We have made it a tradition to take our kiddos to Toast for their birthday breakfast for a few years. We were big fans when Toast was over in downtown Littleton, but it seems the quality is slipping. Service: the past two times we've been here, our server, Pedro, has gotten our order wrong and put too many orders of a dish in. We have two small girls, and order one meal to split for them. Each time, rather than clarifying, Pedro just assumes we want one for each and puts two orders in. We then have to send one back and it makes everything awkward. I typically try to tip in accordance with the quality of service (20% is the baseline for decent service). Pedro has gotten 10% the last two times. I'm getting tired of the repeated failures to get our order right. Food: this is the first time my wife and I have been disappointed in the food. She got the smothered chorizo omelet (which is usually great), and I got the steak breakfast burrito. The green chili was completely flavorless on both. When I mean flavorless, I mean there was absolutely nothing to indicate there was anything in my mouth other than some thickened flour. The filling in my burrito was likewise pretty boring. I had to drench my burrito in hot sauce to even taste it. It seems the cooks aren't using any salt or spices at all while cooking. At $15 a plate, I would expect something a better. Meanwhile, my daughters' pancakes were rubbery and hard to cut with a fork. I'm no genius, but even I can make a fluffy, soft pancake with store-bought mix that I don't have to saw through. Almost seems like they pre-made the pancake, refrigerated it and then reheated it before serving it. Luckily my toddlers are just jazzed about them sprinkling chocolate chips and sugar on top, so they didn't care. The coffee used to be good at the old location. Now it's just weak, flavorless coffee. I'm guessing it was a place to cut costs, so just expect some Folgers in your cup. Ambiance: pretty typical for a breakfast/brunch place. Accommodating for little ones. Nothing exciting, nothing to complain about. After these last two visits, we are probably done going here. It's no longer worth the money or aggravation. It seems like they stopped caring about their quality, which happens with some of these places as the gain in popularity. Sad, but luckily there are lots of great places to go in the area (like Lucille's, which is nearby). I'll finish by saying I'm not upset at them, I'm just seeing they're past their prime and it's time to move on to somewhere that still has some passion for what they do. A solid 4.5 stars for Toast. Regular bread is good too. Tortillas are fantastic, especially when they're part of a breakfast burrito. Speaking of which, a breakfast burrito is exactly what I got on my last visit here. Let's just say you need a friend if you plan to tackle one of these burritos in one sitting. So I'm working near Denver and spot this little restaurant called Toast. Well, turns out, I love toast. I mean real, buttery toast- so I had to drop in. Great name for a breakfast joint in my opinion- Actually Toast is a great name for any business- Toast Tire Repair.. Toast, Toast, and Butter Law Firm... Toast Endoscopy... the possibilities are truly endless. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, and yes, a biscuit. Stopped in for a quick breakfast on a weekend, place was very busy but they were able to eat us within twenty minutes which was nice. Our server was quick to help us and we ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and chilaquiles which came out quickly. The green chile smothering the burrito was fairly bland with no real heat or smokiness you'd expect from fresh chiles. The burrito was large but really lacked some flavor. Wife's chilaquiles were a good portion and were slightly better but lacked as much salsa as I'd want personally. The ambience was certainly older age wise so not the most trendy spots. We came here for breakfast on a cold Sunday morning, about 9:20 am. We hardly had a wait; it was like 5 minutes! We ordered beverages and our food. I ordered an omelette with bacon, spinach, smothered in green chili with hash and toast. My beau ordered corned beef with scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. Our breakfast was very delicious. Toast is one of the best brunch places in Colorado! The portions are huge and the specialty coffees are delicious. I recommend getting on the waitlist via Yelp if you go on Friday-Sunday due to the high demand. The staff are very friendly and get your order quickly and your food comes out very fast as well, we waited 10 mins between ordering and all our food coming out. We have had the breakfast burrito, the pancake flight, and the biscuits and gravy. All 10/10 for taste and portion size! Keep it up Toast! read more

