3.5 stars. I came here for a workday lunch around 12:45. Not many people. The young lady behind the cashier was nice and polite. I ordered the 3 piece spicy chicken meal with an upgrade of medium milk tea. It is in the Kung fu tea cafe. Total to $18. The wait was a bit long but you can tell the fried chicken was made to order so that's normal. Flavor was good, juicy and tender. I love dark meat so 2 drumsticks and a thigh. Only complaint is that the size of these were pretty small. The milk tea was standard and the curly fries were solid. May come back but not a go to place. read more

This chicken is so good. We got the spicy wings last night and they did not disappoint. They were the right amount of spice, and the sauces were on point. Their curly fries, and mashed potatoes are decent. Not crazy about the biscuit but those are hit and miss. The wait is a little long but that's because they make it fresh so we don't complain. This is a combination Kung Fu Tea x TKK Fried Chicken so you can also order from a large assortment of different milk tea/slush choices - from that department, I got a white grape ice tea punch (a seasonal offering). I got the 2 piece fried chicken combo with sides of charred corn and shishito peppers. Kung fu tea closed for a few weeks for renovations. They reopened now to include TKK fried chicken as a part of the shop. So they're really the same restaurant. When I first saw this place on Yelp, based on the other reviews, I thought TKK would serve Taiwanese style chicken snacks since Kung Fu Tea is Asian. However, after seeing the menu, it appears to be southern chicken? They have the usual southern style chicken, biscuit, and sides. Inside the new shop, there's a new counter and menu. The new counter had flashy colors and the menu is just the old KFT drinks menu crammed into two screens plus the TKK food menu on the other two screens. There is a new fancy Coca Cola machine in the middle if you don't want KFT drinks with your southern fried chicken. For food they have the usual chicken sandwich, tenders, family meals, Caesar salad, and southern style sides (mashed potatoes, curly fries, cole slaw). Prices were pretty steep for the chicken count and size of the sides. Taste didn't match the price. I came with a friend for lunch on Monday. There were two other people here. I ordered a spicy quarter chicken with a side of mashed potatoes with beef gravy and biscuit. My friend ordered two drumsticks and a KFT tea. The tea came out within minutes. My food order took 15 minutes to cook because they didn't have spicy chicken readily available. This was fine because they warned me about that when I ordered. On the other hand, my friend's drumsticks took 30 minutes to cook. 20 minutes into waiting, one of staff came over with a plate of tenders and said "Sorry, the person who was cooking the chicken forgot to cook your food so it's going to take another 10 minutes. Here are some tenders on us while you wait." There are 4 people here. Kind of hard to forget? The gravy was not fresh and had a weird taste to it. The spicy chicken wasn't spicy at all. The complimentary tenders they gave us were alright. The meat was juicy and the breading was flavorful. The downsides were that it looked kind of flat and it was very salty. The drumsticks, when they did arrive, were tiny and salty. The quarter chicken combo was around $10. The two drumsticks were about $7. Overall, it was kind of disappointing. I can get past the weirdness of serving southern fried chicken with taiwanese tea because it was my fault for assuming. However, the quality and quantity absolutely does not justify the cost. I'm a bit confused as to why the current rating is so low. The staff is very friendly, it's clean, the atmosphere is nice, and the food was great. I got the spicy two piece meal and my boyfriend got the wings; the chicken was very juicy and has a great flavor, the cheese curds were really good too, the corn is good and has an unique flavor and the taro slush was really good too. Whenever I stop by the Kung Fu Tea in this area, I'll usually grab some fried chicken along with my drink. Their sandwiches are pretty solid, if a little more on the pricier side, and 9 times out it 10 they are out of the kwa kwa bao -- but the most recent time I stopped by, it was actually in stock! I love the crunch of the chicken skin and the salty chew of the glutinous rice inside. I do sometimes wish the drink and food combos were a better deal, as I feel I can find similar quality chicken sandwiches/tenders/fried chicken for a much lower price point elsewhere, but it's nice to be able to get my fried chicken and boba fix without having to travel to multiple locations, and it's a convenient seven minute drive from my apartment. Second visit and my first impression has been