    Vegan deep dish
    Tiffanie T.

This spot has some delicious deep dish vegan pizza! The saucy has a nice bite and they use some wonderful plant based cheese that melts on perfectly. It is a pretty penny but it's a treat so worth it. I added black olives, roasted garlic and red onion which is always my go to. It is perfect! Plus it is massive! You end up with a rectangle pizza with about 8 slices. The thing must have weighed 15 lbs too! My partner ordered and picked up so I can't say what it's like inside and what the service was like, but I bet it's worth it all!

350 pm, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 I just snuck in to order the daily special (slice, salad, drink) for $10.99. First time here so might as well try the combo. I asked for the most popular slice (Grandma), a house salad with balsamic. The self serve fountain is around the back, lol. I've always wondered about this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm unsure if they have a full size dining room! Seems like a place that is mainly for take out but has 4 petite booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked the head honcho for more info and he said there's an outdoor patio too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ooh baby! That slice hit the spot! It was warmed up. I believe and still had a bit of crispiness on the crust. The house salad was great too with the balsamic dressing tossed together. Shoot, next time I'm here for a somewhat quick service at Electric Ave I am returning to Tomato Pie for the daily deal! It hit extra good cause I've been avoiding fast food for a long minute.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Solid pizza joint with a nice diner aesthetic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fast service. Check out the art store nearby too :)

We've been on a mission to find good pizza in LA and this one has been added to that list! I'd actually give it a 4.5. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the old school diner feel inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not much seating but they have an outdoor area with a bunch of bunches as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were really nice and gave us suggestions on what to try and the drink specials. We are the Traditional Cheese , Grandma , Really Really Funghi , Syracuse, Utica slices. They were all good but the Syracuse, Grandma, and Utica were the best and I highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

My sister was raving about this place, I actually had no intention of coming here today but saw it while driving and was like ooohhhhh Snappppp it's right there! And turned in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small and cozy, parking lot is perfect size for the shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I went inside I was greeted right away. I ordered the Utica deep dish square and the fungi fungi slice. They heated it up perfectly and the Utica was super yummmmmy! Buttery and crispy crust and super flavorful. The fungi one was loaded with mushrooms and veggies and pesto that was super yummy too. Can't go wrong with anything you order everything looked bombbbbb! Make sure you give this place a try it's definitely worth it!

This is probably my favorite pizza joint in the city if I'm being honest. I come here with my partner at least once a month to split a whole pizza to share. I usually get the Miss Green and he gets The Primo and boy let me tell you it always hits. They're very consistent here when we come to eat so I appreciate that very much. The crust is always crunchy and thin ( makes me think I'm not eating too much carbs, but I highly doubt it). When you order, you order in front where the cash register is and they will provide you a number so they know where to place your order if you're eating in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is a casual spot to eat, nothing formal, but you get to have one of the best pizza's in the city.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It may be hard to find because it's in the corner or a bending street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot is small too, so if you can find street parking that's the way to go!

Some people call me a space cowboy, some people call me a fat kid who loves pizza more than he loves cake. Tomato pie slings affordable, filling slices with unique, extremely vegetarian friendly flavors. My favs include: * Mr white - it's like Michael Jackson but you want it. If you love cheese and garlic, but want to go past the mozzarella, this one is for you. * blanco veggie - it's like the the mr white, but I want to pretend I care about fiber and my health. you're probably the person that considers the cilantro on a katsu sando as ruffage * miss green - you love pesto pasta, but wished it was a pizza * really really funghi - this guy is invited to every single rager I'm every throwing. hands down the best pizza they throw here. it's easier to catch a mew on the first try with a regular poke ball than find this behind the slice cage. I'm glad I make those big bucks now so that I can just buy an 18 inch instead of meal prepping for the week. p.s. did you know you can freeze pizza slices individually in foil and then air fry to crispy perfection at 400F for 6 mins in your air fryer. don't thank me, buy someone that needs it a slice and pay it forward.

Garlic Knots: 1/5 Tomato Pie: 2/5 Bbq Chicken: 5/5 Employees: 5/5 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean: 5/5[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking: 5/5 16th of August 2025 Took so long for the garlic knots to come out and they were tasteless. The sauce was watery. The tomato pie pizza had cold sauce on it yet the crust was warm and delicious. The bbq chicken pizza was my favorite and very tasty.