POINTLESS WAITLIST There is a yelp waitlist but it really did not work. We checked in on our way and the table was ready as soon as we got there. Even though our table was "ready" we still had to wait outside for another 20 minutes. Our server took our drink order quickly and answered our questions. We ordered the Corned Beef Benedict and the Carnitas Benedict. The food came within a reasonable time. They claim that their corned beef is the best in Denver. The Corned Beef Benedict was good. The Carnitas Benedict was good but I have had way better. The hollandaise was extremely rich as it made both of our stomachs hurt. The side of potatoes were good. Our experience was average. The only reason it's not getting three stars is because they do not know how to use the yelp waitlist. My husband and I LOVE Toast. We had a "regular" brunch place that closed down a few years ago, and never could find anything remotely close to what we expected. It was disheartening. One day, while craving something new, I saw them on Doordash and figured "Why not?" THEY ARE AMAZING! I have had amazing interactions with their staff at the restaurant, you can tell they are proud of the food they serve and it is amazing. Breakfast, lunch, kids menu. You can't go wrong with Toast. It's now become a Football Sunday weekly tradition. We order our Toast, sit down and watch football all day on Sundays. It's definitely worth it. Try it out if you haven't. read more

We ate here on a late Friday morning during vacation. We had chicken biscuits, a breakfast burrito, French toast as well as a crème brûlée latte, cappuccino and tea. Taste of the food was average and could have been served a little warmer. Latte was good and cappuccino was good but extremely strong. Bread used for the French toast was very good. Portions were large. Service was friendly and quick. Atmosphere was pleasant. Oh man the food at this place was so insanely delicious! We will definitely be back and I'd recommend Toast to anyone. With that said, here's some more info: Drinks: we just had the drip coffee and tea. The drip coffee was okay, nothing great but not bad at all so it does the job. They do use organic tea and I thought it was quite good. The coffee is bottomless so you can get refills. Honestly the fancier drinks on the menu looked pretty awesome too, we were seeing several of the tables around us order them. Food: we had the apple onion and squash frittata and the corned beef hash and both of us opted for the deluxe toast upgrade because 'murica. The frittata was super delicious and topped with chevre and mixed greens, the only downside, which isn't really much of a downside, was that the pieces of apple were a tad too big. If they were cut up smaller, similar to the size of all the other ingredients, we thought it would have been better, but regardless it tasted great! The corned beef hash was the best corned beef hash I've ever had, and my husband agreed. The eggs were perfectly over easy, the potatoes that are served with the dish were tasty (and not smothered in oil like you get in a lot of breakfast places) and the corned beef was delicious. I'd highly recommend any of their dishes that have the corned beef, and we will definitely be back to try their reuben some time in the future. FYI they make their own corned beef so whatever they're doing I hope they never change it because it's awesome! With the toast upgrade we had nutty pancakes and the walnut banana French toast. The nutty pancakes are delicious if you're a lover of Nutella. I really enjoyed them though thought that the pancakes were a tad on the drier side. I have not tried the French toast but my husband said they were delicious. Either way, the fact that it's only $5 to upgrade and get a huge pancake or French toast with your dish is a fantastic deal! While it is true that this place is a touch on the expensive side, I'd say it's worth it because the food is great quality and fresh, the service is friendly, and the portions are humongous. Service: we got on the wait list through yelp while we were on our way to the restaurant, and we were seated within a minute of arriving so I'd recommend doing that otherwise the wait may be quite long as noted by other reviewers. Our waiter was very friendly, we had absolutely no complaints and very much enjoyed our breakfast. Overall, I'd highly recommend Toast to anyone, and we will definitely be back (I think this is like the third time I mentioned this in this review, if you weren't convinced on how much we enjoyed the food)! read more

We may have hit an off day, being a holiday weekend? The eggs were runny and cold, the pancakes and French toast were cold and a little dried out. It took a lot of butter to make them sort of edible. The majority of us got coffee and water. The coffee was excellent! Service was better than average. Some of the older folks in our party had difficulty hearing the wait staff they interacted with and they didn't speak slowly enough. They're obviously used to rattling off their menu and options, but we weren't used to hearing it. We might try them again and see if it's better. But probably not. Toast is one of those places that started out as this wonderful little "side joint" to get breakfast. It was always very hard to get in pre-pandemic because their place was so tiny, but the decadence that awaited you on the other side of those doors caused you to think ahead so you could make a reservation for "next weekend". We ate there many times. Even during the pandemic we stopped by for take-out and would eat it in the park. It's not that it was the greatest breakfast you'll ever eat but it was a step above the Le Peeps of the city. And the portion sizes were massive, so much so that after the first couple of times we just split an order between two people. Then they moved to the old Egg & I location and, in our opinion, things went down hill. Coincidentally we loved Egg & I at that location and it was one of our go-to spots, so this initially worked out well and we were excited to make Toast our new go-to (of course that was dreaming, check the wait list on any given