confirmed. The chicken was actually even crispier this time, but just as juicy and delicious. Best fried chicken I've had. I'm salty they didn't complete my order and I couldn't get a hold of them via phone. I came on the first weekend they were opened. I honestly didn't expect much...we order a whole chicken, chicken tenders, corn, biscuits and kwa kwa bao. I have no clue what the bao is so I was curious to find out, except they never gave it to me. Since I ordered everything to go I asked the girls if all my orders were in here and she said yes. I trusted her so I left with me food and my bao wasn't there. I tried calling but no one picked up. Fricking useless to have a phone if you don't use your phone. On to the food, tenders were awful. TKK was my hubby's childhood memory from Taiwan back in the 80's. He was super excited about the reopening with Kung Fu Tea in Richardson. We finally visited for the first time last night and would like to share our mixed feelings on our visit. We waited patiently for 25 minutes just like everyone else. Our food was super fresh, juicy and tasty! However, our disappointment was not about the food. The Menu - We noticed the couple in front of us took a few minutes longer than usual to decide on their order. When they've finally paid and done, our family was still trying to figure out what each combo includes and what's counted as an upgrade. For future reference, combo meal comes with either a classic side or a drink, boba is extra. There is a list of classic sides to choose from, premium sides extra. Our Order - My husband ordered the 3 Piece Combo, which comes with 3 mixed chicken + a biscuit + 1 classic side. Here is the tricky part, you can sub for a Med milk tea (add boba for 50 cents) OR upgrade to a Premium side for $1 more. My son ordered the Chicken Sandwich Combo which includes a sandwich + 1 classic side. He substituted to a Med milk tea and added boba for 50 cents extra. I ordered 2 individual Kwa Kwa Bao (size is about 3/4 of my palm) Overall the food was decent but definitely not worth the wait time and price. Our bill came out to be $30 but we knew that was not enough food/drink for the 3 of us. Husband also questioned why the POS prompted credit card holders for tips when it was 100% self service fast food setting. Ordered the eight piece chicken meal to go. We ordered it spicy, and it was just the right amount of spicy to truly enjoy the flavors. We really liked the chicken, and would definitely eat it again. Fries would have been great if we had eaten in the restaurant, because the flavor was there... And that's a risk in getting food to go. Good sauce options. People working the counter with very nice, and they answered questions, patiently. I was curious about the bao, so we ordered two on the side. My daughter said that if they had been flavored differently, it almost was like a Boudin ball. conceptually I agree, but I do think they needed more flavoring. Ehh.. I'm sorta disappointed by this place because my friends hyped it up and it didn't live up to it. FYI, on Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm you get a free drink if you purchase a combo. It was warm and tasted kind of stale (like it's been sitting under the heat lamp forever) Fried chicken (3/5) the chicken has flavor but again it wasn't fresh. It would've tasted better fresh because the crispness was there but not completely. I was also disappointed again because I really liked the kwa kwa bao and I wanted to order one for my boyfriend. When I tried to get it they said I can only order it with a purchase. SEE?? This is a review for the fried chicken restaurant side of the house: This is one of those places that I would like to nominate them to Gordon Ramsey's restaurant makeover/ improvement show - they have so so much potential to attract more customer. They need a bit more help on the business restaurant side - someone to help give them a bit more coaching on service, hygiene appeal and employee satisfaction. The food is good and they need to get better on the business side of things- otherwise these faults eats away at the quality of food and experience. The meal we had was good and there was a 20 min wait which I expected for any good fried chicken. I think the music was a bit too loud (straight Ariana grande at full blast and they didn't even bother to pay extra for their streaming service so there's regular moments of loud commercial that comes up that disrupts the vibe). The biscuit was nice and airy (not your typical american flaky kind) and the sides of charred corn and coleslaw was ok. The experience dining in was underwhelming and I think they need to pay more attention to maintaining a clean and orderly perception to guests. read more

