clean/sanitize the tools between clients or use clean tools from an enclave on each client. Their nail filing and polish application is not clean. My nails were left jagged and polish around my nail beds and on my fingers. They did wipe my nails with cotton and I believe alcohol. The cotton stuck to my nails because my nails were jagged. The pictures were taken after I filed my nails when I got home, so you are unable to see the jaggedness. Pedicure was done by a different person and seems fine. But again, did not use clean tools. Paid using Zelle and was asked to put "pizza" or "dinner". A bit questionable . I do not recommend, nor will I return. Pictures of mani in different lighting. read more

I have so many mixed emotions about this place. They do a decent job. Kim, who does pedicures is ok but does not know how to manage acrylic when it's put on your toes. The acrylic grows out and so you have to retouch and they did not know how to manage that every time I went. The owner is also not very friendly. She has his nasty attitude, and is only friendly to those that appear to have money. Every time I went even with an appointment I always had to wait up to 30 minutes or more to be attended to. That makes no complete sense because I made an appointment for a reason. I do not recommend this place unless you for sure have to and need your nails done, but otherwise I would hold off and go somewhere else. Customer service is not there. read more

Horrible experience. Brought my wife to get her a mani pedi and they took her in. She calls me to pick her up 20 minutes later to come get her because they dint want to do her mani. So i got my keys and came to get her. She begins asking what my eta is because they keep asking her to leave and they are rushing her. I picked her up with tear in her eyes because the nail ladies were being super rude. I came back to get a refund because no people should ever treat anyone with disrespect. I was coming in initially for a basic, boring grey polish when Kim suggested a grey cat eye ‍ I tend to stay with regular acrylic black nails with an almond shape and this is a fantastic alternative they suggested from my boring simple colored nails I tend to get. Covid 19 alert... Tina's Nails is open for business. On this day Tina was out front doing nails and she had 2 girls on the back patio doing mani/pedis. It was nice to take care of my eagle claws and just slow down and pretend it was 2019. They are very safe, friendly and actually talk to you. I enjoyed my father daughter date and will definitely be back again. My daughtet says they hold up well... she does the gel. I just have them clean up those toes beat up from training. I tried every place in the area - hands down Tina's is the place to go. She does quality excellent work. My gel stays put for WEEKS. Like, I could go 4 weeks if my nails didn't grow out. I've never had the gel stay on my nails so well. And the team is friendly & welcoming, it is bright and airy inside, and just a great community nail salon. I saw a comment on wait time, but I have never had to wait unexpectedly. Tina has always been upfront on wait time if I show up without an appointment, and she is prompt in starting her appointments. I have "waited" while my nails soaked, but I appreciate this. She lets them sit long enough that she can easily and gently remove the gel without over damaging my nail in the process. This is my second time here , manicures/acrylic Tina has done a good job! But today was my first time getting a Pedicure done here , it was ok. $35My toe nails are not filed straight , especially my big toe. However , The lady that did my pedicure was very nice. Walking in I was never greeted by Tina but by one of her employees. When it was time to pay I asked Tina If I could Venmo , it seemed as if she got bothered, n just gave me a "mm" answer . She then said to Zelle better ,I asked for her number & she pointed at her business card. First time trying this place in town. The mani/pedi was just okay not great. They didn't use the top coat properly/evenly so it looks bad and started cracking right away. The other thing that was a turn off is the constant upselling on EVERYTHING. As a new/first time client i would have liked to know that upfront. While visiting my friend from out of town, we wanted to get our nails done and with most places booked or charging prices up the wazoo, my friend recommended her go-to hometown nail salon: Tina's Nails and Spa. This place is an absolute gem - the little shop in the beach town area of El Segundo is clean and full of character. We called ahead and Tina was able to fit all 3 of us in - same day - with no hesitation (though she may have done so because my friend is a regular.) Either way, Tina got us in and out so quickly and able to get what we asked for without any hesitation. After selecting our colors, she probably did all 3 of our nails within 2.5 hours. This includes removing gel polish off of one person, and doing a full routine for each of us which includes shaping, prepping, applying 2 coats of color, curing polish and applying lotion to our hands afterwards. I called on a Saturday afternoon at 4:40 