This is place is ok, it's definitely a hipster vibe full of hype, beautiful pictures on social media but ok tasting food. Nothing really stood out. I always enjoy eating here. Service is always great. I'm a tea-drinker and anyone who fills up your hot water without you painstakingly tracking them down is a saint in my eyes and that's something that's consistent every time I come here. When I leave, they also give me a to-go cup with hot water so I can keep enjoying my tea. Seriously, these are the only people who GET IT. There can be a wait, but it's never been too bad. We love to sit on their patio. The food is priced a bit high but that's typical for brunch. I sit at a table Apparently not for one person and the manager gives me a rude look and a under his breath says something to his server, which I obviously can tell he wanted me to move to a smaller table, mind you it's 8am their are only 6 other people in there . I wouldn't have mind moving had he asked kindly and not speak under his breath and be so rude . When I went to pay my check , I commented to him how rude I thought he is , he simply says " I'm glad you enjoyed your meal" . I feel bad for the servers whom appear to be walking on egg shells. Try this place with my family few days ago, not impressed at all. Coffee was not even warm, and when the male waiter bring the coffee, his fingers were on top of the cup without gloves with some coffee splashed on the tray. The muffins were dry and hard. Food awsome!! Service and out door eating area not so much. We were told to choose whereto sit, 3 vacant tables were dirty. Finally chose large table in corner , one of the legs was very wobbly. I did mention it to server as we were leaving . After taking our drink order , she never came back to ask if we needed refills. We all had ordered coffee. Definitely a Hidden Gem of the Whittier area. You need to get there early, because there's always a large line. It is very cutely decorated, and they have a lot of very healthy options. It was our first time here today and it has instantly become a favorite. I have q very strict and specific diet that I find I always have to break because went I eat out there's not a lot of choices. But not at Toast. I had gluten free toast and waffles (which were amazing!!!) and a dairy free Mexican mocha. They also offer pasture raised eggs!!omg I'm in heaven. Portions are large enough to even split in two. The patio area is super quaint and cozy and the service excellent. They offer complimentary coffee and water while you wait and discount for veterans. The Benedict was so salty it was almost inedible-- with a cold, broken Hollandaise and a couple of hairs tossed in. The first cup of coffee was obscenely bad, but a cup from the next pot was good, so that may have been a one-off. The potatoes were the only thing decent. I've only been here once but I had a good experience. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating have tables and semi-booths with patio umbrellas for shade. I ordered one of the flavored lemonades which was very good. I also ordered the salmon avocado toast. That was also very good. The space is small inside so you can imagine it getting full quickly. But they also have shaded outside seating! I used the wait list on here. It gave me a time to check in by at the restaurant to not lose my spot on the wait list. It was real time so it showed me how many groups were before me and when they were seated. When we arrived the inside was full. I let them know I was on the wait list from yelp. They confirmed my name. They offered us a table outside. There was only two other groups outside and they had these big umbrellas at each table. We went for it since it was a beautiful day. Very simple but very cute setting outside. Wanted to try something different in the coffee department. I had the lavender latte and it did NOT disappoint. My husband said it tasted like a plant lol but his palate is a little more basic than mine! I thought it was great. There were little lavender buds in the glass. Kids thought they were bugs but I thought it was great for the GRAM! There is not a kids menu. But there are sides which I think is great. Especially because my kids aren't the best eaters. You can get like a side of 3 eggs, bacon, or fruit which is pretty inexpensive. Plus the bowl of fruit is a really generous size. I also ordered a pumpkin pancake. A PUMPKIN PANCAKE in August! I was lured in due to the high number of 5 star ratings however, our experience was VERY DISAPPOINTING. We checked in on Yelp but found out it was all pointless. We saw how they sat others before us even though Yelps waiting list said we were now first in line. After talking to the host, he offers us a table that had been ignored by all other customers due to sun exposure (on this particular day it happened to be very warm, 87degrees). We asked for a table with shade and the host literally froze and did not know how to respond. I can only assume he was new based on his body language and customer service (he responded with "ummmm" and looked around and another "ummm" later, we told him we would wait for another table). There was another host who clearly heard and saw what was going on and she completely ignored the situation and kept looking at her phone. My husband who is always much more understanding and patience (because he owns his own business) was also frustrated at this point. When we were finally sat down, we noticed many empty tables besides us that needed bussing and the floor was dirty with napkins and food debris. This might have jaded my expectations as I thought the food was mediocre and not worth the 1 hour drive and wait time (1.5hr). The only great experience we had was the servers. They were fast to greet us, take our order, and often checked on us. I'm sad that I didn't get the 5 star experience so many others raved about but I hope maybe in the far future I'll give it another shot. read more

The bare minimum that I expected from Toast is to have had eggs Benedict with the English muffin toasted with all the goodness. Unfortunately, my English muffin that came with my poached eggs was not toasted. My poached eggs were cold and the hollandaise sauce was cold as well--making the whole meal dissatisfying. I can't remember what my daughter ordered but it looked really good and fresh which, she also enjoyed as well. We split a strawberry cinnamon french toast with icing, which we also really enjoyed.
