You can get slices, they have a parking lot, and the slices are tasty AF. What else do you need to know? They have a rotating slice menu it seems and I get excited whenever I arrive wondering if they have something new that I have not had. The go to's are The Grandma and Syracuse (Buffalo chicken). This is by far the closet thing you will get to an "east coast pizza". Being from the east coast, finding reliable pizza has been difficult. West coast pizza is straight garbage, but Tomato pie fulfills the void and is actually really good. It's a quality slice. Also, Idk what the heck people are talking about when I see the reviews of the pizza having a "funky dough". The dough is good and tastes better than any other pizza I've had here in LA. Instant regret. The crust on this pizza is absolutely awful. I took me about 10 minutes to get home after pick up and by the time I had my first bite, crust was hard and stale tasting. I work right around the corner from this place, never knew how great it was! Stopped in for lunch, went simple and got one slice of cheese pizza and one slice of pepperoni. It was so delicious! tables are outside and it was such a nice day, service was great. Was going someplace else, but we ended up here. My first time. Wow, they really are taking covid precautions. You know, compliance is the lowest acceptable standard, right? These folks are compliant with covid guidelines, and then some. I love it. From the napkins out front, to use when opening the door, to the ample sanitizer and floor stickers, I like this place. Felt like a nice culture of caring. There is by the slice and custom. Wow, they will do 1/2 and 1/2 of any! I did a small 1/2-1/2. Pesto sort of thing and regular type. My friend got a slice. We were asked to wait outside. I tipped and we stepped out. I noticed they have a nice little outdoor eating spot, awesome. Yet, we are headed to the park. The slice came out quickly. My pizza took a bit. Apparently, actually cooking food, instead of reheating it, takes a few minutes. While waiting, I watched a lot of flour and stuff going in. Huh, they make the dough here even? Certainly nothing like my kitchen! My pizza was walked out and we headed to the park. Food wise, it was good. Service very friendly. Cleanliness, good. Covid stuff, who's amazing! They failed to prepare half my order and therefore half my order was missing when it arrived When I called them, they blamed it on DoorDash and said it was a DoorDash issue And they refused to deliver what I ordered Do not order from this place! Wow I'm amazed! Not a pizza and was never a pizza person ( I'm an alien). But I got to try the Syracuse Style Hot Wings recommended by Caesar and I was blown away. I took a bite ( and mind you I'm a sweet spoken person ;) ) and I wanted to curse! The crust was perfect not too thick or thin nor burnt plus tasty! Ordered for pickup and it was ready within 20 minutes! We got the garlic knots (which are not pictured because they were so good and we ate them so fast!) and the Primo pizza which was amazing! It had pepperoni, mushrooms and jalapeños which are all my favorite toppings. The crust was delicious! It was thin and crispy yet soft and doughy on the inside! You got people in the back cooking up pizzas who actually care about the end result. And the end result is crust so good you leave nothing behind. The right amount of toppings. This review is wayyyyyyyy overdue. I have been going to this location for over 10 years now...wow do I feel old saying that. Enough about my mid life crisis, on to this raving review. COVID Precautions - Pre pandemic, you all know how the drill would work here. Families and friends were seated everywhere with no abandon. Now, outdoor dining is encouraged and they have updated their outdoor seating area, which looks quite modern and nice. There is a sign outside of their front door that provides the guest with instructions and general safety guidelines. Overall, a great system to keep guests safe. Ambiance - They have not changed one bit, and thats a good thing. Very casual set up and thats the way a pizza place should be. Food - Ohhhhhhh man. I have had so many of their original pizzas which are all awesome. My wife is obsessed with the Syracuse Pizza which is just loaded with godly goodness. She has every right to love it that much, its the real deal. I love their classic Tomato Pie style pizza. It is so simple, yet so darn delicious. I love in the SFV, and have no problem making the drive out here. We love it that much. Parking - Standard parking area with a shared local business. When busy, parking can be tight but you might get lucky with some street parking. This establishment is deserving of a 5 star review from yours truly. This review is strictly for delivery. Couldn't tell you what the in store experience is like. What I CAN tell you is that this pizza is FIRE . We ordered the miss Green, Mr.White and a veggie situation and each and everyone of them was great. The pizza arrived hot and crisp. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. History

Established in 2008.

The idea of creating a pizza place for everyone to enjoy started with the inability to find a decent slice of "Pie" on the entire West Coast. Seven years, one-hundred-forty drawings (or so), three years in New York, one-thousand burns, countless experiments with dough and sauce, tons of support from his family, and a big break provided by his partner Rafael Quinonez LATER...and an idea was put into action. Wanting to take the Concept to the next level, the two partners called upon the creative mind (and huge shoulders) of restauranteur Federico Suarez. The three joined forces and brought them to bear on the Melrose restaurant, which soon realized its optimum potential. So, the partners started to think about expansion... In April of 2008, the Silver Lake branch opened its doors...and the response showed a community of diners (much like their counterparts in the Melrose/Fairfax area) grateful for a local business to call their very own.

