    TexMex Salad
    Tomas C.

First time coming to this restaurant. It is in a shopping center and sits at the edge as the last business. There is huge parking lot and accommodates outdoor seating as well as inside. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We came in for lunch on a Wednesday. I ordered the green chilaquiles and fresh pineapple juice to drink. The plate was flavorful. At first I couldn't tell it has green sauce but upon eating it I can taste the deliciousness. My mother had the salad. She said it was very tasty and was a good size portion. The menu had a huge selection and I will definitely come back and try another dish. I definitely recommend for breakfast or brunch.

We swung by Toast Cafe and Grill on the edge of Willow Glen for an afternoon brunch--and honestly, this place is a gem. We came in around 2 pm on a Saturday (they close at 3), and even though we stayed late, we didn't feel rushed. Here's the breakdown: Food (4.5 stars) + My molcajete costillitas was a star. Fall-off-the-bone pork ribs, crisp hash browns at the bottom of the hot stone, a red sauce that was just delicious, and even cactus that tasted like bell peppers! (5 stars) + My wife's corned beef hash was solid--fresh corned beef (no can here!), crispy hash browns, all melded together. (4 stars) + Our oldest had the classic breakfast--big, bright eggs, thick bacon, crispy in parts, with country potatoes. (4.5 stars) + The kids' French toast ended up shared, but the server even gave us one sausage and one bacon piece--thoughtful! (4 stars overall) Service/Ambiance (5 stars) + Service was top-notch. The waiter kept us hydrated and even made sure the kids had their perfect combo. + Outdoor seating is dog-friendly--Marley got some tortilla! + Even as they cleaned up, we didn't feel rushed. The place has an international flair with flags, brunch vibes, and spacious seating. I can't think of anything bad to say about this place. We'll definitely be back--especially for that molcajete. If you include value using Inkind credit, this establishment is my top favorite San Jose brunch spot!

    Steak n Eggs!

Vibe: A This is one of many breakfast establishments in the area. Toast does have a following, so weekends can get crowded. Try to time the breakfast rush if you want to avoid a long wait. We ended up dining al fresco today and opted for the patio. The patio offered a nice shaded area with a nice breeze on a sunny day. If you are running solo, you can probably chill at the bar, which is a first-come, first-served basis. Food: A Steak n Eggs: Solid choice, steak was cooked to requested temp, paired with a bed of quispy hash browns, and side of eggs. Super Michelada: The drink itself was up to standard, but the shrimp was slightly overcooked, more so than at other local joints in the area. Service: A Staff were accommodating throughout our stay, no complaints here. - John

    Chile Verde
    Bee E.

Its been at least a couple years since my first visit and I happened to be in the area after my son's graduation in downtown SJ. Got the Chile Verde with over medium eggs and corn tortillas. The verde sauce was not too tangy which I liked and the large pieces of pork chunks were soft and tender. Washed it all down with a Peach Mimosa. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. Its a bit of a trek but I would consider coming back if I were in the area.

    Just wow!

After a great hike at Almaden Quicksilver we indulged at Toast and there wasn't a wait on a Friday for brunch, but it gets increasingly busy as the morning goes on. We shared two dishes- a sweet and a savory. Today's special was the Barbacoa Skillet, with chunks of tender and flavorful beef, breakfast potatoes, grilled onions and topped with over-easy eggs. We had to stop ourselves from eating all of it because we had to make room for the Mazapan pancakes! They had cajeta (Mexican caramel) and topped with Mazapan (nutty pastry). The pancakes are light and fluffy and didn't need syrup. The service is wonderful, the coffee is delicious and the food is spectacular!

Toast Cafe & Grill on Bird Ave in San Jose is a great neighborhood brunch spot with a warm, casual vibe and a menu full of crowd-pleasing breakfast and lunch favorites. We went there with friends for brunch. Their portions are generous, dishes were delicious, Service is usually friendly and welcoming, and while it can get busy during peak weekend hours, it's well worth the short wait for a satisfying and relaxed brunch experience. Ambiance: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Music: 10/10 Seating: bar, patio & main dining room Parking: mall parking available Price: $25-$30 per person

    Chorizo Skillet
    Shelby C.

