Yellowtail , salmon and tamago. Fish was not good but tamago was tasty

Trendy restaurant with a nice vibe. A solo dinner 11/15/25, 6pm, I sat at the bar. Bartender was excellent, perfect service!! Five stars to the waiter. I had chicken karaage, off the happy hour menu, salmon, yellowtail and tamago and a Wasabi roll. Reasonable prices and a fair assortment of choices on the menu. Limited choices in the sushi department, which led to the disappointing food. Fish was not the freshest. Wasabi roll was bland, how can a roll with the name wasabi be bland?? Karaage was worse than McDonalds kid's chicken nuggets. The food was 1 star. I would've complained but dry chicken and mediocre warm fish is not the waiter's fault. The cool decor (4 star), superior service from the bartender (5 star) averaged in with the food (1 star) = my 3 star rating. Maybe their strong suit is hibachi?

All the food we had was very nice nothing special. My group had shrimp, scallops, filet, new york strip (9 oz) gluten free fish of some sort not at our hibachi table, they have kitchen menu and hibachi menu as choices. Service was efficient and professional, our hibachi chef was excellent and went the extra step to be kind and friendly to the 2 and 6 year old's with our party kudos to the chef. Everything was reasonably priced which was a pleasant surprise. Very nice restaurant, one part overlooks the Rowlett side of Lake Ray Hubbard. We were in the Hibachi room which was nice and dark, albeit a bit noisy. Plenty of parking, nicely decorated. Great for any celebration.

I brought the family here for a pre-Easter lunch and I have to say, all eight of us were very impressed! The ambiance here was pretty typical Japanese steakhouse. Not quite as fancy as some you have probably been to, but don't let the looks fool you, what is not typical here is the food and service! Our waitperson Nikki was fantastic. She handled our table like a champ, including the members that had special dietary requirements. Everyone's meal came out perfectly. The food was amazing. I had the Chicken & Shrimp Hibachi. It came with Soup, Salad, Rice and Vegetables. I upgraded to fried rice. I also tried my grandson's filet mignon, and everything was amazing! Even though this is 30 miles from my house, without a doubt this is my new Hibachi restaurant!

I went in to order to go, while I waited for my order i decided to look around and snap a few pics. Driving up to Tokyo Hana you get to see a great view of lake Ray Hubbard next to the restaurant. When you first walk in you are greeted by the hostess, I let them know I wanted to order to go, and I viewed the menu. I ordered the soft shell crab and the sushi bento box. Everything I ordered was delicious and enough for me to share. While I was waiting, I went to the ladies room , they are handicap accessible. The rooms are divided off to make it a good date night by place with a great view of the lake by patio seating or a hibachi bar room.

The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are also phenomenal. Lucas was my server and he was so sweet. He went over the menu with me and answered any questions I had. He even showed me what the hibachi area was! I can't wait to come back! 10/10 will come back again!

Excellent Hibachi. Sushi is good as well. Chefs are fund and friendly, their Manhattan is well made - ask for burbon version.

I started with the garlic edamame, Kani salad, and gyoza. The gyoza are pan fried perfectly! Some places fry them too hard or deep fry them. The kani salad is a mix of shredded cucumber, spicy crab mix with spicy mayo, and roe. I ordered the Angry Dragon roll and the Rockwall roll. The Rockwall roll is sweet with coconut shrimp wrapped, topped with spicy crab mix and coconut sauce. It's delicious! The atmosphere is very nice and intimate. Darker in the dining room with table lamps. You're not looking around the room at everyone, but more focused on just your party. I will definitely be returning to Basil Cafe more often! Can't wait to try more sushi! Thanks again Annika for a great experience!

Overall, the food was solid with a few standout items. The spicy tuna roll was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The ramen was also quite good and comforting. The hibachi steak, however, was a bit of a surprise. The steak was cooked exactly to the temperature I requested, but it (along with the vegetables) arrived slightly cold, which took away from the experience. The fried rice also lacked a bit of seasoning and could have used a little more flavor. While this wasn't a bad dining experience by any means, I'm still on the search for that standout spot in the area that truly checks all the boxes. That said, there are definitely some dishes here worth coming back for.

We had been wanting to try Rumdoul for a while, so it felt like a double treat! Before we even walked through the doors, we were hit with the most incredible aromas coming from the restaurant. It immediately made us excited to eat. Once inside, we were greeted with warm smiles by Leona, who was absolutely adorable and incredibly attentive to everyone dining there. We also had the pleasure of talking with Mr. B, who shared his vision for the restaurant and how he wants it to be different. You can genuinely feel the love, pride, and passion he has poured into this place--not only in the atmosphere but in every bite of food. Following some of his recommendations, we started with the chicken gyoza. They were perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the tofu yellow curry at spice level 4. Let me tell you--it was SPICY! But it was also absolutely delicious. I can't wait to order it again, although there are so many other menu items I want to try too. Jason ordered the chicken Pad Thai. He's extremely picky about noodle texture and thickness, and he devoured every single bite. He ordered spice level 3, which was almost too much for him, but that didn't stop him from cleaning his plate! Of course, we had to finish with the mango sticky rice, which was my favorite part of the meal. I poured every drop of that sweet coconut sauce over the rice and mango, and there wasn't a trace left on the plate. We even used the extra sauce from the gyoza in our dishes because everything was just that good. There's a reason Rumdoul is sitting close to a 5-star rating. The food is incredible, the service is wonderful, and the passion behind the restaurant shines through in every detail. We will absolutely be back--and as soon as our little man arrives, we'll be adding sushi to our order too! Giving Rumdoul 5's with zero hesitation.

On one visit, the edamame tasted like soap, which made it inedible. However, one thing has consistently bothered me. Every time I pick up my order, the manager comments on or complains that I ordered through DoorDash. As a customer, that makes me feel uncomfortable. Instead of feeling appreciated for supporting the business, I leave feeling guilty for how I chose to place my order. I understand that third-party delivery services charge restaurants fees, but that's an issue between the restaurant and the delivery platform--not the customer. Customers shouldn't be made to feel bad for using a service that the restaurant chooses to offer. Unfortunately, because of these repeated experiences, I've decided to take my business elsewhere.
