We had lunch at Tlacuaches and really enjoyed it. It is a casual food counter with outdoor seating nearby, but the food is very good. I had the Ahi Tacos and my husband had the plate that came with 4 different tacos. The tacos were very tasty and the portions were huge. We also received our food very quickly, so this would be a good option when you don't have a lot of time.

Tucked into the corner by the stairs at Eaton Square in Waikiki. Not visible from the street! Street tacos, Birria tacos, quesadillas, flautas, nachos, and burritos are on the menu. All made to order you can order online or go up to the window. The food is tasty and hearty! There are tables in the courtyard where you can sit under a tree and enjoy your yummy nibbles! It's hard to get away from the hordes of people in Waikiki... But you can actually have a nice quiet lunch here.... Street parking or paid parking at Villa on Eaton Square. Open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM and closed on Wednesdays.

Had some tacos from this unassuming window in a shopping center. It didn't seem like the kind of place that would be good. Tlacuaches808 was. A lot of choices from this small place. You can eat at one of the tables or get takeout. Cool that you can just order at a window, and take your stuff to any table and eat. It's kind of hard to find at first. This is located in the corner by a massage parlor. Has a few ways to order. It's about $18 to get the Free Style. Get your meal in any style of your choice. There's burritos, salads, and tacos. After this choose a protein. It can be meat or vegetables. After this choose a side. These include rice and beans, or whatever. Packs a lot into a container. They're generous with the big portions. Good place to look for. It's located in the Eaton Square Shopping Center on Hobron. There's a small menu but there's things for meat eaters and vegetarians.

Fabulous food! Huge amount of food and tastes amazing! Hidden in the back of Eaton Square Shopping Center, it is quite the find for authentic Mexican food.

First time here. Asked if I could order a bean, rice & cheese burrito. Guy wanted to argue about how they do things their way. So I said ok if you won't order my burrito I'll order something else. He said he would do it for 18.95 $ no guacamole. OK. I the asked about fish tacos. He wouldn't tell me, instead reaching out his window past me to point out the sign describing the taco plate. Tlacuaches 808 is the real deal. The service was next level amazing, our server basically treated us like royalty, throwing in extra bierria tacos, tortillas, and salsa for free. The food portions were massive, like "call a friend to help you finish" massive. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I left with leftovers that could feed a small village. If you want a place that makes you feel like you when stop by grandmas house for food, Tlacuaches 808 is your place!!!

Great food and friendly service. My wife asked why we came here when there's so many choices in the tourist areas. I told her because if people are willing to go out of their way for food, that means it's good. Restaurants in the touristy areas are hit or miss because regardless if the food is good or not, tourists will come. read more

OMG, the best mexican food I have eaten so far in Hawaii. Everything on the menu is freshly made. They even make fresh juice from fruits of the season. No MSG, friendly staff and cook. They give huge portions, 2 can share one meal. All around awesome place right in Eaton Square Waikiki. read more

This place is a total rip off. The guy at the front is rude. We were trying to find a good option for one of our family members that's vegetarian and he said they weren't able to customize the orders because they already come with what they are. Ummm what?? so are you guys just warming up premade burritos or what. He said they had no guac and we couldn't add sour cream to our burritos either. The outside isn't even that nice. We then got our food and luckily checked the box and saw ants!!! I'm so mad i didn't take a picture. He wanted to give us an ugly attitude even after we showed him the ants!!! If your questioning the location, don't , this place is a hidden gem. The short version is you must try is their Birria tacos and that consome they could sell all by itself, just delicious! I really had high hopes for this place but was very disappointed. Ordered the carne asada chimichanga plate. There were only beans and meat inside. The meat was chewy. Yelp puts up a notice that businesses are doing their best during Covid times. I think restaurants should reduce their menu items if they can't guarantee the meals will be as good as (falsely) advertised. read more

Absolutely superb. Forget everywhere else on Waikiki with the endless lines of tourists, this is the spot. I had the kalua pork flautas, and they were sublime. As good Kalua pork as I have had anywhere on the islands tucked into delicious flautas. My fiancée and I also split the triple dip situation and all three were spot on. This place is vegetarian friendly and the owner let me know the beans are vegetarian. All the staff were super nice and the vibe at the truck was great. I'll be back tomorrow! read more

