I really like Tomatina at 5245 Prospect Rd, San Jose, CA 95129. I've been coming here for years as I find the service to be excellent and the pasta dishes all fresh made to order using quality ingredients. The sauces really are perfectly paired to each dish. The salmon and garlic rolls is a top favorite with my friends and guests. I also enjoy the lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, salads and the Italian sodas. Honorable mention to their dessert menu. The restaurant is clean and well mantaintained. My usual server, Linda, always provides Superior Service. The luncheon specials are amazing and a great value. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant.

This restaurant has been here for a long time but I've never tried it. My friend and I came in for the lunch special where you get an app and an entre for about $14. I wouldn't go here if you're looking for something different or special, but my Italian piadine (hot flatbread sandwich melt) was warm and had a decent amount of filling. This place is pretty quiet during weekday lunch so we were well looked after by staff.

IMHO My friends and I were the first customers and were greeted as we walked in! We chose a booth. These aren't spacious but comfortable enough. I ordered the calamari appetizer ($15), the luncheon special of Caesar salad and Mama's spaghetti & meatballs ($13.50). My friends ordered the luncheon special of Minestrone soup and Mama's spaghetti & meatballs, and a regular entree of meatballs & bread, with a side of Caesar salad. The calamari was good and came with two dipping sauces. I like tentacles and was happy to see them amidst the rings. My spaghetti was a tad light on the sauce which made it dry, and a little too al dente to the bite. I like my spaghetti to be saucy so I asked our server if I could have a small bowl of more sauce. She happily complied and soon my spaghetti was to my liking. Service was nice and friendly. Where I was sitting, it was cold. I had to put my scarf and coat back on to be comfortable. Will I return? Maybe.

I love this place so much! If you're lucky enough to come on the day the head chef is here, you're in for a treat. I ordered the portobello fettuccini and added sauce... absolutely insane 10/10! I said easy on the sauce and that's what I got, it's simply perfect. Huge pasta! My partner got the Margarita pizza and loved the dough, he said it hit different. Flavorful, crispy and delicious sauce.

This place has the best drinks and food specials for happy hour. I also like how they have different specials each week so there is also something delicious to try! I enjoy their Angry Shrimp and Blood Orange Manhattens... their rolls are sooooo addicting as well. I recommend coming here for a casual, Italian dinner!

I'm not sure why they're rated so low, I love this place! I went with my dad this time, and we got their garlic rolls and their onion foccacia bread. Their garlic rolls are thick and satisfying and soo good. Their foccacia wasn't oniony at all admittedly, but it was still good bread. My dad got their shrimp pomodero and he loved it! He got a bunch of shrimp, they didn't skimp out, and usually seafood pastas don't come with tomato sauce, but this one did and it was actually a little spicy. He loved it! I got their cheese ravioli with creamy pesto, and it was great as always. Excuse the bites taken out of the photos lol. For dessert we got their dessert trio-- the cheesecake was solid, the spumoni was sooo good, and the tiramisu was a bit soggy so it wasn't a favorite but we still enjoyed the experience. Service was a bit slow, but we were having a good time and could have gotten our server faster if we needed to. It's a small cozy place and servers are everywhere so if you ever need help, you can always get someones attention.

This is the BEFORE of fried calamari we were served.

The main reason for writing this review is for the insulting dish we were served called fried calamari. There isn't much difference between the before and after pictures I posted because there wasn't much difference. The pieces of calamari were smaller than the breading. We had to crush the coating between our fingers to actually find pieces of calamari. If this is the best fried calamari they can do, the should take it off their menu. We were insulted with what they served us. Other parts of our meal.....Mediterranean Salad was tasty. Minestrone had the usual vegetables but the broth/sauce tasted only of sweetened canned tomatoes, no garlic,, no onion, no spices. Meatballs were average at best. Pizza dough/crust was very good.

    Detroit style square pizza!

Been going to Tomatina's for 20 years ago. Food and atmosphere has always been great. What I wanna talk about is this seasonal item: Tomatina's Detroit style pizza IS THE BIZNESS! It's a lil shorter in height than what I'm used to eating in terms of Detroit style pizzas but the burnt cheese across the crust is AMAZING! It's crispy and flaky after each bite. Make sure to eat it fresh, don't bring it home (if u do air fry it!) Add this permanently to the menu and I'll definitely be there often!

From the moment we checked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and making a reservation about a month in advance definitely paid off since the restaurant was packed. For starters, we ordered the fried chicken & cornbread and the summer peach salad. The chicken and cornbread were easily a 10/10 super crispy, well seasoned, and the cornbread was rich and buttery. The peach salad with friend goat cheese (YUM!) was really fresh and bright, a nice lighter dish to balance out everything else. I also had a glass of rose. For mains, we had the Prime Ribeye and the 7oz Harris Ranch Prime Filet, both cooked exactly how we asked and full of flavor. We shared a bottle of Duckhorn cab, and I appreciated that their wine list felt reasonably priced for the quality. We corked what we didn't finished and took it home. The only slight downside was our table being in a bit of a funky spot along a walkway, but service was attentive enough that it never really became a problem. Overall, I'd absolutely come back, and next time I'm saving room for dessert.

