I had just flown in to Oakland Airport and was craving some Filipino comfort food after a long day of travel. I would've loved to rate this place higher on the scale unfortunately their ordering system needs some work and resulted in me waiting at the pick up location for 30 mins after the Yelp app said my order was ready for pick up. Not to mention, during this 30 minute window, I kept trying to call the number listed for Tipunan and it went straight to voicemail each time, and I kept trying to "notify" someone via the iPad in the lobby of the pick up area so that hopefully someone could come and I could talk to them about my order, but no one from Tipunan ever came, which resulted in me walking away unfulfilled, unsatisfied and empty handed. Although the sign on the counter says not to whistle or catcall, and that "our team is committed to serving you", the sign is a lie. No one will come.

Lumpia way too small, $1 what
    Tadatomo N.

The food portions are very small. Complete ripoff. Needs to be twice as thick and twice as long. What you see in the pictures is $1 for one, 50$ for those two boxes. Also got the rice plates, 20$ each. Not enough to be full on one. Taste is good but not good enough to justify the price. Better to just go to seafood City and get the same amount for half the price.

I was craving for some Filipino food and we decided to try out Tipunan. I am ngl I chose this spot because I was extremely intrigued by the longanisa bun on their menu. We ordered takeout from Tipunan via DoorDash and the food came fairly quickly. We ordered: - Crispy fried pork belly/Lechon Kawali; 5/5 it was really good and it came with quite a lot. Not too fatty or oily and it was very crispy. - Tocino Chicken; 4.5/5 really enjoyed the flavor however it was a little too oily for me. - Shanghai Lumpia; 5/5 very delicious, crispy and great portion! Appreciate that they included some sauce with it. - Chicken Siopao; 5/5 exceeded my expectations. The bun size was much bigger than I thought it was going to be. I was worried about the ratio being more bun than filling but was pleasantly surprised at how much chicken filling they put in. The chicken filling was very flavorful and saucy, which went well with the bun. - Longanisa Bun; 5/5 was amazing and surprised I hadn't seen or had this before! It was a delicious and really great handheld snack. Was a dish I never knew I needed, highly recommend! Will definitely be trying this spot again! If you're looking for Filipino food, I highly recommend Tipunan - you have to try the longanisa bun!

Tipunan offered me a refund for my salty chicken dish, and today I received it. I actually like your food, but the one particular dish was way too salty for my diet. So I will order from your ghost chicken again, just not that dish. Happy Thanksgiving, and Support Local Business!

So they continue to impress me omg! If you want crispy pork, this place makes crispy pork. I have no idea what other companies are doing but this is the bar for crispy pork. OMG and the vinegar sauce is amazing. Everything was amazing. The lumpia was good. I look forward to eating here when I come into town. I will always eat here at least once. The trip wouldn't be complete otherwise. I was upset I couldn't get a spaghetti to go on the plane because of my time constraints. Lol. Ugh! So good! And I know they didn't make the brownie, but it was good too lol #Perfection

    Lumpia Shanghai (Pork) - Tasty!

The tocino is litty!!! Juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious!!! The lumpia is hittin' too. Tipunan is just an all around wonderful spot for some cheap and tasty Filipino eats. I made an attempt last year to try this spot, but I didn't know that you could only order ahead/online at the time and they were swamped with orders. This time around, I ordered from them through Doordash and both my employee and I loved our silogs. It was another instance of being stuck in the office due to short staffing, so a Doordash lunch was in order that day. I had been meaning to try Tipunan for a while and I got excited when I saw that they were a Doordash option. I convinced my employee who had never had Filipino food before to try it. I love that Tipunan serves breakfast all day because silogs are one of my favorite Filipino food dishes. I also love anything pork related when it comes to Filipino food, so I knew I was gonna have either the longanisa or the tocino. We both ended up getting tocilogs and lumpia Shanghai. Everything was packaged well and we had no issues with the Doordash delivery. The tocino was sooo scrumptious! It arrived warm and glistening and was also very tender. The sweetness of tocino is my favorite, and the flavors were so on point here. The lumpia was also very tasty. I appreciated that they left one side of the container open to vent so that they'd stay crispy and wouldn't get soggy from that steam. The silog came with fluffy garlic rice and perfectly cooked over easy eggs. I added tomatoes and vinegar to mine but they did cost extra. It wasn't too much more in cost, but usually tomatoes are automatically included with silogs (in my experience), so I found it odd that there was an extra charge for this and the vinegar. Nevertheless, the meal was delicious and the portions were filling. For the price, this is honestly a really great deal. My employee loved the tocilog too, and this was her first time ever having any kind of Filipino food.

