The food was exceptional, the service was excellent, and the menu was varied enough that also included pastas, salads, and sandwiches. However, no alcohol was served at this location, the pizza sizes were a tad smaller in comparison, and the prices were certainly on the higher end. I have been here multiple times and each time it gets better! I highly recommend the Blanco Veggie and the Ms Green. An amazing combo of veggies on a pizza with ricotta and parmesan cooked to perfection with a crispy crust! I'm from Chicago and lived in New York and Detroit so I have some idea of what makes a great pizza and this place passes the test. Food - Pizza is def one if my favs in LA. Most authentic New York style slice/pizza in the city. The Mediterranean salad is great and the meatballs are worth ordering as a side dish as they are smothered in sauce. My only complaint is there is not a lot of care taken when you ask them to hold onions for example or substituting dressing on a salad. Not sure why they just removed the booths and. seating inside the restaurant but they've spruced up the outdoor eating area. Disappointing. But virtually every La New York deep dish or any other American pie variant (exceptions to Vito's and Massa of echo park and Larchmont pizzeria) so far cannot even remotely make the cut. Tomato pie joint offers slices, whole pizzas, calzones and a few side dishes. Ordered their grandma and Sicilian slice. Under heated, both slices came out only slightly warmed. I'm a Stromboli fanatic. I've looked everywhere in the South Bay for it in just about every Italian(ish) dive that I could find. Born & Raised in the South Bay! Ok, so they said BUUUTT... they CAN make it as a "3 foot Stromboli" but it would be $30 & take about 45 minutes to make. I wanted pizza, so I started searching around the area and this joint popped up. Incredibly glad I decided to come here. The pizza wasn't greasy, had the perfect ratio of crust to the actual goodness, hot, fresh and crispy. I like my pizza's thin (NY style) and this place measured up! Tomato Pie Pizza Joint has such a cute name ! :) I actually missed the location because of how small the place is. But I double backed and parking in the parking lot, walked in and thought "Cute colors!" The inside has a few booths and right in the front is where you can see the display case filled with lovely pizzas to buy. You can look up at the menu and buy it as a whole pizza or you can just go and order a few slices. Since coming in and wanting to try a lot of different flavors I got them by the slice. I had the grandmothers which is to die for. I love tomatoes so when I got a chance to take a bite it was delicious and I'm sure if I had a grandmother that cooked this I would want to eat it everyday. The second slice of pizza I got was Mr. White filled with three different types of cheeses and it was pretty bomb. If I had to pick though hands down I enjoyed grandmothers. Everyone has the kind of favorite pizza they would like so Im glad that this place has lots of different ones to choose from! Also the price isn't that expensive with ranging from 2-3 bucks it is pretty reasonable. If you just eat two slices it is a pretty cheap lunch ! I was full and satisfied too! I can't wait to come here again. And I just had it. And I'm not a hipster. I need to calm down. My buddy and I came here yesterday for lunch and were surprised to find it empty at 11:45am... so we took our time comparing all the slices and ingredients and what we really wanted. But once it was 5 past noon, it got SO packed, and with good reason! I got the Ms. Green, Eggplant Parmagiana, and a slice of the square thick-crusted pepperoni pizza while he got the Spicy, Joe P., and Grandma. I love the Ms. Green so much because first of all, I love pesto. Secondly, it's topped with delicious vegetables! I don't even care about the cheese anymore at this point. That being said, the square piece of pepperoni pizza was the best I've had in a VERY long time. Whenever you have a flashback when you eat, you know it's good. In this case, it reminded me of having pizza and soda on Fridays in middle school, but this was SO much better. The tomato sauce tasted very fresh and sweet. I was very surprised at how much I loved it. The cheese was perfect and the pepperoni was expertly sliced thinly. The crust was pretty thick with the bottom being crunchy and as you go up, it's softer. Very nice with a sprinkle of pepper flakes and garlic salt. Eggplant was ok and more mild in taste. My buddy liked all his choices and demolished everything quicker than I did, but he noted that I slowed down because of the crust on the pepperoni. This place is so close to my house yet I've only tried Tomato Pie Pizza once. This review is based solely on Tomato's TOGO SINGLE SLICED PIZZA. Single sliced goodness is what I was talking about. The single sliced pizzas I had boxed up in between my softball tournament games were delish. The Joe P. was good but the Syracuse (with ranch...I think it was a special that day) was awesome. Based on the 2 slices I had, the pizza was delicious. I'm headed back to Tomato Pie soon to dine in and grab a few more slices. Parking situation could be bad when they're busy. I had stopped ordering from TPie years ago, their delivery was bad back then. But I'd heard they were donating a portion of proceeds to the local gym so I ordered tonight. And if it weren't for the the donation... Order was placed at 6:08 Was told the wait would be approx 75 min. At 7:18 I got an email that the pizza was on its way. Pizza arrived at 8:10. I live around the block, literally. I'm quarantining so I didn't want to put anyone at risk by stopping in. Pizza arrived cold. I reheated it, but the cheese was plastic and the bread was leather. I'm still happy to have supported the local gym, but I was reminded of why I stopped ordering from here. I didn't give 1 star because it is nice that they're even doing fundraiser, and because the food wasn't entirely inedible. But my experience echoes past experience and many other complaint here, the flavor isn't worth the wait and the price. Disappointing. While the flavor and crust were good the scarcity of toppings was a big disappointment. We ordered the Deluxe which includes sausage, canadian bacon, pepperoni, green bell pepper, mushroom, red onion, black olive, mozzarella cheese & tomato sauce. Made some minor changes removing the sausage and adding spicy sausage, adding shave parmesan, adding red bell pepper. Toppings were fewer than you would expect on a pizza at this price point. Was looking for something to eat after a long day of walking around at the zoo. Wasn't really to sure where to go but Pizza popped up and it was the closet one to our location. I'm really glad we came here. The pizza was really delicious. And that means a lot when coming from a New Yorker who only has been truly loyal to New York Pizza! I'm a thin crust kind of girl. Deep dish and I never have really gotten along. So what I really loved about this place is that the crust isn't to crispy or to soft. It's just right. I order one that had I forgot the name of it at this moment but it had chicken on it. I also loved that unlike many pizzas spot I've eaten at in the past they never have garlic and this one did. I def want to eat here again in the future. I only ordered one slice but I was tempted to order another. I really enjoyed being able to sit at the counter and watch how they made the pizzas. I also notice how fast, clean and good the customer service was there. My favorite part about eating my pizza there with my family was thy they played really cool music.