I walked in, relieved to discover it was a poke spot, and decided to have lunch there. I ordered a bowl with white rice as my base and two proteins: tuna and yellowtail. To my surprise, I could add five toppings, so I went with crab meat, mango, cucumber, edamame, and scallions. I don't recall the exact sauces or sprinkles they put on, but the bowl was enormous--which explained the nearly $30 price tag! I grabbed a seat by the window overlooking the parking lot. The chair was a bit snug, but I didn't mind as I dug into my fresh, flavorful poke bowl. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The staff member helping me was new, shadowed by the manager as he assembled my order, but he did a great job! After another grueling 90-minute Bikram Yoga session, I debated between returning here or grabbing Taco Bell, which was much cheaper and in the same shopping center. Despite the price difference, I chose the healthier option. Since the restaurant was packed and I was eager to get home, I decided to order to go. This time, a young woman helped me build a bowl with half purple rice and half white rice. Purple rice is a highly nutritious whole grain, so I was eager to try it. It had a ougher texture to chew than white or brown rice, but I still enjoyed my lunch. For protein, I chose tuna and spicy tuna. I rattled off a long list of toppings before realizing I'd already hit the five-topping limit. I wished I could swap one of the mangoes out, but instead, I paid the extra $1.25 for an additional topping. The young woman was efficient, and I was out of there in no time. Overall, I'm a fan of this restaurant. I can definitely see myself coming back after future Bikram Yoga sessions in the 'torture chamber.'

Not all the dishes here are five stars, but if you know what you're doing, it's five stars. I prefer the five-spice fried chicken bento box. It seems like they vary a little, the vegetables, depending on what's in season or what they got, but it generally always tastes good. I really like the Taiwanese cabbage. It's flavored well and salty, but not too salty. I would totally skip the pork belly unless you just love eating fat. I find that it is pretty much all fat and very little actual pork meat. The beef brisket stew is a hit or miss. Sometimes it is also too fatty, and once in a while, it is okay. Probably safer to stay away and just go with the five-spice fried chicken. The bento boxes are a better bang for the buck. The other dishes like bowls are much smaller. I also really like the sausage on the side. Yum, Taiwanese sausage. Anyway, highly recommend this place for a quick meal, but you need to know what to get.

I don't want to write about both restaurants on the Flowers page but I think it's worth calling out that the service / hospitality and craftsmanship for both food and drink in both restaurants are standout. For drinks, we ordered the Flowers Old Fashioned and Cantarito. For the Cantarito, I loved the tart passion fruit with the slight carbonation of the grapefruit soda--this was definitely my kind of drink! For food, we shared everything: tuna wonton tacos, prawn cigars, duck with risotto, scallops, and brussel sprouts. This was the perfect amount of food, as we left full and satisfied but not stuffed. The tuna wonton tacos had a good amount of tuna, and had a such a punch of (well-balanced) flavors; I loved the touch of heat. The duck was also incredibly tender with a crispy outside, and I think the natural fattiness / oiliness of the duck paired well with the relatively sharp, Parmesan flavor of the risotto. I also enjoyed the flavors and sauces with the other dishes but those two aforementioned were my favorite. Lastly, the bread pudding for dessert was excellent! It was the perfect size to share, and I loved the various crunchy "garnishes", from the graham cracker crumbs to the caramelized sugar piece and the little chocolate balls. Will definitely come back again to try more of the menu!

My husband ordered the duck and that was a bit disappointing. They hadn't rendered the fat properly so the skin was chewy rather than crisp. The duck was slightly on the tough side. On a very positive note, the wines are market price rather than the large markup you see in most restaurants. The chocolate cake was overly dense. Since it was a birthday celebration they also brought out little chocolate cream filled cups that were delicious. We will definitely return.

Have wanted to try this place for quite some time but now that we're a bit closer, we finally made it in. Located in downtown Saratoga, there is coveted but limited street parking and more parking in the back. We came and sat down right away on a busy Friday night. There are a few booths in the back and we were seated there. The kids enjoyed the fish decor and friendly service. They gave the kids a color sheet menu and crayons. We ordered the crab artichoke dip to start and the halibut fish and chips with an oyster po' boy. My son also ordered his 1st cheeseburger which he shared with his little sis. I got a nice cold IPA and the my son ordered an apple juice but they accidentally gave him a lemonade and quickly replaced with the correct apple juice as well. Food came out hot and delicious! The oyster po'boy was crispy and tasty, I liked the bread but my wife thought it was too dry. The star was the fish and chips with a crispy thick batter but fresh well portioned halibut strips. We all ate the fries and drank our drinks. The cheeseburger was flame broiled and pretty good as well. Would come here again to try the other menu dishes.
