Came out to celebrate my son's 10th birthday and it was super delicious as always. Tokyo Wako in DTLB is awesome. The service and atmosphere make the meal that much better. I highly recommend trying it out for yourself to experience the food.

We've been here a few times with family for their Hibachi dinners. Today, my husband and I had a Monday day date in Long Beach. We were walking around. The pier stopped in for some refreshing drinks and appetizer. They're outside patio area had a great ambience soothing music right by the water. Service was great. Made us feel welcome and comfortable. Can't wait to come back.

Great appetizers, even better main course. You can add what you like and create your own flavor. AMAZING STAFF. Great cooks. I try to come her at a minimum of every two months. It would be 1 time a week if I lived in LB.

Me and my family have been coming here for years we like it, my wife she doesn't really care for Benihana. She prefers this place. The show the food the presentation everything is top-notch and the view of the ocean is even better. You can't beat it. I highly recommend this place.

The food is good and the service was great. I recommend making reservations since it is a busy location. There is plenty of convenient garage parking.

We came to this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday right when they opened, around noon. We were the third table seated for Teppanyaki and were really looking forward to it since it was a small family gathering and a bit of a special occasion. A few of us hadn't been to a Teppanyaki dinner in a long time, and one family member had never experienced it before, so we were excited to share that with them and enjoy the classic tableside cooking show. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty disappointing. The chef who cooked for us seemed uninterested and barely engaged with the table. There was almost no entertainment or showmanship -- he said "volcano" once, did a very minimal onion volcano, and that was basically the extent of the performance. It felt rushed and lacking in energy. I started to get the sense it might be that kind of experience because none of the other tables around us seemed to be having much of a show either. On top of that, the overall service and attention to detail were lacking. After finishing our soups and salads, our empty plates sat in front of us for nearly 20 minutes before anyone came to clear them, which made things feel a bit neglected. The food itself was fine but didn't make up for the dull atmosphere and lack of interaction. For a place that's supposed to be lively and fun, the whole meal just felt flat. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a real Teppanyaki experience -- it just didn't have the energy, entertainment, or service that make this type of dining special.

Had a 40th celebration last night and we had a ball.. our cook Edgar was funny and we all loved him. Everything was good and cook to our liking the only thing was the drinks wasn't too good. Seemed water down and not strong at all especially when I order a Cadillac margarita, it wasn't to my liking. The place is beautiful as always and the staff is friendly and very attentive

I came on a weekday evening with a friend, wasn't too crowded. Tables, booths, and plenty of bar seating available. Some drinks sounded really good. The hostess was very kind and patient. We ordered to go then waited at the bar. The place is cute inside and dimly lit. Our food came fairly quick. Prices weren't outrageous. We got garlic edamame, that was delicious. I tried an Alaskan roll for the first time and it was actually pretty good. I should've got some eel sauce or teriyaki on the side though. Serving size was nice. My friend got shrimp fried rice. She said it was good but was disappointed about the amount of shrimp and felt like it wasn't really worth it. She also ordered a California roll, which was decent, and a spicy tuna hand roll that she hardly touched. Cute for a casual night out. I would return.

    Wako Wako Special

Highly Underrated hidden gem / food was cooked to perfection - so much flavor and exactly medium rare/ well done how we ordered. We got the WAKO WAKO specials with the emperor steak and jumbo shrimp (with the additional $5 chicken fried rice). Let me just say you get a lot of food too - easily can take half to go for lunch the next day. Our server DODO / a blonde sweet lady was great- always pre bussing and quick with refills. It was my partner's birthday - they brought him out a little icecream that was delish. Overall, great service, great energy from the chef, great flavors, and great portions. Love this spot - my mai Thai was yummy and strong - perfect balance of sweetness & liquor.

Hot tea and beer, the best of two worlds.

How is parking in a friday night?

Not bad at all there is a parking garage not to far from the restaurant and plenty of spaces available. Don't forget to get your parking Validated from Tokyo Wako.

Are they open right now for take out for their teppan menu?

Die hard benihana fan so I wanna know your thoughts on what's better?, The diff between the two? I love the ginger sauce, diablo sauce, fried rice and garlic butter at Benihana, am I going to find this or something similar like this at Tokyo Wako?

I actually like it better. The seating is more spacious as I do not bump elbows with the person at the table behind me. The food is actually better to me personally.

I wasn't sure what to expect and if this was a going to be a fusion with Mexican flavors. It wasn't. It was typical Hibachi without the show. I ordered The Delux which was steak, chicken, shrimp with rice and veggies. This entree comes with 3 shrimps so I ordered a side of 3 more to share with my husband. The food smelled delicious and tasted so good too. I thought the chicken and beef was a little over done. I ordered the beef Medium but it came out Well Done and the chicken was slightly tough. I think if the meat was a little more tender and juicier, I would have given them 5 stars. The shrimp, rice, and veggies were delicious and flavorful. Shrimp was plump and juicy. Generous amounts of beef, chicken, and rice. Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was plenty for 2 people to share. Came here around 6pm and there was no one at the restaurant but the parking lot was full from other restaurants that share the same parking space. Ordered my food to go but the person at the counter was friendly and asked if I needed more sauce.

It was no one in the lot when we arrived and Byron was completing someone's order. He told us a moment as he wrapped up. Byron gave solid energy and was ready to help with any questions. Straightforward order, I ordered premium filet and chicken, my mom got a side of fried rice and an order of garlic noodles. The wait he said was about 20 mins. Perhaps because we were the first to order before a gang of people pulled up, but the food was done in 19 mins and by the weight of the food in the bag I was surprised. Essentially, the food was a great choice due to taste and portion size, and accessibility. I ended up crashing my entire plate. My mom still had leftovers. If I could give a critique, at the bottom of the veggies was a lot of liquid--I would guess that it was due to the condensation created in the container (that would be something you cant really control). My mother had the same comment for her noodles but she mentioned they were saucy so maybe thats just how they are prepared, and she thought it would have more garlic emphasis. Otherwise we were satisfied and will be ordering from here again. Rice 4 Noodles 3 Premium plate 4.5 Total: 3.8

If my experience ended there, this would have easily been a five star visit. Unfortunately things went downhill. We've received a writer who had the most nonchalant cold demeanor I've encountered by White staff in a long time. I feel like he would be a better fit at a more high-end pretentious restaurant. He definitely didn't make me feel comfortable or valued. The food was good but not impressive, I'm afraid. It didn't taste authentic or unique. We ordered the ceviche, Miso caramelized mahi-mahi, and yakiniku calamari. The ladder was easily the best dish of the bunch, but it also reminds me of orange chicken squid. I love the flavor and the texture though! I plan to return for happy hour to see if I can appreciate the food more when I don't have to pay full price. I think the food is a Todd overprice for the quality they offer. We'll report back after my second visit.