Came on a saturday at 10am and was seated immediately. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Ordered the chorizo skillet and I would say there is not much chorizo and I was not blown away by the flavor but it is not bad and the portions is decent. Also got the french toast combo and they are both again nothing special but still good. The food came out very fast. Overall good experience.

This place seems really popular and maybe I came in with high expectations, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Service was okay. The food was overall pretty bland and nothing really stood out. I ordered the chile verde and eggs -- the pork was pretty fatty and somehow still dry. The michelada was fine, but definitely not the best I've had. The wait was also pretty long, which made the experience feel less worth it. I can see why people enjoy it (trendy look to it), but it just wasn't for me or the group I came with.

    Receipt and sad tip request

Toast has been a staple for me since moving here 4 years ago from Sacramento and it's definitely gone down hill in the past year or so (as someone who used to come REGULARLY). Both times coming here in the last couple months, the food comes at a common pace but the quality of the food has severely changed. Specifically the steak on the food such as the chilaquiles and steak&eggs, the steak comes dry/rubbery/extremely fatty and well done even though we had asked for medium both times. The French toast also super dry (lacking moisture) and the eggs were overcooked/no flavor both times for both dishes. Now to the service, just today- initially the experience was not the best as the initial host/server to seat us was uninterested in providing service rather rushing to get us to the table and brushing both my partner and I up and down (this person later left due to being sick). The experience started with the buser asking for our drink order and we had advised 2 coffees. Following a brief wait, our waitress came over and requested our drink order (super kind server and buser, nothing against both of them), we put our order for coffee in again and mentioned the buser had also asked so as to not make double work for them. Luckily we were ready to order and placed our order with the server to make it easier on them, as the restaurant was busy. The server then brought over the drinks and we waited for our food. We realized the silverware did not include spoons and we decided to wait for our food as the server and buser were running around (there were only 2 servers for the restaurant - including the manager). While waiting about 20 minutes for our food, we received the food and requested the spoon for the coffee. We waited about 15 minutes before we realized we would not be receiving any spoons or hear back from the servers as they had to continue to take orders and run around the restaurant leaving no room to stop and look around. At this point, we decided to use a knife to avoid bothering the staff. At this point, it was about 25 minutes later, we flagged down the buser and requested the check, as well as bbq sauce for the dry steak - we did not ask for a refund rather just sauce to make the steak bearable. Another 10 minutes later, I flagged down the waitress by getting up to try and get her attention, luckily she heard me and did apologize for the experience after me mentioning several of the abnormalities in the business. I did request to speak to the owners daughter and was ready to kindly advise of the ways in which they can improve but rather was pushed to wait another 15 minutes post payment to speak with the manager. The manager was a kind individual with the regular response but was came across to me as a red flag with this business is the lack of customer care. This is a reflection of the new ownership of the business as I was told many staff have left the business including the original head chef. Unfortunately due to the repeated bad experiences, I will not return to the business but I do wish them the best in the future and hope they rectify the business to stand where it used to be. The stars are for the strong staff members left holding down the fort. Below is the receipt, reflecting the cost of the meal and the pitiful requested tips for the staff. Unfortunately, we did not feel comfortable tipping more despite it being common for us to tip 20%+ always for the staff.

    Cajun shrimp skillet

Here on a Tuesday and it was crowded. They do have outside dining with heaters but we opted to dine in. There was a 15 minute wait to dine inside that went fast. We were seated in a comfy booth. This is a breakfast and lunch place and the hours are from 7:00 to 3:00 Monday- Sunday. They have a little bit of everything and also drinks. I ordered the Cajun shrimp with the potatoes and eggs. It's a special and I don't usually have it on the menu. I also had a passion pineapple mimosa. My husband ordered the classic eggs benedict with fruit and bacon. My sister-in-law ordered the banana's foster french toast. Everything was beyond delicious and Roberto was our server. We're from Southern California and cannot wait to return.