Fantastic slices of pizza! Reminded of a local shop in New York and gives a nice solid flavor with their sauce. Here in silver lake they sell by the slice and also whole pies. I prefer by the slice so I can try different styles . I got the pepperoni, Utica, and bbq chicken. Service was very friendly and gave some good suggestions so I decided to try all 3 slices. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance also was very chill and laidback.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They call your name once you order your pizza then go to the patio or back home to eat it.

Generally, LA is not known for great pizza until now. Tomato Pie Pizza Joint (est 2006) is corner pizza joint that makes the perfect NY-Style pizza in Silverlake. They have two other locations: So.Pasadena and Woodland hills. As far as I can remember I have driven past by this place going to work for years. But today is the day I checked it out. I arrived as a first time customer. I was warmly greeted by Cesar, staff, at the counter. I told him that it was my first time at this joint and he explained to me the pizza slices they have. I perused their menu (pizza, pastas, subs, appetizers, salads) and decided to get a slice of Mr. White (Garlic olive oil, oregano, romano, ricotta, parmesan & mozzarella cheese), reg Cheese pizza and bottled water. He was kind enough to give a complimentary pizza The Grandma (crushed tomato, garlic, basil, light mozzarella & our original pecorino romano crust) pizza, as a first time customer. I was grateful! Pizza was flavorful and its crust was great. It's exactly the kind of NY style pizza taste that I'm accustomed growing up in NYC. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing. Their sleek interior 60's design definitely stands out compared to other pizza joint in LA. Prices seem fair. Overall, I loved every pizza moment. I highly recommend them.

I ordered to-go and the wait time was pretty quick. I ordered a half & half (grandma and florentine). The grandma was a great basic plain pizza, but the florentine surprised me in a good way. I loved the flavor of all the vegetables together and would definitely order entire pizza of this next time! And don't miss out on the garlic knots- they're great with the gooey melted cheese and pesto! There's a small parking lot otherwise it's street parking.

Ask the Community - Tomato Pie Pizza Joint

Are there vegan pizzas here? I see vegan cheese but no mention of fully vegan pizzas.

    Yes.

Does anyone know what their vegan cheese is made with?

I believe they use Daiya Cheese. Their sauce is so delicious and you can get veggies if you don't like Daiya Cheese.

    Is the cheese cashew-based?

    No

Since they're open until 10:00 PM, we decided to stop by Masa of Echo Park for our very first visit. We called in advance to go over our options, and the people on the phone both times were fantastic--kind, helpful, and empathetic. They clearly explained the house policy: in-house deep dish orders have a 9:00 PM cutoff. Since we wouldn't make it in time for that, we placed a deep dish order over the phone to go and planned to eat a thin-crust tavern-style pie in the restaurant. For our dine-in pie, we ordered a tavern-style pizza split 1/2 Laguna (mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil) and 1/2 Baxter (pepperoni or veggie pepperoni, ricotta, house hot honey, mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil). We expected the Laguna side to come topped with fresh basil as described on the menu, but as you can see in the photos, we were served what was essentially just a plain 1/2 cheese pie on one side and 1/2 Baxter on the other. When we pointed out to the server that the Laguna half was missing its basil, she insisted it was a Laguna and claimed the Laguna doesn't come with basil. The server was kind enough to bring us a side of fresh basil to add ourselves. After we left, we looked back to the menu description (which explicitly lists mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil). While we appreciated the quick fix of the plentiful of fresh basil she brought us, it was frustrating that neither the kitchen nor the server simply owned up to the oversight. A quick apology and accountability go a long way--it's truly the difference between a 3-star and a 4-star experience, and it's what builds trust with first-time diners. Miscommunication aside, the thin, crisp tavern-style crust was great--it hit with nostalgic vibes like Monty's in Highland Park back in the 1980s. I'd easily come back just to grab a tavern-style pie to go. Strangely, the pizza cooled down surprisingly fast in the dining room. It did not hold the heat well. As for the deep dish, we saved it for breakfast the next morning, and it was delicious. We ordered a small "All Meats" deep dish--which is more than enough food for two people. When they say "lots of meat," they mean it: there was a massive sausage patty stretching across the entirety of the top of the pie alongside plenty of pepperoni. The cornmeal masa crust adds incredible depth and flavor to the dough. To me, it holds its own right alongside Chicago icons like Pequod's or Lou Malnati's, though the cheese layer was lighter than other establishments. The dining room is dark and a wee bit dated, giving off the feel of an old-school Italian spot (or a former Mexican restaurant converted into a pizzeria) with dark red and brown tones. The temperature inside was a bit on the cool side, but still comfortable. They sat the two of us in a generous booth easily large enough for five people. It's a huge space overall, offering a nice mix of tables, booths, and a large bar area. This corner of Echo Park has grown into a bustling food hub, but parking was easy on this night--there's a public lot behind the restaurant, though we lucked out with prime street parking just a block away (perks of arriving after 9:00 PM on a Saturday!). We arrived at 9:16 PM and let the host and server know we had a deep dish to go and wanted to sit down for tavern style and drinks. They reminded us a couple of times that the deep dish had to remain to-go due to the late hour, which was no problem at all since we already knew the drill. (Though interestingly, a review from May 29th mentioned guests could call ahead to fire a deep dish pie to eat in-house upon arrival to offset the 45-minute bake time--that policy wasn't an option during our visit). The initial phone service and host team were wonderful--they even gave us great local parking tips over the phone. However, the floor service faltered once the Laguna mix-up happened. The server also never introduced herself by name, and her defensive response to a basic menu correction left a somewhat sour note on an otherwise friendly night. Masa nails the food--the tavern crust is top-tier and the deep dish is a meat-lover's dream. With a bit more accountability on the service side when kitchen mix-ups happen, it could easily be a regular go-to. For now, it's gonna be a grab and go place--keep the great food, skip the less than service.

