Got a flat tire and limped it to this location- was told they could not help, and told to go to Discount tire down the road. If a Tires Plus is recommending i use a different establishment for my tire repair, I don't think that says much for the quality of service of tires plus! Adding insult to injury, the employees were visibly snickering at us trying to patch and fill the tire in their parking lot enough to get it to discount tire. Very discouraging. read more

This isn't my regular mechanic, but was the closest place. Gil, The man who helped us hooked us up so much! Most importantly, the brakes are 100% successfully fixed. As a devoted Yelp-er, I feel a responsibility to write fair and honest reviews. I'm hesitant to write anything too terrible, because I don't want to be the cause of a small business owner tanking. However, when a business blatantly rips off customers, and makes a point of taking advantage of trusting senior citizens, I am going to call them out. Based on the other reviews of this establishment, this is a pattern of behavior that needs to stop. A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law called me in tears. She took her 12 year old Buick to Tires Plus for an oil change. After the service was complete, she was told that the car needed "a LOT of work". She was presented with a laundry list of items that needed "immediate attention" but not an estimate. When she asked for that, she was told dismissively, "I don't have that yet, but it's going to be over $2,000. Your car isn't even worth that much." Then, THEN, they tried to sell her on an alignment that was specially priced for $79.99, even though she was driving a "worthless" car that "shouldn't be driven." What. The. Hell. I called my mechanic (who I reviewed on Yelp a year ago) and he looked at my mother in law's car the next day. There was nothing wrong other than a $20 fix for something that he refused payment for. My mother in law admitted that she's agreed to several other unneccessary and/or unreasonably priced repairs at this location in the past year, including a front end brake job that was $1,000. Even a dealership wouldn't gouge you that much. I'm not familiar with the heirarchy of these stores. I don't know if this is corporate owned or a franchise, but this is an outrage. I've been coming here for much too long. Mainly out of connivance. I think I'll be looking elsewhere from now on. By now I've bought 4 sets of tires for multiple cars from them and I know they're tricks to get you to part with your money. I've learned the hard way. This latest stunt was a little too much though. I made an appointment online to get new tires at a quote I received from their website. Also they had a nice promotional deal of 59 minutes completion or they give you $59 and an oil change. Sounds like a good deal. Well I get there at my appointed time. They had trouble finding the appointment. After about 15 minutes they found it and then went out to look at my tires. Yep they needed replacement, as I knew. Then came the quote from them. It was $50 more then I was quoted on the website. Luckily I had a backup plan and had obtained quotes from other places as well. I was prepared to walk out. Then they said they would crunch some numbers. Why they were trying to get me different tires then what I wanted from their website was a mystery to me. They eventually came down to a reasonable price based off my initial quote. They said they would have it done in 2 hours. I told them about the promotion on the website. Their rebuttal was that they weren't a corporate store and wouldn't honor the website. They did say they'd try to meet that time line, which they did. The moral of the story kids is don't come here if you're relying on the website. And if you are, still expect to pay more or go somewhere else. read more

Personally, I do all my own work, but there were times in the past when I didn't, and this tires plus in particular screwed me over. Not only have the left the oil cap off after a simple oil change, but they also destroyed my air filter after I had just replaced it a few days before. I have many of stories from friends of horror stories of tires pluses from all across the twin cities. You're better off sticking with a drunken monkey with a stick... or maybe just you're local mom and pop shop. read more

