The steak was cooked good and seasoned as well as the shrimp, rice just average and veggie are just veggies. This is just a take and go spot IMO. They have some outside seats but none inside. Was craving hibachi and got this delivered since they had a 2 for one deal for the chicken bowl. I've never had hibachi delivered and won't be doing it again. We opted in for the chicken fried rice which they did not make. We ordered 4 yum yum sauces and they were out!! Hibachi without yum yum sauce is a criminal offense. To top it off, we ordered garlic butter and that too was missing. Now for the food; it was just OKAY. The chicken was cooked very well but the veggies (zucchini, onions and carrots) were all undercooked. The garlic noodles were cooked very well and I loved the texture; but there was no flavor. I hate writing this because I once called this place the best hibachi around. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit, that title no longer applies. The quality has gone downhill significantly, now in food quality. Prior it was more so operations and management. The biggest issue was their Instagram $20 combo deal. The catch, which was not clearly communicated upfront, is that you must pay in cash or via Zelle. If you use a card, the price jumps back to full menu pricing. Our total went from $61 to $85 simply because we did not have cash on us. We only came for the deal, so being forced into Zelle on the spot felt extremely sketchy and borderline scammy. If a deal requires a specific payment method, that needs to be clearly stated before customers arrive. The food itself was disappointing. It was bland and lacked flavor, which is sad because this place used to be known for bold, well seasoned hibachi. I also asked for no zucchini on 2 out of the 3 bowels yet all 3 were missing it. I explicitly stated when I wanted zucchini & when I didn't. Between the payment situation & declining food quality this place has officially lost me as a customer. I will not be returning. Came here a couple of years ago for lunch with a buddy from work. I remember the food being pretty good back then so when it came up as an option for lunch that day I went with it. The place was clean and the decor is great. We got there at about ten minutes before eleven when they open. Walked in and looked up at the menu and was a tad bit shocked on some of the prices forty dollars for a stake lunch special um ok let's see what else they have. So my buddy I was with saw that they were running a two for thirty dollar chicken bowl deal so we went with that we got to the table and the guy I was with asked about the drink cups and he was told that the two bowl deal only come with one so just keep that in mind. It was $5 the amount given wasn't worth $5. The sauce was okay. The ginger sauce that they provide is okay. My food was very basic didn't seem like it had much of a garlic butter taste. Forget Benihana, Mexihanas is where it's at! I had a Fivestars reward for a $10 bowl at Mexihanas Hibachi Grill in Long Beach. Since Mexihanas has two locations in Long Beach, I had to be really careful and make sure of the location. The other Mexihanas is on Palo Verde right off the 405 freeway. This Mexihanas is on the southeast corner of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Martin Luther King (MLK). Parking isn't too spacious, but I got really lucky because when I came at about 2 PM, it was mostly empty. A couple of customers came in to pick up their orders, though it took a little while, probably because they were chatting with an employee there. There is minimal space inside. So minimal that during COVID-19, I'm certain only one customer would have been allowed inside, so definitely don't plan on dining there unless you're willing to dine at one of the very few tables outside. I told the employee that I had the Fivestars reward, and I saw the SumUp tablet at the front counter. However, it was off, and I wasn't sure why. I think the employee mentioned it was down, so he needed to restart it, but he was willing to honor the Fivestars reward for me after seeing it on my phone. All I needed to do was tell him my choice of protein: chicken, steak, or shrimp. Shrimp always! lol but if I wasn't trying to avoid red meat, I likely would have gone for steak instead. It took about 5 minutes before he handed me my order, but they were a pretty long 5 minutes since a couple other customers came inside and chatted with the employee while placing their orders. During their conversation, I heard the employee throw an f-bomb, affirming to me that this wouldn't be a family-friendly place, or at least a place I'd recommend to bring your kid(s) to while you pick up food. After checking in on Yelp, I noticed a check-in offer for a Free Jarritos soda*. I showed it to the employee, and he honored it without question. All I needed to do was tell him my choice of flavor. I saw mostly orange inside the cooler of Jarritos, but asked him what the other flavors were. After he recited the other flavors, I went with strawberry. He got it for me no hassle. His demeanor was more laid back, so I'm glad he was pretty chill about honoring the offers I showed