It's always good to find a very good breakfast place, and Toasty was that! Walking in I was thinking to myself this place is pretty typical of the breakfast & lunch cafes popping up all over town. The sparsely yet tastefully decorated dining room, the obligatory neon sign in a designated picture taking area etc. , this place had all of it. The food and service here differentiated them here though... The service was great. My server, Melanie did a great job. She was also assisted by the owner who came by early in the experience and thanked me for being at the restaurant. Both checked in on me and made sure I had everything I needed. Too many restaurant owners don't understand the importance of they themselves being the face of their business, but they get that here and it's refreshing. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at Toasty this afternoon. We waited for about ten minutes before being greeted by our server, who we saw a total of 3 times. The restaurant was probably half full, so it was not a workload issue. Tables sat after us were greeted and had ordered before we knew who our server was. We had to ask for utensils to stir our coffee, and I never received the almond milk I requested. No refills were offered for water or coffee until we'd finished our meal. My kids and I tried Toasty on a whim and it turned out to be a win! We have trouble finding breakfast places that we all agree on, but Toasty got everyone's thumbs up. If parents are concerned about the amount of sugar their kids consume, then this might not be the place to take them. Both of my kids got the Mickey Mouse Oreo pancakes, and as you can guess it was Oreo cookies crumbled on top of pancakes, smothered with sweet sauces. For a lot of kids this is heaven. I went with a protein heavy steak and egg bowl and absolutely loved it. One of the best breakfasts I've had in any Dallas restaurant. Our server was incredibly sweet and checked in on us the perfect amount of times. The place itself is very clean with cute signs and sayings hung throughout. I think the only hard part for me is I still cannot get used to how pricey breakfast has become. Toasty isn't more expensive than your average breakfast diner, but it is just crazy to me how much you have to spend on breakfast these days. Easy parking but there was a wait time as the location isn't that big but I didn't wait long. They do have a pretty nice sized waiting area. I didn't enjoy all the screaming babies today (not sure if any one does) but it didn't completely ruin my experience as the restaurant has no control over that. I asked for the cheese, which was not cheddar as I asked, but the mixed blend, to be cooked into the eggs and not just on top. They also weren't scrambled light, but slightly hard. Overall the dish was pretty good for the value. Especially since you get your choice of French toast (a few options), eggs, sausage AND bacon. One thing I will say is I didn't realize the strawberry and Nutella was an add on as the menu say "your choice" for the French toast combo. We timed it right - they were not busy at all at 10am on a Saturday, so we grabbed a booth instead of waiting to be seated (sorry!) and were promptly approached by Chelsee. She was smiling, asked questions and was genuinely interested in getting our order right. I ordered a vanilla latte $5.50 and she ordered a caramel macchiato $5.85. I never eat all my food - it's a problem, lol. So I ordered the oatmeal $9 and the pancake combo $16. My eggs were cooked according to order and everything was so good! I only had a few bites of everything, as the latte & water had filled me up. I've had better lattes, so I switched to regular coffee. My grand had the french toast combo which she loved. Stopped by Toasty for brunch and was impressed for being a small space, it was jam packed at 10 am. That made me think it must be good. They haven't been open long they said, but talk about an option for everyone. The menu showcased something for whatever you are in the taste for. Sweet, Savory, Benedicts, Crepes, French toast, Pancacke, Omelets, Salads, Burgers, you name it. So I was feeling like something sweet but light, and decided to go with the crepe combo, that comes with 2 crepes, bacon, eggs and sausage (which I switched for hash browns). The portion sizes were awesome, much more than expected and it came out so quickly. So kudos to the back kitchen for that! I was very surprised. The only reason for the lack of one star comes down to the bill. So for my crepes: you'd think they'd give you options for a flavor as part of the combo. None the less they didn't, and told me I could add a fruit or what not, but it would be extra. I'm thinking okay, no problem, assuming the upcharge was maybe $1 or so. They charged me $2.50 EACH for strawberries on one and blueberries on the other ($5) for like 2 sliced strawberries and a few blueberries throw on top? That's ridiculous! This was such a delicious experience! The omelette I had was great and filling. The server was fantastic and she did take my request to remove the mushrooms but the cooks did not see/honor the request. She apologized profusely and asked to redo it but I was already mid-omelette and did not think it was necessary. Ordered a sandwich, sweet potato fries are an up charge and ours were overcooked, still edible and we did eat them, would prefer a little less cooked if I order them again. Always great customer service and food is always good. I feel like this place could probably be one of the best breakfast spots in DFW. If they made the decor a little more lively and maybe add some luxury couches to wait, just for looks, I think it'll go a long way, but I have no complaints just a mere observation on making it the busiest in the area. Wait