I went in for my four tires to be changed and a wheel alignment. When my tires were taken off, I was informed that the front struts were weak and it would cost a little over $1,300 to fix. I told them no I didn't want it fix and since the car can't be aligned, my old tires should be placed back on. They insisted that I had to pay for the new tires because that's why I had gone in. A cop was called on me. The manager at Tire Plus on Silver Lake Road, MN was rude and racist. If you want to be insulted, experience price infliction and have the cops called on you, then that's the place to go. Never again will I take my business to that store. I went here to get new tires in September. I pre-ordered the tires I wanted online and set up my appointment. The day of the appointment, I received four phone calls from them when my car was there. First call was advising me that I needed a new tire pressure censor. It was not out, but I was advised it was close. I agreed. Second call was to ask if I wanted an alignment because I needed one. Fine, but why couldn't you have just asked before. Who doesn't need an alignment? Third call was telling me my car was ready. Fourth call, 10 minutes later, telling me my car was ready again. I have never dropped off my car and gotten four phone calls in the two hour time-span. If I would have known that I was needed so frequently, I would have stayed there and waited for my car. After the alignment and the censor, my total was about 200 over what I was used to paying and what I was quoted for. Okay I get it, shit happens. Fine, good riddens to this mildly irritating experience. That night, my 'TPMS' light came on in my car. This means that there is an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system, aka the new censor they had put in. I called the next day and was able to get my car back in on a Tuesday. I went in and decided to stay and wait for my car because of my previous experience with their phone calls. This was a huge mistake. The associate working wouldn't listen to my problem, and I assume just thought I wanted the light off. Okay fine, so I go sit and wait. And wait and wait and wait..... The waiting room smelled so badly of stale disinfectant (think porta potty 'air freshener') that it gave me a headache (I usually have a high tolerance for smells, and don't easily get headaches). The unisex bathroom's lock was broken so I was not comfortable using it. So I sat there.... waiting. Finally I look over and my car is pulled in front of the building. FINALLY this is done. But no one comes to get me, so I wait patiently. Finally I go to the counter and am not helped for at least 10 minutes. Finally when I am helped, the associate gives me no detail whatsoever and hands over the keys, telling me the light is off. I try to ask what is wrong and he tells me they couldn't find any issue. Okay you guys officially suck.. I leave. Next day, the lovely 'TPMS' light is back on. I make another appointment via phone. When the associate asks whats wrong, I try to give him a quick summary of the issue and he cuts me off. Fine, I will tell the person when I drop it off. Finally someone listens to me! While my car was there I only received one phone call too, how nice is that. When I went to pick it up, the associate tells me that its not the censor, but my car is just "weird" and its the TPMS system. I find that interesting since I have had this car for years without any issue. The associate tells me that they reset the system, but if I have any future issues I should take my car to a Honda dealer. Why wasn't this said the first time I had to go back for this issue? Are they pulling my leg and sick of me trying to get them to fix a problem that they caused? I don't know. I do know that I will never come back to this place ever again. You are better off going to some place that quotes higher, because your total is going to end up being way higher than your quote anyway. My time is way more valuable than to have to go back to this hell hole. I don't think these people have any respect for women, or any remorse for when they have caused any issue or inconvenience. It was not wrong for me to simply ask for a diagnosis of an issue directly caused by their work. Never, ever go here. read more

I was charged for a diagnostic and replacement of a starter. I asked for the diagnostic printout showing proof, and was told that the printer to print the diagnostic was not working for the last 6 months. (However, I spoke to a few other mechanics, and they too say there is no printout to show customers, so I guess they may have been ok with that part) I brought it to them because they are the only one by me that is open on Sundays, and thought I would be able to get my car back, or at the very least, they could of found out what was wrong and order parts on Monday morning after giving me a quote. But I didn't get it back until 6:30pm on Monday. They told me the diagnostics would only take 1 hour, and they had my car the full Sunday work hours without calling me. I had to do the calling. Bought a Groupon for oil change, tire rotation and alignment check. They wouldn't take an appointment, so I showed up as instructed. My tires were new, less than 2000 miles, so wanted to skip the rotation. I did want the alignment and oil change, but was told it would be 1-1/2 hours. Now I am skipping the alignment. It took 1-3/4 hours for an oil change because they didn't have the wrench for the oil filter and had to get one from a store. My Saturn is 8 years old, am I the first to come in for an oil change? While I was stuck in the cold waiting room as they were picking up tools, they could have 1) told me of the situation and 2) done the alignment as I was waiting or 3) extended the Groupon for another time. I feel they failed on the customer service part of their business. There is a times plus much closer to my house. I will use them rather than put up with that treatment. read more