It came with a pad of homemade honey butter and a dab of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. It was so umami and paired with the butter seemingly melted in our mouths. We also countered that carb bomb with deliciously charred broccolini with walnuts and a squeeze of citrus. Highly cruciferous veggies should only be grilled based on how fast we cleaned our plate. As for the entrees, the plates are meant to share, but I skipped lunch and ate my own bowl of mafaldine short rib pasta (yes you read that right). It was so hearty and satisfying. As a kid, I loved stealing the cooked lasagna noodles and eating them by itself when my mom would make lasagna, so having it on my own bowl of pasta (in the form of mafaldine) gratified my inner child. The short rib was so tender and it was perfectly sauced. I could have eaten another bowl. My friend ordered a steak and a rigatoni alla carbonara, and while I didn't try the former, the latter rigatoni was so delicious as well. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, and luckily the last one of the night. It had equal parts espresso soaked cake and cream, and it was the perfect sweet note to end our epically delicious meal.

Bacetti is a beautiful restaurant serving delicious food, but our experience was unfortunately let…read moredown by some confusing and inconsistent service. The restaurant is located near Dodger Stadium in a hilly residential area that isn't particularly pedestrian-friendly. Parking was by far the biggest logistical challenge, as we couldn't find any dedicated parking options beyond residential street parking. It's worth planning extra time if you're driving. We arrived around 7:45 for our 8pm reservation simply to check in, not expecting to be seated early. The host, seeming a little bothered, let us know our table would be ready closer to our reservation time and offered grabbing a drink at the bar next door as an option while we wait. We didn't want to order drinks, so we stood against the wall in the waiting area across the host stand. We were single-file, hugging the wall and not blocking anyone. Nevertheless, we were quickly told we couldn't wait there and needed to either go outside (it was cold) or sit at the tables next to the bar. After taking the indoor option given to us, a server came over to take our order. We explained that we were only sitting there because the host had directed us to wait there until our table was ready. The server responded, "Well, if you're here, it's basically expected you order a drink." Restaurants: please do not play games with your patrons. If purchasing something is expected to use the waiting area you direct us to, it leaves a really bad taste to discover it after you've sat down. After 8, we were seated in the main restaurant for our reservation. Our server was friendly, personable, and never made us feel pressured to order more than we wanted like I've encountered in other places. The menu was explained as family-style, with dishes intended to arrive around the same time. Unfortunately, the pacing of the meal didn't match that explanation. Instead of arriving together, the dishes came out individually over the course of about 1-2 hours, often 10-20 minutes apart. I completely understand that everything is made fresh, but it was disappointing after being told the meal would be timed differently. Setting accurate expectations would have gone a long way. The food itself was excellent and easily the highlight of the evening. While the dishes leaned a bit salty, everything was crafted artfully with quality ingredients. The stuffed fried squash blossoms, carbonara, pesto, and peach & burrata salad were all standouts that I'd happily order again.