Since they're open until 10:00 PM, we decided to stop by Masa of Echo Park for our very first visit. We called in advance to go over our options, and the people on the phone both times were fantastic--kind, helpful, and empathetic. They clearly explained the house policy: in-house deep dish orders have a 9:00 PM cutoff. Since we wouldn't make it in time for that, we placed a deep dish order over the phone to go and planned to eat a thin-crust tavern-style pie in the restaurant. For our dine-in pie, we ordered a tavern-style pizza split 1/2 Laguna (mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil) and 1/2 Baxter (pepperoni or veggie pepperoni, ricotta, house hot honey, mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil). We expected the Laguna side to come topped with fresh basil as described on the menu, but as you can see in the photos, we were served what was essentially just a plain 1/2 cheese pie on one side and 1/2 Baxter on the other. When we pointed out to the server that the Laguna half was missing its basil, she insisted it was a Laguna and claimed the Laguna doesn't come with basil. The server was kind enough to bring us a side of fresh basil to add ourselves. After we left, we looked back to the menu description (which explicitly lists mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil). While we appreciated the quick fix of the plentiful of fresh basil she brought us, it was frustrating that neither the kitchen nor the server simply owned up to the oversight. A quick apology and accountability go a long way--it's truly the difference between a 3-star and a 4-star experience, and it's what builds trust with first-time diners. Miscommunication aside, the thin, crisp tavern-style crust was great--it hit with nostalgic vibes like Monty's in Highland Park back in the 1980s. I'd easily come back just to grab a tavern-style pie to go. Strangely, the pizza cooled down surprisingly fast in the dining room. It did not hold the heat well. As for the deep dish, we saved it for breakfast the next morning, and it was delicious. We ordered a small "All Meats" deep dish--which is more than enough food for two people. When they say "lots of meat," they mean it: there was a massive sausage patty stretching across the entirety of the top of the pie alongside plenty of pepperoni. The cornmeal masa crust adds incredible depth and flavor to the dough. To me, it holds its own right alongside Chicago icons like Pequod's or Lou Malnati's, though the cheese layer was lighter than other establishments. The dining room is dark and a wee bit dated, giving off the feel of an old-school Italian spot (or a former Mexican restaurant converted into a pizzeria) with dark red and brown tones. The temperature inside was a bit on the cool side, but still comfortable. They sat the two of us in a generous booth easily large enough for five people. It's a huge space overall, offering a nice mix of tables, booths, and a large bar area. This corner of Echo Park has grown into a bustling food hub, but parking was easy on this night--there's a public lot behind the restaurant, though we lucked out with prime street parking just a block away (perks of arriving after 9:00 PM on a Saturday!). We arrived at 9:16 PM and let the host and server know we had a deep dish to go and wanted to sit down for tavern style and drinks. They reminded us a couple of times that the deep dish had to remain to-go due to the late hour, which was no problem at all since we already knew the drill. (Though interestingly, a review from May 29th mentioned guests could call ahead to fire a deep dish pie to eat in-house upon arrival to offset the 45-minute bake time--that policy wasn't an option during our visit). The initial phone service and host team were wonderful--they even gave us great local parking tips over the phone. However, the floor service faltered once the Laguna mix-up happened. The server also never introduced herself by name, and her defensive response to a basic menu correction left a somewhat sour note on an otherwise friendly night. Masa nails the food--the tavern crust is top-tier and the deep dish is a meat-lover's dream. With a bit more accountability on the service side when kitchen mix-ups happen, it could easily be a regular go-to. For now, it's gonna be a grab and go place--keep the great food, skip the less than service.

We also countered that carb bomb with deliciously charred broccolini with walnuts and a squeeze of citrus. Highly cruciferous veggies should only be grilled based on how fast we cleaned our plate. As for the entrees, the plates are meant to share, but I skipped lunch and ate my own bowl of mafaldine short rib pasta (yes you read that right). It was so hearty and satisfying. As a kid, I loved stealing the cooked lasagna noodles and eating them by itself when my mom would make lasagna, so having it on my own bowl of pasta (in the form of mafaldine) gratified my inner child. The short rib was so tender and it was perfectly sauced. I could have eaten another bowl. My friend ordered a steak and a rigatoni alla carbonara, and while I didn't try the former, the latter rigatoni was so delicious as well. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, and luckily the last one of the night. It had equal parts espresso soaked cake and cream, and it was the perfect sweet note to end our epically delicious meal.