staff is always attentive and that's because they have at least 3 servers in the floor. Usually other locations are lacking in servers and makes it terrible in that department. Food is also pretty good and sizeable. I just feel with treating customers with respect and with great customer service, I will always visit this place. The atmosphere is quite sparse and minimal with mostly just white walls. The prices do seem a little higher than they should be, but then again, its becoming the norm post pandemic. I ordered a turkey and bacon club with a side of fruit and one pancake. My partner ordered the salmon benedict. My club sandwich had a thick, moist cut of turkey, along with a fairly fresh sliced tomato and decently thick bacon. The sandwich lacked ANY type of seasoning or sauce, so I pretty much had to rely on cholula for the much needed moisturizing. The bread was toasted quite well, but without a condiment, it was hard to swallow down everything. My partner enjoyed her salmon benedict, even though the english muffin was a little burnt, so it was hard to cut her knife through it. She said it wasnt a big deal, even though it made every bite a little more difficult. If youre hungover or live really close to this place and dont feel like cooking the basics, then this is an OK place. But if youre expecting something chef driven or special, look elsewhere. I searched for the best mimosa brunch and Toasty came up. I called and expected it wait since it was Mother's Day, they currently did not have one. We were down the street at church so it was convenient to where we were. But sadly, and disappointingly, they did not have mimosas. Can't truly have a proper brunch without a mimosa! I will give them credit for attempting to do something a little bit different with decor but as a designer it really kind of hurt my heart to see it fall so short. I did like the tile selection that they used for the lobby desk and kitchen area. The stuff that is on the walls looks like it's from the dollar store. I know that sounds harsh but it's totally the truth. I think perhaps paring it down and just making more of statements maybe even with an accent wall would make a bolder impact then the clutter that is there currently. They have a very extensive menu with a lot of items to choose from. Pretty good price points. But I did charge $4.50 a glass of juice which seems pretty crazy to me. Waitress was friendly and very attentive. I ordered the whole hog bowl, the hash browns in it we're mushy and I wasn't a big fan of it. My kiddo had a big breakfast so wasn't incredibly hungry so just ordered a side of bacon, she ate one and then said she didn't feel good. I tried the bacon and it wasn't good at all! I don't know if it was the way they cooked it or it was old. The waitress removed it from the bill. As we were sitting at brunch one table had the cartoons blaring for their kids on a phone and the booth behind us the parents were yelling at the kids about their behavior. What a random delight?! Toasty's is on the busy Midway / 635 intersection off a street that gets a lot of traffic. I almost missed it. I haven't had a brunch this good in a long time. They menu is large and overwhelming. I listened to the breakfast recommendations of my waitress. Everything tasted familiar and I tried a few of my favorite comfort foods. They make upgrades simple. For instance, we had combos and it was easy to upgrade to specialty pancakes and French toast. There were no alcoholic drinks or mimosas, but cute drinking glasses. The service was great. Do I need to describe the taste of eggs and bacon? I think we all know what those taste like. Was told the French toast with Nutella was really good. Wasn't able to get ketchup for my hash.......browns, that is! And would've like a larger portion of hash.....browns, that is! But I do love potatoes. Because the restaurant shares a parking lot with a drive thru coffee shop, maneuvering in the lot can be tricky. I was able to get immediately seated, but at the two-person corner booth by the window. Even with the shade down, the bright sunny day made it a very toasty dining experience. The rest of the tables and booths sits either four or six folks. Due to the smaller surface area of my table, the condiment tray took almost half the table. Ordering was almost a chore. Even though I was not speaking through a face mask, I had to repeat the myself a few times when I ordered the multigrain pancakes with sausage patties and maple syrup. Yet, I never got my maple syrup. Its availability was the sole reason I got pancakes. I had to verify the up charge was not on my check. Sadly, I ordered wrong as the pancakes were just okay even with the granola topping. It required most of the syrup to eat them as they were very dry. What saved my breakfast were the sausage patties. We were looking for a nice breakfast spot in Addison /Carrollton yesterday morning and this was suggested. Another hidden gem! It seems that breakfast food is my favorite kind of food . I will say that going in to this restaurant that I knew that I would be ordering a meal with a keto base . I'm currently watching my weight. There was a small wait , but not too bad . This place was packed. I ended up ordering one of the bowls called "The Works" which is mostly meat , cheese , veggies and hash browns, but you can leave the hash browns off for it to be keto friendly . It was so good! They're so dry and chewy that we had to smother them in syrup and use a butter knife to cut them. Unfortunately, neither of us finished our order of pancakes. We asked the waiter about the pancakes when getting bill and was told yes, many people complain and staff don't eat the pancakes either. Was advised to order the crepes or waffles next time.