Carnitas scramble and chicken and waffles
    Raymond M.

I ordered the carnitas scramble, and it was okay. The carnitas itself did not have much flavor on its own, and the scramble tasted like a typical egg scramble. The country potatoes were cooked nicely, but the toast came out a bit cold like it had been sitting out. We also tried the chicken and waffle. The waffle was cooked well, but the chicken was not what I expected. I thought it would be tenders, but it was more of a flattened chicken breast. Not bad, but different. The restaurant has plenty of parking, but can get busy. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and both areas have a nice decor. The outdoor section has fire heaters, and it was quiet with no music playing. Customer service was good, and they checked in on us once. All in all, I would come back to try their specialty pancakes and the mimosa flight!

The sizzling hot beef plate served with veggies, rice and a salad was unbelievable. add on a lemon and some more greens sauce and you're in for a treat. the rice alone was so flavorful and it tasted like there was meat drippings on top. the beef was so tender and fell apart in 1 bite. I was blown away with the dish the chicken wrap... man. I'm not sure what kind of bread, pita was used but it was fantastic. a huge wrap with lettuce, onion chicken, sauce and other veggies. It was so messy and hard to eat with your hands so we resorted to eating with a fork and knife. Unreal. Unreal. massive portions again which are a theme here. But holy smokes this was so good. The chicken has a nice char, but is also juicy and saucy. the spongy pita neutralizes the bombardment of flavor from the meat, and the veggies compliment everything with some crunch and texture. Service was great and very helpful. They were extremely friendly and a delight to talk with. We will be back 5/5

I observed a clear case of cross-contamination between non-halal and halal meat handling. A staff member handled pork and then proceeded to serve halal meat using the same gloves, without changing them. The same worker also placed a bag of pork directly on the counter used for halal items. This is not a minor oversight--it reflects a serious lapse in basic halal food handling standards. I raised this with the manager, but unfortunately did not receive the level of assurance or accountability I expected, especially given the severity of the issue. Management needs to take this matter seriously, as it is deeply concerning to the Muslim community. The placement of non-halal meat in close proximity to halal meat should not be considered acceptable in the first place. Based on this experience, I'm giving a 1-star rating.

A wide selection of different salads, lasagna, and even corn dogs are in the glass case too. If you want paninis, there's another deli/cafe section in the store! I split 1 with my bf. Portion wise, I was good with half (+ chips and my drink), but my bf said he could've ordered a whole for himself My new go-to for sandwiches!!! This is up there with Little Luca

It was samples of their chocolate hazelnut which was delicious. The quality of the chocolate higher tier and you can taste it. You can also try samples of the other chocolates they have on display which is awesome. I tried their matcha dark and white chocolate fusion and it was so yummy. Perfect blend between the matcha and the chocolate flavors. You also can break the amount of chocolate that you want and it could even be as small as a sample size too. I believe the cost is by how much it weighs and the type of chocolate? I ended up getting the smaller pieces of the matcha chocolate and the hazelnut chocolate. It came out to be $11.47 for both the chocolates and I have attached a pic to show you. They nicely package it. I def recommend trying this place. The workers here are also very nice! Loved my experience! Also was here around 6pm on a Tuesday and it wasn't too busy.

I really appreciated how generous they were with samples, you can explore different flavors before deciding what to buy. I tried the hazelnut chocolate and loved it. They also had a wide variety to choose from, like Dubai chocolate, truffle milk, truffle caramel, and some nicely packaged gift sets with mixed flavors. Everything looked beautiful and tasted just as good. The quality really just... the best, and you can tell it's premium chocolate. You honestly can't go wrong here, whether to buy for yourself or choosing gift (and chocolate makes the best gifts). It's definitely a spot I'd come back to when I want to buy gifts for my family!