Not knowing much about good/bad tires, they gave me all the specs on tires that would be a good fit for my vehicle. After doing my own research on the tires I chose I think i got a pretty good deal. They gave me a next day appointment and finished an hour earlier than they said they would take. Great and fast customer service. He helped me select the proper battery for my car, and was both friendly and professional. While I was waiting for the new battery install, I watched as he was able to greet and handle multiple customers and phone calls in the proper order. On Sunday, I went to this location and got two new tires installed. When I drove away, the tire light on my dashboard was flashing, but it was late and I was hoping it would resolve itself. I had several appointments the following day, and when it didn't resolve itself, I went back to the store. I was patted on the head and was told to wait until Wednesday, and if the light didn't go out, come back. Wednesday came and the light was still on, so I went back to the store. Not only did I get patted on the head, but they argued with me about it. They wanted to keep the car for an hour to check some things out, but nothing they mentioned doing included re-setting the valves. I just ended up telling them to go to hell and left. I then went to the store in Fridley, and no sooner than I told the manager that I had new tires, the first thing he said was that they probably didn't re-set the valves, but he would have someone check that out. The mechanic ran the diagnostic test and found the valves were fine - they just had never been re-set, and he did what should have been done in the first place. 10 minutes later, he was done the light was out and I was on my way. Three times, the store in St. Anthony screwed with me. I will never give them a chance to do it again. read more

This store is filled with either unqualified mechanics or thieves. I took my SUV for an oil change about 2 months ago. They advised me that my SUV engine needed to be degreased and dye and was charged $69. I took it there 3 days later, they performed what they say was wrong. When I took out the vehicle from their workshop, alas! the vehicle found it difficult to move. The next day I returned there, this time I was given a list of what and what to be changed totaling $2500.00 and that my battery is very weak with only 35%. I took the vehicle to another workshop where I was told that some things had been tampered with recently. They pulled my $20 apiece short chrome valve stems and caps, put long plastic ones in place. Think they would have replaced them with the same thing. Did things the low rent trailer park way. I brought in a new aluminum wheel to be installed on my car, as I purchased a new wheel elsewhere. I waited at the counter almost 10 minutes, as the three salesmen were very busy. I finally had my turn. I was told it would be about $20 and I would have to wait 2 hours. I scheduled an appointment and came back the next day. On my return they finished the work in about an hour and it was done correctly. They charged me for a flat tire repair and $5 for a TPMS reseal kit. The total price was $40.22. Avoid this place! I received a coupon in the mail for a $19.99 oil change. I called them to see if I could get in that day, ended up scheduling an appointment for the next day at 5:30 PM as they were all booked. After work I show up 5 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. I walk up to the front desk and the older gentleman does not acknowledge me at all. I stand there for several minutes and he just continued looking in his computer completely ignoring me. Another young gentleman comes out, I told him I was there for my 5:30 appointment. He takes my keys and said it they will be pulling my car into the garage in about 10 minutes. I agreed and took a seat. Times goes by and I notice my car is still sitting in the spot I parked it in. Finally 40 minutes later at 6:10 PM I walked back up to the front desk and told them to give me my keys as I was taking my business elsewhere. I made an appointment to have a noise by my muffler checked. They were prompt in checking me in and took down all my requests. I was called within 40 minutes with the diagnosis and cost estimate for approval to go ahead. They also had checked my oil and tires and found a long nail in one of my tires. My husband had purchased tire insurance, so the tire was replaced like for like at no cost. A tire to match was brought to their location and put on. Everything was complete in less than 90 minutes. I'm perplexed by the poor reviews. We come here, regularly, for our routine checks and for tires for our two vehicles. This last time was an emergency as all of the dash-lights on our Prius went on. I was suspicious that it was because we let our oil change lapse. Gill and Andre did not berate me for the lapse and offered amazing customer service. While they couldn't fix the issue that prompted the lights to come on (a problem with the hybrid battery which very few people know how to fix), they helped us with the stuff that needed to happen anyway and were really professional, timely, and courteous. I would highly recommend you use them for tires and routine maintenance. I cannot speak to the other mechanical services, but I can imagine it's just as great. read more

