I came here for a date the first time I visited. The ambiance feels very upscale and the lighting was quite romantic. Service was good. The waitress picked up on the fact it was a first date and cracked a few jokes and made recommendations to break the ice. (Helpful for an introverted person like myself) We wound up ordering their burger... oh my lord.... It was and continues to be the best burger I've ever had. I would definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand. The burrata was a spring time one which had cantaloupe in it. At first I thought it was kind of strange but then once I tried it, it was delicious and fit in well with the dish. Burger and fries were awesome. Big portion and had to take some to-go.But my favorite of the night was of course the dessert. Skillet cookie topped with ice cream and chocolate! YUM! Garden outside is absolutely beautiful. Initial wait was about 45 minutes, which was actually fine. After that time, they put me in a table in the back of the walkway. It wasn't horrible, but I was looking for something with a bit more ambiance. I asked if I could wait for a table in a different area and the hostess asked if I minded waiting. I didn't really, so I sat back in the waiting area. She came back after talking with the manager and told me since I'm a single instead of a bigger party I would have to go back to the end of the waiting list and wait another hour. The fact that they brought up that I was an individual versus a larger group shows that they really wanted to stick me in the back and not treat me like other guests. It came with melon, prosciutto, pistachios, and balsamic glaze. Only note would be is to have liked it to come with one more piece of bread to soak everything up. I had the mother's breakfast. Your classic American breakfast with your option of bacon or sausage and eggs your way. The white cheddar grits had some jalapeño in it that gave it a subtle kick, not overpowering. Did I need to eat both biscuits, no, but did I, yes. The butter and jam were a must on the biscuits. My friend enjoyed her bagel and lox, but didn't ask for a bite this time. Not what I expected. When I heard that our friend was taking us to a restaurant called Tiny Boxwoods, my first thought was that this place must be a small hidden gem in Houston. I was mistaken because Tiny Boxwoods is actually quite large with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The restaurant was bustling with activity, and we waited about an hour in line before it was our large group's turn to order and find a table. When you are with good friends, though, the time flies by quickly cause of all the conversation and laughter. We found a table outside which was able to accommodate all of us. Unfortunately, it was not shaded. Fortunately, the weather was not too hot that day. If it had been a hot summer day, then it would have been very uncomfortable to sit where we were at because there were no fans or other cooling devices to cool folks off. Our food came out in good time. Service was efficient and professional. Wifey and I shared the following: Tiny's Summer Salad was her pick. It was kind of pricey so I figured the portion size would be large, but it was smaller than I thought. It did taste good. Salad came with grilled chicken, mixed greens, candied pecans, blue cheese, apples, pears, and apple cider vinaigrette. Lucky Burger with Sweet Potato Fries was my choice. Burger looked mouthwatering, and it tasted yummy too. The patty is ground in-house. The bun is house made. I was a fan of the burger. Wish there had been more sweet potato fries included with the meal. Lemonade was refreshing. Chocolate Chip Cookie was delicious. Make sure to purchase this when you are here. Had the opportunity to have brunch with family before continuing our drive to Galveston and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We only had the option to dine outdoors. Set-up has you wait in line to place your order at the counter, they then will find you a table based on your group size. This might be different if you have a reservation ahead of time but we were walk-ins. For those of us who love a cocktail moment with our brunches, let me assure you their drinks are phenomenal. Every drink at the table was refreshing and very well done. Their lemonade was also a hit at the table. So much so we actually got a round of them to go lol. Our table started off with two charcuterie boards which had a beautiful presentation. The flatbread was such a great choice for the spread and I loved the use of dried figs. Now what makes the charcuterie boards beyond a five star experience is pairing it with their burrata. Not only was it light and refreshing but being paired with cantaloupe topped with balsamic and prosciutto. My entree itself was their signature burger and it really did hit the spot. I recommend getting their sweet potato fries! The grounds are also home to a nursery, apothecary store, and a boutique so make sure to walk around. This happened to us on a hot summer weekend day. If outside seating is expected, they really should have more fans outside. There is just one giant fan outside that isn't strong enough for the entire area. They can do better. The parking situation is not great, but you can park at Tiny's Milk and Cookies or St Luke's church if the parking lot is full, and there is a golf cart shuttle service on the weekends that will drop you off at the restaurant. I wish there were more vegetarian options and it was less pricey. For brunch I only saw the beet burger as an option. They do add pizzas on for dinner. While the beet burger was good, I don't think it was worth $18. It does come with a hefty side of fries (if that is the option you go for). read more