weekend day and you'll see that you can never just "drop by"). Some places struggle to scale to a larger customer base, I think Toast was impacted by this as well. Our first experience at the new location was quite lackluster. We were seated outside in the parking lot and were ignored entirely for nearly 15 minutes. I have a rule, if a restaurant can't be bothered to even say hello in 15 minutes I just walk out, so they just barely missed that deadline. Once they got our order it took 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive and then almost 25 minutes after that for our order to arrive. So, from a service perspective, not so good. This was even trying to get the attention of the wait staff that would go out to deliver other orders - you could tell they were so overwhelmed that they were singularly focused and had no time for anything else. The food was the big disappointment. When we got our order, the entire order was cold and the eggs were underdone (i.e., 1/2 runny whites) and part of the order was missing. I asked the person who delivered the order (not the same person who took it) for salt & pepper and that I had ordered bacon but not gotten it. We never saw that person again. Finally I went into the restaurant and had to dig into the Door Dash self-service station to get salt and pepper and had to forego the drink refill and bacon. Once I complained to the waitress, who finally showed up when we were almost done with our meal, she brought out some cold floppy bacon (I ordered extra crispy) long after we finished up, so I told her she might as well take it off the order, and she did. So this was not a good experience. We figured, they are just finding their post-pandemic legs, dealing with a new space and are probably a bit understaffed and decided we would give it another shot. Two weeks later, a similar experience. Cold food, slow service, missing or incorrect order and that was the final nail. I struggled with how many stars to give this review. One was too low, Toast served us well for a long time, but I have to consider this is for current service, not what they were before. Three stars says "ok" and it really wasn't ok, it was less than ok, so two stars it is. I sincerely hope that Toast overcomes their growing pains and returns to how they were before the move and the pandemic. We will probably give it one last shot in a few months to see if that happens and, if not, we will just consider Toast a casualty of growing pains and changing restaurant dynamics. read more

Very best chicken fried steak I have had in Colorado and I have tried well over a dozen options. It was perfectly fried, batter stayed on, quality beef and had that homemade taste, texture and appearance. I asked for my eggs well done and scrambled and they were also perfect. Many times well done eggs are served to me with raw patches, so I was thrilled to get thoroughly cooked eggs. The home fries served with my steak plate were also wonderful. 8/10 in Colorado they serve hard, under done potatoes at breakfast joints. These were tender but a little firm, golden brown and lovely. I upgraded to biscuits and gravy and this was okay. One biscuit was somewhat firm and the other was tender and lovely. Gravy had a nice traditional flavor. My husband ordered a pancake flight and most were great but the Nutty ones arrived so over cooked I needed a knife to cut through them. They were also missing the bananas mentioned on the menu. The flavor was great though. They just got a little over done. The other 3 sets were very flavorful and mostly tender. We shared a lovely Raspberry white chocolate truffle latte and it was great. Regular coffee was nice, hot and fresh. I am looking forward to returning. Ambiance wasn't fantastic as it gets rather noisy when full, but it had a classic cafe vibe and the interior is pretty tiny but enough space to get the job done. The reviews are very high on this place, but unfortunately, my meal was less than satisfying. I ordered the honey fried chicken biscuits. I tasted honey on one bite of the chicken, which was the first one. The hashbrowns had no flavor, were gummy & chewy. It's as if they were just reheated from the day before. My wife liked her meal, though, so it could be that I was just unlucky. Not sure if we'll visit again. I will say that this is one of the few places were you can dine in, responsibly of course. I've come to really appreciate this cornerstone breakfast place at the west end of downtown Littleton. It's usually noisy - no denying it - but their food is always delicious, with lots of choices, and the servers are quick and friendly. Parking in their lot is often all taken, but it turns over quickly, and there are usually additional choices on the streets nearby. Toast is a small breakfast/ brunch / lunch hole in the wall place next to Arapahoe community college. The food there was excellent and the portions were big. It is a rare find when the price, quantity and quality ratios are all good and Toast pulls it off. I tried the poutine breakfast and my wife the Denver omelet. Both were very good. One came with a side of French toast which was huge! That alone could have been a meal so we shared it as a desert. It was not too sweet or bland, delicious. The parking lot is very small so we had to park a ways down the street and walk there. Be mindful of the possible challanging parking situation and prepared to park elsewhere but it is worth the effort. read more