Been passing by this food truck everyday and I heard it was really good. I decided to stop by on Saturday and I been missing out to some delicious food! I got two items to try which included their taco and brirria special, and their flautas. Both plates were amazing. There were so much flavor. My plates did come with hot sauce but it was not necessary and it actually threw off the taste as the plates were tasty as they were. Parking may be a challenge as it is mostly street parking. If you're in Kaka'ako do yourself a favor and stop by here. The truck has a great vibe and owners are super nice and friendly. Jesse, behind the griddle is from Mexico and he's putting out food that's a great blend of authentic Mexican style food mixed with American fare. They also have a hand washing station, and they use recyclable/compostable containers. The food is delicious, inexpensive, and filling. We shared the carnitas which came with the pork, rice, corn tortillas, beans, tortilla chips, jalapeños, lettuce, and red and green sauces. They even provided some extra tortillas when they saw we were sharing. We also had the horchata, and a tamarind Jarrito's. It was honestly perfect. It was so ono we had destroyed half the plate before we realized we should have taken a pic to share on here. Next time, lol! They also have taco Tuesdays where they do birria tacos, and we plan on checking them out ASAP. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. First off, so grateful they were open on Super Bowl Sunday because my family was craving Mexican so we had a huge order of a bunch of things. Burritos, French fries, tacos, fajitas, and more! The best things were the barrio tacos, chilaquiles and the carnitas fries!! Skip the burrito and the fajitas which are just okay - but the real bummer was the rice which smelled sour! We ended up not eating it since we were afraid it might be spoiled. read more

The tacos are awesome. He used to have a food truck in Waikiki, but now is in a storefront on Hobron lane behind the food pantry. Not just your run of the mill taco place, they have some great authentic dishes: Birria tacos, Tlacauche taco sampler to name a few. Glad this guy is doing well, the food is great. read more

So you're in Waikiki with a ton of options and my family chooses the food truck for Taco Tuesday meal. The burritos we ordered were gut bombs, but really other than it's impressive size, it didn't impress at all. It lacked flavor and other than the burrito shape, there was no connection to Mexican flavor. I ordered the carnitas burrito (it was dripping with juice-messy), my husband ordered the carne asada and my the son ordered the chicken quesadilla. If you're searching for a good meal, move on, there's plenty of other choices. If your looking for a gut bomb and choose to ignore your palate, then this is the place for you. The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly! We did think that this was a taco truck however it is located in the tiny corner of a mostly dead shopping mall. That being my only complaint is that there really isn't a clean place to eat there near the restaurant. Most of our party had birria tacos and the other tried the special combo plate with the chefs choice of meats. His favorite was the chicken quesadilla. Established in 2020.

Chef and I went down with the ship during COVID-19. The Owners decided keeping the business had a bleak future. Chef and I agreed not to quit and start our own business no matter what circumstances Covid or a pandemic presented. Hard work, perseverance, trust and experience prevailed with the birth of Tlacuaches 808. Not once have we looked back, only keeping our sights on the future. We constantly strive to be better and do better. We take pride in bringing 100% effort every day to give the best quality food and service we possibly can. We have now been successfully operating the truck for two years! In a turn of events we have put the truck on hold. Introducing Taqueria Tlacuaches! When we explained that we had specifically been told 9:00 p.m., instead of apologizing for the miscommunication, she immediately argued with us, insisted we were wrong, and spoke to us in a rude, dismissive, and condescending manner. There was zero empathy. Long wait times are understandable. Poor customer service is not. If the original estimate had been accurate, we would have made different dinner plans instead of wasting nearly an hour waiting under false expectations. What made this experience so frustrating wasn't the wait--it was being treated like we were lying about what we had been told. The hostess's attitude completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. We left and took our business elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants in Waikīkī that value their guests and know how to treat people with basic courtesy and respect. I would not recommend Duke's based on this experience.

The location off the beaten path is what originally drew me in. The exterior patio seating with blue umbrellas made me curious. Once I walked inside, I instantly knew the Cuban food was going to hit. Not only did it hit, it exploded into space and I returned 4 times on my vacation and recruited family members to go multiple times as well. On my first solo visit, I was going in to strictly get coffee and then decided to give a main dish a shot which was the traditional cuban. Let me tell you - I wish my husband was with me as the portions here are out of this world. This dish came out on a colorful dish on top of a bamboo board with fruit galore! It looked like a painting that I shouldn't touch but rightfully did. Needless to say, I had a leftover box on day 1. I then returned more times and want to highlight the Monte Castro sandwich which I fortunately or unfortunately split with my husband. Unreal!! It was drizzled in honey, served on the bamboo plate, had double decker bread and a plethora of fruit and some picked veggies on the side. I don't want to say more because I want everyone to go and split this meal with a loved one. It is award winning deserving. For my 3rd visit, I had the papaya bowl and once again - it was fantastic and required a to-go box as well. I'm so sad to know I'll never get to try the tres leche French toast as my vacation is coming to a close and there are so many more items I wanted to try. Castro's knows how to do it and I really think all restaurants should take notes from this establishment. From the water guns to spray the birds away to the dining service experience to the quality and taste of the menu item - chef's kiss. Thank you, thank you!!! Best meals in Hawaii hands down.
