This place is so convenient for me since it's near my house. I've been taking my car here for a smog test for the past few years. The owner is very friendly and courteous. They provide fast service and their price is fair. They also have a small waiting area where you can sit and watch TV! I like how they're open every day from Monday-Sunday so you don't have to worry about not having time to go here. I definitely recommend getting your smog test here! read more

I recently moved to North San Jose. A quick Google search showed TNT as the closest smog station to me. Their hours of operation are great, as they are open on both Saturday and Sunday. I went in and had my inspection no problem. The car failed because of a burned out light bulb, located behind the dash. I was told to have it fixed and bring back proof of it being fixed within 30 days or I would have to redo the smog. The lady at the front desk told me I would not have to have the car put back on the machine if I fixed it within 30 days. Lies! I brought my fixed car back before the allotted 30 days with proof from the mechanic. When i get there, the older gentleman takes my paper, looks at it and begins talking to another customer about how much I paid for my repairs and what my repairs were. There were also other customers in the office waiting for their car to be Smogged. He continued to shout out about how much I paid. I asked him to not do so. This I attribute to a language barrier, because he continued to do so. My discontent in this particular business is the lack of proper communication amongst staff. When I got there I was told I would have to do another smog check. I was under the impression that my visit was going to be an in and out. Instead I sat for 30 min with food in the car as I was just coming back from the grocery store. Overall not a bad place just bad communication and improper information given out to customers. Update: While sitting and waiting, another gentleman walks in with an older model car. The working gentle man takes his papers, walks over to me and showed me that he paid $971 for his registration. I brought my Audi to Discount Smog Center on Berryessa to get smogged...wait time wasn't bad considering there were 3 cars ahead of me...I waited about 15 mins. He brought my car in and I could hear him getting in and out of the car cursing and shaking his head....each time he got in the car he revved it louder and louder. After 10 mins of him cursing and snot-shotting all over the garage, and revving the sh*t out of my car he says...."I don't want to do it...I tried 10 times already, your gas pedal is too sensitive".....oooooohhhhh kaaayyyyyy??!!! This guy has done my car before but for some reason he couldn't do it. I didn't appreciate his cursing since my 3 year old son was with me...I also didn't appreciate the revving to redline of my car, and the attitude I was given as if it was my fault that he didn't know what he was doing. I ended up taking my car to TNT Smog Test on 914 Commercial St (2mins away)...they charged the same amount, the place was cleaner, friendlier, faster service....they tested my car right away without any issues....never heard my car rev'd to the point that I thought my engine was gonna explode. Considering that the price is more or less the same and it is very close to Discount Smog....TNT Smog will get my business from now on based on customer service, cleanliness, speed and Technician know how. Also if you have a lowered vehicle......you will NOT have fun getting in/out of Discount Smog Center....If you're slammed take it to TNT. read more

Friendly fast staff. They have a cozy waiting area and they were playing a documentary on Sinatra which made the time go by faster. All the other places were charging 60 bucks for my make and model and they only charged 40 bucks with a yelp checkin. No hassle and easy exchange. Will definitely refer people here! read more

Gotta watch this place. Went over there during the weekend and failed. Thought about it and I waited 30min. That was enough time to cool the engine a bit. Then they pull my car in without warming up. Paid and was told I failed. Could be Cat, O2 sensor... Or timing??. Never going back!! read more

Friendly guy who works the shop. But be warned, he'll tell you that it'll only take you fifteen minutes till you're done. I sat in the waiting room (watching Cesar Millan, which that as cool) and listened to him tell at least three people they'd be done in fifteen. They were not. No need to under state the number. Went here at noon on a Wednesday to get a car I was about to purchase smogged. There were 2 guys working here and they took us right away. The smog was done quickly and efficiently . Managed to show up when they were not busy, had to get a test only smog check, and the coupon was enticing, so I gave them a whirl. In and out in 15 minutes, great guys there. However, I ended up having to go back (left my credit card by mistake) and when I went back there were at least 5 guys waiting in the waiting room, so your mileage may vary. read more

I tried a few other places and they had no time or rudely told me to take it else where since it is not an ordinary car. I was very impressed how fast and friendly he was. Had a 1977 f150 smogged here, the gentleman was super helpful and easy to work with. Spent all morning driving around San Jose and kept getting denied by STAR stations because my truck is old and they're too lazy to manually test them, TNT smog really saved the day! read more
