We selected the following: * Salmon Poke Bowl: $13.85 * Chicken Spring Rolls: $6.15 * Pot Stickers: $5.45 Unfortunately, I walked away completely unimpressed with my Poke bowl. I thought the rice was dry, the cucumbers and mango sparse, and the modest and also sparse diced salmon portion was mediocre. I've enjoyed many excellent salmon Poke Bowls, but this wasn't one of them. The spring rolls are raw vegetables, and my co-diner didn't like these. The potstickers however, were tasty. I just had to take the time to write a review because it was THAT good. I knew it was going to be a bit pricey, but I had a lot of add-ons. It was $25 total, but it will be at least 2 meals. The protein and fruits (description in picture) were so fresh and they were so generous in serving size, see pic! The dressings were delicious and from how it looked/tasted might be made in house? Costs have gone up and quality has gone down. You can get a sushi role for nearly the same price at a sushi restaurant except the sushi rolls you get at Tokyo Joes are terribly rolled and fall apart every time. They have reduce their menu to only spicy tune for actual fish, before you could get Salmon rolls. I paid extra for add on veggies on my teriyaki chicken bowl and did not get what I paid for. I get times are tough and we're all struggling but there is no excuse when you pay the same amount if not more than sushi restaurant. Do better. read more

I'm not sure what the reasons are behind the 3 star rating, but I just tried the General Joes soup and they hit it out of the park. I paired the soup with chicken spring roles that were LOADED with carrots, avocado, cucumber and dipped in a peanut sauce. Oh, did I say that the General Joes soup was coconut curry based with avocado, green onion, a 6 minute boiled egg, rice and Black Sea salt. Ordered dinner through Uber Eats; a couple of rolls and also edamame. The food was very fresh, tasty and even the edamame was warm although it spent 20' in a car. The packaging, unlike most delivery orders, was very good, very organized in a small plastic bag. So good that I thought my drink was forgotten and was ready to call the store; it was neatly packed and at the bottom of the bag. Lots of napkins and chopsticks were included, nice gesture when many places forget them. Pricing was reasonable, $8 for an 8-piece spicy tuna roll, not bad. I would order again. read more

I've been a Tokyo Joes fanatic for years. When I moved to Chicago, it was one of the things I missed most about Colorado. The food is fast and delicious. The food doesn't weight down on my stomach -- instead it's energizing and filling. For the price and location, I think it's a fabulous meal and I'll always be a Joe's enthusiast. For this location specifically, it's my usual spot. They are quick, great service and always take care of me. I can order over the phone and they have it ready sooner than estimated -- love that. This location is horrible on several levels. Let me get right to the point(s): 1. My wife's has several bites of crunchy, dried out rice. It was clear to see this was chunks of rice which had been smashed in the lid of the rice cooker several hours prior and then ended up in the steak bowl she ordered. Unfortunately, she didn't see them until she bit into one and damn near cracked a crown. 2. I ordered udon noodles, for the first time, instead of rice, big mistake. While I can understand some liquid being retained by the Noodles, my chicken and veggies were swimming in liquid. I went to the counter to ask for a bowl so I could drain the liquid and inquire as to whether or not it was normal for that much liquid to be retained with udon. The employee replied by saying, "Well, you never really know. It really depends on how well the kitchen drains them." Let me be clear on this...CONSISTENCY is what makes or breaks a restaurant, even a franchise. The fact I practically had a soup, and the fact the staff couldn't even ask if they could do something to make my order right tells me all I need to know about how this place is managed. 3. My daughter ordered a cookie with her lunch and it was inedible. The entire thing had burnt edges and portions of it were so hard I was able to literally pound it on a metal table and it wouldn't break. Again, not a single staff person would offer to do anything about it, claiming, "Well, the middle looks alright. Sometimes the oven just over cooks the edges. They're all like that." So, I was really excited that the Oyako Bowl was coming back. I visit Colorado occasionally, so I made sure to stop by on my drive back to Vegas. I ordered it: Oyako bowl with dark meat chicken and tofu with white rice, and instead of the sweet onions and green onions, I substituted to broccoli and spinach. I also ordered sauce both inside and extra on the side. During my drive, I began to eat my meal. First off, they forgot the side sauce. And, a few bites into it, I started chewing on something crunchy and brittle. Nothing that I ordered should be crunchy, so the only thing I could think of is that there were egg shells from the egg part of my bowl. So, I won't be eating the rest of this... While the food and missing sauce was disappointing, the service when ordering was good, as usual. Very attentive and nice. She repeated my order back to me, including the extra sauce part. Anyway, I was looking forward to this meal during my 11-hour drive, but I'll have to find something else now. Not sure if I'll order it again, which is frustrating because it used to be my favorite. Today, the flavor was lacking entirely, especially without the extra sauce, and I don't know if there was an eggshell or something else in it. We're regulars who appreciate the relatively quiet and pleasant environment maintained at this TJ location. As other have said, the crew is polite and quick, and gets our orders right, taking care to maintain freshness. The restaurant also seems a bit cleaner overall and more orderly these days than on earlier visits a year or more go. I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because I notice what seems to be a reduction in meal size during recent visits, at least for the meals we usually order, the Ichigo salad and hot bowls, by about half the rice and lettuce amounts, but possibly veggies too and garnishes. The proteins are consistently correct, pre-determined amounts. Maybe it's just a temporary glitch. Will update in a while. read more