him on my phone, but I wish his behavior would have been more appropriate for a parent looking to reward his/her child with delicious fusion food. After receiving my order in a plastic bag with the words "MUCHAS GRACIAS" splattered on the side, I took the bag back to my car to eat. I saw a small takeout box as well as two sauces, one of which resembled Chipotle Mayo. Don't let the size of the box fool you because it was chock full of fried rice, grilled vegetables, and shrimp! And it was real good I tell you! I savored every bite and morsel of their food in my car. And that's even without the sauces, which I was a big fan of! Those sauces really elevated the taste to a whole another level! I would have given 5 stars, but hearing an f-bomb from an employee is grounds enough for an automatic 1-star deduction. I'd still love to return to try something else, but I rarely visit this part of town. I'm more likely to be closer to the other location, but I'm not actually sure the other location participates in Fivestars. If they do, I'd love to try the other location and see how it compares. If you live closer to this location and are deciding between Mexican and Japanese for dinner, this Mexihanas will certainly help you decide! lol * I must caution the reader of a sign that says you can get a free Jarritos by writing a Yelp review. They make it a point to bring high-quality meat, hibachi-style, in the hood, for affordable prices and they're accomplishing just that! For my first visit, I had to get the #1, Tha LBC, which includes Angus steak, lobster tail, chicken breast, shrimp, sautéed veggies, garlic noodles, and fried rice for $36! This is meant for 2 people and fiancé and I couldn't even finish it! This was also a better deal than the hibachi grill food truck that posts up on Ocean & Pine. The steak and chicken were tender. The lobster and shrimp were succulent. The garlic noodles could have used a little more garlic, but I always call for a ton of garlic. The fried rice was evenly sautéed with diced veggies, soy sauce and a hint of pepper. The seasoning was spot-on and nothing was overly cooked, salty or greasy. If someone brought this order to me, I would've guessed it came straight from Benihana with the precise cuts, perfectly cooked meat and shellfish as well as the familiar soy sauce, butter and pepper mixed throughout. They even include ginger sauce, much like Benihana's. Want it spicy? They also throw in Sriracha. I thought there would have been a little more of a Mexican twist, but I guess it's the fact that Mexicans are running it. I have worked at many Japanese restaurants and there were always Mexicans making excellent Japanese food right beside Japanese chefs. This is my honest review . Me and my wife frequently visit benihanas and when we found out there was a mexihana 5 min away from our house we were excited . We ordered the $40 plate for 2 that brings a lil bit of everything . (Chicken steak shrimp lobster noodles fried rice veggies) Now the value is there and it can feed 2 but quality isn't there compared to some of those other places . Chicken was dry and it stated we got one lobster tail with our order along with veggies . We got no veggies and half a tail. I would honestly skip out on the rest of the menu and go with there $10 bowls (best value) This review isn't to bring this restaurant down what so ever but to inform the public on a choice. For value this restaurants has everything you want and easily beats all of those other places. Quality and flavor is a bit above mid level. It will be a place I will return whenever I'm in the mood but don't want to dish out $80 for teppan yaki. My total bill was $52 with added sauces and fried rice I would recommend this restaurant to anyone My reason for a 3 star was because of the lobster tail and veggies . Mexihanas... Where do I even start? I've been coming here for a few years and let me tell you this place is amazing. Hibachi-Mexican fusion at its finest. My go-to is the #3 Classic combo which comes with angus steak, chicken breast, mixed veggies and fried rice. I usually opt for extra fried rice instead of mixed veggies and sometimes if i'm really hungry an extra side of angus steak which they will add onto your combo plate. Prices are reasonable considering they use premium steak meat which I don't mind paying the extra cost for. The service is fast and accommodating and I have no complaints as far that. They accept phone orders and I would even order via doordash when I worked at my old job. The owner is a friendly local who I wholeheartedly support and is active in giving back to his community. True meaning of not forgetting where you came from. The atmosphere as far as this location (MLK across the street from Poly High) is I would say mostly take out but they have a few tables outside on the store front. I did not like the garlic noodle it was about $12 for a small portion and it had no flavor of garlic, flavorless. Tasted like plain noodles that was stir fried on a grill. I paid a bit extra to get garlic noodles too. All of it was so tasty! The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking, the chicken breast was too.
