I hate to say this because I really wanted to have a good experience with this restaurant but I was not a fan of this restaurant overall, especially with regards to the crab Thai fried rice that I ordered. First off, the Thai friend rice was fried using yellow rice, and that is a first for me, second they fry the rice with huge chunks of bell peppers and it just ruins that flavor of the rice... it was extremely overpowering. This was definitely not a traditional experience with ordering Thai fried rice for me. The Tom Yum soup that I ordered was okay, but it had huge chunks of nearly raw vegetables (such onions, carrots, and tomatoes) and that wasn't at all what I expected and didn't seem to add to the flavor either... it just seemed to give it a weird texture and made it difficult to eat at the same time. I will say that the portion of Tom Yum soup that I got was a large one, but then again, it was also very pricey (nearly $20). I'm giving them 3 stars because I appreciate that they offer Thai fried rice with crab meat and they also give you a significant amount of crab meat (which was definitely nice bonus). The portion of fried rice was large as well but for the approximately $25 price, it seems like a large portion is the least they could do for you. This entire experience left me regretting ordering Uber Eats from Tommy Thai and I kicked myself for spending top dollar on it as well... sadly not the experience I was looking for at all. There were about 4 other people there, popular place, so I should have called my order in rather than wait outside. They have at least 4 levels of heat and I chose spicy. The thinly sliced pork was tender and swimming with the vegetables in a yellow curry sauce. The flavors were blended well and this dish was wonderful ladled over steamed rice. We we went and the food was 5 stars all the way pan Thai noodle was great Cashew chicken , tons of chicken and the fried lemon herb wings were the bomb ! Service was quick not great but above average and the parking can be rough but we got lucky So why the 4 vs 5 stars ?? Attentiveness is always what makes or break. Flavorful and very comforting. The calamari was probably the best I've had. My daughter liked it even more. A plate of juice, tender squid, and crisp bits. I've been going to Tommy Thai for a while and the reason I'm a returning customer is that the food has good taste and the portions are generous. The reason I don't give it the 5th star is the fact that spice level is inconsistent and customer service isn't the best. If I call in my order for pick-up, the food is ready quickly and the spice level is what I requested. If I dine-in in the restaurant and order (the same spice level), it is less spicy. The whole reason why I'm going to a Thai place is for spicy food. The last few times, I've noticed the woman taking orders doesn't get the spice level correct. She's even asked if I was sure about the spice level. Even if something is requested, she still think she knows what's best for the customer. Overall, my suggestion is to order pick-up because you may be unhappy with the level of service while dinning in. read more

I am so disappointed with Tommy Thai. I used to buy food from here regularly about 1x to 2x per week. Yesterday I ordered the same soup (Tom Yum) soup and it cost me a whooping $5 more. I was ok with that, not happy but okay with it. When the $20 soup arrived I was absolutely disappointed. Not only was the price 25% extra but there was almost no substance. About 2 pieces of broccoli, barely any mushrooms, and some carrots. Filler (cabbage) more than anything. Overall the taste of the broth was disappointing also. I understand a restaurant has to increase pricing every year but 25% is ridiculous. Also if you are going to increase this much at least keep the amount consistent. First, let me apologize for not including any pictures. Although I'm a Yelper, I don't do this professionally, so my first thought is to eat, especially when the food looks and smells as delicious as our food did. Tommy Thai's Thai Rice Noodle soup is not only delicious, it has the same magical powers as our Khao Piak from back home. After eating almost the family size serving of this soup, my wife feels 100% better!!! In addition to her delicious soup, I enjoyed Fresh Rolls, which are a version of a spring roll with chicken, served with a peanut sauce. There's 6 pieces that come with an ordered that can easily be shared with two other people. However, they were so good, I ate them all, and even wiped the peanut sauce serving cup with the last piece If that wasn't enough, I ordered the sweet chili fried wings, which to borrow a famous line, were finger lickin' good!!! The serving of wings was also enough for at least 3 people to share. Again, I'm sorry for not posting pictures, but I dug In immediately and I was so happy I did. Most of their orders are take out, so it was nice and quiet in the restaurant. The servers were really nice and accommodating. On a Friday afternoon at around 3:30 PM in Mountain View, there aren't many choices for authentic Thai food driving down El Camino. Luckily for our trio, Tommy Thai was open for business! The interior is nice and cozy, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Since it was our first time here, we wanted to sample as many dishes as we could handle. Here is the line-up: * Fresh Rolls w/Shrimp * Crab Fried Rice * Pad Thai w/Shrimp * Panang Chicken * Rock Cod * Prik Khing Green Beans * Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango The Fresh Rolls were like mini shrimp burritos and was a great app to set the stage. We dug into the tasty Crab Fried Rice and poured some of the Panang Chicken curry sauce over it. The Rock Cod was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. The green beans were tasty and the Pad Thai was a little saucier than I am used to. Overall, everything packed great flavor and hit the spot. Our only complaint was our dessert. I ordered Pad Thai (spicy level 3), Green Curry (spicy level 5), and Tom Yum soup (spicy level 5) for delivery. Green Curry and Tom Yum soup were okay but they were overpriced for the size. Curry was ~$15 from the dinner menu and did not come with rice. It was good but there was nothing really special about it. The Tom Yum soup (small order) was ~$15 and was enough for 2 people. Veg toppings only. Nothing special but not bad. In general, very spicy. I recommend not even try level 3 if you can't take spice. However, the worst pad thai I have ever had in my entire life. I am a regular at Tommy Thai. They have a big selection of vegetarian items and they always get the flavor right. But during recent orders, I have noticed that the food has become very very oily. There's like a pool of oil at the bottom of my to-go box. I am not sure it this is the case for only vegetarian items, but not liking the food anymore. read more

So a few of my girls and I booked a room at the Hyatt Regency of Santa Clara. To get some pool time in and just to relax. It was lunch time and decided to Doordash some food. The eggrolls were delicious. 3. Calamari: definitely a large portion. Probably better right out the fryer. Battered well and sauce that came with was good. 4. Seafood Thai basil: was actually really good. It had lots of veggies including eggplant that I was so excited for. It has large pieces of battered fish, calamari and large shrimp. Food was OK small portion you just pay for the noodles or whatever you get you gotta pay extra for the meat they overcharge me I pay .28.38 pad see ew with chicken and shrimp plate was 16 + 2 for chicken and shrimp and a soda which means my soda was 10 $?? bathroom was really disgusting. The porta potty at my job park cleaner so I went back and they charged me a seven dollar tip without my permission. That's why they charge extra. Be careful.