and was told to come in at 5:30 p.m. how is that for service? I live in Playa del Rey so Tina's shop is just a few minutes away off Main Street in El Segundo. They have plenty of parking out front. There is also a parking garage across the street at the 99-Cent Store. Tina's nail Salon is cute and cozy. They have a great selection of gel nail polish and matching nail polish for toes. It's a clean place with a large flat screen tv and jewelry. There was lots to keep me entertained while I was getting my gel manicure. I will definitely be back for my pedicure as well as my gel mani. It took about 1 hr total for the mani. When you Yelp you hope that the surveys are true, unfortunately in this case it was not. I called ahead of time to ask if they do Gel-X and they said yes. I got there early as I wanted pedicure as well. When she wanted to do my nails I noticed she is opening a brand new box for Gel-X but i NEVER would've imagined that this is her first time doing this. She didn't know if the liquid comes out it'll be impossible to remove it. Left me with 4 bleeding nails. My nails were not straight and 2 of the scratches are infected now. I have even waited a long time to write this, as the fresh review when this happened wouldn't have been "safe for work" if you catch my drift. Honestly, I was giving this place a chance. They really had my friend & I sitting in the sun due to new COVID regulations. I was pretty disappointed in my visit to Tina's Nails. I typically am never in the El Segundo area but I knew that I was going to be there the day before for my friend's wedding and I wanted to treat my friend (the bride) to a mani pedi so I found Tina's Nails on Yelp. I called a few days prior and spoke to Tina to make an appointment over the phone for three people. I asked her how much a mani pedi combo was and she told me it was $33. I asked her how much it was for a gel and a spa pedi, and she told me that was $35. I thought that was incredibly low for what I'm normally used to, so I repeated myself to confirm that she was telling me that a gel mani and pedi combo is $35, and she quickly agreed. It didn't turn out to be this much.. read further for an explanation. We showed up five minutes early for our appointment and quickly noticed that there were only three ladies working there, and three other customers already getting their manis/pedis.. It didn't look like they were anywhere near done, so after waiting about 15 minutes, I asked if they'd be able to take us because we were on a time crunch. Tina quickly responded yes and so we waited about another 15 minutes for her to get started on one of us. This was disappointing that I had made an appointment and if she wouldn't have been able to take us on time, she could've told us beforehand so we could've gone to another place. Another thing I noticed was that this spa is very small and cramped inside, and their spa chairs don't even have a tub connected to them. I've never seen this before... A lot of their furniture and decor is very outdated, but I still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. They finally started on my manicure about 30-45 minutes after our arrival, and I asked if the lady was able to do deep french for my nails. She seemed hesitant to which I also felt hesitant and about to change my mind, but Tina quickly answered for her and told her it was easy. Truth: it was not easy for her. I had to keep asking her to fix the lines and my nails before putting my hand into the UV light. At one point I said that I could do just a regular traditional manicure (instead of the deep french design) which Tina quickly answered again for the lady who was working on my nails saying that she could do it.. She didn't do a good job... I would check my nails for a few seconds before putting them into the UV light machine and the lady would impatiently tell me "inside" and motion for me to put my hand inside. I'm sorry but I think this is a pretty rude thing and she could say "please" instead of pushing me to put my hand inside when I'm just trying to check it before the light. Also, she didn't even mention that I would be charged $5 extra for the deep french design service, and I don't think this is good practice for a business to not give their customers a head's up before charging additional fees. I know that this service typically does cost extra but I believe it's absolutely necessary for the nail salon to inform the customer that this would be the case. Even the massage at the end of the manicure was sorry to say the least. She probably spent about a minute massaging each hand and it was done before I could even relax. My manicure ended up costing me $40. When we were ready to pay, it ended up turning out that the the gel mani and pedi combo that I was treating my bride friend to was $60, and when I told her that she had originally told me that it was $35, she began to argue with me. I didn't want to argue back too much because we clearly misunderstood each other even though I tried to confirm it, and there really was no point in arguing. I paid, even tipped a generous 20%, and left. I will never be returning to this nail salon again. read more