I was quite excited to hear that my favorite childhood chicken store has opened in Dallas, and I happened to be passing by. About the chicken- if you get the original recipe, it will taste pretty much true to what you'll get in taiwan. The batter is very flavorful, and it has a garlicky aroma that most other fried chicken places dont have. It definitely tastes a bit asian. I also tried their spicy chicken as well, and it was good, but it just tasted like a spicier version of church's. So i highly recommend people to try the original if theyve never had tkk before. Now about the sides. My favorite part about tkk in taiwan is the sweet raisin buns they have.... and they don't serve it in this version of the chain :( made me super sad. However, they still had the kua kua bao, and to my surprise, their sweet potato fries stayed true to how it is in taiwan with the yellow yam! One star taken off because as much as they stayed true, the fries were super dry. I really hope they migrate the full taiwanese menu here! read more

It is freshly made, so be patient! Fried chicken only taste good when it's piping hot, crispy, crunchy & moist on the inside. And this place excels in ALL OF IT! Seriously! The marinade is so flavorful you actually don't need any dipping sauce although they have about 5 different kinds to choose from. The chicks here is very tasty! I love the crispy spicy and crispy mild. My boyfriend loves the original. The sides are very good and it's a nice variety! It's a nice change from KFC or any other fast food chicken place. The kwa kwa bao is also a favorite! It's the only place that sells it and it's very yummy. I love the options they give us! Although wife is not a huge fried-chicken fan, I have been really wanting to try this for a long time, as the last time I had it was in Taiwan. We finally got around to it awhile ago; walked in at [close to] 8pm and was glad they were still open. We ordered a Family Meal and a Kwa Kwa Boa along with other Kung Fu drinks to go. Even though we were the only customers, it was a little longer wait than expected, but doable. Pros: The cashier was nice and patient when we explained that it was our first time there; we were surprised that she allowed us to request as many sauce as we want also (the Honey Garlic is really good). The chicken pieces are big and SUPER juicy inside, and the charcoal corn is delicious. Cons: Maybe we have only been eating American fried-chicken, so this feels a little pricer, but still okay once in awhile. Wife wasn't too into the herb-taste in the chicken; I thought it was okay, although some pieces had a heavier herb taste than other pieces (the lighter ones are better). The Kwa Kwa Boa was a little burnt or over-fried (hope it wasn't from the day before and they refried it), so that didn't match what I had in Taiwan; still good, but I think it can be better. The kids weren't feeling up to leaving the house for dinner so we decided to swing by TKK with the hopes that the initial rush had died down. The space definitely has a different vibe now and smells like boba + fried stuff. Not necessarily a bad thing... The food was decent. We ended up ordering a Quarter Chicken combo but had to Frankenstein our meal because the combo system is a little weird. We added one more dark meat piece of chicken and ordered the cheese curds, boba tea & fountain drink separately. The Crispy Mild chicken steadily built up for me while I was eating it (but I'm a wimp when it comes to anything spicy) and the Crispy Spicy had a tiny kick (but my husband loves spicy food). The cheese curds were yummy (but eat them while they're hot) and the curly fries were pretty average. I felt like our food took a really long time to make, but apparently everything is cooked to order so that it's as fresh as possible. Which is awesome. We'll probably be back with the kids but might have to try the Original chicken first to make sure. With all the sauces they have, we'll be able to find them something I'm sure. I really like what they did to improve the Kung Fu Tea to include TKK fried chicken. The chicken is very good. The biscuit rivals Popeyes, and the sides are good, just very light on flavor. Overall, if I had any complaint, it's that it is a bit pricey in comparison to other chicken places. Hopefully they'll adjust it a bit when it becomes more popular. read more

Tonight my husband went into this location to order (I stayed behind in the car). There was one customer in front of him and one behind him. The woman at the counter took the order of the person in front and as soon as my husband got to the counter the cashier abruptly stated that the kitchen was closed. When my husband left, we noticed that the customer behind him appeared to be ordering. As we drove out of the parking lot, I called the store to ask if they were open for takeout and the woman who answered said "yes"!