Today I went to the Tires Plus on Silver Lake Road in St. Anthony, MN for a new set of tires. I called ahead and made an appointment for 5:30pm to avoid waiting for an opening. I arrived there at 5:15pm to check in; gave them my keys and began to wait. Nobody touched my truck to bring it in the garage until 7pm. It wasn't complete until close to 8:30pm. I also noticed people who arrived well after me were leaving before me. Tell me, what is the point of taking reservations if I'm still waiting an hour and a half just for service? I understand it may have been busy with all the people coming in after me; however, that is the exact reason why I made the reservation. To avoid waiting and ensuring there will be an opening for immediate service. It also says online, "59 minutes or less!" After it took an hour and a half just for them to look at my vehicle and another to work on, totaling 3 hours, I asked about it. The seemingly incompetent employee told me the promotion isn't honored in the winter. Why? Do you not have the same employees? Do they not work in the same indoor garage, with the same tools, same lifts as they do in the summer? My experience was asinine. I will never patron another Tires Plus, nor recommend their services to another. read more

Fairly good deals with much to do while you wait. That is what this Tires Plus offers. Especially if you go to the Cub Foods across the street and shop you can get a coupon to get an oil change for 14.99 instead of 29.99 or higher at other places.They do have one of those small waiting rooms like every where else , but there is much to do just across the street . You can get something to eat or go grocery shopping while you wait. Not like most other places that the only thing that you can do is sit in there puny little waiting room. But watch out for the extra charges some of the mechanics don't know what they are talking about. Make sure that they show you what is wrong with your car do not just take there word for it. I have had them tell me one time that I was leaking transmission fluid when I knew that I was not leaking anything. The next time I went in there I was not leaking anything but my lower ball joint was bad. Something that the other tech had not seen. But the older more experienced tech did find. That was the only thing that he found to. They have never broken anything on my vehicle and tryed to tell me that it was that way when I came in either. I took My minivan to Tires Plus in St Anthony MN. I had all rotors and brake pads replaced and paid almost $1,000. My ABS light kept going off and the brakes still felt strange. The ABS light had never gone off prior to this. I had my vehicle in repeatedly. It was taken for test drives and mechanics said there was nothing wrong with it. I had to bring it in when the light was on. The first time I was told it was a left wheel sensor. It was replaced and I was required to pay the labor. The ABS light went off the next day and then I had to bring it in again and was told it was the wiring harness. Keep in mind I wait for hours and 2 times they were not able to work on it since they were backed up or someone called in sick. I made appointments most of the time. The wiring harness was replaced and the sensor removed. I had advised in advance that I was not going to pay for this. I was presented with a bill for over $100. I was told I had to wait until the manager came back. I told the manager I would pay but in protest and everyone would know how much time I had spent there and how incompetent they were. I did not pay. Immediately I noticed a ticking sound. I was afraid to bring back to Tires Plus. The noise was constant but not loud and the car seemed to handle well. Best part was the ABS light never came on again. Approximately 2 months later I took my car to another shop to have snow tires put on. Apparently the mechanic at Tires Plus forgot to put an axle nut back on. The new shop told me this was a serious hazard and could not believe I had been driving it. I called Tires Plus and of course, as before , they told me the work they performed could not have caused the damage or loss of the axle nut. I have ONLY taken my car to Tires Plus except for this last time. Not surprisingly, the ticking noise is gone now that I have an axle nut. The manager has not called me back yet. I can only wonder what the mechanic thought as he found an extra axle nut. Did he care that a person was driving this vehicle and was in danger? Or did he think 'I may lose my job and no one will believe the customer anyway' and throw the nut in the trash? read more

We had a appointment for a oil change at 6:00pm and decided to leave the car. Good thing because we called at their closing time and they said it wasn't done yet - we called again at 9:00pm and it wasn't done - we called at 10:00pm and they said they were just finishing up. When we asked why it took so long they said because several other jobs came in. Really... we had an appointment at 6:00pm. They gave us a free oil change because I complained. When we took our other vehicle in for the oil change they said we need new tires. We said not at this time and they weren't happy with us. The next morning the front tire was almost flat. We took it back to Tires Plus and they said it had a 'cut or a slit' on it. Well, no on else was around that tire except Tires Plus - it went from their garage to our garage. I know that someone in their store did something to our tire while it was in their shop. And we don't need new tires because we only have 40,000 miles on a 80,000 tire.