We arrived around 7:45 for our 8pm reservation simply to check in, not expecting to be seated early. The host, seeming a little bothered, let us know our table would be ready closer to our reservation time and offered grabbing a drink at the bar next door as an option while we wait. We didn't want to order drinks, so we stood against the wall in the waiting area across the host stand. We were single-file, hugging the wall and not blocking anyone. Nevertheless, we were quickly told we couldn't wait there and needed to either go outside (it was cold) or sit at the tables next to the bar. After taking the indoor option given to us, a server came over to take our order. We explained that we were only sitting there because the host had directed us to wait there until our table was ready. The server responded, "Well, if you're here, it's basically expected you order a drink." Restaurants: please do not play games with your patrons. If purchasing something is expected to use the waiting area you direct us to, it leaves a really bad taste to discover it after you've sat down. Our server was friendly, personable, and never made us feel pressured to order more than we wanted like I've encountered in other places. The menu was explained as family-style, with dishes intended to arrive around the same time. Unfortunately, the pacing of the meal didn't match that explanation. Instead of arriving together, the dishes came out individually over the course of about 1-2 hours, often 10-20 minutes apart. I completely understand that everything is made fresh, but it was disappointing after being told the meal would be timed differently. Setting accurate expectations would have gone a long way. Came here with some friends for a quick bite dinner. Very solid pizza place that's closer to 3.5 stars. Just couldn't give them 4 stars because wasn't blown away by what I had. Food: Everyone shared their slices. So got to try the Mr. White, Joe P, The Grandma, and some garlic knots. The crust was great on all slices. Very thin with a little char, and substantial enough to hold up to the cheese and toppings. Pretty impressed. Mr. White and Joe P were awesome. Sometimes with "white" pizzas you only get one flavor coming through, but the Mr. White was really balanced. With some red pepper flakes and it's awesome. The Joe P was very good too. Tomato Pie doesn't skimp on their toppings and everything was really fresh. The Grandma and garlic knots were just ok. I think we probably needed to add some extra toppings to the Grandma like other yelpers have done. By itself, it's a very good Margherita pie but nothing you can't get at a good pizza place. The garlic knots were pretty plain and not something I'd order again. It's good dough, but I'd rather save space for more slices Overall, it's a good local place that serves a solid slice. Deserves your visit without second thoughts honey! It's a pretty cool, laid-back sort of a neighborhood pizzeria that not just shoots up for a variety of great pizzas, but also for other East Coast-inspired Italian dishes. Went here to throw a little bash for my cousin's birthday and quite a nice experience it was as the day welcomed the dark hour. Everything was striking, right from Tomato Pie's eclectic mix of design and music to its highly productive team of servers and chefs - that smilingly give an hour extra to serve you. where do i begin... a friend of mine recommend this place so i went. i waited about 20 minutes to order my slices because they were busy. then when i got my order and took it home and opened it, it was the wrong order. called them to let them know what happened, after talking to a guy for 10 minutes trying to explain what went wrong (how hard is it to understand you got my order wrong, sigh...) just bad customer service. don't know if it was just that day but i would not go there again. i wait for 20 min to order, wait another 10 min to get my food and to find out they got my order wrong. what a drag. i just wanted some slices and a drink, is that too much to ask for without getting it wrong or without the attitude? what a disappointment. read more

A small dinning area inside and a patio outside but I would recommend ordering in advance and picking up. The locals seem to like to bring their kids there and let them run amok so it gets noisy. The perfect pizza for a Friday night veg out in front of the television. Don't try to use the parking lot unless it is empty. Takes more time to maneuver in and out than it takes to pick up and pay. Also includes a drink (eg canned soda). Honestly, considering how BIG these slices of pizza are, this is a pretty good deal. Slices here are typically $6 for cheese with 50 cents per additional topping. Honestly, I was pretty surprised by how good this was. The slices of pizza are made to order with the toppings you want. These slices are huge by the way... one slice is easily two slices at other pizza places. You can also tell these ingredients are high quality. My girlfriend got a slice with artichoke hearts and they were so good. I opted to get the buffalo wings too with the lunch special and... oh my god... these were so good!!! I highly recommend eating it there because the wings have such a delicious flavor and are SO juicy and crunchy when you first bite into them. I was so shook. I will be back! I have been to Raffallo's Pizza numerous times in the past but not in a very long time.. like probably over 30 years. The one in Hollywood & La Brea is still there, but was way out of my way. Yesterday, my friend and I stopped by this Raffallo's Pizza in the heart of Hollywood which brings me a lot of great memories since I used to live there and practically spend 17 years of my life there. It's still home to me. This Pizza place has been there for a little over 10 years but the new owners Miguel & his wife Geysy took over the business 3 months ago. Got a very warm, happy, pleasant welcome by them and their employee by the name of Abigel. She was very sweet, kind, and brought out our order on timely manner. We both got their Gnocchi Al Pesto Genovese which included gnocchi, sauce (homemade) basil, garlic, pine nuts, parmigiana & reggiano. It's a type of pasta.(18;00), Got 2 more things: Scampi Salad with Grilled Shrimp, arugula, cherry tomatoes, avocado with lemon dressing.($20.00). Last, but not least we got their 12 inch medium size Vegetable Lovers Pizza: Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Black Olives, Onions & sliced tomatoes ($22.95). For drinks, we both stayed with our waters. Total came out to be $65.51. Food was very fresh, pipping hot, & very DELICIOUS. GF dough was a bit hard to chew, but wasn't too bad. They have few parking spaces right in the front, 1 gender neutral restroom and one last thing that you should know. When we got the check there were few hidden fees that was not mentioned to us before hand if you pay with a card. Overall, a great experience, we both split the bill and the ambiance was as lovely as it could be!! Thank you Miguel, Geysy and Abigel. Will return next time I am in the area.:-))
