The service here was horrible. Our server named Alexia was super rude. She seemed to rush us too order and when my husband asked for a cold glass for his beer so he could drink she never brought one. Then when she came back 10 minutes later my husband asked again and still never got one. We had to ask another server to get a glass for us. That's not what upset us though, we can deal with horrible and rude service. It's when the bill came out and it was way overpriced. We added up our meals on the bill and the waitress added well over 90 bucks to the meal. We told a different server at this point about it and he checked for us. We waited for 10 mins for the bill to come back, our waitress fast walked past our table and through the bill on the table at my husband and walked away. She didn't speak one word to us or even apologize, nothing. The bill went from 210 to 114. That's a quite big mess up. Overall wouldn't come here again, not after that horrible service. read more

In Ridgecrest this is a good place to roll in for a nice meal with your buddies or family. We bellied up to the Bennihana grill and chatted with the neighbors until the table was full and our chef started cooking. I guess you are expected to skip the sushi side of the business if you do the grill thing but that didnt work for me. I flagged down a server and ordered a few rolls and other assorted fish-like items and had a really nice appetizer. The service was good, no complaints here. There are friendly waitress who made sure my water was always full, they alway wore a smile and sort of bowed after they said something to me, it was kinda funny. The price was ok and the rolls were totally disappointing. Salmon skin hand roll - just rice and a lot of fried salmon skin wrapped in seaweed. The skin had a funky bitter taste to it, not a fishy taste but sour/bitter. This one of my favorite rolls else where but this one tasted kinda funny. Baked spicy lobster over rice - wheres the lobster? had i known lobster meant tiny frozen shrimp (smaller than the size of a dime) and bits of crab (i think), i would have ordered something else. On top of the shrimp was some mix of soy sauce and mayonese and chile oil that they bake until its sizzling. there was more mayo than shrimp and the rice underneath was drenched in oil. Baked spicy salmon roll - crabmeat roll with salmon on top slathered again with too much mayo. I had to scrap off the oily residue of baked mayo to eat the thing. I wish there was more toothiness to the roll, like some cucumber but there isnt, just smooshy and oily. Alaska roll - tempura lobster roll with avocado wrapped on the outside and another tempure lobster on top, then slathered with more mayo...serious? do you put this on everything? Sorry to everyone else who seems to love this place, but i would not come back. The Teppanyaki looked pretty lousy too, I can cook better food at home. read more

Best place for an entertaining and tasty dinner. Eating at the grill is always fun, the chefs put on quite a show! And the food is always fantastic. Seafood, chicken and my fave the beef, all great. Everything is fresh, the service very good. Full bar, when I was there last. Drinks were good too. The sushi bar is also good, fun to interact and watch them make it. Highly recommends, maybe call ahead if large party, or if it's a holiday/special event weekend as they can get busy. Easy to find, on the corner, and plenty if parking. read more

Chef is very personable and will make you little concoctions of his own design if you are game. wait staff is helpful and quickly fill your drinks without being annoying. Fun Bennihana style restaurant. Went there for a date night and ordered both sushi and a hibachi meal. I had a spicy salmon handroll and a tempura spicy tuna roll. They were both very good and the heat was just enough for you to know it was there but not too much to take away from the flavor. My wife ordered the pineapple chicken and fried rice. It was very good and I would recommend it to anyone. The chef was very entertaining and made a special effort to cater to a 7 year old sitting at our grill which I appreciated since I have kids. It's a little pricy but no more than you would pay at any comparable bennihana style. Great find if you're in Ridgecrest. read more