Below is basically my review for Tiny's No. 5 in West U, but Tiny Boxwoods is almost the same as Tiny's No. 5--my feelings about the two restaurants are almost the same! Tiny Boxwoods is hands-down one of my favorite brunch spots in Houston. After countless visits, I can attest that it is a very good, though note it's pricey. It is a darling restaurant, and the food is just delicious--from breakfast entrees to pastries, they have it down. The restaurant us upscale and really cute--I felt like I was at a garden party. For brunch, my go-to entree is the mother's breakfast, which comes with eggs, mini biscuits, and bacon with jam. I've tried almost all of the pastries, and they're all amazing--the cinnamon rolls are delightful, and you MUST order a chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate chip cookies are seriously some of the best cookies in town. If you just want to grab a coffee and a pastry and don't want to sit down, you can grab them at the window at Tiny's Milk & Cookies just a couple of blocks away. Like I said above, the restaurant is pricey, to the point that they don't put prices on the chalkboard menu at brunch. But...it's still my favorite brunch spot. read more

The line was pretty long but the weather was so nice we decided to wait. We were also able to order drinks while waiting in line. The line just seems to move faster when you have cocktail in hand LOL. You stand in line to order and are given a number which you take to a table of your choosing and they bring the food out to you. I ordered the turkey avocado club sandwich with fries. The sandwich was pretty good and HUGE so I ended up taking some of it home. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food but we did find it overpriced for the quality. The best part of this experience was the Paloma Fresca. One of the most delicious cocktails I've ever had! This is a clean, classy, trendy restaurant with the best vibes. I have wanted to try their brunch after I was impressed by Tiny's Milk & Cookies. First of all, the outdoor seating area is so tranquil. The seats are out of the sun and many tables are close to plenty of greenery. Additionally, the restaurant is well-lit, tastefully decorated, and the furniture is high quality. No wobbly tables here! The staff are polite and well-dressed. I ordered the avocado toast on organic sourdough, topped with fried egg, cold-smoked salmon, sun-dried tomatoes, lime, salt, red pepper, and honey. Plating overall was excellent but not perfect (they could have cleaned up some of the edges a little bit). The plate was also a bit too large for the toast. Additionally it was a bit difficult to cut into the toast with the knife given. On a better note, the toast was thick and not soggy. There was a generous portion of avocado and salmon. Egg was cooked perfectly. However, I think there was too much salmon. Don't get me wrong - the salmon was good. But it should not be overpowering or distract from the essence of the dish. I'm also not sure if the sourness from sun-dried tomatoes goes well with avocado toast. I also ordered a croissant with house made jam. The jam was absolutely wonderful. The croissant was also good. Overall, this was a nice place to try but definitely on the pricey side. I'll definitely keep going to their Milk & Cookies locations, but can see myself stopping by Tiny Boxwoods infrequently. They have some interesting desserts that I may want to try (goat cheesecake?!). read more

It is a very nice place inside and out nice to try out the food is great and fresh pricing is a lil more than other places but nothing to crazy, what you see in pictures was about $80. Pretty popular brunch spot with the local patrons in the area. There are definitely people who dress up but you can wear casual, but neat clothes and it'll be fine. Order at the front as soon as you walk in, then find a spot indoors or out (depending on weather) to wait for the food to be brought to you. Menu options are slightly limited, in my opinion. The pot of tea was already sweetened with stevia, which was another minus since I don't like additives to my tea at all. Food on the other hand was quite nice! The sausage was on the sweeter side (maybe maple?) and had bits of sage and other herbs which tasted nice. Did not taste the white cheddar in my grits however, I liked that it was less salted to contrast with my fluffy eggs and sausage. Biscuit and jam were also wonderful! I had a bite and didn't think it was very noteworthy or different. I think their tomatillo salsa could add more of a kick and could be more generous about the amount they add on. Portion sizes of dishes was spot on, or slightly on the plentiful side - which was nice. Prices are what you'd expect for this trendy and popular spot. We roamed the gardenside since I wanted to find orchids *not a very popular plant in late March/early April. They do have a wide variety of green and blooming plants that look very healthy and lush but price points are higher. D told me some folks book the entire venue for wedding receptions, which I could imagine would be just gorgeous and perfect for a smaller event! I use to love this place years ago. So I try to give it a chance again. Still super busy and hard to find parking cause it's tiny. There is a golf cart that makes rounds to take you to your car. Before it was a line to order and you seat yourself. Now there is a host stand. Told me it's 45 mins wait. And 2 table ahead of me. There are 4 tables empty after 30 mins. Yet we were not seated and others were. I was annoyed. We were later seated soon inside. The menu didn't state what is not served during what time. So disappointed in the limited selections. The sweet potato fries are make like waffle fries. I prefer the regular French fries style. Crab cakes are small but it is more crab than filling. Definitely not worth 45 mins to an hour wait.