You can order either by scanning the QR code or through a traditional paper menu, which was convenient. The xiao long bao seemed to be one of their most popular dishes, so we ordered a basket and really enjoyed it. Each table is already stocked with soy sauce and black vinegar so you can mix your own dipping sauce. My only wish is that they offered fresh ginger slices to complete the traditional xiao long bao experience. The beef pancake roll had a subtle mala flavor that added a nice kick without being overly spicy or numbing. The pancake itself was delicious--I loved both the taste and the texture. It is a bit oily though, so be prepared to use your chopsticks carefully or wash your hands afterward. The beef dumplings were probably the only item I wouldn't order again. They tasted pretty similar to the frozen dumplings you can find at most Asian grocery stores, so they didn't really stand out. Overall, it's a decent spot with friendly service and some tasty dishes. I just wish the prices were a little more reasonable. Our bill came to almost $40 for items that I personally think of as more snack- or appetizer-sized portions.

Whenever I'm in search of something good to eat in the Bay Area I always check TikTok first. My search directed me to Southside Station! It's a small quaint establishment with a very quiet vibe. When I entered, there was a table of three gentlemen sitting there enjoying their selections. I checked in with them and got suggestions on what I should order. They made a recommendation, but I chose something totally different. I ordered the wings and garlic noodles with a side of brussels sprouts. This place is known for their fried chicken because it's so extra crunchy. They definitely did deliver on the crunch and the flavor. The garlic noodles were very garlic, which is what I liked, and the brussels sprouts were sautéed in a honey glaze. I decided to enjoy my food inside the restaurant as opposed to sitting outside where they have two tables set up. The young lady that took my order was ever so sweet and kind. She was the only one I saw in the restaurant behind the counter, but there may have been others working further in the back. There was an error on my order and she was quick to correct the error with an apology and a smile. The portion size was decent. I ended up taking home leftovers.

But this place completely changed that for me. Their mac and cheese comes out hot, steamy, and loaded with flavor, comfort food turned into something way more exciting. What really stands out is how creative the combinations are; it's not just cheese and pasta, it's layers of texture and bold flavor that keep me coming back. The buffalo chicken mac is a standout. It arrives with this crispy, golden breadcrumb topping that adds the perfect crunch. Pro tip, if you're getting it for takeout or delivery, the steam softens the topping in the container, so you miss out on that contrast. It's definitely best enjoyed fresh, in person, when that crunch is at its peak. Then there's the elote mac, which brings a totally different vibe. The bits of corn add little pops of sweetness throughout, and the slices of lemon on top are a game changer. A quick squeeze cuts through the richness of the cheese and oil, balancing everything out in a really satisfying way. I'm lactose intolerant, and that should be a dealbreaker here, but this is one of those rare exceptions where I'm willing to deal with the consequences.

While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I'm not going to lie, I been checking the site waiting for them to bring it back lol. Soon as I saw it, I had to order through DoorDash, and it did NOT disappoint. This plate is a whole feast for real. You get 3 party wings, 3 pieces of fish, 2 pork chops, plus green beans and mac & cheese. Everything came hot, fresh, and smelling good as soon as I opened it. The fish was crispy and seasoned right, not greasy at all. The wings were juicy and full of flavor, and them pork chops? Tender, seasoned all the way through, and cooked just right. Now the sides? Just as fire. The green beans had flavor, not bland like some places be doing, and that mac & cheese was creamy, cheesy, and hitting for real. You can tell they put love into this food. Portions is solid too. They not being stingy at all. Definitely worth the money. I'm glad they brought this back because yeah... I'm running this order back again real soon.

My favorites were the fried fish, greens, and red beans and rice. Everything was fried to perfection. I also had the Skittles cocktail and it was very good. We went when they opened for the day so the restaurant was quiet. Service was fast and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. *Side note - The women's bathroom was spotless.

I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth. The price of their sandwiches is in the $20 range, but the quality and portion make it totally worth it.

No one came and instead quickly several more tables cleared out. Rather than see a few minutes of the England-Serbia World Cup match, I saw a bunch of people up close paying lunch bills. Don't come in solo expecting a side table.