This May be one of the most consistently disappointing Tokyo Joes locations in the state. I used to be a die hard Tokyo Joes fan. I've had 4 orders in a row, with different ingredients, be so repulsive that i physically couldn't stomach the taste. Today i ordered a combo bowl. The steak was chewy, dry, over cooked. The chicken was bland, not grilled, seems boiled with the worst after taste I've ever tasted from chicken. They sent me a small bowl even though i paid for a regular. Please make the chefs taste their food before sending it out. It is absolutely awful and is tarnishing the brand. read more

So sorry, I absolutely disagree with these other not so good reviews. This Tokyo Joe's has been a life saver for our family here in Highlands Ranch. We've been here over 15 years...before they showed up, but hey, they deserve kudos for being one of the first fast, but not icky food places here, that kids even like. The bowls are great. You can modify them how you want (eg. rice, noodles, etc.) and even add steamed vegetables to any of them (great healthy option here). Are you kidding me? If you are looking for a fancy, sit down authentic Japanese restaurant, this place is obviously not it. This restaurant is here for it's own purpose--great, tasty, healthy options, quick food in a fun, casual environment where your kids can be kids while your whole family enjoys the food. I have always enjoyed Tokyo Joes, fairly healthy and typically B + food. The last few times I've gone it's gone down hill. When we ate there this evening my son couldn't swallow the steak as it was chewy, I had dry salmon, no vegetables and a hair in my food. We won't be back. read more

I was craving healthy fast food....so despite some negative reviews, I decided to give this place a try. It really wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. In San Diego there was a fast food Japanese restaurant chain called San Sai. I was expecting something like that, but Tokyo Joe's wasn't even close. I was hoping to get some inexpensive sushi. The sushi menu was really small. I tried three rolls. They all were lacking freshness. The rice was dry and the ingredients had no flavor. The size of the sushi menu should have been an indication that this isn't what they specialize in. I think most people eat the rice bowls. That menu has a lot of options, and interesting combinations. I had a bowl with peanut sauce that was very tasty. I would suggest avoiding the sushi at this place. Just stick with the rice and noodle bowls. And...don't make a special trip. As a side note: I found it interesting that they had a stand on every table displaying the salaries for every position in the restaurant. read more

The reviewers who described this location as some kind of run-down, post-apocalyptic fish abattoir are, to say the least, prone to the exaggeration that internet anonymity can afford. That said, while the sterility of Tokyo Joe's and accusations that it's hygiene is imperiling the neighborhood children are ridiculous, the food is much less than the value printed on the menu. For example, the Oyakodon at nearly $10 is a moderately sized bowl (I'm 6'2") of noodles with a pretty stingy collection of chicken, scallions and other vegetables mixed. The flavor is bland, and compared to any other oyakodon, from Japan or from Colorado, it is wildly overpriced and under-flavored. The staff, very friendly and upbeat besides being at the end of their shift, indulged me with a sample of the ramen broth. Frankly, it is an offense. The subtle art of ramen has evolved into its own culinary tradition in Japan. I can forgive a certain dilution of this rich and delicious food as it crosses the Pacific and hauls overland all the way to Colorado. But this isn't a dilution of flavor. This is a thorough character defamation of ramen. Basically, they've made a Campbell's chicke broth and threw some ramen ingredients in there, and nothing can be further from the rich, complex and filling ramen you'll find in the Japanese archipelago. For that I can not see myself returning to any Tokyo Joe's. The Oyakodon disappoints, and the ramen broth offends. On the plus side, I had a bite of the Spring Roll a friend had, and it was pretty good, though pricey for what it was. Tokyo Joe's sports a tasteful decor and was plenty clean for my tastes, but where the table shines the food is dull. read more
