If you're looking for your prototypical diner, you've found it here at Tom Sawyer Diner. You won't find anything fancy or out of the ordinary, but what you will find are your everyday diner favorites, including all day breakfast. We dropped in on a random (but beautiful) Thursday late morning at around 11:20am. There were a few customers inside, as expected, whom were mostly elderly and were probably regulars. I was in the mood for a late breakfast, so I ordered the Italian Omelette with Home Fries and Toast, while my better half got the Aloha Burger and upgraded her fries to the Disco Fries. Food was OK and pretty average, which isn't a bad thing at all. Can't say it was any different than any other diner I've been to (UNLESS it's Tops Diner). The omelette was good, consisted of 3 eggs, pieces of sausage, cheese and marinara on top. I tried it because it stated that it was "NEW" on the menu, but it could have been there for months or even years. My wife's Aloha Burger WAS verrrry, verrrry juicy though. Every time she took a bite, it was dripping beef "juices" - even though it seemed to be cooked medium well instead of the medium she requested. The Disco Fries could have used more gravy, but was still solid. Service was quick and good as the waitress came by to check on us a few times. Like I said, this diner is not going to stand out much from other diners, but it's not a bad thing if you're just looking for some good ol' diner food.

My husband and I tried Tom Sawyer Diner for the first time last week. We stopped in after work for dinner. There were a good number of diners seated at the booths for the work week. The host and our waiter were very friendly. I ordered a blue cheese burger that comes with fries, pickles, and coleslaw. I was a fan. It's the type of burger that you have to cut because it's so tall; there's a steak knife holding it together. My husband got a veggie panini; he said it was ok. He was more of a fan of the spinach and artichoke dip that we ordered as an app to share. We both agreed that we liked the vibe inside of Tom Sawyer. It feels like a real diner - it's warm and cozy. When you walk in, you'll see Valentine's decorations already up. Also, the framed pictures leaning into the whole Tom Saywer theme were cute. We like the place and we'll most likely return in the future for a casual meal. So recommended!

I saw some of the recent reviews and was a little apprehensive about coming here, but my experience seem to be different than the rest. Here are some of the positives: The waiter was very helpful and available for all of our needs. The food came out very quick and was delicious. I ordered a honey Dijon wrap and made some changes. All of my requests were honored. The menu is pretty typical of what you would see in a diner. There are plenty of good selections, and although the prices are a tad bit high, that seems to be the going rate for diners these days. And some of the negatives: Parking is very limited. We came on a Friday afternoon and there were no spots available. I was able to create my own by parking against the building. And if the lot is full, there's no street parking. The bathroom was clean, but did not have any paper towels only an air blower that isn't very powerful. When I walked out, I needed napkins to dry my hands. Overall, the experience was mostly good. If I was in the area, I would likely come here again.

this is a very nice diner, and I recommend coming here. The food is good, nice prices, menu variety is plentiful, and the food comes out quickly. The staff, especially the waitress and manager are nice, and there's a lot of parking

So disappointed in this diner! It used to be good but now that we have a much larger audience with the new hospital going in we seemed to have taken the cheap way out and hired chefs that don't love what they do. I ordered ranchero breakfast wrap ...my favorite! Unfortunately I got crunchy eggshells, onion skins, and onion core mixed in with my omelette which turned my stomach , since you can't really chew that up. I ate the shells picked out the onion skins and core and ate what I could. My bf had a long black hair on top of his fruit cup dish and that was the icing on the cake . Otherwise the ambiance is very nice and the service is excellent but I will never eat here again

(Reservations are not that easy to make last minute.) The restaurant is big and open but always busy. Kids get wax craft sticks to play with and bend into cool shapes, which I find very unique and cool. I feel like there is a difference between a diner and a true brunch place. A diner, of which there are numerous in New Jersey, is a establishment that churns out inexpensive, and potentially excellent, but very standard breakfast food - omelettes, pancakes, benedicts and the like. A true brunch place, on the other hand, offers things like lemon ricotta pancakes, cacio e pepe scrambles, mushroom thyme omelettes and shakshuka. Willow & Whisk is that kind of brunch place, and which is rare in New Jersey. The food options are varied, very tasty, and with good portion sizes. I love the shakshuka and the mushroom thyme omelette. Oh gosh, when is our next reservation again?

I asked if I could do 2% milk with my latte at 8am with only 1 other table in the restaurant. Waitress told me it's whole or skim. I asked if she could mix them, half and half. She said it takes too long for the bartenders... I said "there's 2 people here, mind if you make an exception?" To which she followed up with "no, it's a rule." Okay fine... I'll settle for my $7 latte I guess. Following that, I ordered the mushroom thyme omelette, the second bite I took had a full on hard stick from the thyme I almost choked on (not chewy, hard - see pictures). I decided to let it slide, these things happen with fresh herbs. 2 more bites in, another massive stem stick jabbed me. If I had given my daughter either of those bites, it could have been scary. I sent it back. I love their coffee, and the shukshukka (botching the spelling). But for how much you pay, their service is inconsistent and these errors are painful (literally). I'll likely come back for the coffee and vibes but won't be bending over backwards to do brunch here.

I was honestly surprised that at 2pm on a Sunday there was still a wait for just two people--but that usually says something about a place's popularity. Once seated, the restaurant was clean and well-kept, and our server was attentive throughout the meal. The only hiccup was the coffee--it took a bit longer than expected to arrive, which felt extra noticeable since we were craving a caffeine boost post-race. That said, the Marshmallow World cold brew was worth the wait and hit the spot perfectly. Food-wise, no complaints. I ordered The Goat omelet, which paired really nicely with the cold brew. I especially appreciated that they offer gluten-free bread--always a win when places make that effort, and it didn't feel like an afterthought. Parking is plentiful, which is a big plus for this area. Just a heads up: depending on traffic, getting on and off Route 4 can be a little tricky. The only downside? They close at 3pm, so our post-run brunch felt a little rushed--we definitely would've lingered longer if time allowed . A winning post-5k brunch that makes the early miles totally worth it.

We're so glad we did, because this hole in the wall turned out to be a diamond in the rough. With a nondescript exterior and limited signage, Foodies Diner is easy to miss. It's in an area with mainly houses and mixed use commercial buildings, but the space inside is cozy. I especially appreciated the way the owner greeted everyone who enters and thanked everyone who leaves with notable warmth and small-town friendliness. The menu reads like a true diner - with all-day breakfast and brunch options, as well as standard lunch fare. We ordered a Santa Fe salad and an L.A. burger - which comes with avocado, bacon, onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. The burger was pretty standard, but having it delivered on a warm brioche bun feels a little bit special. The accompanying fries were also great - crisp and potatoey on the inside. The salad, on the other hand, was a near triumph. Served on a large platter, there was a small field of well-seasoned chicken, shredded cheddar, vegetables, avocado, pico de gallo, and - best yet - some pieces of warm, toasted pita. I even sprinkled some pieces of bacon from my burger into this salad, and wow did that take it over the top. I dug into this salad with fair gusto and would absolutely come back for it...which is saying something, since I wouldn't expect to fall in love with a salad at a diner. Service was fantastic, and we were pleased with how reasonably priced our meal turned out to be. There's plenty of parking - either right out front or in the lot further back.
