Came 30 mins before closing so the selection of by the slice was limited, regardless the Syracuse slices were fire. They heat the slices for you so you get a good warm bite. It's second time order to go, and each time, My family were satisfied 100%. Staffs are so nice, food is delicious! Here Marinara sauce is so fresh I can feel the tamatoes inside. Not too salty. They have spacious parking lot. They don't have table inside, but I guess at outside patio, they have some. You can deliver on their website, but my area is not available. I just love this place so much! It never ever disappoints! It's pretty expensive but the good stuff if always expensive ain't it. I now work in Woodland Hills and go to that location very often but this place is the original so in my opinion is better! Grandma and Syracuse and my top 2 favorites. I've been looking for a pizza by the slice shop in my area and I'm glad I found it. On my first visit the staff were all friendly and the pizza slices were great. I wish they served gluten-free by the slice but I can see why that would be difficult. My only complaints are that they didn't have a high chair for our baby and the open patio area is not fenced off so kids can run out into the parking lot and it's a short run into the street. Instead of disagreeing and destroying him on the battlefield of words I let it ride. I got my car washed and the entire time I felt guilty for not writing more. Not opposing words to Ross in our text, but in general. I should be writing more. So where else to satisfy and satiate than yelp.com? 2. Yesterday we (Ross & I) wanted pizza. A lot of places are closed on Mondays so we stepped out of our usual dining rituals and placed Tomato Pie Pizza Joint in our crosshairs. I'd eaten there before which was I recommended the spot. I knew what to expect. Pizza. It's only 25% of the business name but that's a quarter of brutal truth. Pizza. We wanted pizza. And we got pizza. 3. Pizza. 4. They offer pizza by the slice (which is my go to) but Ross suggested we share a pie. "Pie" was another 25% of the business name. We went plain. Cheese. Sauce. & the dough. We sat outside. We waited. 5. The table outside was sturdy. You can sit on the bench or the concrete perimeter. Both options are comfortable. At one point Ross got up and requested our pizza be cooked well done. Besides that we didn't move. We talked. Writing came up. But so did watching. I love watching movies. Ross is disgusted by my movie watching habits. I let his disgust persist. He doesn't get it. None of them do. 6. The pizza arrived. We opened the box. Perfection. I made a call up top, "Let's split the pizza now so we don't have to figure out who gets what slice later." Ross obliged me. I placed a slice on my plate. I waited. I didn't want to burn my mouth. I waited a little more. I bit. Perfection. "Yum," I said. "Yum," Ross said. "Yum," you said. Because you're reading this outloud. Or you're not. & now I lost you. But you're already finishing #6 so you keep reading. Because you're no coward. You finish what you started. 7. We finished the pizza. Slice by slice. Yum by yum. The only disagreement we had was what was the ideal crust. The slim denser type or the crust with the air bubble in it. The bubble crust. I sided with the former, Ross with the latter. We disagreed. But we moved past that. Because why? Ruin a friendship over crust? Crust me. & trust me. It's not worth it. I'm married. 8. I only mentioned that I'm married because my last review, for La Pergoletta, brings up my marriage a lot. For any of my longtime readers I wanted to make sure there wasn't a bit of dismay, a bit of, "Is Zed C. from Yelp still married?" Not that I think any of my loyal readers are trying to elope with me but because. Just because. Isn't that reason enough? 9. I would like to address Yelp user Michael S. and his "review" of Tomato Pie Pizza Joint. "First say hello and welcome then rudely yell out mask!" Michael. My guy. It's August of 2021. How do you not know to wear a mask before entering a business? It's been 17 months of this. You're annoyed by being told to wear a mask? Imagine how that worker feels when they have to remind someone to do the obvious. Do you think they enjoy this process? Okay. Let's move on. "...Forced us to stay outside n eat on the curb in the parking lot?? ARE YOU SERIOUS???" My guy. They don't allow indoor dining. Again. It's August of 2021. Are YOU serious? Do you really not understand that restaurants are trying to their best to stay afloat and have had to change as a result? Hard to imagine but perhaps they've had issues inside with certain people who don't like being told to wear masks and closed off their inside as a result. If this bothers you so much you could always just eat somewhere else instead of writing a one-star Yelp review in the midst of a pandemic. "I will spend my pennies else where." My guy. Several months ago we were happy to get to any place at all and have some food outside of our apartments, seating at parking lots also, because of the unemployment it's super hard to keep you employees working and have a great service. So dont go hard on places rn. Especially if you are giving 1 star just because they didnt say Hello to you. Your review should be based on your overall experience. For some people those reviews are like a power So about pizza. Live the selection on the display! You dont see those types of pizzas a lot. Usually it's all pepperoni , cheese and Hawaiian pizza. Here they have really nice pizzas. Just by looking at them you can tell that they spent time on recipes. Got white pizza and tomato pie. It was delicious. When you by pizza by the slice, you kinda ready to have less quality than when you order whole pizza, but it wasn't the case. I really enjoyed it a lot. Also, they have nice seats outside. I have been eating at and supporting tomato pie since they opened. I eat there enough that I dont judge if I receive an over baked pizza and even forgave them when I was sent home with a ham pizza (I'm a vegetarian). Recently my fiancé placed an order on the Caviar app. I was going to pick it up on the way home from work but while I was in the tomato pie line waiting - my fiancé texted me that the pizza wasn't ready and to come on home. About twenty minutes later when I returned - the manager (plain clothes shirt and accent) said my fiancé did not have any order placed. Then he followed with "I saw you here earlier. Did you already pick up the pizza and now your here to try and get another one?" I'm in shock at this point so I call my fiancé and he confirms which app he ordered on - and I communicated to this manager that it was a caviar order. He then looked at the caviar app for the first time and found my fiancés order. He gave me the pizza with no apology. I dont think I can support a shop that accuses their customers of stealing - only to find it's their own incompetence that lead to the misunderstanding. No apology. Pizza is not good enough to lure me back after this experience. I know this a family owned business as I used to be served by the owners. We've been coming here for years, but the last two times things have been waaaaay off. 1) Last month we ordered in and they delivered to the wrong address. It took another 30+ minutes to get the correct order brought to us. When it was, the crust on the pie was burnt and the cheese was all over the place.