My wife and I had dinner in Tokyo House on May 29, 2021. We were disappointed. The big assorted sashimi plate was neither big, nor much assorted: just salmon, tuna, and another fish. Total 15 pieces, but pieces were half the size of usual sashimi, and majority of them there salmon. The halibut entre was so overcooked and glazed with teriyaki sauce that it was dry and had no halibut flavor or softness/flakiness. I couldn't tell it was halibut. This restaurant is very clean - lots of space between seating gives it a really good feel Our hibachi chef was great fun and took the time to make each of us feel special. He was attentive and accommodating. The hibachi meal was pretty good; not the best I've ever had, but good. The lady that typically works the register is an unsmiling and almost intimidating woman, but it has never affected the food so I figure it's just the way she is. A couple times a month I get an order of shrimp fried rice carry out from here and it's absolutely the best fried rice I've ever had. read more

it had been a few months since I tried the teppan. I wasn't disappointed in the taste. They delivery was different than usual. Of course salad and fried rice followed by all the tofu. Once the tofu was gone, I was served the vegetables and last the bean sprouts. Each item was cooked and served separately with time to eat in between. My family and I took my oldest daughter out for her birthday dinner there tonight. It was very hot in the restaurant, to the point of being unpleasant! The service was extremely slow. Two of our sushi rolls didn't even come with washi and ginger. When we added to our order, that took even longer than getting our original order. The whole experience was not good. We didn't even bother telling our server that it was our daughter's birthday because the service was so slow. My daughter enjoyed her dinner because it's what she had picked for her birthday. This is the best place in town hands down all I have to say) This review is based more on my last (and final trip) here. Honestly, sushi is alright here compared to the rest of the state, but in this podunk town, there isn't really any other options. We ordered a bunch of rolls between the three of us. Meal went alright besides taking forever to receive our food. When we did, we felt like we got more than we ordered, but since we ordered quite a few, we rolled with it. Come to get our check, the waiter tells us They accidentally delivered a roll for another table to us and they were going to charge us. Why are we just finding this out when it's time to leave and not the other numerous times you came by? We complained and they still added the extra roll we didn't ask for to our bill. Seriously what kind of restaurant would ask their wait staff to go to a customers table and do that? Unfortunately if you live in this insufferable place it's the only tolerable sushi around. I won't go back as I will take my opportunities to get my sushi fix when I go out of town, but if you don't have that option, be prepared. read more

The sushi is excellent here. I have to say the I was not expecting a sushi joint in RC to have anything close to the costal offerings. For this fish to be this fresh with near perfect marbling and not a single slightly dry, improperly stored, or improperly cut piece is a triumph this far into the desert. Try the Toro it is excellent. Try everything but try to go through every 2 piece sushi order and you will not be disappointed. This may take a few trips if your a Nancy but your palate and stomach will thank you. read more

This place is not Benihana; however it is the closest thing in this town. The chefs are talented, and the food is good. The ambiance could use a lot of help, but ultimately your focus is on the chef during the meal. They have a decent bar, and also serve sushi. I am not a sushi fan, so I can't give any feedback on that. If you have never dined at a Japanese steakhouse, be aware that you will likely be seated with strangers, unless you have a group large enough to fill all seats. That can be awkward for some people if you aren't expecting it. You can also call ahead and order food to-go, which is great if you just want to walk out with something quick. In my opinion the servings are kind of large, and if you get a combo such as steak/shrimp etc you could make a second meal of it the next day. read more

Surprisingly good! My boyfriend and I have been trying different restaurants here in ridgecrest and it's been exceptionally hard finding one we enjoy. Tokyo House was very tasty! I ordered the tofu dinner and my boyfriend got the soba noodles. Both dinners came with soup, salad, veggies and rice. My tofu was delicious and crispy! I have to keep in mind I'm in Ridgecrest, so after eating at a lot of different Japanese restaurants around the country the food is what I would expect. The biggest problem was the place was dirty and our grill was filthy. There was food still stuck to the grill from the previous dinner, then the dump tray still had food in it. The thing that bothered me the most was it looked dried out like it had been there a while. Take pride in at least being clean. read more

Excellent sushi. A fine entertainment at the tables from the outstanding food artists. It's a great experience of super fresh, most delicious, clean, healthy food! 6 star food. I will add, though, that it was the fabulous sushi and the "benihana/yan can cook" show that turned me into a raving fan. The senior lady at the entrance had an attitude so offensive that I was ready to leave immediately but my companions were less sensitive to her rudeness and we did stay to eat.
